After spending years driving fords and 10+ year old japanese cars, I've finally had the luxury to settle in to a volvo sedan. Mind you it's a 2000 S40, which is way on the entry level side, but still.. MAG has provided service well beyond what any normal dealership would provide. Early on, I had to get work done on the camshaft pulley and all of my belts, MAG provided me a free C30 for use during the 5 day stretch my car was out of commission. They were willing to work with my non-volvo extended warranty company to claim and save me over $1000. But that's not the best part. Yesterday my exhaust started making tons of noise, I thought "live in german village,,,, exhaust comes loose", so I took it to grismer on 4th st downtown by work since I needed an oil change. The guys there told me it was the flex pipe which is one piece with the catalytic converter, a $500+ repair which they could not complete until Weds of next week. I instinctively called MAG and was dismayed to find their price for the repair would run about $1200. *Insert magic here* So as I was freaking and thinking I was going to be out half my paycheck or more, Pat from MAG calls back, and tells me that he thinks the part is under a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I thought since I was the third owner, it's an 8 year old car and it had 78,000 miles on it I didn't qualify for any volvo warranties,,, I was wrong!! All I had to do was bring in the car, they inspected it and confirmed the problem and now I'll be getting it repaired next week at NO COST!!!!!!!! The best thing is, they called me,,, I can't obsess over how awesome it is that they thought of that, and called me, even if they're not making money off the parts and labor!! Recommend it for anything, service costs a bit more than the cheap places thanks to genuine volvo parts, but hands down worth it! read more

I have been researching cars for about a month and narrowed down my search to a few -- VW being one. I decided to go to MAG, even though a family friend who collects Ferraris (has over 30) told me NOT to go there (he didn't elaborate on why). So I walked in to MAG, wandered around the showroom for a few minutes, waiting for someone to help me. Eventually a salesman walked through and basically ignored me. I am a 25 year old female (and I look about 18), but that is no excuse to not take me seriously. I am a professional, and a potential source of income!! I then asked him if he could help, and he said he was busy. At my insistence, he rushed over a few auto specs, and basically told me that to lease a 2012 Jetta (that costs less than $20K) would be almost $400 a month for a 36 month lease (WITH money down). Now any idiot can see that that is ridiculous. He ended up pawning me off to another salesman to go over prices, but they "couldn't give me any estimates" supposedly because a specific guy was not there. Seems ridiculous. I then went to Hatfield VW, whose salesman was helpful and kind... and they gave me realistic prices.... About $200 a month LESS than MAG's "prices." Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to MAG and I will tell everyone I know (and I've told strangers, too), not to do business there. I am a paying customer and deserve to be treated with respect. The sole purpose of ths outfit is to separate you from your money.A simple search of the reviews will bare me out. 1) Over priced trouble shooting methods 2) Miss diagnostics of a problem 3) Charging customers for repairs that do nothing to solve a problem 4) Arrogant and feed you BS like they think you dont know which end of a wrench to hold. (Might work on the unsupecting women) Might not sound like much but when it runs into the thousands its a different story. There are many indpendant VW specialists out there that will treat you respect and value you as a repeat customer. Called for an actual part number on our now 15 yr old vw Jetta as vw in its infinite wisdom decided that year to offer two parts completely different and the part number on the piece is niot an actual part number for buying replacement parts. The item can be purchased for between $100-300 anywhere else the top end being an actual vw parts store. The guy on the phone looked up the number told me he had it in stock and it was mine for $450!!!! Then wouldn't tell me the part number?! Holding me hostage basically to buy a part for a 15 yr old car that would probably sell for $2500!! I can understand if it was competitively priced or if the car was under warranty years old but jeez this is highway robbery. As a rep for vw they should be offering this service to owners who want to fix their cars properly anyway. I love my vw but every interaction with MAG I have ever had has been a bad customer service one. Now I will NEVER put business their way even for my next vw which I planned to buy new later this year! Oh and picked up a replacement via amazon of all places for $90. Works fine! read more

I have bought 2 cars from Nick at MAG Mini and he went 100% above and beyond for me. I was a nervous car buyer, wanted a good deal, had my heart set on colors and specific packages, and Nick did everything he good to make sure that I was able to purchase the car of my dreams. When he didn't think he had it on the lot he spent an extensive amount of time searching for a Dealership that could ship him exactly what I wanted. In the end I found the perfect Mini Countryman on the lot and he was able to help with some extras to ensure that is was exactly what I wanted. The best part about my experience is I never felt that I was being an inconvenience and I never felt uncomfortable or pressured. They worked with me on everything they were able to (price, color, financing, EVERYTHING) and were respectful. Nick also has also helped me out with thing that are totally outside of his job ("Nick I can't get my bluetooth set up" - "no problem swing buy and I will walk you through it"). If everyone could work with Sales Team at MAG Mini car dealerships would never have such a bad reputation and no one would complain about how terrible buying a car is. I've been to this dealership several times since purchasing my new VW beetle convertible in April (I bought the car at a different dealership, so I can only review the service department). Each time I have been, everyone I've interacted with has been so pleasant and helpful. This time, I brought my car in for a 3-month check-up. The service folks took care of it quickly and made sure I knew when I was due for my next service (an oil change). They also ran the car through the wash and hand-cleaned some sunscreen stains on the door. I really appreciated them taking that time; I hadn't been able to get the stains out at home. Main reason for the review is at first I was not happy with the price of the services perform on the vehicle, told the manager my concerns, and adjusted it to a more reasonable price. We have used only VW service (for a Passat purchased elsewhere), so cannot speak to sales or other brands. But we are quite happy with the service that we've received. Service costs have been close to those of independent shops, but the MAG technicians have the advantage of working only or at least primarily on VWs, which are not always the easiest to repair. All service that we have had done there has been done right the first time. For scheduled maintenance, MAG does *not* follow the all too common practice of adding to the manufacturer's recommended services. With our other car -- not a VW -- every dealer in the area tries to include extraneous, costly services with scheduled maintenance. You have to quiz them to find out what's really required. MAG does not seem to engage in such shenanigans. We recently had some pretty extensive work done on the car. We were very impressed with the willingness of the service consultant to explain what was going on in great detail, to help us through the options, and to keep the price of repairs under control. The facility itself is nice -- plenty of spaces to wait, including a waiting room with a TV that is sometimes off (hooray! -- a quiet place to get some work done) and tables scattered around the showroom as well. WiFi that actually works, decent coffee and tea. And, if you don't want to wait there, a free shuttle service. Another reviewer mentioned that even simple service is slow. I guess that's true, but the facility is nice enough that we've never really been that impatient, and we will trade off some speed for being confident that everything is done correctly. (And by comparison other places don't seem that much faster.) Definitely recommended. read more

I have a great car in my VW Jetta TDI. Great performance, great mileage and all around great experience. The best place I've found in Columbus for service on my VW is MAG service department. I grew up in Detroit and spent lots of my youth learning about cars and servicing them. A good service garage pays attention to details and these guys pay attention to details! I have had good experiences with them over the past 4 years. They are consistent, considerate and thorough. They charge a bit more than some other places but I've found that service on VW is always more. I would recommend MAG to anyone! read more

I went there for the 30K mile checkup, oil change, etc. The people were great: very helpful, not too pushy (but a bit pushy), and very knowledgable. They offered me a rental car ($20/day), but I decided to stay (free wi-fi). Waiting room was comfortable (bring headphones, in case someone is watching TV). Overall, it was a great experience (we all have to get our cars fixed/maintained), and they did a very good job of making it as good of an experience as possible. read more

If we could make this a 4 1/2 star review that's what we would give MAG's. The dealership isn't perfect but they do try and make things right for us every time we go there. We own 2 high mileage VW's and usually go straight to Zach Higgins as our VW service advisor. Zach is very knowledgeable and is good at explaining the needed repairs. he has earned our trust. If Zach is unavailable the other service advisors are always eager and willing to help as well. The only problem that we are finding is the cost of repairs keeps going up and up, at some point we're afraid that won't be able to afford dealership repairs anymore. read more

Never buy a car from MAG and most importantly NEVER under any circumstances should you have your car serviced by MAG. They truly do not care about you or your car. Not only will they charge you an arm and a leg, but they won't fix the problem and you WILL be back for another visit at which time they will laugh at your misfortune while they will attempt to rip you off again. I discovered MAG through an internet search and chose this auto group as my local service provider upon relocating to this area. When the check engine light of my VW CC suddenly came on, I noticed oil leaking from the underside of the car. I decided to use caution and have it towed. Good move... as it was diagnosed with a rear main seal leak. My vehicle is 5 yrs old with 65000 miles... I was advised by Shaquil that the rear main seal was no longer under warranty, but the good news was that the intake manifold was covered under manufacturer warranty and would be taken care of. I was also advised that due to excessive carbon build up of the VW CC engine that I should have the manifold "blown out". When the repairs were made I was charged $1250.00 and $156.00 towing and recovery. LESS than 24 hours later, the vehicle broke down on our sons birthday, stranding us at a restaurant. I contacted MAG service dept. and was told by Daniel they absolutely would not tow my vehicle back to their service center. When I explained that the vehicle had left their establishment LESS that 24 hrs ago... he hung up on me. My husband then called and spoke to an adviser named Zach, whom assured us that we should have the vehicle towed and relay to the tow provider that MAG would write a PO once the vehicle arrived. However, the tow company said we had to pay as they didn't have an acct. with MAG. We had no choice as our vehicle was already loaded. The vehicle was now towed for a second time back to MAG.I was contacted 3 days later by Zach, whom told me that the car was running just fine and that a piece of carbon was probably blocking a fuel injector causing it to go bad, but VW will not replace the injector until it goes completely out. LESS than 30 days later....our check engine light is on again. We had it towed and was referred by Zach to use Shamrock Towing and he would write a PO for towing. I am now being told that the problem is a PVC hose and $700 to repair... and they will not cover the towing. When I tell them the car has not ran right since the initial repair of the seal and ask questions... he simply hangs up. Has anyone had these problems with this dealership before? I feel very frustrated and I do not understand what a breather valve even does. Yes, I have looked these repairs up online... If MAG stands behind their service, why am I having continuous difficulty with these repairs? I love VW, we own 3 VW cars and have never been treated so poorly by a VW service department throughout the US. I have asked to speak with a manager several times and seem to be shuffled from voice mail to service adviser. I have requested a quote for trade in value and exploring the ideal of purchasing our 4th VW. No response as of yet... our car is currently in their service department as we wait to speak/meet with Stan. read more

I bought a 2015 Volkswagen Passat on Friday 9.18.2015 & that following Wednesday the back window would not go up & down properly. I stopped by Byers first because it was about 2 miles where the window incident happened. A service representative from Byers told me they could not get to it until tomorrow & they could not provide any loaners because they did not have any for almost two weeks. I called Zac Higgins at MAG in Dublin, Ohio, where I bought the car. I left a message & he called me back within minutes. He told me to bring the car in & they could provide a loaner. Went to MAG for my '13 mini cooper for issues with the engine and the timing and received an estimate for $2273. I was told need a new timing chain for $1700. Went to my local mechanic and he fixed my problem, only need a tune up, clean my my spark plugs and coils and cost me only $600. Get a second opinion! MAG has too much overhead. Their estimate cost me $165 and then I took my Mini to my local mechanic,only cost me $600 and my car runs great. This dealership is very nice and professional, but will gouge you! I never thought I would consider my auto service people like friends, but that's how I feel. My 2002 Beetle, "George," is always well taken care of by Bob and company. They make sure I can get back and forth to work and keep me posted as to the progress on the service. On the RARE occasion that there has been an error, they have always made it right to my satisfaction. Bob even advocated for me with an extended warranty claim. "George" has nearly 150K miles - middle age for a diesel - and I expect to keep driving him for many years with the help of the VW service team at MAG. read more

My service rep went above what was required. I had the car repaired at an insurance recommended location and there were issues related to the repair. I brought the car to MAG for the proper repairs and the service rep helped me negotiate the fixes with my insurance company. He did a complete inspection and helped to identify items that would have otherwise gone unfixed. My insurance company asked me to take the car back to the original repair company to make them fix it right. I refused because I did not trust them after the original work. Even with the insurance rep reviewing what was identified they refused to pay for some items that I thought were from the accident. The insurance agent said no that it would not have been caused by the accident. The MAG Rep reviewed the parts, proved they were not VW parts and had obviously been replaced with sub-standard parts that were not functional. I owe MAG my thanks and probably a percentage of my savings. I do want to point out that the car is my daughter's and I am not only happy for the savings but I feel the car is now safe for her to drive. I know that it was not the case when it was originally repaired and i shudder to think what could have happened. Sometimes there are more important things than money and the safety of my children is one of them. read more

When I was shopping for a new car, I went to all of the different dealerships in Columbus. The absolute best experience I had anywhere was at MAG Volkswagen with Tom Greenwell. He was experienced, respectful, patient, and responsive to all of my many questions, either by phone or email. Unfortunately, MAG didn't have the car I wanted, so I went to Hatfield Volswagen. My experience there was the worst I've ever been through trying to buy a car. I negotiated a price and put a deposit down on a lease-back, but it needed to be detailed. When they called and said it was ready, I drove all the way out there, only to find it still filthy and smelling like smoke. They said they would clean it again. Every time I called to see if it was ready, I was transferred to a different salesperson, and got a different story about the status of the car. After 2 weeks of waiting, I called to say that I needed the car and was driving out there. Guess what? They had sold it to 'someone else'. No notice or apologies, just a snarky comment that I would get my deposit back soon. So back to MAG, where Tom Greenwell did another search for me and found the same car, 1 year older, but in beautiful shape, almost brand new. We negotiated a very fair price, and Tom made sure that the car was perfect when I went to pick it up. He took a lot of time with me, explaining the navigation and sound system and all the other little things that would take a lot of time to learn on your own. There was never a question about the car that he didn't completely and patiently answer for me. If you are looking for a Volkswagen, I would highly recommend taking the time to talk with Tom at MAG. read more

Most reliable and honest Volkswagen Service Department in the area. Always courteous and extremely thorough. My bug is a rare one as it is a TDI. It is a challenge to find a service department that truly knows how to take care of a diesel automobile. I have also found them to be the most honest service department. Safety related repairs are immediately brought to my attention. If there is a repair that will be needed in the next few months, it is brought to my attention and an estimate is provided so that I can budget for the repair. Considering the bug has nearly 150,000 miles on it, knowing what the next routine maintenance will cost and what to watch for between now and then is a big plus from this service department. read more

After a negative experience with another dealer, I started bringing my 2003 Jetta to MAG VW for service, as that's where the CarFax showed that the previous owner took it for service. The difference has been night and day, and I haven't looked back. Dan, who was my service adviser (it seems he has recently moved to MAG BMW), always took the time to tell me what was wrong with my car and if it was something he thought was worth fixing on an older car with my budget (I'm a college student who pays for all of my living expenses). Although some other cheaper options exist, the convenience, knowledge, and trustworthiness I've come to expect from MAG make it the only place I take my car. read more

Horrible experience do not buy a vehicle from this place. I purchased an Escalade ESV six weeks ago and the transmission went out. I did purchase this vehicle AS IS but there is no way that this problem surfaced in six weeks and I never would've purchased a vehicle with transmission issues. I was told that the suv passed inspection as well as servicing. If that is truly the case whoever inspected it lied. These people are frauds. I contacted the used car manager Megan Bruzzese by phone and email and she has yet to return my call or email. It's going to cost me 3300 dollars to get this truck fixed. I could've kept my Lexus instead of trading it in. These people are totally unprofessionsl, dishonest and shady. It would be in your best interest to run as far away from them as you can. I don't expect them to fix the truck but as a sign of good faith they could've offered at least a thousand dollars toward repairs since I've only had the truck for six weeks. Never again will I do business with them and you shouldn't either!!! The only reason I gave them one star is because I couldn't leave a zero rating. Thoroughly disappointed and disgusted. I only owed 2900 on my Lexus now I have a 15,000 dollar vehicle that needs 3300 dollars worth of work. read more

This place has lousy customer service and sales people. They are the most high end car dealer in Ohio so I went to check it out. I am from Cincinnati and went up here to check out the Bentley's and Maserati's but they were way over priced compared to the dealers in Florida for high end cars. I live in Miami Beach as well so I am used to high end cars and dealers but this place has the worst service of all. Avoid this place like the plague. read more
