Being my first time, I was excited to walk into the location. But to my surprise the clerk behind the counter didn't so much as to say hello & welcome. I actually looked her dead on and said HELLO & HOW U DOING? To remind her that you are in the business of customer service and you have to acknowledge your customers when they walk in. Maybe she needs to be retrained or was having a bad day not quite sure but as much as I wanted & was craving for treat I was turned off completely by the customer service or the lack of it at the location so decided NOT to spend my hard earned dollars there. Amazing cupcakes and macarons! What can I say or rather what can't I say about this place? It's an adorably charming little cupcake/candy/macaron shop.. reminds me of some cute little French pâtisserie. I bought a chocolate cupcake with raspberry buttercream and a couple of macarons (chocolate with raspberry and hazelnut). Everything tasted fantastic! The chocolate cupcake was still moist even the next day.. and the raspberry buttercream was great, light but you can definitely taste raspberry -- a great combination with the chocolate. Anyway, I'm so glad I live close to this place, because it's definitely one of the places that I would go after a bad day. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but I'd rather pay for a quality cupcake over a Safeway one. read more

I popped by here after a Yelp behind-the-scenes tour at Baia Pasta, and this was one of the only places open on that Sunday morning. I wanted to get parking validation, which Miette doesn't offer, but I got some beautiful French macarons instead. Lots of pretty colors and sweets here, and very nice staff! read more

I only go to Miette for their cookies. I think I tried one of their cupcakes once and thought was just okay. Their cookies and shortbreads are always good. This Oakland store is kinda tiny and is located in a somewhat corner spot of Jack London Square, but it's still cute. If you walk down the street a bit you can see the space is mostly used as their baking space. The prices are kinda high but if you factor in the ingredients and quality, it's worth it. If I planned a picnic something from Miette would go in my basket. read more

I've always love Miette, but I've always been getting my treats from the Ferry Building. Today I stopped by the farmers marke @ jack london, and stopped by this location. I tried their Macarons for the first time today and they are super yummy... the best part?! not too sweet like many others. BUT, a big but, the customer service is really lacking in this particular location. Disinterest staff... very off putting attitude. Too bad... coz shopping experience def. influences how long I stay in a store and how much I spend. read more

Although these cupcakes had sat in my cousins hot car before making there way to my mouth, they were still delicious. After proclaiming my cupcake love for a shop in Sacramento (and than moving back to the bay) I have been disappointed time and time again by cupcakes too sweet or too dry. I'll definitely need to go back for a round 2 to test out more flavors but the chocolate and strawberry that I scarfed down were noteworthy. The frosting was whipped and not overly sweet. The cake was moist. I favored the chocolate over the strawberry because to me the strawberry frosting didn't seem like fresh strawberries (more like an artificial tasting strawberry flavor, I have no idea if I'm correct or not). read more

Was in Jack London Square yesterday, saw the Miette sign and wanted to try the cupcakes, since my niece said they're good. I got the Yellow Vanilla, but the cake was kind of dry. The flavor was good and so was the frosting, but it didn't make-up for the dryness of the cake. Had the Gingerbread and that was delicious. Also, had the chocolate truffle tarlatte which was chocolatey and rich. Lastly the portions could have been bigger. read more

Love the macarons here.. my favorites are the vanilla and hazelnut ones. This location is larger than the one in the ferry building, and it's a lot less crowded too. Macarons are just as delicious though! There were a lot of people working here and not that many customers when I was there, so I got helped very quickly. read more

We got a gingerbread cake for my brithday because of the review it recently got on the new AB show. It didn't do it for me, way too strong. Happened upon it after eating at Bocanova and we were pleasantly surprised because we had been to the Miette in the SF Ferry building. My daughter bought a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting and absolutely LOVED it! Bought lots of chocolates and candy. Really beautiful, pieces of edible art on sale hence the higher cost but quality is more important than quantity. Such a welcomed addition to the Jack London area. The woman at the counter was very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Oh and there's a large window on the street side of the building, it was fun watching the artisans in the kitchen preparing the baked products. Can't wait to for our next visit...it really is a magical place worth going to. read more

Can I just say that pistachio macarons make me weak? The rose flavored macaron was okay, didn't really knock me off my feet. Decently priced, not too bad -- about $1.85 per macaron (compared to others places I mean, I cant complain!). The cashier who was dressed head-to-toe in Disney's Beauty and the Beast was welcoming and very friendly! She also informed us that the rose flavor is derived from rose extract oil... coool. My friend also asked her a bunch of questions. She didn't seem irritated at all and was very willing to answer. Will stop by here again if I'm ever in the area! read more

I am fan of their delicious macaroons. I love how the outside of the macaroon is crisp but the inside is soft & chewy. I can eat a dozen in one sitting easily. My favorite is the rose geranium and pistachio. This little bakery in Oakland is small but its only enough space to grab your goodies and go. Great fine bakery in Oakland! The macaroons melt in your mouth, the crème fraiche ice cream sandwich exceeded my expectations and I look forward to trying more. My daughter tried the chocolate cupcake with vanilla butter-cream icing and loved it. She said the perfect balance of cake to icing, sometimes places add too much icing. Living right up the street from Miette is a real treat. The smell of their bakery along with Blue Bottle's coffee roasting in the morning creates a "little Paris" vibe in JLS. Wandering by in the evening, their bakers can be seen hard at work thru the large glass windows into their super sized kitchen making all kinds of delicious things for their many shops in the Bay Area (this is the main bakery). Their cupcakes are pretty great, but my personal fave are the sea salt caramels, which should be savored, but disappear far too quickly. read more

You guys! You guys! Did you know Miette has a macaroon Happy Hour during the spring? Every Saturday they have been selling their macaroons for $1.00 each with a limit of 10 per customer. So that's what I did yesterday. I was surprised there wasn't a line out the door and the counter girl said she didn't think too many people knew about it it. I found out through myJack London Square emails. I bought one of each flavor and two of the hazelnut and two of the rose. Delicious. I hope they do this again, sorry my review is so late in the game. I decided to check out this bakery since to satisfy my cupcake craving. The cupcakes were moist and delicious! I bought 3 cupcakes: gingerbread, chocolate and carrot cake and loved them all. The staff was really friendly. Their products are packaged in cute bags and boxes. I would give Miette 5 stars if there was a great cupcake selection. I will visit again while in town. read more

Please please PLEASE hire someone new. The girl currently working (Thursday at 2:15PM) barely greeted us, kept sniffling, and then when I asked if she loved the macarons so she could help me narrow down my choices, she gave me attitude saying that she has to try everything because she's worked here for a year and a half, but doesn't like sweets. She was the most depressing person I've experienced in a while and SHE WORKS AT AN ADORABLE BAKERY. I don't get it. I left without purchasing anything, but my friends loved what they ate. Great customer service. We were helped by Zack. the shop itself is very cute yet classy. Loved the decor. the cupcake case itself wasn't over stocked with cupcakes (which I think overstocked cupcake cases are over whelming) and had the right ammount of flavors to give you variety. Macarons were nice and moist(I tried the vanilla and almond) and perfect in size for those who want a touch of something sweet with out feeling guilty. I tried the carrot cupcake. The cupcake itself was moist but had a lot of grains and oats in it, which I personally would of preffered less. I thought it took away from the classic carrot. Other than that, I will be coming back to try more flavors. read more

Customer service was awful! Not a welcome, hello or can I help you when I walked in. Had a question on the cakes and stood there for a good minute before she said "yeah"? I asked her if they had different styles of cakes she said "that's it, look online" then asked her about her macaroons, she said that's it. Cookbook is a disaster! Mistakes all over with the ingredients, measurements, instructions, and grammar. Only thing good is the pictures but nothing comes out like them unless you figure out the measurement mistakes and adjust them accordingly. It's seems like the author never tested the recipes or never baked before. read more
