Presentation was nice; main entrees were average. The trout ($38) was prepared wonderfully, but the taste was bland (needed a spice in the breading, or a light sauce - something was neeeded). Love, love, love the food here! I got the duck with mac & cheese and snap peas, and let me tell you, it was delicious! It was also so much food that it was two dinners instead of one. Our table got the charcuterie board that was amazing (we are going back just for that tonight!) with a delicious bison sausage, a nice pate, generous pickles and cheese allotments, and other things too, I forget. My husband got the fried chicken and loved it, and our guests got the pork chop and ravioli. All was very good! Oh and the bread and butter and little corn bread muffins? To Die For! Service was perfect, I will try to get our servers name when we go back tonight so I can call out how awesome she was. We will be back every year at least once during our annual week in Park City. My only complaint is the building was hot, but it's old and that air conditioning struggles. They did their best with fans but we happened to go on a very hot day. Not their fault. The trout was cooked just right and the salad was fresh and filled with all sorts of goodness like jicama, pepitas, greens, etc... They also included some butter and small pieces of cornbread and sourdough with my order and at first I was just going to toss those out. My partner and I ate at Purple Sage for the last night of our Park City getaway trip. We scoped out a couple options on Yelp, but Purple Sage ultimately won us over due to its interesting menu options. We were not disappointed by our choice to check this place out. It was a very enjoyable experience. We went on a Tuesday evening mid-August and didn't have to wait for a table. We opted to sit outside on the back patio which was very nice. Lots of ambient lighting and live plants. For food we started with the Chicken Tamale Pancakes and the Rosemary & Sage Fries. For mains my partner got the Sugar and Chili Cured Duck. I got the Utah Trout. Everything was delicious. The fries were amazing - dotted with little pieces of fried sage, so yummy. The tamale pancakes were unique; definitely packed a flavor punch from the BBQ chicken. My partner loved his duck, said it was cooked perfectly. My trout was also delicious - the Serrano pan butter adds just the right amount of heat to the dish without making it spicy. Our biggest regret was not saving room for dessert! The dessert menu looked very appealing but we simply didn't have room for anything else. Next time we're in Park City, this place will be on the itinerary for sure. read more

Cons were two of our dishes were a bit salty / over spiced. Folks in our group have been here before and vouched it's not usually like that, but definitely was hard to swallow for the price. Blown away by this place! Food, service, atmosphere, decor, vibe and feel! Our dining experience here booked this place as my new favorite! I made reservations online through the Yelp app (highly recommended this gem of a feature) before arriving as I'm new to town just visiting and not sure how packed it would be 6pm on a Friday night. We were seated right away, chose the patio outside as the temperature was perfect! Everything on the menu was so descriptive, and difficult to narrow the options down! Our waitress was so kind and helped us through the choices, the house special for the night was the mahi mahi, and we immediately went with that and the pork tenderloin. We started with a beet & wedge salad, and enjoyed sampling the bread basket of sourdough & cornbread while waiting. The service was surprisingly fast, and the presentation of the food was on point. What a lovely restaurant! Purple Sage has been around for 20 years and still remains a popular option - and from the delicious, huge portions of New American food to the friendly service and beautiful, eclectic interior, it's easy to understand why. Our group of six was seated upstairs, in a more private part of the restaurant. Our server was quick, attentive, and patient even when we had trouble making up our minds and needed more time. She made great suggestions: I was a huge fan of the duck, which I ordered after her enthusiastic description of the dish. Other members of my party enjoyed the Utah trout and the pork tenderloin special, and we all loved the cheese and meat selection of the charcuterie board. We ended the meal with an ancho chili brownie, which packed quite a bit of heat! Portions were surprisingly huge - we basically shared one appetizer among six people and half of us could not finish our mains, even after a full day out on the slopes. We also enjoyed their cocktails - the table favorite was the lavender gin cocktail, though I personally thought the sage tequila cocktail was the best! I can't believe I've been walking by this restaurant for two decades and never thought to eat there. Spent a few days in Park city on vacation. This is by far the best meal I had. Complementary bread to start was good, not always a huge fan of cornbread but I can recognize that this had great flavors. The chicken tamale pancakes were absolutely delicious. Each one about is about the size of the palm of your hand, but are deceivingly filling. French fries were hot and crisp, very flavorful. Think of a McDonald's fry, but elevated and fresh. The trout dish was all perfectly cooked. Asparagus so tender and flavorful. The Serrano pan butter drizzled over everything added a nice subtle heat to the dish that just took it to the next level. That sugar and chili cured duck is a dish I will think about for a long time. So good, so tender and flavorful. I ordered mine cooked medium rare, and it was delivered more on the medium side without any pink, but I couldn't even complain because it tasted so tender that it really didn't matter. If I am ever back in Park city I will absolutely be coming back here and ordering the same meal. I would recommend anybody visiting Park city to absolutely put this on your list of must try restaurants. We visited in August and the weather was perfect to be able to sit outside on the patio. I can't remember the name of our server but all of the staff were seen helping all the tables. We had multiple different people coming by to clear plates and refill drinks. Enjoyed dinner outside under a shaded patio. started off with high west smash as this is High West country - there's a distillery and saloon here. it was light and refreshing, perfect for a summer evening. They offer corn bread muffins (small bite) and sourdough bread to start. Both tasty, though the corn bread is a little on the sweet side. it does have real corn in there. Ordered a few salads that were light, fresh and both came with a lovely dressing. One was a beet salad and the other a pear, cheese and almond salad. The pear was my favorite, though if you like beets, that was a really tasty one too. For entrees we ordered the meatloaf ... it's rich, a little spicy and very flavorful. We think it may be the chorizo that gives it a punch and the sauce on top adds another dimension. The roasted honey carrots were good, but a little crunchy still for us. The honey was just right ... not too sweet. We also had the duck confit which was heavenly ...again, another rich entree as it's cooked in its own fat, but the snap peas are light, crunchy and makes you feel you offset some of the guilt by eating veggies. The green chile mac and cheese was nice ... slight heat from the chiles, but overall well done as the pasta still had a bite and the cheese was ooey goey. I was in the mood for fish and ordered the trout. I enjoyed it tremendously though there is some heat for a kick in the butter sauce. Something about the salmon didn't quite seem right, but when combined with the rest of the dish it wasn't bad. I probably wouldn't get again. Valentine's Day dinner with my sweetheart was so good, it is hard to describe but I will try. The location is right on Main Street and we were lucky enough to get parking in front of the restaurant. Don't count on that. There is plenty of parking 1/2 a block away in the parking garages on Swedes Alley. When we walked in the smoky sent of the kitchen permeated the restaurant. Our mouths started watering and we smiled at one another. We were seated at a table near the front on the main floor. It was not a great table as it was near the staircases and there was a lot of foot traffic going by us but it was Valentine's Day. Our waitress, Stevie, promptly greeted us and brought us bread and took our drink orders. She was very smiling and welcoming even at the end of a long busy day. I will get my praising of Stevie now. She was wonderful throughout the meal always attentive but never intrusive always with a smile and great suggestions. I would definitely asked to be seated in her station next time. Marilyn ordered the roasted pork to see how it compared to the Ossobuco she had the previous night at the Star city Café. I ordered the Utah trout with mushrooms and green beans. When each of us took our 1st bite we both moaned a little bit with delight! I am a Pescatarian so I eat a lot of fish and trout when I can find it. This was 1 of the best trout dishes I've ever had. The breading had a light smoky flavor and the seasoning was just outstanding. The green beans were done perfectly and so were the fresh mushrooms underneath the fish. Marilyn told me the pork was even better than last night and I had to try at least a tiny bite (I figured why not? A little pork is not going to cause me any permanent damage) and it was remarkable. We took our time and thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which neither 1 of us could finish. They don't short you on the food at purple Sage. Our waitress Stevie came back and asked us if we would consider dessert and we of course said no. She said, "well you might as well take a look at the dessert menu just to see if you want to couple of bites of anything." She brought us the dessert menu and we couldn't resist and we had the bread pudding. Again, it was outstanding. We shared it and we did finish this between the 2 of us. Overall the experience was a total five-star! The park city dining scene has a lot of competition in the high-end restaurants certainly bring their A game. We both highly recommend purple Sage. Was in Park City for meeting and a group of us went here for dinner! Great choice. Understated but really great food and drinks. The server did a great job managing the 10 of us and we shared appetizers all around. The mains soon followed and the table ordered a wide variety of menu items. I had the trout (always order locally!) and was not disappointed. My colleague had the meatloaf and I have to say it looked (and he said it tasted) amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection, the steak was outstanding with goat cheese and herbs topped the cast iron plated steak. We chose this restaurant because it is a very romantic environment, a perfect evening! Favorites are the Butternut Squash Ravioli and Meatloaf - highly, highly recommended them. Also the carrots are really good and my mother loves the Chicken Fried Chicken. The decor is lovely and beautiful and they hire great people. We had the absolute most delightful waitress tonight. Lastly and most importantly they actually give you bread and really good bread at that! No paying ten bucks for substandard bread - Purple Sage takes care of you. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. It was my first time to Park City and this dinner set the stage for a great trip. It was delicious and my friends who had been to PC many times were mad they never found this place earlier. :) Stevie was our server and she was awesome! Great service, timed perfectly, and her wine suggestion was on point (dry rosé). I ordered the veal meatloaf, their signature dish. Large portion (I shared) and the meatloaf was delicious. Hearty and flavorful are the two words I'd describe my meal. My other friends had the butternut squash ravioli and the shrimp and polenta. We shared a side of green chile mac n' cheese, because yes. Purple sage was a great option in the park city area. We came after a long day of skiing and the meal really hit the spot. We browsed through the menu and four of us concluded that the duck looked fabulous. The portion size was also perfect for having been on the mountain all day. We decided to share some appetizers and ordered: Warm Housemade Potato Chips (Topped with pepper jack, Pointe Reyes blue cheese, and green onions): The chips were sliced lengthwise and it was super yummy with the pepper jack and blue cheese on it. Everyone loved this and was fighting over the last slice! Purple Sage Charcuterie Board: This came with the assortment of delicious hard and soft cheeses, prosciutto, salame and really good pickles. I didn't want to eat too much because I was craving my fried chicken entree. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken (Battered and fried boneless chicken breast topped with a chorizo country gravy, served with Dutch oven potatoes and sautéed green beans): I really liked this! I normally eat fried chicken thighs but the chicken breast was moist and juicy and the chorizo country gravy was nice to dip the chicken in. I reasoned with myself that I was also eating healthy by inhaling the crunchy green beans. Service was attentive and our server was so patient with us since it took forever to order since we were chatting up a storm. Several were available but something about Purple Sage spoke to me. It looked charming and the homemade chips sold me then I read about the chili brownie and that really sold me then I read about award winning meatloaf and that really, really sold me. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It gives off a charming, cozy, calming vibe. The food was superior to anything I've had in a long time. Food choices included: chips, meatloaf, shrimp entree, brownie, coffee, two glasses of red wine and the complimentary bread and butter. Oh the butter was so creamy and delicious!
