Mike's is our place for pizza and steaks . Their pizzas a consistently great. The Grumpy Grandpa, square thin crust with extra cheese is the best we've ever had. Their Cheese Steaks are very large, packed with meat and in my opinion "the best in Pottstown", and I've yet to find anything better in Montco. Their fries are great and they have the best onion rings. They offer fries with many different toppings. The staff is very friendly and the pizzeria is clean. I do recommend you try Mike's Brick Oven, you will not be disappointed. read more

One of THEE BEST PIZZA'S I've ever had!! This is truly a gem in Pottstown, and you don't want to sleep on the experience. The pizza was absolutely delicious!! Cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of cheese and sauce on every slice. My favorite part was that when you get a GREAT pie, the slice gives you that fold because the crust was crisp The place was clean, and the staff was very pleasant. The Stromboli was so beautiful I didn't want to cut it! It was absolutely delicious! Packed full of flavor and meat. They placed the sides exactly as requested. In addition to my earlier review: purchased a chicken salad sandwich for my 89 yo father for dinner. Put it away for later and upon opening I found it loaded with onions, tomatoes and lettuce. I specifically stated NO vegetables, just chicken salad on a roll! Once again, NO ONE READ THE COMMENTS SECTION! Good thing no one has any food allergies! I don't think I'm going to order from here again. Paid over $100 for the food and it was NOT what I ordered. Calling and complaining is useless as when I was in to pickup prior to this I witnessed how people get treated by their employees, attitude, attitude and more attitude. I got the garlic bread roll cheesesteak. When I unwrapped it it looked a little thin. The roll was perfect for making garlic bread. Not much bread and crusty. The meat was good but could have used a little more. I'm not sure what was going on with the cheese. It had a good amount of mushrooms and fried onions but they could have spent some more time on the grill together. Something burnt the roof of my mouth. I don't know if that was the butter from garlic bread or the oil was that was dripping out of the cheesesteak. This cheesesteak was really close to being really good. I ordered 6 hoagies on Wednesday hearing good things about the place. Had my daughter pick up the hoagies and when she got home noticed a hoagie kissing. What a bummer but things happen, I called back to a horrible service manager. Was told to come back an hour later to pick up a redo. What! The food was amazing a few years back. I ordered recently and the quality has definitely gone down dramatically. I used to love their garlic bread cheesesteaks, they were to die for. Recently I got one and it lacked on meat, flavor was bland, and it was cold when I got it. And aside from the food, I had a friend who worked there and some of what I learned frightened me. Drinking on the job, moving around food without gloves, food hitting the floor and still being used, and products that sat out all day would still be used late into the evening. We used to like their food, but it is kind-of average at best now. As with other reviewers, their customer service leaves alot to be desired. The person working the phone and register seemed overwhelmed and it came across in a hurried phone call, their frustration was obvious. Also, this place was still charging a convenience fee for credit cards. This is unheard of in today's business environment. There are better options available. We tried their delivery, and 2 times they screwed up the order. I think they have potential in this undeserved area, but someone needs to step in and do some real work to get the place straightened out. What a wonderful and memorable experience! As some say, once is all you need when the experience is so great. Let me explain how the accident happened. I was asked to pick up some food here and the person asked if I wanted something in that they would buy for my troubles. I haven't eaten at Mike's Brick Oven in quite awhile and was not too disappointed in the past having only ever gotten cheesesteaks with sauce only. However, I felt a little daring so I went for a small Italian Stromboli and asked for the sauce to be baked inside. The other two items were a Turkey Hoagie and a Cheeseburger Hoagie. The order was placed at 6:51 and we were told it would be an hour. I decided to arrive early so as to get the hot order as it was done so it would be "hot" when delivering. I arrived at 7:35 and asked about the order and the girl behind the counter with the maroon tinted hair responded and said that the cheeseburger hoagie would be about a minute. I asked her if I could pay and she responded with the affirmative. The receipt was printed at 7:41. She also put the Turkey hoagie on the counter and commented that she would leave the Stromboli on top of the oven to keep it hot. At about 7:55 I asked about the cheeseburger hoagie and was told any minute and she called out to remind them. Meanwhile, people are coming in and out and getting orders. A fellow came in and ordered at the counter around 8. He was served rather quickly being a regular from the interaction between him and the girl. After he was served, I asked about the Hoagie being cooked and was told any minute and she hollered to the back to remind them. The Cheeseburger Hoagie arrived to the counter at 8:12. The girl grabbed the Stromboli off the top of the oven, which by now has been sitting there the entire time I have been standing there in excess of 35 minutes. I opened the box and felt the Stromboli and it was warm, at best, even to the point that the cheese you could see through the slits was already coagulated, like the pizza sitting on the counter for slices. I told her it was warm and looking in the slits you could see there was no sauce in it. She insisted there was for she could see it. Also, there was a container of sauce in the box. She offered to put it in the oven again and I commented as to, "Why, to cook it again and make the dough crispy?". I should have known the sauce "thing" would be a problem. The fellow in the back making the pizzas looked terribly familiar. There was this gentleman that worked at Freshie's in Spring City, when they were open, and he couldn't follow directions then. On the second Stromboli I ordered from there, and the first one he didn't bake the sauce in it either and I thought I would try again, the sauce was not baked in but was merely on the side. I drove back and said that this is not what I ordered. The gentlemen took it back to him and an argument appeared to ensue. I suppose he will only do it one way, his way, and not what the customer requests. Thank God he is not making hoagies for they would all get hot peppers regardless what the customer wants. When I got home, the Stromboli when cut showed that the cheese was already firm and the center was warm to the touch and there was no sauce baked in as requested. Now here is what really grinded my gears. Why would you make the Stromboli at least 40 to 45 minutes before the Cheeseburger Hoagie? Which one takes longer to cook? How long does it take to cook a Hamburger? How long does it take to bake a Stromboli? I must say, the shop appeared to be nothing more than a cluster (you fill in the blank) after watching if for almost 40 minutes. There is no coordination between anything there. I saw a walkin order a pizza and it was made and delivered to the counter in the time I was standing there. But apparently, a Hamburger takes much longer to cook. Mike Crater has gotten our business for the past 20 years, however, not so much in the past five. The food was always good, some great, some just okay but never disappointed. The lackadaisical attitude of the girl in the front, the lack of alacrity of the staff with the food being served is cold or warm at best. Oh, and by the way, the Cheeseburger Hoagie was warm as well, I wonder how long it was sitting in the back waiting to go out to the counter? read more

Fantastic food, especially the sandwiches. However, customer service over the phone is horrible. We have had an issue every time I call and we usually order at least once a month if not every two weeks. This time the individual took just one item of my order, she told me an hour and a half for delivery and hung up on me. After 3 hours of waiting I called back. But different a individual answered my call telling me that they never give times and I must have called the wrong number. I told her that I just hit redial. She told me that she has to have a manger speak with me because I can't just go ahead and cancel an order. She placed me on hold and then came back and told me that I never called them and that they don't have my order. Saturday afternoon around 2. The food: pizza, salad, was excellent. No one acknowledged us until maybe 10 min. We were not sure if you had to order at counter or sit in one of the two booths for dine in. No one at all was visible except the backs of the cooks in another room. This is a small"house turned into a business" I guess we were expecting more since the wall was covered in awards. It appears this is more of a take out business. The two empty tables were not cleaned, our pizza came out before the salads, wrong dressing for salad. This business only has drinks in bottles and cans in their cooler where you help yourself. That is not a bad thing, just making you aware of type of business. In summary, pizza was excellent, service was a little lacking, needs improvement in cleanliness. We've been loyal customers for a while now, but we've finally had enough. Called to order today and was told they weren't taking delivery orders for the next hour. Fine, happy to pick up. Placed the order. 30-35 minutes. Husband went to pick up but they hadn't made the food. Staff informed him that we didn't call and they didn't have the slip. No apologies, nothing- just insisted we didn't call. (Yes, I even double checked my phone log to be certain I wasn't crazy, and we did indeed call the right place!) since he was there, he placed the order again and waited on it- another 40 minutes. Paid for the order (again, still no apology or discount, etc offered), and when he went to grab the drink for the kids meal, there was none in the correct size in date available. Instead of allowing him to take the larger one (I mean, $0.35 for the inconvenience and to make up for the fact that all the others were expired seems reasonable), they refused that too. This used to be our favorite spot but after months of declining service, we sadly won't return, no matter how good the food is. A simple "we're sorry" or the least bit of courtesy goes a long way. My wife and I are new to the area and wanted to try one of the pizza places that were close and doing delivery. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza, a turkey hoagie, a South Street bully, and some French fries (requested them to be crunchy). We tried the fries first and were immediately disappointed. They were vehemently undercooked, nowhere near what we asked for. It was like eating a greasy potato slice. Honestly, wouldn't even give these a second chance. Then we tried our sandwiches. These were by far the saving grace. My hoagie was well put together, crisp taste and texture, solid all around sandwich. Wife really enjoyed her sandwich as well. It came in still hot and the overall consistency and flavor was what she loves in a steak sandwich. Last, we tried the pizza. Not as bad as the fries but certainly underwhelming. My wife says it tasted undercooked and doughy which I tend to agree with. I compared it to those pizza places that precook everything and then leave it under a heat lamp until someone wants it. We didn't enjoy the flavor or texture. Still debating on whether we should give the pizza another chance. Overall, the sandwiches were the only saving grace. The wings are hit or miss, sometimes they are hot and coated in sauce and other times they are just kinda covered in sauce. My family has been ordering food from Mike's for as long as he has been in business. The food is for the most part very good, but the call takers need a lesson in customer service, especially when they are running the Wednesday Specials. I understand that they are super busy on that day, but if you can't handle it, then don't run the specials. The other problem is, that they often take your order, and after giving specific instructions due to food allergies, the order is still not made properly, i.e. my daughter has a tomato allergy, so we ask for NO tomatoes on her hoagie. When we unwrap the hoagie, you can see where tomatoes have been put onto the sandwich, then removed, because the tomato seeds are still on the sandwich. If you have an allergy to tomatoes, it includes the seeds also. Another negative is that if you use a debit or credit card for payment, they add 75 cents to your order without you knowledge. Not cool ! Lastly, don't ask for a total, if you call an order in, because you will be told, "we are too busy to give you a total", or "if you need to ask for a total then don't call in." So, sad to say, but my family will no longer be patrons of Mike's, which is not by choice, but by necessity, because I will not tolerate rudeness but for so long before I react to it. Actually, Ice House, Argento's,, and others are much closer to our home, but we like to frequent all of the local restaurants to help out the small businesses, especially during this pandemic. read more

Mike's, good food and pizza, offers delivery and carry out service, even offers coupons and specials. However take that with a big grain of salt, because their customer service down right SUCKS!! They never honor their coupons and it's a song and a dance to get them to even entertain your requests. I say why even bother offering anything if you're not going to allow customers to place an order. Hung up on me multiple times and gave me a nasty attitude over the phone. Like I said before, they have good pizza and meals, but if they won't allow you to order what you want, why bother. If you don't mind being told what to order and enjoy a good hassle, Mike's is for you, but if they are willing to give you this much trouble just to order and get pissed at you for trying to order, who to say they wouldn't add some spit to your pizza and food, then give you an up charge for it??? read more

Where do i start!! I have ordered pizzas from and has never had an issue with their pizza. However, today i ordered an Italian hoagie today with a pizza. Again, the pizza was fine but this sandwich had really hard bread and there were only two meats on the hoagie (ham/salami) this had to be the worst hoagie i've had since moving to this area. They charge for the mayo, pickles and any other fixings that normally come with any hoagie!! Which is ridiculous!!! And... So i decided to pick up my order because delivery is like and additional $10 after all the fees. Which again is ridiculous!!! So as i walk in there is people inside the place without masks!!!! and not one employee has said anything. I'm looking around to see if i'm the only uncomfortable person in this place and clearly i was... The very young cashier was so busy having a conversation with these guys who obviously were friends of hers that she gave them free soda and never told these guys to put their mask on.. She barely had her mask on (go figure). The last time i walked in this place a customer who was obviously hungry took her mask down and started eating her food right at the counter!! And again no one said a thing.. Needless to say, i care about my health too much to order food from a place where people off the street can walk in with no mask and it's ok. read more

I can at least say their delivery is quick, too bad it's not worth it. I've given this place a few chances, and it just fails each time. My last order was a pizza with pepperoni, onions and green peppers. All those toppings and yet the pizza had zero taste! The onions weren't actually cooked either. It tasted as if they forgot and just threw them on last minute. The pizza lacks that traditional brick oven taste as well - don't know how they managed that one. We also ordered some wings in the hot sauce. They came to us in a mush sauce! I have never seen that before. And it isn't real hot sauce either. It seems they tried to cut corners to save money. For HOT wings, they used what I can only assume is their weaker mild sauce, and sprinkled on some red pepper flakes and cracked black better. Worst wings I've ever tried.
