Terrible business to work with. I am a local property manager and we needed a good used stove for one of our units in the midtown area. We agreed on a price and paid in advance. Raja, the owner was told that there were a few steps up to get to the apartment and charged extra for this. No problem until they arrived at the location and called screaming that I didn't tell them about the steps. Also complained about the size of the old stove that they agreed to remove free of charge. Long story short, we got the stove and had to pay an extra $100 for them to come back the next day to remove the old stove. Our tenant was appalled at the language that was used during this terrible interaction and felt very uneasy having these people in her home. Never use this business. The owner is rude, crude and should never be able to interact with the public. read more

CROOK! Raja at Midtown Appliance agreed to purchase my washer and dryer for $65. I knew the price was low, but I was in the process of moving so I accepted. He flaked twice, and when he finally came I was already gone and he tried to charge my uncle for picking up the equipment! He took the appliances but never Venmo'ed me the money and now isn't answering my calls. Just to warn you, this man is dishonest and I hope his karma bites him majorly in the ass!!!! I paid, and in about an hour, my appliances were at the front door. They went above and beyond to ensure everything fit and worked well. WARNING!! Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and COME HERE!! My husband and I rent and when our refrigerator started to leek, our landlord asked to call this place and go pick out a refrigerator. Mind you, our landlord does not live in the area, so he selected this location due to it being so close to the residence. When calling the store to arrange a meet for viewing their refrigerator, the owner stated new shipments hadn't arrived but to call back next week. Well, this went on weekly, for two months!! Finally after a long awaited "shipment" they were finally in and ready for us to come down and select the fridge. We went on a Saturday, business hours stated online and on their door were wrong, so we call asked when they would be open? Raj, the owner said 1:30pm. We left came and came back, but once again no one was there. so we called again and he said they went out to lunch, but would be back in 30. We decided to make an appointment the next day instead. Raj, said 2:00 pm would work. Come the next day, we arrived at 2:00 and no one was there! So when we called, he said his son should be there, but wasn't. Apparently he was out for lunch (lol). We said "wait, sir... we had an appointment? And this isn't how you conduct business". That must have hit a nerve or maybe his ego, because he flipped out and said, " well I know we had an appointment but what?! I can't help you, because of the virus" LMAO. Honestly, all we could do was laugh, because you can't make this stuff up. Who works or does business in this manner. A place that uses a business as a front. This place obviously doesn't care to make money, have respect for their business, customers or themselves and probably don't value their products. We are super patient people and honestly feel bad when speaking ill of a business... but this place, holy cow!! Well, let's just say... they are something else. Ok, I've got to throw this guy a bone here since apparently only people who've had bad experiences thought of reviewing this place. Here's the thing: this isn't a Sears Outlet. This is a hole in the wall used appliance store that keeps their front door locked even when they're open, but they will acknowledge your presence and let you in once they hear you mutter "are you f**king serious right now?". I needed a washer/dryer combo and didn't want to pay $1400 for a new one, and I needed it delivered, so this was pretty much my only option outside of taking a chance on Craigslist. I have a feeling he knew that. I narrowed it down to the unit I wanted; a 2014 Frigidaire gas dryer combo. Me: "What are you asking for this bad boy right here?" Him: "$550, it says right there" Me: "I see...is there any wiggle room on the price? I'd like to take it home today if we can work out a deal" Him: "Nope" Me: "Alright. Do you take Amex" Him: "LOL, no. Debit or cash only" Me: "Ok, I'll be back in 30" This is what happens when I don't wear my negotiating hat. Anyways, long story short: I bought it, he said it would be delivered (free) that afternoon and they'd hook it up for $45. They ended up getting tied up at another customer's house all night and didn't make it, but at least he called me to let me know. He then said he would deliver it first thing the next day, which he did, and waived the installation charge to make up for the late delivery (+ one star). Now I am writing this review while doing laundry without any pants on (because I'm washing them), and that's a beautiful thing. Well, not visually beautiful, but you know what I mean. Warning!!! I drove all the way across town because they said they had stackable washer and dryer. There business is advertised as being open until 8:00. I'm sitting out front right now and it's 5:53 and the place is not open. I see numerous old signs to call a number and the person that answers says he can come in a while. So it's oblivious this was not a one time deal and that they do not have regular operating hours and are not a real business. I find it disrespectful to waste my time and gas by having me drive across town like this. Not to mention that if I had a problem they do not have store hours. I purchased a refrigerator on 8/7/2020. When I received the refrigeration the bottom portion was not getting cold. I contacted them & they told me that it takes a while & it would be by the next day during the call he was very rude and continued to state that he had to be home for dinner & he wouldn't be able to come & look at it. The next day comes & get a little colder however still it was barely pushing air. This is my secondary fridge in my garage & this week it completely went out. I contacted them & they stated it was past my warranty & it would be $100 to look at it. Remind you I paid $150 for the refrigerator. My bf and I were looking for a fridge, and came across this place online. The woman (owners wife, I'm assuming) was very sweet, seemingly down to earth, and not pushy whatsoever. She told us two separate times that all of the refrigerators had been deep cleaned and sanitized. All the appliances were super packed together, which made it hard to look at them, or even open the doors. We decided on one in the back, that we peeked inside as much as we could. It was delivered later that night, and as soon as the guys left we opened the doors and was taken aback by the strong smell. There were 4 dryer sheets in both the freezer and fridge. We took a closer look, and you could see a tiny bit of mold coming out from under the shelf, which is screwed in. Immediately, I grabbed a screwdriver and took the insert out, to find it COVERED with blue, hairy mold. After we spent about an hour completely bleaching every inch of that fridge (which we would have done anyway, moldy or not) we called them. The lady said "ohh yeah, you can just wash it and itll come right off". Needless to say we assured her we did that already, and we just wanted to let her know some of them may have mold, and that maybe dryer sheets won't make mold magically disappear. Just be cautious, and take the time to look at what your buying. If you see a dryer sheet, move on to the next one :) read more

I emailed Midtown Appliances about a refrigerator I saw on craigslist. They replied to the email, and we followed up in person at their store. The shop was closed when we arrived and we weren't able to reach anyone on the phone number posted. Luckily, they got back from the delivery they were on and opened the shop while we were still waiting outside. I told the salesman/owner Raja our price range (less than $200), and he showed us about 4 fridges that would fit our needs. He was friendly and worked with us. We chose our favorite model and arranged for it to be delivered the following week. There was more selection available, although it's true that the aisles between the appliances are a bit tight. They delivered to our house in Davis for a fee, which I appreciated because we don't have a truck. The fridge was clean and working when it arrived. I would recommend Midtown Used Appliances for anyone on a budget or who wants to support a small business, with a caution that you may need to be more patient with them than you would with a larger Sears-style store. read more
