We started coming to this restaurant about a year ago. Food and service was great - something had gone way wrong. Last time we ate here we had terrible service and the food was sub par. Tonight we picked up a pizza and calamari. Pizza had no sauce and tasted like a cracker. Calamari was awful- will not be returning to this restaurant. read more

Very creative dishes with fresh ingredients. Nice vegan menu. I got the sesame orange and lavender dish - I really like lavender so thought the rice was good but it was definitely on the stronger side. The veggies were perfectly roasted. read more

Food, service, ambiance and staff are all amazing! A new local favorite, we loved eating on the patio.

It's obvious this establishment judges you based on how wealthy you appear. If you don't have a reservation, don't bother. Your whole experience will be disappointing. We look forward to trying new places when we travel and often research places in advance. This time we changed our mind last minute when we saw the Mercantile. The ambiance seemed great and it had good reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was so frustrating and beyond disappointing. When I walked in, ONE table was seated (it was minutes before the rush began). I asked the hostess, Dana, for a table for two. Upon learning that I did not have a reservation she said all she had available was a high top table at the bar. I said that would be fine. At the same time three people walked in and when she learned they had a reservation she prioritized them over us...and then again... and again...and again. As time passed, I should have walked out, like the guy behind me, and spent our $120 elsewhere. A simple acknowledgement or apology would have been nice. The folks who did have reservations would have NEVER known that we didn't. All she had to do was seat us quickly and go back to the others who were waiting. My husband decided to walk towards the bar to seat himself (where it was completely empty). Dana said she would bring us menus and never did. The bartender, Bob, was kind and did take care of us to a point, but it was clear the bar was understaffed this evening. We watched the dynamic of the other staff with Bob and the annoyance was palpable. The bar had well over 25 dirty glasses stacking up and everyone just stared at them. The drink tickets were backing up and only two people stepped in to help while the others just glared. All this means is Bob was occupied with other responsibilities and conversations and didn't have time to serve us water or give us our check at the end. Fortunately, Larry, stepped in to help knowing we had been waiting patiently. Others guests passed through the bar before they were seated and were treated with such urgency/priority. One of the women that came in had a cocktail named after her and it was clear they would have rolled out the red carpet for her. I just couldn't believe the judgement and disrespect the staff had towards us and others. Perhaps it's because we weren't local. We have absolutely no problem spending money on food, but this experience was not worth $20, let alone $100+. I worked in the service industry for a few years and it's obvious that this place lacks proper management and teamwork. Judgement, however, is something your team has mastered, so kudos to you if this is how you want to run your business. read more

We had our wedding here and John and his staff were absolutely fantastic. It was too cold to have it outside (which was what I had hoped for) but the back rooms for the ceremony and our dinner turned out perfectly. I couldn't have picked a better location. Thank you, John, for your hospitality and for making my day so special. ‍‍ read more

I don't know if this place is good or not. Was going to meet a friend who has lunch here last week and there was a sign stating they coudlnt serve brunch/lunch until they had more servers. I'm writing this to let others know not to drive an hour for lunch only to find they have to go elsewhere or wait until 5pm. read more

Super yummy. Reasonably priced beer pints, large variety, locally sourced bites, and very cool ambience. Great for the whole family. Shared a couple bites of the cheeseburger, the pork tenderloin, pepperoni pizza, and fish tacos. All excellent, but the pork tenderloin was our favorite! read more

I've told so many people how great this place is and we've enjoyed dining here for years. Thank you Midway Mercantile for making us so mad that we went elsewhere and vow never to return. Had it not been for your rudeness, we would have missed an AMAZING lunch at the Blue Boar Inn. Today we stopped at the Midway Mercantile for lunch. There were numerous open tables. The host told us that their kitchen was running behind so we'd need to wait about 10 minutes before ordering. We told her we were fine waiting an extra 10 minutes before ordering, said we understood about the kitchen situation and asked for a table. She said, "No! You can wait here or wait outside." I looked at all the empty tables and asked, "Can't we just wait at a table??" Reply, "I'll ask my manager". She disappeared, came back and said we could wait at the bar. I said we were here for lunch, I'm immune-compromised, and don't want to stand close to people at a bar. They had multiple tables that were somewhat spaced away from other tables. I asked the difference between waiting at the bar vs. just waiting at our table. She snapped "YOU HAVE TO ORDER FOOD." Well yes, we're here for lunch so of course we are going to order food and, again, we understand we may need to wait 10 minutes or so before we can order. We just wanted lunch! I want to be clear. This individual was not remotely courteous. We are in our 60s. It was almost 90 degrees outside. We were neatly dressed and groomed. We were hot. Maybe we might have liked to sit down and have some water, iced tea, a soft drink to cool off while we waited. She treated us like deadbeats that had the nerve to walk in the door and request a table for lunch at a time when it appeared that half the tables were empty. She finally begrudgingly took us to a table. By that time, my husband and I were so irritated, that we just decided to leave. What we feel she should have done was explain the situation, seat us at a table, allow us to have some water and order an iced tea, soft drink, whatever while we waited. I'm not suggesting they comp us; just let us sit down, wait and cool off. We passed a man on the way out that identified himself as the owner. We told him we were leaving, did not understand what the issue was, and why the host had treated us so poorly. He muttered something about bringing us water but the damage was already done. We have enjoyed this restaurant since it opened and are very sad to say we will not be returning. A few minutes later, we were seated at a lovely table on the shaded veranda at the Blue Boar Inn. They welcomed us. They gave us a table. They brought water! We enjoyed beautifully presented ice tea/lemonade drinks, clam chowder, and delicious salads. The food was fabulous and the service was delightful so they will have our business and referrals from now on. P.S. The staff do NOT wear masks as advertised above. The only ones in this establishment wearing asks were my husband and me. Could it be that this host person is an anti-masker? read more

OMG! Everything that we tried was absolutely delicious. The service was amazing too. We ordered calamari and beet dip as an appetizer. Wow, so good! That beet dip is insane. My husband ordered two pizzas, in a small version, the margarita and the Mexican rajas. Wow wow wow, extraordinary both of them. I ordered the salmon, and honestly the best one that I have tasted. So good! This is a Must place to go and have a good dinner. read more

Haven't wrote a review for a while but the food, the atmosphere were so outstanding that I had to. Makes me want to meet the chef and get his/her autograph. We ordered the calamari and and it was lightly battered that came with siracha aioli and some lemon slices if you like it tangy. The lamb shepherd's pie was on point- no too lamby taste if you know what I mean and finally the trout was grilled to perfection and it tasted like seawater fish rather than freshwater fish. This is definitely a place for you to bring a date, family get togethers and also when you wanna treat yourself. read more

We ate here on a beautiful day in a beautiful part of Utah. I was happy to see they had great seating outside so that we could enjoy the nice weather. The service was good and the food was good as well. The fish we tried was some of the best fish I've had in Utah; it was cooked to perfection and was seasoned tastefully. The cheeseburger with local cheese was good as well, but as far as great burgers go it wasn't knock-your-socks-off. The meat was a little bland although the cheese made up for that a bit. They serve seasonal pies for dessert. We tried the pear pie, and it was really delicious. It was a bit heavy on the ginger, which I didn't especially mind but will most likely be an issue for some people. But overall it was really, really good, every part of it obviously made from scratch. All of the food was good or great, but some of it just didn't have that touch of greatness needed to warrant five stars in this price range. I really enjoyed the experience though and would come back if we're in the area again. read more

Delicious American fare for dinner. Our group tried the steak, pastas, salads, pizza, shepherd's pie and fish tacos. Our favorites were Sandra's classic salad (love that cheese!), Olson lamb shepherds pie (beautiful curry flavor), cornflour dusted calamari (great aioli), beef tenderloin filet (perfect) and parmigiano-crusted pork tenderloin (on noodles). Great flavor and presentation across the board. The menu has something for everyone, including a crusted list of bar eats. Ambiance is lovely with an amazing mountain view and a roaring pizza oven. Great spot for a date night or special occasion. But also open for a casual lunch and brunch. I'm really excited for this place to come to Midway and I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing friends. read more

Surprisingly the pizza was delicious!! We asked for extra cheese and it was perfect. The atmosphere was great. Our server sandy was sweet! Female bathroom is cute and clean. Only issue was the lemon ginger apple pie crisp gave my bf an allergic reaction and his throat was closing in and he is only allergic to peas so that was really weird. read more

This restored building tucked away in Midway,UT is our favorite go-to restaurant in our side of Utah. Details including the well-thought, seasonally-changing menu of delicious entrees created from John Platt (owner), to the creatively crafted drink menu by Kyle (bar manager), make this a gem of an establishment. This is a 5-star taste bud experience of a night!!! read more

What an excellent hidden gem of a restaurant! Food was excellent. So many great options. Beautiful place. The best touch was the Chef-Owner, John, who came to greet us and was so incredibly friendly and passionate about every item on the menu. He took our drink order, and chatted with us for a few minutes. He was just a delight! Dessert was also spectacular. Will certainly be back when we're back in town next year! read more

The food was OK, but our family party of seven experienced an extremely rude act by staff that had never happened to us before. After our main course was finished and while we were still waiting for dessert a staff member came over to tell us that another party will need our table in seven minutes. Up to that time we had been very patient with slow service, both from our waitress and from the fairly slow preparation of the food; so the length of our stay was caused entirely by the restaurant. We proceeded to order our desserts when the waitress came to take our order, and we waited a while after finishing to get our check and have it processed. When I noticed a person, who was apparently the manager for the evening, I mentioned to him the rude event and he apologized and said it was a mistake. A mistake like that should never have happened, and if it does happen, an major apology should be made immediately without us having to bring it up; and the staff member who offended us should have been required to personally apologize for his rudeness. read more

Midway newest gem. Great location, beautiful inside decor. These experienced restaurant owners have moved here from Seattle and have picked Midway to open their new business. We came on the first weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The dinners were fantastic. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. My wife had the pork tenderloin and loved it. Looking at their menu you can tell this isn't their first rodeo. From fish tacos, Shepard's pie, pizza and great steaks, there's food for everyone. Even a kids menu. You'll love the service ! This is a great new restaurant on Midway Main Street. They have an excellent, tasty menu. We came with a large group for a birthday and they easily accommodated us. We started with the calamari which was very light and done perfectly. Not rubbery at all. Then I had the shepherds pie. It has a nice curry flavor and the meat was very juicy. My wife had the handmade pasta, which was gnocchi with pesto, apple, and walnuts. Very delicious! We'll be back and I can't wait to try their brunch menu. read more

Driving from Las Vegas to Evanston, Wyoming, we needed a restful stop combined with a delicious dinner. We found great food and a charming ambiance at the Midway Mercantile restaurant. We sat inside even though the patio was very inviting. Our meals were outstanding! I had a watermelon salad in which the watermelon cubes had been marinated in a unique mint marinade. The trout had a mild flavor and was served over a german style warm potato salad. Yummy! read more

The meal was pricey but very good and the service would have been good if the bartender hadn't come into the dining room like a bull in a China shop determined to change the tv to tune into a different football game...which was fine...except that he was screaming across the dining room to one specific table as if there weren't other tables in the room. The other problem, and this was a BIG PROBLEM, was that none of the waiters, the bus people, or hostesses were wearing masks. If even only one of these people happened to have Covid, then they'd be spreading it to every table in the place. It's just not acceptable in ANY restaurant, particularly a high priced restaurant, that employees who serve food and bend over tables, can't do a simple thing like wearing a mask. By not doing so, they become part of the problem instead of being part of the solution. Shame on management for not requiring it. The restaurant boasts healthy farm-to-table food, but doesn't really care about patron's health. read more

Let me start with The food deserves 5 stars. The service initially was a 1 star and progressed to a 5 star when Jaime the manager took over. Our waitress must have been overwhelmed because we didn't see her for 30 min after our drinks were delivered. We asked the hostess to place our dinner order and she was very apologetic. Jaime the manager took over at that point and she made things right. Overall service was very slow and food was exceptional. We went on a Monday night at 8 pm. We had to wait 15 min without reservations, so make reservations read more

This was our first time dining here on a Tuesday night around 7:00. We waited a minute at first to be seated, the hostess was helping the servers as best she could. She offered us the nicest table by the fireplace and we were able to order drinks and apps in quickly. Our sever was awesome, apparently they only had 2 on working that night and the restaurant was pretty full. While there was a wait on some drinks, food came out in a timely fashion and everything was delicious. I'd recommend the margarita pizza and we loved the daily pasta special and chefs cut choice was an amazing ribeye. If you're patient and appreciate good food try it out here! read more

My husband and I came to Midway for a little weekend getaway. On the first night, we decided to stop here for a late dinner. We ordered the Summer pizza appetizer with chicken, red onions and cheeses. It was so good. Then we shared the special ribeye which had a ton of flavor and was cooked perfectly. We liked the restaurant so much we decided to go back the next night. This time, we started with the calamari. Others have said it wasn't good. We disagree. It was not overcooked which is the most common problem with calamari. It wasn't too greasy and the sauce was really good. My husband ordered the halibut with the yellow curry. I got the Parmesan crusted pork tenderloin. Both were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We finished up with blueberry pie. Nothing was bad about this place. The food, the service and the ambiance were all very nice. read more
