Drive thru is open, everyone was so friendly and food is delicious! Also they have aguas frescas/raspas selling in front. Worth the stop.

While headed back to AZ I stopped here. I went through the drive thru and the man who took my order was extremely nice. I customized my order a bit and he had no problem doing so. The prices were very reasonable and the food was better then I expected! I'm very picky when it comes to salsa and there's was sooo good. The staff is friendly. They were one of the only places open at 9pm. What I wanted was not on the menu yet made what I wanted without question. Look around the room and it was nice and comfortable. Loved the atmosphere!!!! Now the food was off to a great start. The chips are homemade and the self serve salsa bar was nice and convenient. Many flavors from spicy to not very spicy. NICE LITTLE PLACE BUT THE FOOD IS VERY PEDESTRIAN Miguel's ranks twenty-second (22nd) on the 2018 Mr. Sensitive list of the Mexican food restaurants in town when considering the full dining experience. I like this place and its owner but when you are competing with over sixty restaurants around the area it is difficult to make the top twenty. Miguel's just doesn't make it into the big leagues. I have never left Miguel's feeling like I just finished a really good meal. This little restaurant is bright and clean and comfortable enough for casual dining. I have always found the service to be pleasant and usually efficient. They make an effort. The menu is a blend of traditional Mexican and New Mex cuisine. Prices are very moderate. On my most recent visit I sampled their ROLLED TACOS with their "signature sauce." The rice seemed for some reason to be a little oily The beans were very mediocre....cold and stiff. You really shouldn't serve beans like this! The rolled tacos were filled with either ground beef or chicken. The fillings had little seasoning. They were covered with their signature sauce and some kind of white shredded cheese. The signature sauce appeared to be sort of a tomato based salsa, heavy on the cilantro and very tart or having a pronounced sour flavor. It was not very good. I did not like the sauce at all and it spoiled the rolled tacos for me. I had to struggle to finish the tacos because of the sour taste. Also tried several gorditas which had oily and soft, pasty shells. One had a brisket filling, one shredded chicken, and one ground beef and potato. They were all finished with their red sauce. The ground beef had a decent flavor, the brisket was mediocre, and the chicken so-so. None of these gorditas were good. In the past I experienced "Miguel's Plate;" rice, beans, a large tortilla, and brisket cooked with diced potatoes. The beans were pretty decent. The rice was fluffy and well prepared. The main course, the diced brisket and potatoes, was just ok. The potatoes were almost too small to notice. The brisket could have used more seasoning. Overall, this meal was nothing too special. After four visits to Miguel's this seems to be the verdict. The food is inconsistent and, while decent, nothing too special. What to expect if you go: A nice, clean little place with ok service. Food that is inconsistent and sort of pedestrian in quality. I have never left Miguel's feeling like I just had a really good meal. Restaurant rating = THREE-AND-A-HALF STARS.....meaning just a bit above average. Miguel's just makes it into the upper 50% of Mexican restaurants around the area. read more

After finally getting around to eating breakfast here, I felt compelled to actually speak up for this underrated establishment. I'm a recent transplant to cruces, and so far have been less than impressed with anything I have eaten. But miguels has been consistent, friendly, and delicious every time I have visited. The service has been excellent, especially when you figure these people don't even get tipped. As for the food, pork with red and eggs with a large hot flour tortilla makes the perfect breakfast. The pork was perfectly braised, not dry, not fatty. The red sauce, while often the only inconsistent item, was excellent today. The salsa bar is also not to be missed, with fantastic pico and roasted jalapenos. The lunch entrees have also hit the mark, with excellent green chili tamales, and also try the smothered burrito. The green chili was spicy and chunky, and the ground beef and potato was surprisingly flavorful. I have yet to try the brisket, but if the pork and beef are any indication, it won't disappoint. Possibly my favorite dive in Cruces. They have batted five for five in the last two weeks for me, so id say that's a hell of an average. read more

So far, so good for Miguel's. The selection is small, but delicious. The taco plate, with choices of chicken, pork, or beef brisket comes on fresh tortillas and is great! Each came with Red or Green options, as well as an ala Mexicana option for the brisket. Apparently they have been planning for a while, and already have a liquor license in place. I am looking forward to returning on the weekend for tacos, rellenos (which I have yet to try), and cold beer on one of these hot LC summer days! read more

Was very happy to have so many gluten-free options. Everything was tasty, fresh, true to their logo, it's "better than grandma's". really enjoyed the fresh toppings bar, authentic things like chopped radishes, cilantro, and hot sauces. To start off they don't honor the 10% discount because YELP is doing without the owners permission!!!! Other than that the brisket burritos are so very good. I got mine homestyle that comes with potatoes. I also got it Christmas style half green and half red chili on the top( because I didn't know what I would like/first visit here) I like both the red n the green even if they aren't spicy they have really good flavor. Middle of the road. Not bad not good. Not worth the money when other places nearby do a much better job. The portions are very small, the Chile Rellenos were soggy, the rice bland and the beans the same as every other place in Las Cruces. The taco was the best of the plate. Wow, the service was awesome!! Gilbert served us and he went above and beyond. We had a quesadilla, a combination plate, and posole. The posole was delicious and very satisfying. The quesadilla was made with asadero cheese and had a mean cheese pull. Lastly, however I did not eat the combination plate I did have a bite of the red enchilada and the sauce was to die for. Awesome staff, clean environment and recipes that are reminiscent of grandma or Tia cooking for you. Everything tastes fresh or homemade. Decent, inexpensive food. Placed the order and got it like five minutes later. This is the place to go if you want something pretty good really fast. I had the gordita platter with beans and rice. The beans and rice were a little bland but still good. The gordita was really good but maybe a little on the greasy side. Even moreso than what gorditas normally are. They have a side bar which is really cool. You just help yourself to sauces and don't have to pay extra for them. Like hot sauces, green sauce, sour cream and even cabbage. The most disgusting food I have ever been served. I got the red enchilada plate and they used so much, I mean SO MUCH, cheese there were pools of grease on top. The tortillas were chewy and undercooked, and the lettuce on the plate was obviously old and wilted. My mother's dish was not better- the brisket in her green chili burrito was dried out and old and it was soggy like it had been sitting out too long. On top of that, there was hardly even any chili in it. The waitress was nice enough, but she should NOT have served this food. I am never going back and will tell everyone this place is a waste of time and money. read more

One word: Disgusting! I ordered the Chile Relleno plate. Upon starting to eat this heap of disgust, I was greeted by a horrific fried "thing" in my mouth. I pulled out what appeared to be the fried remains of old chile skin...it was utterly disgusting. My wife didn't even finish her plate because it was not worthy of eating. We both got sick that night, and I hope they lose business when this review is read. Miguel's is outstanding. We eat there once, sometimes twice per week. They have gone to great lengths to make the restaurant gluten free. There is no flour in the restaurant as Miguel has flour tortillas made for him at another establishment. They have several steps they take to insure that the brisket and ground meats are as free of fat and grease as possible. Beers are only 1.89 during happy hour with free chips and salsa and an amazing salad bar. Some of the best gluten free rellanos I have ever had and the green sauce and salsa are fabulous. They are a family run restaurant so dont expect big restaurant type sit down service but they will take care of you like family. read more

Miguel's has recently become my favorite go-to Mexican place. I love the food and the manager is super friendly. Some of my favorites are the chile rellenos and the Chocolate cake. They just added enchiladas and crispy tacos, which I've heard are delicious. There's a drive-thru and the prices seem reasonable for the product. Clearly, there is no shortage of outstanding Mexican restaurants in Las Cruces. Nor is there a shortage of outstanding Mexican restaurants where I live just outside Chicago. I've yet to have even a borderline bad meal at any Mexican restaurant in Las Cruces. Some do one thing extraordinarily well, some do many, so it is impossible to pick one experience over the other. That said, this review will focus mainly on the abundance of gluten free dishes available. I can, and do, eat any and everything, but my wife is extremely limited due to severe gluten restrictions. As anyone with gluten issues understands, this makes eating out horribly difficult, and risky. At Miguel's, she never feels she is getting a lesser meal, and has never had a reaction to the food. They understand gluten free and the dangers of cross contamination. There are a number of restaurants (not just Mexican) we go to regularly where, even though she has a meal she enjoys, I feel that the overall compromise has lessened the quality of my meal. After trying several different dishes here, I have never felt that. Everything has been excellent.We were at Miguel's several times during out last visit to New Mexico, as we were on our visit before that...and will be on our next visit. Sure, we'll go to the other places as well, but for the times my wife wants to feel completely at ease, we will be at Miguel's. read more

Oh we love Miguels. It's perfect for weekend lunches, when you want to take a break from running errands. It's a sit down place (and a drive through) with a happy, laid back and casual atmosphere. I would imagine it's a good date place for younger people. You order at the counter and they bring the food. There's a little salsa bar, and there chips are very good (not free, though). I've eaten there twice, and I ate a chicken taco with green sauce that nearly made me cry for its juicy heart-warming goodness. It's possible that the best thing to order at Miguels can change from day to day. The prices are (very) reasonable. Beers are about 2.50 domestic and 3.50 import. read more

Finally tried Miguels after driving past several times. I was pleasantly surprised! The decor is very nice, homey - Mexican style. The crispy red pork tacos are delish. mmmmm. I think the food is much better than Robertos. Will definitely be back. read more
