I always go back and forth between Midtown Pies and Momo's for my favorite pizza spot in Tallahassee. A slice is big enough for a meal for a person. All of the specialty pies I have tried are delicious. This is a great spot for before or after going to the midtown bars. This is also my choice pizza spot for take-out. read more

I've been here a few times and ordered something different each time. From the BBQ chicken to Philly cheesesteak pizza, I've always been impressed. Not a vast amount of alcohol available, but there's always something for me. Service is great. Hung out with the employees during a blackout once. read more

The pizza was amazing and I love the fact that they use shaved ham, which is cooked perfectly. I will definitely be returning for lunch and dinner in the future. The 10" vegetarian pizza was a rip off at $12.45. I just ordered black olives, onion and mushroom. There were minimal amounts of each and barely any red sauce. For the $12.45, I would at least expect plenty of the toppings. I won't be getting pizza from them again. read more

I LOVE Midtown Pies. The slices are huge, cheesy, and greasy. Sometimes too greasy, but that's not a bad problem to have. Just use a napkin. The lunch deal ($6 for two slices and a drink) is where it's at. I can't even finish both slices though, so just one slice (~$3.50) is a good option, too. This was the first pizza we tried upon moving to town a couple of years ago. It is good, but my husband complains that the crust is too thin to fill him up, especially given the price of the large we have to order to have enough food. We have friends who say the same. However, every now and then I get a craving for a thin crust and we order from them. After a few mishaps over the years, I think we are officially done with Midtown after tonight. The delivery man arrived at our door with the wrong order, and when my husband told him this, the guy just turned around and left! We assumed he would be coming back, but it was weird and off-putting. He came back with the correct order, saying he grabbed the wrong one and offered nothing else for the mistake. The food was ice cold. The garlic knots are good, but you only get 6. There are other places in town where you can get just as delicious garlic bread for a way better value. I don't know if they still have sandwiches on their menu, but they were terrible the one time we ordered them. Like I said, we won't be doing business with them anymore. read more

Just finished eating delivery from midtown pies. I ordered online, which was convenient. It took over 45 minutes, which isn't that bad (3.5 stars). We ordered the following: Garlic Knots - 4 stars - These were great. I prefer more garlic, but the texture and taste was good. Cheesy bread - 3 stars - These had potential, unfortunately, they lacked the cheese to justify calling them Cheesy! Breadsticks sprinkled with cheese is a more accurate representation of what we received. Sausage, Garlic, Pepperoni Calzone - 4 stars - Calzone was probably the highlight of the night. Next time I would ask for extra marinara. Man on a Buffalo Part 2 - 3 stars - This was decent. The gorgonzola turned me off. Thundebus - 3.5 stars - Meaty and greasy. Exactly what you expect from a meatlover pizza. Bacon/banana pepper/pineapple/jalapeño (extra crispy) - 2 stars - by far the biggest disappointment of the evening for two main reasons. First, it wasn't extra crispy. It wasn't even crispy. Second, they forgot the jalapeños. That sucked. Especially since I paid for them. Overall - 3.5 stars - The pizza has potential. The taste is good. Biggest complaints - They skimp in the sauce (BIG TIME). The crust is very chewy. I feel like if they turned up the oven it would cook better. The texture is far inferior to Momo's and Decent. I might give them another chance to see if it was the cook or just an off night. Not awful, not spectacular, but for $115 for that order, it should be magical. read more

Garlic knots, The White Sword (add the giant pepperoni they have) and an A+A Salad complete this magical pizza experience. Owners are terrific, hard working dudes always coming out to say hello and they get a star just for the amazing 8-bit nintendo decor. First and foremost, the pizza is SO good. Pizza originally came out a little less cooked to our liking (but probably perfect for other people). They placed it back in the oven with no issue. When our pizza came out the 2nd time, it was perfect. The pepperoni and sausage were large which made the pizza very flavorful. Service was great and the staff were friendly. Price is very affordable too. First time in and will not be my last. Highly recommend. read more

Went in kinda late after work to grab some food. I knew they were close to closing so made sure to tip and sat at the bar to wait on my food. At some point i saw all the employees gather around the oven and start throwing things onto the pizza cooking and laughing about it. Then one started grabbing pepperonis off and eating them. He then pulled the pizza out and tried to give it to me. Really disgusting and unprofessional for a place that I recommended others to and was supposed to be one of the "gourmet " pizza places in town. This is basically Gaines Street Pies just in Midtown. So whenever you're on the other side of town but still craving that delicious and tasty pizza you've come to love, there's one right by you. I like the Gaines Street location more but only because it is closer to more bars that I personally like (warhorse, grassroots) but this location is conveniently located by all the bars in midtown like fire betty's, fifth and Thomas, etc. This pizza is sooo good. Not traditional pizzas! Unique and creative pizzas with great toppings and sauces! 'The Pixie' is my new fave and might be one of best pizza I've ever had with thinly sliced breaded eggplant and smoked mozz. The 'Link's Favorite' is also very good eventhough it sounds weird to have saurkraut on a pizza it's a must try! Excellent combination of flavors with smoked Gouda, roasted red peppers, saurkraut and sausage(try it with the breaded eggplant or mushrooms instead of sausage for a vegetarian version! ) 'Freaks and Greeks' and The 'Figure 4' with figs and goat cheese are also great. I called in an order for pick up. The lady taking the order said give them 20 minutes. My husband gets there 30 minutes later, to see a tremendous line out the door. Apparently, its the line to take orders. My husband walks past the line to the counter, and tells the person at the counter that he is picking up an order placed 20 or so minutes ago. The person at the counter tells him he has to join the line where people are placing orders. He's confused, b/c he's already ordered on the phone. She says it doesn't matter he has to join the line. He calls me and is like "I am not waiting in a line out the door for this." I call the lady back thinking there must've been some miscommunication. She goes "Yeah, I told him we are swamped and we only have one register open. I'm sorry I can't take him before the people in line." WHAT? THEN WHAT THE F WAS THE REASON FOR PERMITTING CALL-INS? By time he would've gotten to the front of the line, the pizza would be COLD!!! And, who likes cold pizza? And if you are freaking SWAMPED as you say, then why not open MORE THAN ONE register? Midtown Pies is great! It's like Gaines Street Pies' big sister. The pizza is similar but a little more sophisticated. One of my favorite specialty pies is The White Sword. When I'm doing a create your own I always get their jalapenos. I don't know what they do to them but they're unlike any other 'peno in town. All their food is awesome. I also really enjoy their salads. This is a great place for lunch, dinner, or late night! read more

Always a go-to pizza spot for me, with way more than just your typical pizza. My usual order is the Metal Mike, but I'm also satisfied with the delicious Bowser sandwich, which tastes too good to give it the label of "sandwich" in my opinion. The buffalo chicken pizza is my new gameday favorite and the jalapeno poppers are way too good. You always wish you didn't offer to share them. The prices are a bit high for pizza & stuff, but once you taste the quality of the ingredients, you'll happily splurge for one of these over the chain pizza places anytime. read more

Alright, it hurts me to give this place a bad review but it has to be done. The good: The pizza is delicious and has always come out super fast. The bad: the past 2 times there has been hair in the pizza. The first time, a few months ago, a short brown hair was found in the toppings. Figured (maybe hoped is a better word?) it was a one time thing. Ordered again last night, and again there was another short brown hair in the toppings on both of the pizzas! Why midtown pies, why? Incredibly overpriced! This was one of the first Tallahassee locations I visited after moving here. The pizzas are inventive and tasty, however the restaurant needs to scale back its price point. $25! For a large pizza...that is not remotely large by anyone's definition is highway robbery. Most of their pizzas are not worth remembering, and taste like anything you can find anywhere else. However their "Honey I shrunk the pigs" pizza is very nice with the honey, candies jalepenos, and andouille sausage chunks. Once again it is not worth the price...AT ALL! read more

This is our FAVORITE pizza place in Tallahassee. The slices are huge and the price is right. They have tons of unique pizzas to pick from, or you can build your own. Nice selection of beers (on tap or bottled/canned), some decent wines, and pretty good sweet tea. GREAT garlic knots too. All three of the pizza places in this locally-owned chain of stores--Midtown Pies, Gaines St Pies, and Northwood Pies--are excellent. We always bring friends & family to try it when they visit from out of town and no one's ever been disappointed. Food is cooked quickly, too. read more

This place is terrible. $40 for a pizza and a calzone, and it took three times as long to prepare as they alleged over the phone, so that I spent a fair amount of my holiday standing around waiting for my order. Food quality and service relative to cost is generally poor in Tallahassee, but these guys are bad even by local standards. Long story short, not coming here again. I suspect other positive reviews may have been employees, a growingly popular abuse of the yelp system. read more

This review comes from a person who is not picky and who has eaten at the finest to the most pleabean eating establishments. The pizza is not great and over priced. I have spent $200+ here on pizzas trying to find a pizza worth something. Never found one and constantly disappointed. Some of the best pizza in town is 3 blocks away at decent pizza.
