Really wanted to like this place. The customer service was great but the hotdogs were the opposite. Both my husband and myself taste the hotdogs and did not like them. They had a peculiar taste. Tried the wings and they were just average. Didn't taste really fresh. Maybe the issue was that we asked for a beef hotdog but whatever we received it was really not good. read more

I first saw the purple Midwest Coney Connection food truck months ago, and from the Yelp reviews, wanted to check it out. On my way home today I saw the lights and OPEN sign were on...but per the SnowBall man next door, Chef Rico had just left! Turns out he needed more fries for the Friday night rush! So I waited and he soon returned. I wasn't sure what to order, so Chef Rico went thru the menu. What a nice guy, and great customer service! Went today because there aren't any home cooked type places in the area. We ordered the cheese dog & lil gip special (Philly egg roll, seasoned fries & 5 signature wings) - i ordered lemon pepper wings. FIRE is an understatement. My niece got the American hot dog - she's 12 so ya know - they are super basic. Next time i go back I'll try the Philly cheesesteak and the drinks. I don't think i would of had enough room this time. These hot dogs are D E L I C I O U S!!!! I ordered two chili dogs. One was a "dry" chili, and the other one was a "wet" chili. Super tasty, juicy and moist. Meet is not dry at all. This is the best dog in town, period, end of sentence. The hot dog itself was very good with the proper natural casing snap! I personally preferred the Flint style Chili. Think good chili sans the all the "soupiness". The first bite took me back to my childhood and a hot dog stand in CA. Kudos to this entrepreneur. I found this gem on yelp and was immediately drawn to it due to the fact that these are midwest coneys, my husband is from Detroit and loves a good coney. These coneys met every expectation! The Detroit chili is amazing, no beans with great texture and flavor! My husband said they rival Lafayette and American coneys, and if you are from the Detroit area, you'll understand. We had to come back a few days later and place a larger order for my family who came to town. We couldn't stop bragging and had to show them what this place is about. The chili. The dogs with natural casing. The fries. The Better Made chips. The Faygo. This list goes on. VERY SATISFIED! We just ate chili dogs with crinkle cut fries and BBQ chips. Delicious! The owner was such a great person. He was friendly and polite. We ate in our car and liked the food so much, we went back for a milkshake and a root beer float from Tutti Treats in the same truck. I got the combo which is one of each: the Detroit and the Flint Coney with fries and a drink(cold 12oz. can of coke for me). All around, it was really good. The Flint was great but the chili draped on top of the Detroit dog just wasn't the same as home. I'm from Detroit originally and we have great coney's there. Midwest Coney was amazing! Tried it for the first time last night at my kids Trunk or Treat event, and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Detroit dog, the homemade chili was so tasty combined with the flavors of all the other toppings (I want more now). My kiddos enjoyed the wings and fries. Oh and they had grape Faygo .
