I had the chicken teriyaki and tempura udon. The teriyaki was dry, tough and flavorless. They served about 3 tablespoons of steamed rice with it. It seemed like they boiled the chicken breast to hell and covered it with the blandest teriyaki sauce I've ever had. The udon noodles were ok. The broth was incredibly bland though. This place was perfect for a quick lunch and to fill my sushi craving. My husband and I both ordered bento boxes, which offered plenty of food and basically a little personal buffet for us. With each box you are first served miso soup and a little salad as starters. The miso soups could have had more tofu, I only had 1 little cube. I ordered the broiled red snapper and my husband the bulgogi. The boxes came with 2 pieces of nigiri, 4 pieces of California roll and their signature phoenix roll. All of the sashimi and sushi were fresh and well-packaged with a good amount of wasabi and sliced ginger. Usually when we dine in, we specifically request which of the fish to be our 5 pieces of sashim and they substitute it as requested but when ordering takeout, it was chef's selection; my least favorite is the whitefish in the assortment. My plus one and I on a Saturday night w no reservations were trying to find a cute but delicious place for sushi and Midori gave us exactly what we needed. We went in hoping for a small wait but upon entry was seated immediately. It's small inside but feels large and open. There are booth options, table options, and bar seating I believe in the back area. We'd never been here but heard great things and we asked the waitress a few questions to help us determine what we wanted. We got 2 sushi rolls, one was the Big Fire Roll and the other the Tsunami Roll. We received miso before the meal which is always a welcomed treat. The portions of the rolls were huge! Not what we were expecting at all and the flavors were on point for each one. My plus one was only able to eat a few rolls of his due to the size of the roll and he ate the leftovers the following day and said they were still delicious. I really appreciated my roll due to the level of spice and flavor. I usually smother my rolls in wasabi and it was flavorful enough without that being added. We both agreed to come back to try some of the other menu items because it all sounded so delicious and if they can do sushi like that, I can only imagine how mouth watering the other dishes are as well. read more

Still one of my go to's, but I feel the need to update as I set the wrong expectations for people I take here. Alright, expectation reset. 1) It's not the best grade sushi in town. Look at their prices. But you get well over what you paid for. 2) Their house roll (the Phoenix) is a cooked and deep fried tuna roll. The tuna is somewhat on the dry side. I personally think it's decent for one of those complimentary rolls, but don't make this your main roll and you should be solid. 3) Their nigiri rolls (fish and rice only) have wasabi under them. I hate wasabi. I always ask them to remove it when I order. If I forget, I suffer having to scrape it off and still get strong wasabi flavor with my sushi. If you don't like wasabi...there you go. When I first parked, I was like oh man, are they even open because their windows are SO tinted. However, upon entering I was greeted to a very well lit restaurant. The ambiance is quite inviting but it can get a bit loud (this is probably since their business is so good). After dining here I understand why business is so good, as the portions are quite generous for the price point. For those looking for legit Japanese cuisine, I would probably recommend elsewhere, but if you are a lover of mayo and sauces, rolls, and rice then this place is for you! Agedashi tofu-Generous portions, but was sad that the batter didn't stick as well to the tofu, but the sauce was tasty mixed with the bonito flakes. Tempura udon-I actually enjoyed this udon as the broth wasn't overly salty, the noodles well cooked, and you get two pieces of tempura shrimp. Spider roll-This was a very filling rolling, lots of rice and a good amount of filling, especially loved the soft shell crab Ahi Tower-At first I was like hm this is kinda expensive...but then when it came out I was like woah, what a deal! For lovers of rice, ahi, kani, avocado, and sauce, this is the winning combination! (a couple asked for the table next to mine and was offered another) The experience, however, got me confused. At first a waitress took my order. There was no one at the host stand and several servers noticed me and didn't come. There was only 2 tables sat at that point and it was half an hour after open so they weren't busy, meanwhile there was a line of 4-5 parties forming behind me. Once we sat, they were rushing us to order. Came by ever 2 minutes or so to ask if we were ready when we were clearly reading the menu. I finally just gave up and tried to order, but as we are trying to order off the menu the man tried to take the menus out of our hand, we told them we need to reference so we can place our order and he walked away. The other lady was nice enough but it was an off putting experience. I had been here several times before a few years ago and never had a bad experience before. Pretty great sushi and bento, especially for the price. We've been coming here for lunch for a while now, and quality has always been incredibly consistent. My favorite is the tonkatsu bento box. The breading on the cutlet is incredibly crispy and granular, a perfect texture to go along with the tender pork. For two pieces of nigiri, 4 pieces of a california roll and 4 from a phoenix roll on top of the pork cutlet and rice, you're getting incredible value on your meal. It also comes with a bit of salad and miso soup, so you'll definitely be full after finishing. The salmon is pretty decent quality, and, for the 10 or so pieces of assorted sushi, is definitely worth it. First of all, customer service is amazing here! I didn't catch his name, but the man who answered the phone was super friendly and informative! I got the Tonkatsu with a side of spicy edamame. It was honestly such big portions, I was in way over my head! But everything was amazing, down to the sticky rice. Tonkatsu was crispy and juicy, the sauce was fire. I've been searching for a new go-to sushi place now that I've moved from Austin to Round Rock and this is definitely a contender! I got a couple of nigiri. The squid and mackerel was good, but the standout was the Yellowtail. It was AMAZING. I also got several rolls. The caterpillar roll, which is usually a favorite of mine, was slightly underwhelming as the eel sauce, which I usually love, was just okay. However, that was made up for by both the aforementioned yellowtail and, above all, their Paradise Roll. The tuna was fresh and the honey wasabi sauce was the perfect topper. We do love the food here but we have bad multiple experiences now with one server. My husband works a job where when hes busy I dont see him or have any contact with him so when we have 20 minutes 30 minutes 2 hours together we find the time and fun ways to spend it. We love this place we do. But this one male server we keep getting lately makes us so uncomfortable. We like to share Sake while we have some apps and chat. My husband enjoys a couple beers for himself while we dine as well. Sometimes we are on more of a time crunch. Everytime we go we enjoy a few things of sake split. This server has made it a point to humiliate us for drinking and to tell us he is counting what we drink and not okay with it! I have worked in the service industry for many many years and TABC certified over and over again. I can promise you this is NOT normal or okay.
