My girlfriend's car had a problem where the engine fan would stay on, and we wouldn't notice until her battery was dead. This situation happened twice. The first time we replaced the battery, I thought that was the problem. The second time, we thought it might be a parasitic draw on the battery. We took to too a couple of places on a Thursday, and no one could see us for the rest of the week except for Mike and Sons. I took the vehicle there and told him about the problems, and they said we could bring them back in the morning, and they would check everything and have it back on the same day. I brought it back around 8 a.m., and he said he would call before or right around noon. Sure enough, he did! While he could not replicate the problem, he gave me helpful advice should the fan ever remain on after the engine is turned off. He ran tests on my car for most of the time he had it and re-ran them to make sure. Since he couldn't find the exact problem and no errors presented themselves, he also discounted the price. Multiple shops failed to fix my A/C, but Mike & Sons fixed it no problem. They were courteous, professional, and utterly transparent throughout the entire process. Another time, I had my car towed to AAA Riverside because AAA Roadside Assistance said it would save money. The towing was fine, but the mechanics at AAA Riverside (who apparently are paid on commission) were either incompetent, dishonest, or both - they nearly destroyed my engine and tried to get me to pay them another $2000 on top of the $2500 I'd already paid them, because I apparently needed a whole new engine. I immediately called Mike & Sons to get a second opinion. I ended up having my car towed to them from AAA. Once M&S took a look at my vehicle, they discovered that not only did I NOT need a new engine, but the AAA mechanics had botched the repairs, causing oil to leak everywhere. They got my car running, but Anthony at M&S said he wanted to keep working on it because he wasn't happy with "how" it was running. Turns out, it was a fuel issue - the people at AAA hadn't even bothered to do a fuel test before telling me to pay them for a whole new engine. M&S got my car running like new in less than a day after they figured out the issue, and they charged a more than reasonable price. Mike & Sons do great work, they're hardworking, and they're honest. I will absolutely recommend them to anyone needing auto repair or maintenance work. They can fix most things, and handle their business with integrity - if they can't, they'll refer you to someone trustworthy who can. read more

At first I thought this place knows what they are doing and then I met the owner Anthony he gave me attitude I didn't think nothing of it maybe he had a rough day or something but then when I called to check on my car he said there is no status on my car because he hasn't received the part yet and my car has been there since Friday and nothing has been done it's Tuesday now and now going on Wednesday wow no curtesy call saying hey your cars parts are on their way or we will get back to you or nothing. read more

I have, for years, found this outfit a dishonest, deceitful ripoff, sizing up who they can victimize. For years, my senior sister, only went to 2 auto repairs within walking distance, wrongly put her faith in them, Mike & Sons being the main culprit. She was always overcharged, told things needed repair or replacement when they didn't - typical dishonest car repair shop tactics. Females are the perfect victims, who can easily be fooled, lied to, & manipulated. All these shops know this, & take full advantage. This latest encounter w/ Anthony & Craig was after my sister underwent major cancer surgery, then placed in a nursing home for over 4 weeks. Prior to surgery, she discovered one wheel tilted out at a slant from the car. As I told here to absolutely not go to Mike & Sons, she went to another repair shop who quickly found that the car's frame was so entirely rusted, that this wheel had partially busted from the frame, showed her the entire frame, and told her it could not be fixed, & the car was salvage material. All throughout the past many years, she went to Mike & Sons for her oil changes & other problems. Anthony CLAIMED he had told my sister about the frame deterioration, but when I asked her, she told me he hadn't said more than there was some rusting. It is the responsibility of the mechanic not only to make it clear that this was a dangerous vehicle, & the entire wheel assembly could bust off the car at any time, & should refuse to do work on a car in such condition. It is obvious their main interest was in running up repair bills, with no parts returned to her, when they should have said, "Junk the car - the wheels & other components are ready to bust off the rotted frame." THE LAST DECEITFUL DEALING: The car's battery was an Interstate, 1-yr. old, w/mst of its life left. When she was in the nursing home, a neighbor started, ran & moved her car 2-3 times a week for street sweeping. Never ONCE a problem starting it. Upon leaving the nursing home, she tried to start the car, & must have flooded the carb. She failed to consult with me, & calls Anthony. It's basic knowledge that a simple jump start will get a car running, even if the battery is near dead. Just with a set of jumper cables attached to another car. I've done this countless times over my years, & maybe 2 times had a battery so bad it wouldn't start. BUT WHAT DID ANTHONY CLAIM HE DID? He "spent hours" charging the car up from his truck, & it still wouldn't start. A watchful neighbor said after Anthony (or whomever) arrived, the person spent a very short amount of time w/her car, & then just TOWED it the TWO blocks to his shop, where he puts the battery on a charger, which charged it up, proving he lied that it "couldn't be charged, & then hands her with a $135 bill ! What an obvious "ripoff circus". There is no way he could not start the car, when 90+% of cars with weak batteries can be started with a simple jump from ANY car. More absurd that a repair shop's truck, equipped w/a large charger/generator couldn't start it, & then lie that they we spent hours trying to do so on the street, & couldn't charge the battery after hours of a charger on it." Any mechanic could have started this car from the charger on his truck. Even if this were true, he could have taken the battery out, & taken it 2 blocks to his shop; charged the battery & put it back in - END OF STORY. My sister is a slower, old lady & was Mike & Sons long time victim of their overcharges & questionable repairs. She had spent a considerable amount of money over a decade at Mike & Sons. Have a shred of integrity. Do the minimal of repair, & strongly advise getting rid of the car. Of course, when I read Anthony the riot act, he claims he had done so for a long time. But that's not the story I got from my sister. When I find out about this the very next morning, I call Mike & Sons & get Anthony's sidekick, Craig, I can't detail all the BS from Craig & then covered up by Anthony ( Craig - NO invoice for the car; never saw any Lumina there,) Then, 5 min. later CRAIG calls me, & changes his whole story, that he located the invoice, & that he saw the car in the shop! Isn't this too much? All the "worship" posts, customers praise to the skies, rave about how fantastic, honest & reasonably priced, really make we wonder if the posters are so mechanically unknowledgeable, or if they are planted posters . I then call Anthony & tell him how he ripped off my sister, and I want her money returned. He says, "No way". He screams at me, & I return the favor. After I threatened him w/BBB & State Licensing, at least he returned $100 to my sister, but, barely being able to stand after her cancer surgery so weakened her, she had to suffer from his verbal abuse to her for 45 minutes to get her card credited. Once again Mike and Son's come through. We had taken my husbands car to the dealership for a sensor issue because it would not start. The issue gets fixed however once we leave, we notice an issue the next day where the AC was kicking on for one side of the car and not the other and then making funny noises in the dash. My husband called and the dealership basically acted like they did nothing wrong and did not even offer to look at it unless we wanted to pay them to do so....well of course I want you to fix what you did wrong, but I'm most definitely not paying for your error! There was obviously something that was not reconnected correctly when they were finished as none of these issues had occurred prior to our visit there. The service manager was a jerk and convinced himself that none of his staff could do a damn thing wrong. Lord, I hate those types of people! I convinced my husband that we take the car to Mike and Son's as this is who I prefer to work on my vehicle due to honesty, respect, and fairness in their prices. We take it in and sure enough Anthony tells us that the dealership did not reset a system that they should have after the sensor replacement. Unfortunately, Anthony and team are unable to reset the system at their shop but he was nice enough to tell my husband who to contact at the dealership and told him to say that he had sent us and assured us that they would take care of it. It will be the last time I deal with that dealership due to their unprofessionalism and poor customer service, but I once again appreciate Mike and Son's honesty. This place ripped me out of my money, wasted my time and sadly they did more damage than fixing. First of all when I went to Mike and Sons I stated the problem I was having with my car which was shaking when I accelerated and it was feeling like a wagon while I was driving it and they stated that it was the front arm lower control ball joint, tie rods and I needed new tires. They didn't fix anything.I had to call them for updates on my car. They took forever with my car and when I got it back the first time , when I rode off, all my car lights on the dashboard came on. Immediately I called them and they told me to bring it back and they would work on it in the morning because the shop was closed . They stated that they sensor is so close to the lower control that they would replace it for free because he knew his mechanic had messed that up. RED FLAG. When I got the car back , the shaking had not stopped it more so slowed down but the lights on the dashboard were off. Pregnant at the time, i didn't drive much and I wasn't able to be as mobile as I wanted so when I had my child and noticed that the car was still having problems, I went to another mechanic. A year later now, The mechanic stated that I was was still having the same problem. Except this time, I had new tires. So I immediately called Mike and Sons and I was in the Last month of my warranty for the service. They stated that they would still give me warranty on the lower control arm getting fixed because they had purchased the part. When I took the car up there, he called me and stated that it wasn't my lower arm control, it was my cars rotors. Wasted my time again and after clearly seeing that they were not assessing my car correctly the first time, I refused to continue to give them more money when I KNOW they didn't fix the problem the first go around. I ended up going to CK Auto in Lombard and they fixed my lower control arm and tie rods in 1 service day and they updated me the entire time they had my car. Yes it was costly but my car is FINALLY driving how it's supposed too. MIKE AND SONS are the now the reason I am out of $2300 because THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. BY NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM, THEY MADE MORE. Being a woman and trusting a mechanic to actually fix your car is already a hassle within itself so for them to rip me off and charge me for something they didn't fix, this further explains what's wrong with the world today. !! This place has high ratings and they're misleading people. IF I COULD GIVE THEM 0 stars, I WOULD. I have attached my receipts of both mechanics. I'm going to say this, I work for a large company that has always taken our support vehicles here for routine maintenance and repairs. They have never overcharged us, they have always been honest even when the opportunity has existed to pad a bill to such a large company that would never question it. I have now begun taking my personal vehicles to Anthony. I would not go anywhere else. There is a reason why their parking lot is always full, and why they have been in business for so many years. I started to take my cars to them about a year and a half ago. Took my 2001 Buick Park Ave with brake line problems, no problem for them. Took my wife's 2010 Kia Sedona about 5 months ago for brakes and got a great price. Now on 8/13/2017 the Kia doesn't want to get out of park. But I was able to screw with it and get the car to them on Sunday, left the keys and a very long note of what was going on. Next morning they called my wife having it fixed and replacing the lights for my brake lights. Also for a great price. I for sure thought it would be between $250-$300 easy. Extremely glad it wasn't because I wouldn't have known how to pay. After having waited until the last minute per usual, I was a little up against it with my registration renewal deadline when my car failed its emissions test, especially considering I was going out of the country on business the following day. After searching Yelp, I chose Mike & Sons based on the great reviews and proximity to my house. I expected the repair to run me somewhere between $300 and $1200, so I was thrilled when I got an email saying it was only going to cost $135. Upon returning stateside, I picked up my car on a chilly late October morning, and was pleasantly surprised to find it was already warmed up (I'd called ahead to make sure they were open in the early AM). When I went to pay, I was told that -- caps to emphasize the insanity of it all -- THEY'D TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR THE FREAKING EMISSIONS TEST and it had passed, saving me an enormous amount of time/headache and allowing me to renew my registration the day before it expired. About 6 weeks ago my brakes acted up, cautiously drove my car to a (other) mechanic/shop where after having the vehicle all day I was told "there's nothing wrong with your car" when clearly failure to depress the brake pedal is an issue. So fast forward to last week, same issue again, my son had work done on his car and was very happy with the result and price so I walk over to "his" mechanic - Mike and Sons, explained issue and instead of sticking me with a tow, Anthony was kind enough to walk over and drive vehicle to the shop. Called me back quick enough, told me what issue was and except for parts delivery out of their control due to holidays, car was taken care of and is in best braking condition it has been in past 2/3 years.
