Very good bar food with great service and a fun atmosphere. We stopped in for lunch and grabbed seats at the bar. We sipped on our drinks and put in our food orders. My wife got the Italian Beef, and upgraded to the sweet potato tots. She got a generous portion of the tasty tots, and her Italian Beef was pretty good too. I got the Rachel/Turkey Rueben. It was a gooey and delicious - highly recommended. The bartender was our server, and handled all the rest of the house as it filled up in the early afternoon. She was very pleasant and efficient, and didn't miss a beat taking care of everyone. They had an order mishap and the kitchen handed out a few brat samples to those of us at the bar. Have to say it was one of the best brats I've had in a very long time. Definitely worth trying! read more

We LOVE this place. Came into town late on a Thursday evening when almost everything was closed this time of year. We're staying in egg harbor but this was a close drive and looked promising. Little did we know that we would stumble upon the perfect dive bar feel with such awesome staff. Mike's was taken over by new management in September 2021 and these boys have done a great job with the place! We were the only patrons, but we had an awesome bartender (Scottie) who was so personable and gave some great recommendations. Beer was cold, and the food was hot!! Love the cauliflower bite appetizer. My cheeseburger was also the ideal bar burger. Could not have asked for anything more! They are renovating in the month of March and it sounds like the construction is going to be totally worth it. Peak season is typically much busier and there is outdoor seating. The guys that run this place are super great and we definitely plan to come back! They own the lodging right next door, too, which would be very convenient next trip! I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Mike's Port Pub. We chose this restaurant because it was one of the only places open on Tuesday. The restaurant is small and unassuming, but it has an intriguing menu that offers something for everyone! The portions are huge and offer a lot of bang for your buck. I so wanted to give this place more stars. My friend wanted to go here for breakfast because it was really good, but we went on the one day they didn't have a cook so we had to order lunch at 10:30 in the morning. The poor girl who was bartending/cooking was alone and we think pulled a couple regulars back to help her cook. I understand being short staffed and she did come over once to check on us, but all of us had visable empty drinks and she never asked us if we wanted anything else while we were waiting. C and I have been going to Mike's for 19 years. Mike and Barb sold the place a couple of years ago and we just finally stopped in for dinner a couple of weeks ago. Our initial reaction was that nothing had changed, but we were surprised when we were presented with the new menu. It's quite different than the old menu. More expansive and more expensive. I ordered the interestingly described Walley-e-Cleaver tacos. "Organic mango coconut puree, strawberry mango salsa and red chili aioli - w/chips." Excellent choice (although it's not clear what exactly is organic; certainly not the walleye). The menu items are more creative and better. My observation is that new Mike's has pretty much the same appearance/ambiance, aside from the new outdoor seating area, but seemingly fewer customers. We were there last night (a Sunday) and, for the first time ever in my experience, there was nobody at the bar. Back in the day, it was a challenge to get a seat at the bar. Fortunately, there were a number of people there for dinner. It's odd that new Mike's doesn't have a website and has not published their menu on Yelp. Even the link on Yelp to the motel doesn't work. When I searched on Google for a menu, I found the old Mike & Barb's menu, but not the current menu. Personally, I think it would have been a good idea to have changed the name as a signal that the restaurant is under new ownership. I imagine a fair number of people pass it up, assuming that the menu is the same, not realizing that it's much better that typical bar food. In any case, I'm hoping for their long term success. Can't tell you how good the food was due to being ignored by bartender. Sat down at the bar on a Tuesday afternoon about 1:30, bartender asked what we wanted to drink and if we wanted menus. We said yes and I ordered a lemonade while my wife was still deciding on what to drink. Bartender gave me my lemonade and then ignored us for the next 20 minutes until I finally asked how much was the lemonade and left the 3 bucks on the bar. The sole reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because they made a really good whisky old fashioned sour. My husband ordered the walleye and shrimp basket and I ordered the shrimp basket. 1. The shrimp basket was not good - the shrimp was extremely fishy and just overall not good. Maybe they could consider purchasing better quality shrimp for the basket, and just putting less in it. There were an insane amount of shrimp in the basket. 2. My husbands butteryfly shrimp looked delicious, but tasted like pure mush on the inside. Also disappointing. 3. How this place stays open for fish fries is beyond me. My husband first choked not only on one fish bone, but an entire rack of them. He then proceeded to pull out the entire backbone of the fish with bones. It was disgusting. 4. We arrived around 9 - they serve food until 10. We were probably one of the only tables (the bar was full) but our server was quick to pull our plates (even before my husband was done eating...) and slow to serve our drinks. The customer service was overall disappointing. Would not recommend unless you're going for drinks. read more

Mike's Port Pub has your typical bar food, but a step above the average bar. The four of us had lunch there one cool and rainy Friday. The whitefish chowder was tempting, but I started out with a bowl of chili for $3.75 and added for 50 cents a heap of cheese and onions. Two of us ended up with chili and we all thought it was very good. The chili was full of tomatoes, meat, and some pasta. A great place to start on a cool rainy day. I ordered a Shrimp basket and had a choice of Fries or potato salad. I tried the potato salad since my wife was going to order Sweet potato Fries with here burger. Another ordered the 5 oz. Rib Eye sandwich with their onion haystack rings. Everything ended up being very good. The sweet potato fries were very good and flavorful. The onion haystack rings were also very good. A nice portion sliced very thin with a light batter. Both the sweet potato fries and the onion haystack rings are worth ordering. The beefburger was very good and an above average bar burger. You can get it with American, Swiss or Cheder cheese and raw or fried onions. The Rib Eye sandwich was a treat. The Rib Eye was so big it had to be folded over to fit on the bun. The Shrimp basket was great, a very pleasant surprise. I wanted something other than sandwich and thought I would give it a try. The batter was light, the shrimp flavorful and were without tails. You could eat the entire shrimp without a worry. I thought the potato salad would be plain, but again was surprised by a flavorful potato salad with big chunks of potato and egg. Overall, we all were very pleased. The food was great, the service great and the prices were very reasonable. The service not only as great, but friendly too. A nice place for lunch. Stereotypical Bar Menu with plenty of selection. I had the potato swirls with Bacon and Cheese as an appetizer. I ordered a German Platter for dinner which was on special. (I overheard the owners saying they want to offer it more often). It consisted of a porkchop cooked with applesauce, spaetzle with gravy, sauerkraut, and knockwurst. All of the food was good. I really found the German Platter to be exceptional, while the potato swirls were run of the mill. You definitely got the vibe that it was a common local hangout and many of the patrons were talking with the owners and employees on a personal basis. If you are looking for a nice bite to eat and you're near Mike's I would recommend it. But if you're looking for something special I would recommend heading a few minutes up the road to Bailey's Harbor where you can find more bars and restaurants with a greater selection. The burgers were good,but the service was anything but good, it was disappointing beyond all words, if we wanted to be ignored we would have gone to the short-term memory Bar and Grill. Maybe a friendly smile when one walks in the door, maybe a little friendly banter here or there would be nice, but I will give her credit halfway through our Burgers (that took at least 40 minutes to receive even though it was not busy) she did ask us how our first bite was, the one refill of our sodas and the Forgotten cheese on our burgers and the semi warm fries and ice cold beans and the 30 minutes between getting the check and her finally processing it. Other than all of that, it really made our 7 hour drive and our first impression of The Door County area of the best times we have ever had, except for my root canals and that one time I stepped on a nail and having to get a tetanus shot. now that was pretty pretty fun.
