Midnight has late hours so is great for a after party stop. The food takes some time because they are usually busy. But the staff are usually very friendly, and the music is great. My favorite thing to get is the chicken and waffles. They have great sides as well. The grits have never missed the mark. We stopped here to eat after the Georgia/Clemson football game. The line to be seated was insanely long but that's fair considering the limited options at 12-12:30am after a big sporting event. Once we were seated though, our waitress did a wonderful job of quickly getting us drinks and taking our order. Even though they were slammed, the food was still really good and decently priced. They have a TON of menu options so there's something for everyone. I'm glad we stuck out the long wait because it ended up being really good. I think if you live in nc you'd think this diner is the best of the best but unfortunately I am not from there. Took a day trip to visit whitewater and this diner had the best food options. Get there and it's a line like you are waiting to get into the club. After about 20 minutes my friend and I decided to go inside and just sit at the bar. I got chicken and waffles and while the waffle was really good fluffy buttery melted in your mouth the chicken was very under cooked. Even 3 more minutes frying would have been good. The macaroni and cheese was good basic southern Mac and cheese , very cheesy but lacking in flavor. The grits were a little thing because of the gravy and my friends wing wasn't cooked and she had to return it. Overall I'd say if you were hungry and had no option yeah but as a staple as a must visit in nc I don't think so. read more

Reviews are mostly positive, but my experience will tell you that the food is just okay and not something to rave about. The reason why I decided to go here was because I like biscuits. When in the south, the biscuits must be pretty damn good. Midnight Diner's biscuits is not their specialty. Hardee's fresh made biscuit is way better than Midnight Diner's biscuits. I regret not going to Biscuitville, which I predict I would probably like better than Midnight Diner's biscuit. I also ordered shrimp and grits, which was a little spicy. First time eating at this place and we got it to go. I got chicken and waffles, (which is also my first time trying chicken and waffles)- the chicken was crispy but did lack that seasoning. I had the chicken and waffles, two perfectly fried chicken wings with the drumsticks and a fluffy waffle that was spot on. This is one of Charlotte's most popular restaurants. It's right next to the spectrum center and the Charlotte transportation center, the ladder of which means there might be some interesting people roamming around, but I personally never felt unsafe there. This place stays crowded. There was even a wait at 1:30 PM on a Saturday in January. Service is very friendly and they are as quick as they can be with such a constantly crowded restaurant. They even are able to accommodate a large group of visually impaired people. My friends and I have been there twice as a group in both times despite the tight space they have been able to accommodate us very well. They have a nice patio outside and I would like to experience a meal on it because inside is very hot and cramped. Food is classic comfort food like pancakes, fried chicken, shrimp and grits and so on and it's very good. There is some parking beside the restaurant and I believe it is free. read more

This is my last time visiting. I decided to give them a try since they reopened thinking something may have gotten better but every time I come here I regret it immediately upon walking in. I don't know what world we live in where restaurants feel like it's ok to charge $15 for bacon eggs and grits, and $4 for a small cup of orange juice, but it's not worth coming here. Midnight diner did not disappoint!! My boyfriend and I came on Memorial Day and waited about half an hour-worth the wait. I heard they had good French toast so I ordered the coconut crunch French toast with 3 pieces of fried chicken and it was so amazing! The Chala bread gave a nice soft inside and a nice and toasted outside with coconut flakes and light dusting of powdered sugar on top! The fried chicken had good flavor and an awesome crunch! I was very upset with my 1st timeexperience @ Midnight diner.I would NEVER return there again! After a heated argument w/Hostess and my Sister we were asked to leave. Which i wasn't going to stay anyway because who would want people cooking their food after such an exchange. Bacon, Hash-browns, Egg & Biscuit was ordered by my hubby. Chicken was cooked well, juicy and had just enough seasoning. The French toast was light and not too sweet.
