The wife and I came here for our anniversary to enjoy a pleasant dinner, which for the most part, we were not disappointed. The ambiance was overall nice, while the staff and service was great! The food was....sort of miss however, but what I mean by that was that our entrees weren't all that great. To start out though, we did enjoy the Pub-fare items which were the Chick-chacks and the calamari, with both of them being amazingly good and the best part of our experience. The entrees were the T-bone lamb for me and the Lavender Orange chicken for my wife. I had asked for the lamb to be medium, but was extremely rare and the potatoes weren't at all that good with it. The Brussel Sprouts that accompanied it however, we're pleasantly tasty. My wife's Orange chicken was a hard pass, with the flavor just being gross and the texture just not good. If we were to go back, my wife and I will just stick with the Pub-fare items, as they seem to be far better then the entrees. read more

Great food and environment you will not be disappointed. I love the ambiance and customer service.

Me and my whole family LOVE "The Merc" when my brother visits from Iowa we go every time. The crusted pork tenderloin is unbeatable and probably my favorite food I've ever had. The servers have consistently been kind and energetic. I recommend everyone goes at least once! read more

First timer and last timer. Went at lunch and the service was SLOW. Slow to bring water, slow to take order, and slow for food to arrive. The prices are about double what they should be for portions. The Shepard's Pie was not only small but dry (not gravy inside), mostly mashed potatoes and "lamb" filling lacked and true flavor. The two pies were ok but crust appears to be premade. Very disappointed. Recommend...try elsewhere. read more

First time here. I'm sure I've had a better meal somewhere, but not sure where/when. The ambiance was lovely, and the evening was cool enough to sit outside. Started with a glass of wine and a lovely New Fashion, their take on an old fashion. I asked for bourbon forward an they nailed it. Our server Justin helped us negotiate a fairly extensive menu where everything looked delicious. This is definitely a place anybody could find several radically different things to eat. After deliberation, we went with the halibut and the lamb. Halibut was beautifully presented with a light curry sauce and panko toping that blended perfectly over rice, with fresh spinach on the side. My wife cleared her plate! I went with the lamb... I cannot possibly recommend this enough. Getting lamb cooked right is... rare (not to make a pun). Cooked perfectly med rare in-bone, and served with a lovely parsnip laced root whip and perfect brussel sprouts. And it had to be the largest lamb portion I've ever had. Alas, only had enough room for one dessert and went with the strawberry rhubarb crisp. Lovely a la mode. Owner/Chef John visited our table and actually talked with us (not simply the "is everything fine?"). From the two lovely young people who greeted and sat us, to Justin, to John, the only thing better than the people was the food. Wish I could give our evening 6 stars. read more

This was our favorite place for dinner while snowboarding in Utah. Such an amazing story, the essence of this place was delivered so eloquently by the owner who greeted guests in the dining room to ensure they are enjoying your visit. I asked about the history and receive a very kind and full story. An absolute must if you are visiting! read more

Stepped by for brunch today and our table tried thier eggs Benedict, veggie omelet and biscuits and gravy. The eggs Benedict was disappointing as the eggs were overcooked :(, the other dishes though were great! We finished off with a slice of their apple pecan pie, it was also slightly disappointing with super soggy bottom crust. read more

Horrible ambiance. Uncomfortable seating, extremely slow servers, inexperienced hostess and a bit overbearing bartender.. Waited 20 minutes for water after being seated. Waiter didn't offer specials or ask for drink order. Extremely disappointed for a special birthday dinner. DJ was a horrible waiter. Seemed to not care at all about serving us or checking to see if food was good. Mussel/Clam appetizers has the makings of being good, however very overcooked. Main dish, tacos were luke warm, Salmon entree came cold. Couldn't get anyones attention...had to wait 10 minutes finally got DJ's attention. No apology or attempt to make sure we were happy. Husband completely finished dinner before mine was replaced. Not a good experience at all. Bus boy was so fast. He seemed to be the only one with experience. Our waiter never came after the meal was given, waited for 26 minutes. Eventually got the bill. Cannot recommend at all. read more

It's finally time I write this overdue Yelp review. A month after they opened we had dinner at MM--only to be disappointed in the service as well as food quality (honestly--I couldn't cut through my lamb even with a steak knife!). I wrote a letter to the owner in hopes of sparing embarrassment with a Yelp review since they'd only been open a month, but like the food & service from that night, the response from the owner was underwhelming as well! Did I expect an invitation to come back and enjoy a meal at a discounted price or even FREE--Yes! Moving on....since that original visit I've returned for both lunch and dinner, but one thing or another has caused it to always be underwhelming (just like the owner's written response to me....). Took a friend to MM last night for dinner only to be disappointed by the food. I ordered the lamb chops which were brought out literally swimming in a sea of the advertised dijon sauce! I'm not exaggerating--absolutely swimming. My carrots were undercooked--and also swimming in said dijon sauce. My friend ordered the salmon with a side dish of grits. What was originally delivered was NOT grits--it looked and tasted like mushroom soup. Even though the server told us that the kitchen staff assured her they were their grits, my friend asked that they be sent back. Lo and behold a few minutes later grits were delivered. Amazing how that works! The service this time, however, was GREAT--our server was jovial, made us laugh and was completely attentive throughout the night! Suggestion: I would consider MM 'fine dining' so I expect not to be delivered an empty box in order for me to package up the leftovers myself. Please take away my plate and box it for me. And, wouldn't it be lovely if a MM sticker saying something clever, cute or even 'thank you' be placed on the outside of the box when it is returned. I was hoping not to have to write this Yelp review, but if the owners really are Seattle restauranteurs, then please bring some of that foodie experience to Midway! Tick, tock....waiting.... read more

I've came here twice, and I'm definitely coming back! My server which was a guy from Boston was amazing! He made the experience so relaxed and fun. We loved it. The restaurant seems pretty big and they have different areas. I've sat next to the patio and the bar and loved both. They charge for bread, but it's really good! The last word was a great cocktail ( but I think they don't have chartreuse). Dessert wasn't impressive though. They take walk ins too! Try to make a reservation. The hype is worth! read more

Delicious fresh menu, a gorgeous restaurant space with a beautiful mountain view. After a long day of tubing at Soldier Hollow we were in search of a nearby sit-down restaurant with a nice wine list, a quick Yelp search directed us to Midway Mercantile. The salmon avocado toast was delicious- super fresh smoked salmon, beautifully ripe avocado atop a fresh bagel. The entire crew gave an enthusiastic thumbs up, my son especially tickled over the extra attention he got from the waitstaff. After ordering his lunch the chef/owner (?) came to the table to enlighten us on Utahs famous fry sauce, whipped up a fresh side and delivered it back to him. Just another neat little memory for us to bring back to Florida. read more

Closes at 10 pm. Arrived at 9:30 and the hostess told us they were already closing the kitchen.

Great food, quick service and amazing ambiance. I highly recommend this place for dinner.

Fantastic food, fantastic service, great ambience all the staff are so kind, they go up and beyond expectations for all guests! We came from La for a ski trip and goodness had the most delicious ribeye steak cooked to perfection! The meal and service were so good we came back the following night!! We came for brunch for our first time ever being at the mercantile and it went okay. We made a reservation however we were the first ones to show up. We ordered our kids food first because they were so hungry, the waiter came back after a few and we placed our order. A new table came and sat down just then. Our kids food came out so we waited patiently for ours. The table that sat down after we ordered had just received their food. The waiter had not been back to check on us. It took 45 minutes but someone finally came and told us that the kitchen lost our ticket and they were making our food now. Not a great first impression. I understand tickets get lost and stuff happens. I worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years but when you only have 10 tables sat in the whole restaurant and you just opened for breakfast you want to make sure everything runs as close to flawless as possible. Especially for customers like me. Ive been trying to find a breakfast place i like in this valley to go to every weekend with the family and we live right down the street from the mercantile. Not sure I'm willing to try their brunch again. When the food finally got there the Benedict was okay. They threw it together quickly and you could tell. read more

2nd visit: Backyard patio really nice with some sun and some shade. Pizza not as good this time - way too much crust. Scallops and the accompanying black rice with sauce was outstanding. I just would have liked more veggies. Summer Salad with salmon was excellent. 1st visit: Calamari was not so great. Rubbery. And not enough sauce - which wasn't as tasty as most I've had with calamari in the past. Grains and greens salad was excellent with a generous amount of delicious Drgoat cheese. Not enough dressing, but the server was happy to bring more and did so promptly. Goat cheese and pear pizza appetizer was good - again, generous amount of Drake goat cheese. Cocktail with locally distilled spirits, Kombucha, agave and lime was outstanding! Vegetarian entree was just several piles of different veggies. All tasted good, but I would have preferred an actual dish with some sort of sauce. My husband enjoyed the shrimp and grits, and was happy they made it less spicy for him. Dessert Sundae was yummy. read more

What an absolute delight. We only had entrees, but they were both amazing. My husband had the Parmigiano-Crusted Pork Tenderloin. The pork was tender with a crisp crust, and the combination of flavors is so unique, thereby winning a spot in the best-things-I've-ever-eaten list for both of us. My entree was the pasta special, which was seared scallops in a lemon cream sauce with charred tomatoes, spinach, and chanterelles. All served over the loveliest fresh fettuccine and accompanied by crusty toasted bread. WOW. It was so delicious. And lest you think it sounds too rich--it's perfectly balanced with the tomatoes and spinach. Our server, Judy, was also lovely. Just the perfect amount of attentive. With Midway's twinkling Main Street just outside the window, the mid century modern/industrial styling, and casual vibe, the atmosphere was so inviting. Hands down a new favorite for us. If you can escape to sweet Midway, you must enjoy a meal here. It's likely to join your best-meal-eaten list too! read more

Overall great experience! We had their burgers and fish tacos and they were very good. Beer is super cold and the service is great.

Food was very good. Servers were very nice though the service was a little rocky. I had ordered an appetizer which never came though I wasn't charged for it. One of the salads my party member ordered did not come with the chicken he added on, though it was on our bill. All staff members were extremely kind and welcoming. Would go back. read more

Dinner was spectacular at this hidden gem. The vibe is local with sophisticated meals and farm to table simplicity. More than that our server Justin was a true delight. This cute little restaurant is a nice spot to stop at for a quick lunch. We got the cheeseburger, the soup of the day, and for dessert the ice cream Sunday. The service was exceptional, the burger was amazing and the aioli sauce on it was to die for. The ice cream was cream, the hot fudge was the best part. The soup on the other hand wasn't that great, it was broccoli and it lacked salt, which is understandable since you can add your own salt, but it had a very grainy texture that I personally couldn't stand. Besides the soup being the only negative, overall the prices are on the cheap end, we had window seats that were very cute and service was great. Would go again and order something else. read more

The Food and service was wonderful, they accommodated a reservation for 11. We sat outside and it was very nice.

Let's start with the wife and I had decided to not give this place a try based on the feedback from a good friends experience. As fate would have it another establishment that we were planning to visit was unexpectedly closed so we figured what the hell. Man that was a mistake. The menu options read very well, enough to make your mouth water. Sadly the finished product lacked any distinct flavor. Might as well have eaten the menu. Our real problem, the reason we will never go back, was the service. More to the point, the lack of service. It was extremely slow; drinks, food, condiments, etcetera took forever to come out. And lord forbid you ask for anything as we were met with an attitude. And of course there was an order mistake as well. If they had been slammed I could make an excuse but there were only a handful of tables occupied. This was almost a carbon copy of our friends experience, wish we would've taken their word and not wasted our time. read more

Wonderful menu, great service, and a beautifully restored building make this restaurant my favorite spot in Heber Valley. Menu is varied with a lot of creative options on top of popular favorites. It is the only restaurant, in my opinion, in Utah that knows how to prepare fish. Never overcooked, seasoned perfectly. I love the trout and the halibut dishes. My favorite steak is the hangar steak, but also love the pork tenderloin. Great selection of salads, stone hearth pizza, burgers, appetizers, desserts (try the pies) and the best bartender - Kyle - in the valley. Kudos to Chef John for creating a gem in this little town of Midway. Food and service that you'd be lucky to find in Park City or Salt Lake City. read more

My husband and I were in Midway over this past weekend and had the pleasure of dining here for dinner Sunday. Our server Theresa was friendly, accommodating and so fun. I've read some of the recent negative comments .... These don't reflect my experience. Just enjoyed a late afternoon lunch. The hostage explained as I entered they were short on servers. I prepared for a bit of a wait but within 5 min I was seated and the same hostess immediately took my drink oder. Rachel my server showed up soon thereafter, took my order and was very pleasant and welcoming. Food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. Now I know these are crazy times for restaurants, especially when in comes to staffing but had I not been warned when I arrived I would had thought my limited wait was normal. So happy we have this upscale gem in our little city of Midway. read more

Food was good but a little on the pricey side for what you get and I'm all about paying a little more for locally sourced food. Also I ordered takeout twice here and both times they forgot to add in utensils which makes for a bummer eating experience because you spend so much time looking for utensils that by the time you eat it it's cold. I was on vacation here and didn't have utensils handy. My husband also got fish (not pictures) and I ate the caper/kale/veggie side and it was soooo greasy. read more

Best cranberry and turkey sandwich I've ever had with super thick pieces of turkey and just amazing flavor. So so good! Also, the pear and goat cheese pizza and the duck leg are all great too! The only negative was that the portions were strange - my turkey sandwich was huge and then the lamb shepherd pie that my husband ordered was so so small - like 4 bites and it was all gone and it cost more than my sandwich. We were disappointed by such a little amount of food costing so much money. Anyway, I guess you should ask how much food the dish is before eating it otherwise you will feel ripped off. read more

Very limited menu. We were really hungry and there aren't that many options near here. It's a very different menu. I had the chuck chacks which are basically chicken nuggets. They were really good. So we are locals to the area-there just isn't a lot to choose from if you are looking for a medium price point. We decided to go for lunch. All the menu selections looked really interesting. We chose the fondue to start- I got the turkey sandwich and my husband got the trout. Then we waited. And waited. We came in around 11:45 and then finally around 12:25 we were served the fondue. Unfortunately we were then served our meals about 5 minutes after the fondue. That is one of my husband's HUGE pet peeves. It worked out as neither of us turned out to be fans of the fondue. There was something off putting about the texture unfortunately and once the comparison to something gross was made there was no going back for me. Anyway- the turkey sandwich was definitely the best part for me. My husband liked the trout ok but said he probably would try something different if we were to return. We did not sample desserts as it was a longer lunch than we were intending. Thus the 3 stars. Not bad, but not so great that we were like, wow, we have to come back! read more

It wasn't too long ago that dining in midway consisted of The Homestead, Tri Mart, or the Timp Freeze (Rip). This place is solid. Great wine list. '13 Jordan Cab?!? That's a collectors item. Somebody knows what they are doing. Cocktails are pricy but crafty and fancy. The beer selection was a good mix of local brews on tap and some good bottles of +3.2 Our party of three shared a salad, pizza, burger, and pasta entree. We all LOVED our meals. The pasta dish was one of the best I've had in a while and the spring salad was off the chart. I don't get the bad reviews. read more
