Visiting AK for the week. This place was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. We came in and ordered a coffee, chai and 2 of the breakfast specials (served all day) - the Flyin Pig in the Garden and the Angry Flyin Pig. The sandwiches were fantastic, especially with a little of the provided hot sauces. The no bake chocolate chip cookies were awesome as well. I think the only things I would've preferred were mugs for our drinks instead of to go cups since we were dining in. Overall great experience and super cute atmosphere. read more

As a visitor to Anchorage really enjoyed this restaurant Cafe 4 and relax and tasty lunch. Had the Cuban sandwich with the chips and also a Caesar salad. The two folks working on Sunday the 25th were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, even though I had a coupon. Sandwich was a really tasty panini and definitely hit the spot. Tip - the pastries are to die for. I grabbed a couple cookies to go and they help sustain me on my travels back home. They were amazing! read more

This cafe has a nice eclectic vibe but unfortunately falls behind big time on delivering quality. Our croissant sandwiches were cold despite my request to warm the croissants up on a cold rainy morning. When we asked the guy at the counter to substitute turkey for ham, he told us that they are processed the same way so why substitute :) The Caffe -au-lait was sloppily prepared with the hot liquid brimming out of the lid and pouring into the Table - very bad coffee to milk ratio. We waited almost 15 mins for our sandwiches. So much potential - especially considering the location. But sloppy quality and slow service does a big disservice to this cute little establishment. read more

Young black guy with the green head band needs to be more discrete. I heard him talking out loud about how gross my sandwich was, then he said out loud something about never getting around to cleaning something. These are just things a customer shouldn't hear. The food was good though. read more

really good soup, really nice window seating in the sunshine to warm up and work, SUPER nice staff, really good coffee one star off because I can't get around panini smells although I didn't smell like it when I left, so that's way better than most places that grill sandwiches. 4.5 stars :-) read more

Anchorage's hidden gem. I generally frequent other local cafes but today I decided to try something different and give Midnight Sun a shot. I'm thoroughly impressed. Great service, the turkey bacon panini was bomb, and the iced Americano I got was brewed with perfection. Desert, a blueberry crumple bar, was also awesome. Oh my gosh! I was walking back to my car and happened upon this little cafe! They specialize in mostly coffee & beverages, but do have several sandwiches, paninis, soup & salad! I got there at 1230pm and the lunch special was sold out! That's how good it was! I decided to try the turkey & pepper jack panini & chips. I was worried it might be spicy, but NO, it was the MOST delicious thing I've ever had! SO GOOD! It had turkey, roasted red peppers, pepper jack cheese & spinach served on sourdough which MADE this sandwich. I opted for crunchy kettle chips which was a great compliment! You MUST stop in! Very disappointed, I ordered the chef's salad, I did not know what I was getting as it is chef's choice. My salad was made up of lots of romaine ribs, chunks of carrots, lots of cucumbers, tomatoes and shredded turkey or chicken, dried parmesan cheese. Not enough dressing to go with the large salad. I love chef's salad because I like variety so expected better variety of veggies. Never had a chef's salad without a hardboiled egg and more than one meat. I was not offered water or a drink when I placed the order and it came with only a fork. It is nice to have a knife, or crackers or bread served with salad. I expect more personal service, than ordering at a counter and then having to bus your own table. Not any better that fast food, I could have gone to the food court in the mall for that. ALWAYS check your to-go orders! I work 2 blocks away and when they can get the order right they have a good BLT sandwich on multigrain. One time the bread was burned to a crisp-I don't like being throwing my money away. I called and of course was offered a new one but I was already back at work. The incident that did it for me was after boycotting them for several months, I ordered the BLT and the young man asked if it was multigrain, I said yes, then he asked me if I wanted sourdough (what?) I said no. Then asked if I wanted chips or carrots and I said no to both. I get to work and there are no a lot of chips on to of a BLT on sourdough. I called and asked to speak to the manager and the guy asked how he could help me and I asked "Are you the manager?", he said he could serve as a manager. I reluctantly told him and of course he apologized. I hung up and went back over there and requested my money back and let them know I was done I would not be back! It's a quaint little place and it's a shame that they can't get orders right for someone who would have been been frequent and gives reviews! read more

So glad to have found this place on a Sunday morning when the breakfast lines near our hotel were SO long. Loved the smiles of our servers and was really impressed with the "can do" attitude of the two young women there. They could see my husband was interested in eating an omelet. We didn't expect they would actually make one. They checked for a few things and said "Sure, we can do that." We had two made to our preferences and they were excellent. If that were not enough, I left my I-phone there and didn't realize until reaching Denver airport that night. They not only kept it safe but had it shipped to me as soon as I gave them an address. Love, love, LOVE the Midnight Sun Cafe! I used to haul myself out of bed every Saturday and Sunday for their brie panini when I lived downtown. Add to that coffees, smoothies, and delicious fresh-baked cookies, chocolatey bars, and other goodies and you have a recipe for a fabulous lunchtime favorite. Sometimes you can wait a bit for your food, but just give yourself time. You'll be glad you did. read more

My favorite place for coffee in town and my go-to when I didn't pack a lunch. The coffee is excellent and the service is always great. You really can't go wrong with anything you order off of the lunch or breakfast menu, but the lunch special is probably the best deal. The food is good; however, nothing that can't be made easily at home. The cookies are great! I rated it two stars because everything is generally over priced, they had ran out of bananas around 2:00 pm, we waited quite a long time for our food and the staff was slightly immature. read more
