I took my 2005 Accord to 3rd Street Garage to have coils and plugs replaced with 'OEM' parts last summer (2024). Just recently (in 2025), the engine started idling rough and the check engine light started intermittently going off, so I took the car to Christian Brothers. Christian Brothers said that the coils in my car were original (from 2005) and that the plugs were fairly new but were not OEM so 3rd Street Garage never replaced the coils, they replaced the plugs with non-OEM plugs and charged me for coils that they never installed. 3rd Street Garage also broke several of the plastic coil connectors and several spark plug coil boots which I now have to replace. I know this to be true because the car has never had the coils or plugs changed, my uncle was the original owner and I have all the service records. No doubt the fact that this car is older made the plastic coil connectors and spark plug coil boots somewhat brittle but none of this damage was ever mentioned to me by 3rd Street Garage, so I've been driving around with a compromised vehicle for several months, oblivious to damage caused by 3rd Street Garage. 3rd Street Garage charged me over $800 to do a less than mediocre job that caused more damage than it fixed and now, less than a year later I'm stuck with an over $1000 bill to replace coils and plugs and to repair the damage caused by 3rd Street Garage. IMO, 3rd Street Garage is dishonest and does not care one bit about their customers. If you use them you should be prepared to pay more than you paid them initially to fix all of the issues and damage that they caused. read more

My vehicle was making a "squealing" noise that cars give you when it's about that time to get your brakes serviced so I brought "him" in to 3rd street. Mr.Mike called back later and explained that I had plenty of padding in rear and front and rotors were looking great as well. The noise was probably dust residue or simply from it being cold that night. BTW it is a hybrid. I explained I'm also getting warnings on the dash. He further explained in detail about city and highway driving and how that may also vary. i just want to say it's ridiculous how many times I've had to take my car back to get a valve gasket on a BMW replaced (6 times)and for the extensive time they had work on it for replacing it took two weeks each time I take it back and yet nothing isn't fixed. There's still a burning smoke smell coming out of my engine paid for the service on top of warranty but yet my time and patience has been wasted and looks to seem that with warranty there isn't much of anything getting warranted fix and for the time being urgent to fix right away isn't there main priority at this point idk if I should lose my money 1064 I paid and look for another shop to fix it because this is my only transportations read more

Had my car towed here when it died on the highway.. they diagnosed it with a dead transmission which is believable because it had almost 150,000 miles. They were so kind and helpful and let me keep my car there for a bit while I found someone to buy it. This is the second car we have brought here for work and they always do a great job and charge fairly. Will come again (hopefully not for a while) if I have any more car stuff to handle! read more

I went to this garage after my car turned off and was flashing a light that said low oil pressure. They diagnosed it with a faulty oil pressure sensor. A few days later the same thing happened and then the check engine light also came on. I went back to the garage and the guy at the front said " well we don't know if it's the same problem and we will have to charge you another diagnostic fee". I explained that the car, was doing the same thing it was doing before. And when I mentioned that the labor and parts where under warranty as stated on the receipt he became irritated raised his voice and threw his hands up and said " I have worked at many car shops and this is how things work". I walked in at my appointment time and they told me that their website has been dead for a while and they don't have any appointments (as I've been waiting days till my appointment time to come due I didn't even mention this, and I assumed they would maybe offer some sort of apology). No apology or remorse from the shop. So then, I asked if I could get a diagnostic done on my car, and asked if it could possibly be done by 1:30. They said no, that I would have to get in line. So then I asked if I could get in line. They said I would have to leave my car if I wanted to get in line. I said I couldn't do that and I have kids i have to pick-up from school, but I could wait here in the lobby or drive back at anytime this week that they tell me to to get a diagnostic. My father has sworn by this establishment for years and always had good things to say. I have had previous positive experiences up until recently. I got my radiator replaced on my Yukon about 10 weeks ago.. paid a premium as I thought I would be going through a trusted mechanic. Fast forward present day to recently my car is leaking so I bring it in. Diagnosis is a bad water pump. Asked about my radiator hoses while first talking (something that should've been replaced along with my radiator... or atleast suggested as an option as the disassembly is already done) and the front desk guy caught an attitude. I don't remember his name but it was not Melvin. I got a quote later that day and they tried to gouge me on both the water pump and hoses. During our conversation I was talking to the same dude and he was a dick. I picked up my car and took it elsewhere... turned out they screwed up my radiator install and left the hose I had been asking about touching a belt, which caused the leak. They messed up the overcharged radiator install, were lazy on the diagnosis, and were dismissive in the process. Apparently they were bought by Frisco Automotive a few months ago and that's when things went sideways. We won't be returning and I advise the same for anyone reading this. read more

Paid almost $300 for them to tell me what needed to be done which my husband already had said and absolutely nothing resolved. Both things they claimed they did my husband had previously done to figure out the issue. They ran a Diagnostics and Evac and recharge Freon! They used to be honest and reasonable. I guess those days are long gone! Never again! read more

This is the only place we will take our cars/truck! The whole family uses them. They've done everything for us: simple oil changes, basic maintenance, new brakes, replacing cracked hoses and they even installed a whole new steering wheel with radio controls & cruise control settings built in. I cannot say enough positive things about David and the rest of the team at 3rd Street Garage. I took my Hummer H2 to the Cadillac dealership for an oil change and asked them to look into an issue that I had them address previously. All of a sudden, they wanted 22- oh, excuse me, $2000 (since I'm such a great customer) to put new front wheel bearings on my car. I won't go into further detail on this review, because this isn't about them. Anyway, I got my oil changed and took my car away from there as fast as I could! So, I took to Yelp and started looking at reviews for car repair shops. I called a few with good reviews and eventually got a quote from David at 3rd Street Garage in Frisco. He was actually the first person I called, but we were disconnected. If this happens to you, CALL BACK AS MANY TIMES AS YOU NEED TO - IT'S WELL WORTH IT! I told David about the issue and with 90 seconds he gave me a quote that was saved me about over 75 percent in labor costs alone! As for the parts, he took the time to advise me when to invest in OEM factory parts and when aftermarket purchases generally make the most sense. Furthermore, 3rd Street will actually install customer-provided parts, which is virtually unheard of! They can't warranty those parts, but that's more than understandable. Also, they do not engage in shady mark-up practices (I'm looking at you NTB, Christian Brothers) for parts provided by local suppliers (i.e. Auto Zone). They pass the exact cost on to the consumer. David flat out told me I could call Auto Zone to get their price on the parts I needed and, if I chose to purchase, he just asked that I buy through him so he could warranty the parts. I asked what his proce would be in comparison to Auto Zone. He said, "The same; they're going to quote you exactly what they quote me." I was blown away by his honesty and integrity. Ultimately, I decided to buy the parts online because the price was just too good to pass up, but, as promised, they used them to perform the repairs with no problems. I dropped my car off yesterday afternoon. Even though they don't have a shuttle service like a large dealership, one of the employees took the time to drive me back home personally in the pouring rain! What excellent service! Today, I received two calls; one to inform me that my car would be ready in an hour and another about 45 minutes later to confirm it was complete and ready for pickup at my convenience. I went to pick it up and there were no surprise charges, no laundry list of "other" things that need to be done to my car. Just a sincere thank you for my business and a request to let others know of my experience as they have no advertising other than word-of-mouth. My car is running like it just left the showroom floor and I paid about 30% of the total estimate I received from the dealership - parts AND labor. 3rd Street Garage is now "my" car maintenance/repair shop. I have lived in the Frisco area of Texas now for about three years and have noticed that it is just about impossible to find an honest car repair shop where the staff is honest and reliable... Enter 3rd Street Garage.. I met the owner at the local Auto Zone on Preston Road last year when my Cobra had failed inspection. he told me what had caused the failure and explained that the cost of repair would be a fraction of what the guy at the inspection station had stated. Unfortunately not a good experience. Maybe I just wasn't assigned one of the more experienced mechanics? I had heard good things about the mechanics before, but that was definitely not my experience. I had a engine noise in my daughter's jeep home from college. The mechanic assigned to my car said it was the pulleys, so he pulled out the pulleys and put in new ones. I went to pick up the jeep and the noise was still there, so I didn't want to pay for the new pulleys. He put the old pulleys back on, hopefully they were not destroyed in the dismantling process. (I'll never know.) He next told me that the noise was coming from the air conditioner compressor and gave me a very expensive quote on a new AC system. At this point I didn't trust his judgment, so I told him I would delay the work for now. Plus the AC unit was only about six months old. He still charged me $90 for his diagnosis. I should've gone back and fought for a credit because it was another bad diagnosis. Fortunately, I drove to the dealership (Huffines) that put in the AC unit, they lifted the hood and immediately told me (seriously within seconds at the drive-through) that the noise is the sound of an alternator going out. They charged me a very reasonable fee for a new alternator and said the AC was working perfectly. (If I had followed 3rd Street Garage's advice, I would've been almost $2000 for a new AC unit and I still would've had the engine noise. I would sure hate to have this happen to somebody that is more financially strapped than me.) Two bad diagnoses in a row and my daughter was without her car for a week tells me that they need to improve their staff. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! They totally rip off their customer instead of fixing the vehicles. I took our vehicle because it stalled while driving. I had to pay over $800.00 and it took over 3 weeks. 1. the car sat at the garage for over 2 weeks before they even started working on it. 2. They said that the work they did was authorized but no phone calls were ever made to myself or spouse. 3. When we went to pick up the vehicle, it wouldn't stay on but owner said we still had to pay $800 and if we wanted to it stay on, we would have to pay another $300-$400 more. 4. When we drove it a block, it stalled on us. If we keep pumping the gas pedal, then vehicle will go up to 35mph. We have to take it to another garage to get it running correctle. My 2005 Mustang had always done me well, despite hours on the road and lots of ripping and running. I've seriously taken this car from one side of the country to the other several times. ... So why oh why, did a crazy emissions test end up sucking me dry of hundreds of dollars and left me with a messed up thermostat, and an overheating engine? What followed a pure fall and winter from hell with my car ended up with me having a hydrolocked engine. My car is pretty much paid off, and it's done me well. Considering my goals, in life and financially speaking, I wasn't in a position to "dump" my car or trade it in as so many of my friends and some of these car associates had suggested. I knew my car - it was doing aight. It just needed work. Enter my attempts to get it fixed. Going the AAA route, the car was brought to a shop and given an estimate for a juicy $110. New engine, hydrolocked... $4400. Called another shop, and while I respect their approach, they estimated $6000. [*insert Zorak stare* ] Having just recovered from a layoff that tested my soul, I am just getting to a point of stability and growth. No time for manifesting $6,000 without selling some of my body parts on the black market. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, I put the car up on Craigslist, and nearly cried at the offers. Once I saw that this was not going to end well, I ended up remembering this place when I first had car issues. I was diagnosed (then) with blown head gaskets, and a modest estimate for $1800 on the high end. I called this place, explained the issue. They quoted me SIGNIFICANTLY LESS than what I heard at the other places. I had my car towed over there and asked them to confirm - and they basically informed me that they knew what my issue was, and the price was the price. Long story short, they fixed my car in a week. Other issues were discovered, and fixed, and added to the bill, but not by the ridiculous amounts other places would have charged. I am HOURS away from picking up my car, and I can't tell you how pleased, excited, and happy I am to have found this company. They are fair, honest, and straight to the point with you. Drove my car there without an appointment because the plastic wind diverter under the engine was making a noise if I drove faster than 40 mph. They put my car up on the lift and installed a screw to secure the wind diverter and didn't charge me for the service. As a previous review stated 3rd Street Garage is under new management. A couple of weeks ago I had car issues, my car would not start while at work. As I always had done for the past 4 years, I would call Melvin, I would take the car to him and he would drive me to work about 5 minutes away while he took care of my car. And it was always done when I got off work. Melvin and crew were awesome always honest and the best mechanics anywhere. I had no idea there was a change in Management when I called a couple of weeks ago. I asked if Melvin was there, the person said "no but I can help you" Told him I was having my car towed after work. When I got there I asked "is Melvin here today". He said, "No we own this shop now and Melvin works for me"..... I almost fell over at his rude comments. I thought I would give Bill the benefit of the doubt. Turns out they also own Frisco Automotive down the street and had bought 3rd St Garage. Bill calls me the next morning to tell me my battery is dead and cannot do a test drive without a battery. Said he did not have a spare battery to use to test drive my car. Said I would be responsible for getting a new battery there and then he could test drive my care. I was flustered. I called Auto Zone, got a battery delivered to 3rd St Garage, turns out the battery was still under warranty. I went to pick up the car after work, he wanted to charge me $60 for putting in the new battery I had delivered there.... We had already discussed the diagnostic fees. I reminded him he offered to put in new battery at no charge if I had it delivered. Relunctently he removed the $60 charge. Needless to say I will never go back there again. Sorry Melvin.... I have used them before because their price was half of what was quoted thru a national chain auto repair company (that begins with the letter F). But today, I had a minor need of assistance. I called the other company, both in Frisco and Prosper, and they could not fit me in. All I needed was a panel under my engine to be re-secured. Finally, I decided to drop by 3rd Street Garage to see if they had any time to fix this item. Well, I only had 45 minutes until I needed to be at my desk, but the owner kindly stopped what he was doing and walked over. Inside of 5 minutes, he not only re-snapped the panel back and secure, but because he, I believe, felt that this was such a minor request, he decided to check my oil & fluids, pressure in tires & visual inspection of my brakes. I did NOT ask him to do that, but he did it because, well, this is customer service, right? I paid him a nominal fee and was on my merry way. One week prior to my present issue I paid $700 and one week later they wanted to charge $1000 on an issue that should cost $300. They are a rip off.
