Mike Anderson's BBQ is one of the family's go to place to bring out of towner friends and family! The brisket is particularly impressive, with a perfectly smoky flavor and a tender, juicy texture that pulls apart effortlessly. The sausage is flavorful, with a nice snap, and pairs well with their house-made barbecue sauces, which offer a good balance of tang and sweetness. They offer a lot of delectable sides but the cornbread loaded with cheese as a side is a must try!

They have the best BBQ in the Dallas area. Just a stone's throw away from love field airport. The service is fast and all the staff to include the owner is very professional and friendly. Reminds you of what Texas once was. They have southern any conservative decorations. Anyone visiting Dallas need to visit this place

Mike Andersen's BBQ House offers a quintessential Texas barbecue experience. The ambiance immediately transports you to a classic Texas setting, with rustic graphics and decor. The setup here is a straight-forward cafeteria-style, where you tell your server what kind of meat and sides you want, and slide your tray to the end where you pay. One cool feature is their self-serve area where you can load up on slaw, onions, and pickles to add to your meal for free. They recently updated their rewards system, but unfortunately, old points from years ago don't transfer over, which may be disappointing for longtime customers like my aunt. The free soft-serve vanilla ice cream and cake cones offered at the end of the meal was a sweet gesture to encourage another visit. The BBQ plate was decent and met my southern food expectations in terms of flavor (smokey BBQ, buttery cheesy grits, and briny sides), the ambiance was very "Texas", and the self-service options for sides were convenient. The price seemed a little high for $18 a plate if I may say so myself for southern BBQ eats. I will say it kept me full all day so that is a plus. The hours are also strange opening at 10am and closing at 2:30pm Monday through Saturday. I most likely will not be back in the UT Southwestern area again as this a one-off visit, but you are more than welcome to give this place a try if you are around and are craving BBQ!

This was a local hotel worker's suggestion. When you walk in it looks like the place is full of memorabilia and cool things to look at. When ordering your food you can see mostly everything in front of you like an assembly line. The food was ok. Not as satisfying as I would've liked for Texas BBQ. The brisket was tender and the chicken was moist and once the bbq sauce and pickles were added it made the sandwiches good. The peach cobbler was not made with enough love and the devilish eggs I did not get a chance to taste because I didn't realize until afterwards that it had meat inside, possibly pork. Overall it's not bad but also not the greatest. The price was also decent we spent about $30.

Sliced brisket sandwich with a jalapeño and cheddar cheese link It was alright, the bread was a bit tough though.

I've eaten here years ago, I won't say how long ago or I would date myself, LOL!! Anywho, I will say that's probably why I never came back, was because it wasn't memorable. I had a work lunch and the majority of the team wanted to eat here, so I had to suck it up and eat here again. Listen, it's definitely not the worse bbq, but it's not the best either. The brisket was a bit dry and the sausage link I had was good. The service was also good. Listen, I believe if you work in the Parkland hospital area, then this is your place to eat lunch because I saw a lot of Parkland employess here yesterday.

Thought we would stop for a quick lunch before our time at the range. Save yourself some time and energy and grab bbq from somewhere else. This is not the place. We both got the 3 meat plate. Brisket, ribs, sausage and 2 sides. I had okra and the dill potato salad. The wife had bbq beans and mustard potato salad that she added some relish too. The Brisket No flavor at all. You can tell it had been sitting as it had oxidized and stiffened up. The Sausage Although the Sausage had a nice snap, again no flavor. The Ribs When I say over smoked and tasted like creosote, plus they don't pull the membrane. I'm sorry, not the best bbq eating experience. The Ambiance Booth and table seating. Situated in the hospital district, I would say they are banking on hungry tired workers who just want something to eat to make it through. The Service It's cafeteria / buffet style. Grab your lunch tray, Mike cuts your meat the sends you on the way to get your sides. No real interactions with customers even after telling them it was our first time. Overall, not a good eating experience. Best thing I had on my plate was the okra. The best interaction was seeing a friend and sister in the faith we had not seen. Clearly we're we're sent here to see her come in.

We debated for a bit and then decided to do a group order. Our Group of 7 people ordered the Cattleleack Platter and sides of burnt end beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and Mac and cheese. Oh and don't forget to ask for cornbread too. Inside tey had large tables and benches to sit at and we secured our spot. The food was delicous. The Beef Rib was huge and melted in my mouth. The brisket was amazing and seasoned well. Everything tasted great. Everyone ate til they were full and we still had leftovers. I ate them later at night and they were still good. By the time the store opened, the line had grown to being over twenty parties long, so plan accordingly if you don't want to be waiting for a while. Between the four in our party, we shared a three meat BBQ plate with bacon burnt ends, brisket, and their house made sausage. For our two sides, we chose their hatch chile mac n cheese and their Mexican street corn. Following the recommendations of many Yelpers, we also ordered two of the brisket tostadas and two of the birria tacos. When we received our plate of meat, I was a bit surprised at how little of each meat there was on the plate, but in hindsight, this ended up being the perfect amount of food, where everyone was able to get a sample of everything. Of the items we ordered, my favorite was definitely the burnt ends. These were melt in your mouth tender, and was insanely rich and decadent. Each of the three pieces in our order had a beautiful bark on the outside that resulted in a satisfying crunch with every bite. The casing to the sausage was snappy and the sausage itself was very juicy. The brisket was fall apart tender. The brisket was a bit light on seasoning, so I ended up using the Aztec Gold BBQ sauce they had sitting at the table with it. The sides that we chose were both delicious. The pasta in the mac n cheese was cooked perfectly and the noodles was generously sauced. The elote was sweet and smokey, and the Cotija cheese added creaminess to the side. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Hurtado Barbecue and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit if you're in Texas and are looking for great tasting BBQ.

Even though the playground is usually his favorite spot, he didn't hesitate & insisted we go to Kafi for the brisket. That pretty much sums up how my family feels about this place. I follow the chef/owner on Instagram (@kafibbq), and the amount of effort and detail he puts into his craft has resulted in multiple return visits for me. This review is for my latest visit. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Kafi BBQ can be found in a shopping strip in Irving-Valley Ranch. Only opened Friday - Sunday, on my most recent Sunday visit around dinner time, Kafi was packed. The patrons were a great mix of families, BBQ lovers, and those looking for high quality Halal meats. Smoke was in the air. 1 Star. Service - The staff is super friendly and nice. Pro Tip - Go for lunch or before 6 before items are sold out. A few items were sold out on my most recent visit (my fault I arrived at 6:45) and the staff weren't aware of what was available, leading to some confusion, but they were so nice it didn't impact my meal. 1 Star. Food - By now, you've probably read or heard about Kafi's Wagyu Brisket. For me, I love following @kafibbq on Instagram so I can see what Salahodeen is cooking up. On this visit, it was the Brisket Sandwich. First off, the house baked bread roll is soft, but firm enough to hold Kafi's famous brisket on a pile of home made cole slaw and pickles. The result was one of the best BBQ sandwiches I've eaten. The bite was soft, smokey, crunchy, and tart (from the pickles). It was a special, and I'm not sure if Kafi will keep this on the menu, but I hope they do. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. It's pricey, but it's worth it. While the brisket is great, I suggest you follow them on Instagram to see what's cooking and plan your visit around the specialty items. 1 Star.
