So I found this company on Craigslist, and was a little unsure because you hear a lot of horror stories about craigslist companies, but I was looking for more quotes and called. The owner Don, came to my appartment to do the walkthrough and quoted me for 4 guys and eight hours. My move was a little more complicated than most as there were 3 separate places to load up and a real trick and steep stairwell with a lot of big furniture. I was in the Army living in Itay for 7 years so I collected a lot of large and heavy furniture and quite a few fragile trinkets. The crew showed up on time- no complaints there. I took them on a tour of what was needed and they started to work. After about 30 min though, they had to rework their plan after realizing just how trick this appartment was. I can't complain about that, because after they got it figured out, everything went smooth. They had one guy on the back of the truck who really knew how to load a moving truck. It was pretty impressive. Kinda like tetris. So they got the apt loaded up and the stoarge area loaded up (located in a warehouse behind the apt) and Don came out to check out progress. That made me feel good. The crew didn't break anything and showed me any thing that was damaged before they touched it, so I knew it wasn't casued by them. They even took apart some furniture and put it together perfectly later. After all that was loaded, we went to my brother's house to pick up just a few more large items and the crew went to have lunch. I will be honest and say I was a littler worried on time because we were at 5 hours by then (always takes longer to load than download) but once we got to my new house, everything went fast. I walked them through the place and as they got my stuff off the truck, I just told them where to put it and it was done. I did walkthroughs at all locations and there was no damage, I checked out all my furniture and the things I was sure would be most likely to break and no problems what so ever. They even got it done just shy of the 8 hours quoted. I hope I wont ever have to move again, but If I do, I would hire this crew again. The guys were hard workers, they were funny and most importantly- They moved all my belongings without breaking them. As far as price goes, Don even gave me a better quote than the next closest guy by almost $200 and then, He even gave me a discount for being a Veteran. I can't complain about that. Looking on this site, I see someone on this site had a negative experience, but I can't relate at all. Everything went textbook for my move and I had a hard one. I would say call these guys. So, I used them last year for a move from a small 2 level 2 bedroom house to a larger 4 bedroom rental that was 3 miles away. I was told about Mighty Samson from a coworker of mine, the owner is a friend of his. They gave me a great price. Don and I only spoke on the phone and he quoted me a price for what I described and gave me a time to move during Thanksgiving Weekend. I was very honest about the size and the weight of what i wanted them to move: my heavy antique bedroom set (high dresser, long dresser with mirror, headboard, mattress, bed frame) a monster samsung fridge, my new stove, my washer and dryer ( these items were actually in the garage as I wasn't able to use them in this rental, so just roll them on the truck!) I kept my apps in the garage as I knew I wasn't staying in this home long term. They also moved my China cabinet, curio cabinet, antique console stereo and some boxes. (Hardly a whole house of furniture and belonging!) They had one guy carrying really heavy boxes of books, that should've been dollied. The guys showed up reeking of pot and look stoned. i want to add that myself, son and a bunch of friends moved everything light in a U-Haul the night before. I just needed the movers to do the heavy and bulky furniture. The guys were very nice and efficient. I even went to the atm on the way to the new house to get more money so I could give the guys a nice tip. The guys moved everything onto the first floor of the new house as I only wanted the 2 desks and chair on the second floor. 1 was an L shaped shaped desk, which Conrad refused to put together because the screw was stripped (the desk was fairly new). He informed me of their policy that if they take it apart, they will reassemble. But then he refused. As a single woman, I had to do that. The final straw was when it came to pay: they jacked up my fee over $100 for some bogus "travel fee" that I was never quoted! There went the tip that I was going to give the guys. When I called Don he argued with me about the fee and said I was told about it. I found the pad of paper that I jotted notes down during our initial conversation and there was no mention of this fee. While on the phone with Don that day, I asked him for his out the door price and it never included this travel fee. Don stopped taking my calls about this fee and my desk. They guys were very nice but I will never use them again. That was my 36 lifetime move and not my last. read more

Nice guys but we did not have a good experience. First of all, they never showed up at their scheduled time and then acted like they forgot when we called. They threw together a 3 man tean for the price of a 2 man team but the 3rd was someone's kid who could only move light stuff. They dropped multiple items, dinged up almost every door frame, and didn't cover any furniture in the pouring rain until we specifically asked. Now we are left with water spots, scratches, and scuffs on multiple pieces of furniture. They didn't seem overly concerned that they were hitting walls and doorframes and seemed to struggle moving all pieces of furniture. STAY WAY!!!! Dealing with Mighty Samson was a NIGHTMARE!!!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE AND STAY FAR AWAY. 1st They came 5hrs after the time they we suppose to. 2nd After leaving with my bellowing to go to my new apartment, they arrived 2hrs late. I had to call their boss "Don" numerous times before he informed me that the movers went on a two hours break. 3rd When they finally made it to my house the movers dropped my 55inch TV on the floor!!!!!!!!!!!! (Luckily only my TV stand got broke) 4th At the end of the move, the owner tried to charge me 300$ more than what was initially agreed on. I had to yell at him for 15minutes before he agreed on the initial price. 5th I had to chase after the owner for several days before obtaining an answer about getting a new TV stand. In the process he was RUDE, UNAPOLOGETIC, AND LIAD SEVERAL TIMES TO GET AWAY FROM GIVING ME WHAT I WAS DUE. These dudes were pretty awesome. Owner came out and introduced himself to us and shortly after his guys start moving things out of the house into the truck. They started the drive immediately so they were able to unload the truck at the destination (9 hours away) the next morning. We used Mighty Samson for our move on 10-3-14. All I can say is Wow! I can't say enough good things about Don, Jose and the crew. They saved our butts when our scheduled mover double booked and cancelled on us the day before our closing :-( Mighty Samson squeezed us in, saved us a lot of money, was extremely polite and efficient. They worked their tails off all the while being extremely pleasant. The day could have been very stressful, but they saved the day! Don their boss quoted me an hour or two but it took 3. They showed up on time for the move itself. They didn't send out anyone to look over my items initially. Some furniture was scratched in moving and while the movers were very polite they were not very gentle with my items as the day moved along. They did not measure items to make sure they would fit through doors before moving them which may have led to certain damages. One mover was on his phone and distracted while moving things which probably added to the time of moving. I don't think I would use this service again or recommend it to others. ALSO they accept cards but if you pay via card they charge you 3% of your cost in addition to a transaction fee. read more

The business is obviously poorly run - the trucks break down (TWICE in one trip), the workers do not get paid well which makes them care less about the job they do, the management does not respond to customers problems, and there was no sympathy given for the problem WE had seemed to put them in. I would HIGHLY recommend staying away from them - unless you want to take the gamble like we did and have a great story to tell afterwards. We chose Mighty Samson after getting ~10 quotes from different movers to move from Buffalo to New York City. Mighty Samson was one of the cheaper options, with decent, albeit mixed reviews on Yelp. Our overall experience was pretty horrible, although the movers themselves were great. They arrived to pack our belongings 1.5 hours late (after calling us to say they would be 1 hour late). They were scheduled to meet us in NYC the next morning at 10 AM. We called them at 10:30 after not hearing from them, and they said they wouldn't arrive until 2 PM. Then at 2 PM, they called to tell us they had broken down in rural Pennsylvania and would not be fixed until the next morning. We spoke with the owner, Don, who offered little remorse and only complained to us that this would cost him a lot of money. We arranged to meet the next morning (after having to sleep in a hotel with no reimbursement from Don) at 8 AM. After having them not show up (and with Don not answering his cell phone any more), we ended up finding the 2 movers sleeping in their truck parked 1 block away from our apartment. We had to wake them up, but much to our despair, the truck battery had died (likely from them using the battery while sleeping in the truck all day/night). We then needed to wait 2 MORE hours for someone to come and jumpstart the truck. Don was unreachable until the truck was started (he would ignore our phone calls any time we tried reaching him), and would only call us to tell us we were all set. The movers ended up being great, and did not damage any of our belongings, and took care with our belongings. They told us they don't get paid with the delay - which would explain why they did not care much about being late. read more

Mighty Samson came recommended from a friend. Getting a quote and booking was one phone call away. Don (the owner) is very responsive. On the day of the move, I received a call to confirm that they were a half an hour away. Conrad and Jerry showed up with a large truck and after some quick paperwork, starting right in on hauling out boxes/ furniture. These guys hustled taking multiple boxes at a time. They were polite and careful. Nothing got broken, and everything was put in its place in the new apartment. I would definitely use Mighty Samson again. Reasonably priced and professional. The price is fair; other places were trying to charge me from the time they left their office, MS had a flat rate fee for getting to/from my home . If you're on a schedule and care about your belongings, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT HIRING THEM! Arrived 4 hours late for the job and said "everyone knows there is a 4 hour window delay with any moving company". Let me start by saying these guys were great! To make a long story short, my mother needed to move her belongings (a lot of belongings) from her attic to the basement. I offered to help, then I realized that there is no way that 3 women over 40 would be able to do it on our own in a timely fashion. So this morning, yes I said THIS MORNING, I looked on Craigslist and found mighty Samson moving. I emailed him regarding my situation and Don emailed me back almost immediately with a quote and asked me to call him. I called at 930am and he offered two men within a half hour. I requested noon. They arrived at 12:05 and apologized for being late. Late? Have you looked outside? We're in the middle of a storm. They busted their butts for 3 1/2 hours and completed a task that would have taken me days. They even apologized for taking so long. They were polite and efficient. We used Mighty Samson Movers to move from a big house to a smaller house, both in the Buffalo area. The move took longer than expected, but Mighty Samson Movers got everything done. I was pretty happy with the move. The guys worked hard and they did a great job. They gave me a fixed price and they were cheaper than other quotes that I received. My main gripe is trying to get them to fix a scratch on a piece of furniture. They only scratched one piece, which is pretty good. I moved over five months ago, I called Mighty Samson Movers eight or more times. They keep promising to take care of the job, but they never show up. I would have given them five stars if they took care of the damages after the job is older. read more

Biggest Scam Ever! We booked this company well in advance of our moving date, ordering two men and a full size truck for our 1800 sq ft house. I explained that three of the four bedrooms and the basement were already cleared out by us previously. The owner, Don, quoted us a price of $95/hr @ 3 to 4 hours worth of work. I confirmed with him the day before the scheduled move that we were still all set. The day of the move, a rented U-Haul truck showed up two hours late with four men inside and informed us that the price is now $165/hr. The excuse for showing up late was the truck broke down. If we didn't agree to the four men, they said there is no way they would have our belongings out of the house by our deadline of 3pm. What could we do??? As of 3pm, the house would belong to the new owners who were showing up with their own truck to move in. This is the most rinky-dink outfit I've ever seen; they were unprofessional, disorganized, damaged some of our stuff, and moved slowly. They were so slow we dismissed them after 5 hours and finished the rest of the job ourselves. And despite the EPIC FAIL on their part, their was no sympathy shown to us by Don or the workers. In fact, they blamed us for not having all of our stuff on the first floor which would have helped them load faster ... seriously? Isn't that THEIR job as the paid movers????? We were never told to have our belongings moved to the first floor of our house. If that was the case, we may as well rent our own U-Haul and move it ourselves. It cost us over $1,000 by the time it was all said and done. Not to mention they didn't even put the boxes in the correct rooms of the new house (boxes were clearly marked where they go i.e. "Bathroom", "Kitchen", "Living Room" etc, etc) DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! Obviously the 4 and 5 star reviews were planted by the owner himself, as I can't imagine any real person being happy with this place. After seeing the scam alert about moving companies on Channel 7 yesterday, I will be contacting the Attorney General's Office to report this. Horrible experience. Showed up late, quoted me a price for the job and then went three hours over and tried to charge me for it. The movers were nice at first, but their attitude changed and our stuff started getting broken after we called the company and complained about the difference between the quote and what they were intending to charge us. When my hubby called to get them to file a claim for our broken mattress (they folded it in half and broke the metal frame inside) and our new vacuum they broke (by dropping it down a flight of stairs), the owner cursed my hubby out and told him that we had no proof they moved us and he wasn't going to do anything. He called back a few days later and apologized, but never followed through on making good on the insurance claim for our bed and vacuum. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. We still had to rent a truck and finish our move even after paying movers to help us :/ read more
