We stopped in to Grouchos deli for a quick lunch with our family. The restaurant has a cool, classic downtown vibe. It was a very hot day and we were grateful that the AC was wonderful! We were immediately sat in a comfy corner booth and our waitress was fabulous! She kept our drinks refilled and checked on us multiple times. My chef salad was delicious and my husband loved his sandwich. The kids meals were good portions and the kids enjoyed them. We would definitely go back again when in Greenville! read more

Great little deli in downtown Greenville. I tried the Apollo dipper And got both the f-45 sauce and the blue cheese on the side. Both were really good but I did favor the blue cheese. Tons of choices and I really would say there is something for everyone here. My little guy who is extremely picky was able to get a garden salad and some chips. read more

Ok....long story short...we were famished and didn't want to wander around to find something so we stumbled upon this location. Once inside there were only a few tables occupied so we sat down. For whatever reason they had table service (which I thought was a waste) but we ordered. The food was pretty good but a little pricey for a basic sandwich. This review is for the Greenville SC location. I ordered a toasted meal during my lunch. I was unable to eat the sandwich due to it being completely hard and burnt. I returned to the location to request a refund. The store clerk contacted her Manager and a refund was not offered, due to the burnt sandwich was not returned. This was the worst Customer Service and food experience that I have ever encountered. I would not recommend this location to anyone. read more

This review is for my favorite food item/ the only thing I ever order at Groucho's: the STP dipper with formula 45 sauce. It has a special place in my heart and I am partial to Groucho's because I grew up on it in Columbia,SC where the OG locations are. I always order the STP dipper (perfect ratio of turkey, roast beef, bacon bits and melted provolone cheese on a steamed bun , dipped in the formula 45 sauce which is sort of like a thousand island dressing but their own homemade delicious version. I even dip the chips in it- this is my tradition since childhood). I will say I'm not a huge fan of the potato salad side, or some of the other sides or menu items I've tried but that's ok because I really love my go-to!! The Apollo dipper with ham would be runner up in my opinion. I know some people I've talked to that didn't grow up on it feel it's overrated but I'm convinced they just need to stick with the dipper sandwiches and they won't be disappointed! read more

Two stars for the chicken in my salad, it was good. It wasn't even that crowded, yet it took over 45 mins., for our lunches to arrive. Understanding there were nine of us. Still, it took F-O-R-E-V-E-R (Sandlot Voice), for our drinks to arrive, then it seemed like an eternity for the dishes. Please make it make sense. The salads arrived in an oval plastic bowl on paper. Naw man, not for what you're charging, I/we deserve a bowl! It was messy as hell trying to keep the ingredients in that rubber canoe. Whose idea was it??? Salads like toddlers, are hard to reel in, you need a big o' bowl!!! Nope, not me again. I need a bowl. Also, please don't go there if you're hungry, I warned you. P.S. Groucho's Deli was the where I was taken as 16 year old on his 1st trip to Cola Town I 1976 and has been a fan since! The past few years being what they were - I passed Groucho's and thought I want an Apollo Dipper - on the menu: still the same and yet better! No one will ever replace the indomitable spirit of Bruce Miller , but his efficiency in serving large numbers quickly, with high quality food is by Groucho's daily. The restoration of the Greenville building was done well and the early 20th century vibe is there. read more

The crust was airy and light. The flavors on the pizza were good. They come in a 10" person size pizza. So, if you are really hungry for pizza, I'd suggest each person getting their own toppings. If you're not starving or conserving calories, you can split it. Just know, you might leave hungry. We also had the wings as an appetizer (split 4 ways). They were average as well. Not sure if order the wings again. Bottom line - Decent pizza but not the greatest I've eaten. A solid 3-stars. Bon appétit, y'all.

Hubs had the meatballs (which the server said they only had two left...a friend nabbed the others) and other friends had the moules (mussels) frites and the braised short rib IIRC. The *.frites were the biggest hits. My filet was perfect, Sharon was raving about her mussels being the best she's had in ages. I had a bite of the meatballs, they were ok but people agreed there are better things on their menu. I love that the frites come with a choice of 3 out of about 10 different custom mayos (aiolis for the fancy-schmancy). I tried the curry, sriracha, and a fruity one I can't remember exactly what it was. I liked the fruity one the best and to my surprise, the curry the least (I usually love curry, but the balance was off). The sriracha mayo was too subtle for me, I slather sriracha mayo on my burgers regularly. I have no class. The frites were fresh cut and I enjoyed them but there were far more than I could eat on my plate, and sadly frites don't keep. They have my favorite super sweet Lindemann's framboise lambic on tap; I've only ever had it in bottles before, so that was a treat. My husband thinks I'm crazy to drink it because it is SO SWEET but I love it. So does Sharon, and clearly we're not alone or they wouldn't waste a tap on it :). It's beer for people who hate beer. (I resemble that remark. Maybe hate is a strong word. But in my 30s I realized I'd rather drink a soda than a beer, except for this one.) Desserts sounded good but we were too stuffed to order any. Next time I come, I may try the mussels, or I might just order that steak again.

It's in a basement that feels like a pleasant dungeon or a 1500's rogue tavern, you know, the kind in the movies where plots to overturn evil rulers are hatched. It is a unique vibe and after your meal, when emerging back onto the brightly lit street, it's akin to stepping out of a secret place and back into the light of day. The beer selection is impressive. This food is Belgian inspired. Hence the name being derived from a mix of Trappist Monks, trap doors, and a hidden underground enclave. Many of the beers have higher alcohol content, listed on the menu, be advised. The specialty is Moules Frites, mussels prepared in various broths and fries double fried in duck fat served with a flight of your choice of flavored mayonnaise such as wasabi, curry, truffle, sriracha, etc. Very good. Reservations are highly recommended. It was a busy Thursday at 6:30pm and the place was literally packed, even the bar. The two of us were seated in a large, dark, alcove booth fitting for six or perhaps even eight. We had a reservation, so the hostess said, "we may as well fill it" since it was that crowded. Being such, it was five minutes before we were noticed and placed our drink orders, another five before our water arrived and we ordered and about 30 minutes later to get our food. In between we were left to ourselves. The service was not negligent, but it was minimal and not really friendly either. It was a busy night, so we will have grace. But the mussels were delicious. We both had the Provincale, a rich, savory, Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, garlic and white wine. Bourdain says "never order the mussels", in his Kitchen Confidential book, but here you are safe because they are very popular and the main feature. I've probably said this before and it is worth repeating, they need to up their crusty bread game. The broth is so good and the accompanying bread just doesn't lend itself to bringing the dish to another level, but it could were it better bread. This is a solid and must do restaurant experience when visiting Greenville. It arguably should be the "one" restaurant you must visit in town because of its unique ambiance and unique food & beverage.
