    Xia Sandwich (shrimp patty)

Delicious! We didn't realize there was a pop-up at this location and had never had Taiwanese breakfast so did not know what to expect. It ended up being such a lovely surprise. I had the rice ball which was super good. I recommend using the chili garlic sauce with it. I love sticky rice and with the egg and other flavors it was brilliant in a breakfast dish. My bf has the xia sandwich which was very very flavorful. I've never seen him eat something so fast. I also got a side of pork sausage that I will skip next time. Wasn't bad, just was too fatty for me because I'm used to turkey sausage. I think it was their first time at this location and they were working a couple of things out (short on napkins, plates a little small for the food) but the food more than made up for any small hiccups. Overall great experience and will go back in the future because several other items we did not get looked great as well.

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

Located in a grocery store foodcourt. Ordered the sticky rice roll with purple rice, stinky tofu, egg omelette, beef noodle soup, and a sweet tofu pudding. The sticky rice roll's rice was wayyy too mushy and there was only meat floss as the filling, wish there was more variety. The stinky tofu and egg omelette was just OK - wished the egg omelette was thinner like I've had in Taiwan. The beef noodle soup was probably the best dish. It was standard and I enjoyed the soup. The tofu pudding was also good and barely sweet, I could have had it slightly sweeter. Probably won't return now that I've tried it a second time.

Parking is easy in the lot and it was very easy to find the food stall. There were a few choices in the food court but we stopped by Ping's place to peruse their menu and find the rice rolls. They had both a sweet and savory one so we ordered one of each. After placing out order, we walked around to see what other food their was but we ended up ordering more food to eat at Ping's Place. The service was friendly and helped answer all of our questions. We got our rice rolls pretty fast, with them announcing over an intercom when our order was ready. We got the sweet one just to try it out and it was pretty good for what it was but the savory roll was our favorite! It had pork floss and something that gave it a nice crunch. If you're trying to find rice rolls or want to try it out, def stop by to try if you're in the area!

I've had Mama's Kitchen on my list for a while once it popped up on my Taiwanese cuisine radar. It looks like the menu has expanded to included non-Taiwanese dishes, maybe to suit the tastes of the other cultures in the area. However, I was going straight for the Taiwanese favorites, including the Braised Minced Pork over Rice (滷肉飯), fried chicken cutlet over rice and of course the classic beef noodle soup. Everything was a-ok! Service was friendly, even inside the H-Mart food court. My favorite was the minced pork over rice (i even ordered a second order to go LOL), but the chicken cutlet and beef noodle soup hit the spot. If you're looking for some casual Taiwanese classics quick and easy, definitely recommend Mama's Kitchen!

We also get the mapo tofu which is a staple too. Its sauce is nice and thick with the silkiest tofu. Not spicy and is the best mixed on top of rice. Their eggplant dish is really good too. It has minced ground pork and a nice brown sauce. A good side dish to complement any meal. The Zha Jiang Mian is pretty good! It has nice chunks of pork and shrimp that give the dish a nice bite. Great to order if you have kids. I usually get the food to go since it's in a food court inside hmart, and I want the whole meal experience at home. But the food court there is pretty quiet with a lot of tables to sit. The food comes out pretty fast and the front cashier girl has quick service skills. This is a good place to get food for a good hearty Taiwanese meal! Very good and hits the satisfaction factor every time!

I usually pop in pretty late in the evening before they close since the bakery is a little further from my home. Most of the goodies have dwindled down by the end of the night. The owner is a sweet Taiwanese lady who boasts their products don't contain any preservatives. Everything is freshly made - half the time, the bread baggies are seen open and cooling. My favorites are the buns - the custard, black sesame, hot dog and Chanel polo meat floss buns. Their sandos remind me of Family Mart sandwiches in Taiwan. And the bento boxes are massive - definitely recommend the fried pork chop bento box! The combo comes with a drink, as well. It's been a minute since my last visit so I'll definitely need to stop by on my next trip to Duluth/Johns Creek!

I'm still on the hunt for an egg salad sandwich rivaling Lawson's or 7-11 but the one here has good bread! I tried an orange cream sandwich too and the cream left a film on my tongue so not my favorite but it's a nice, light dessert They have a ton of different options though so something for everyone. Next time, I'll have to come earlier to get a loaf of just plain white bread. They only had flavored breads $8/ loaf when I came and I got the sesame but I haven't tried it yet. It looks gorgeous though with a great swirl and fluffy texture The staff were friendly & quick. It has plenty of parking in the shared lot of the strip.

It wasn't busy for a Sunday lunch but it's in a very tucked away location on Lakefield Drive. We ordered the beef noodle soup, gravy noodles, potstickers, XLB, and egg tarts. While presentation was great everything fell short except for the XLB and egg tarts. I do like that there is an option for a small portion of noodles - great if you want room to try other dishes. Noodles themselves were nice and chewy but the flavor and thickness of the broths felt like I was eating ramen instead of Chinese or Taiwanese noodle soups. Meats were tender. The gravy noodles had fish, pork, and duck in it and had too many mixes of flavors for us. The potstickers were large but too oily and didn't have much flavor inside. XLB were standard - I thought they were fine but could have used some more soup. Egg tarts were also flaky and good as expected. The waitress said be careful as they were hot from the oven but I couldn't wait since I love dessert. It was cold in the center lol. Otherwise flavor was great. Def have mixed feelings about this spot. Try it for yourself and see what you think.

The Mapo Tofu was a little lacking in flavor in my opinion, but still a decent dish. All dishes came out in fairly large portions! I really wish I lived closer so that I could come more often - finding good chinese food in ATL is a little tough, so I'm so glad to have tried Hunan Garden. Prices are also very reasonable! I'm not expecting top-notch at small spots like this but felt the staff was actually rather rude as opposed to just being purely inattentive. Overall it was an ok experience but given the abundance of Chinese-based restaurants in the area, probably won't be back anytime soon.
