I ordered a Salmon Teriyaki bento box and I thought the price is just enough for SF area ($19). The salmon turned out good but overall not too crazy about the bento. Atmosphere is okay if dining in as it may take awhile to be serviced from beginning to end, probably due to the fact that most of the time there is only one person greeting, ordering, busing and cashiering. Word of caution when ordering online, as the store opening hours are INCORRECT, where depending on the ordering service does not reflect the true opening hours where the online order will be cancelled. I sat inside to eat a couple times a few years ago. But recently, since I live nearby, it's easy to order online pickup for convenience. They usually give the option of picking up ASAP (20-35 mins). I'd say the best options I've had were the cold soba and chicken katsu. Cold soba: 4.5/5. I inhaled the noodles, wish there was more! Hot soba: 4/5. Not bad, just not as good as the cold soba noodles. Tempura was good. Chicken katsu curry: 4/5 actually ate most of it the next day, still good. Chicken can be crispier for a 5. Chicken broth ramen: 3/5. Greasy/oily, would pass on the ramen here. It was better a few years ago. Salmon sashimi: 3/5. Didn't taste as fresh. So this is somewhere I come by if I'm craving some Japanese food and don't want to travel far. Great for locals! But I wouldn't go out of the way for it. Portions were very small and no wasabi or soy sauce was given for the bento box. I should have looked more closely at other Yelp reviewers bento box photos since they accurately showed the sad salad. It consisted of a few pieces of baby romaine lettuce with some shreds of seaweed. The portion was flat and didn't even fill up half the bento box square. Also ordered the hot soba with shrimp and veggie tempura. The one piece of shrimp given was so small. For $16 they should include at least two small pieces of shrimp. The food was good, nothing too mind blowing but solid. The restaurant got super busy while we were there which is great on a Friday night. The one big issue with it being so busy and everyone coming in at the same time meant that the one person running the front of the house was doing everything. We were trying to get to a show at balboa so we didn't have a lot of time but my app early and the my entree came out a long time later. My fiancé got his meal in between and we were in a rush so he started eating with both of us expecting that my food would come out shortly after. Very average. Small and clean and spare. The food was decent. Totally legit place to stop and eat before or after a movie at the Balboa, which is what we were doing. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here though. Since other people are complaining about the service, I thought I would point out that we had no issues with it. I thought it was fine. This was our go-to for Japanese in the Outer Richmond, but no longer. New ownership about a year back has changed that. Many of the most positive reviews listed here are for the previous ownership, which could be misleading. We walked in the door yesterday and were surprised to see the place completely empty. No more super fresh and delicious specials listed on the wall. Huddled next to the cash register whispering were two servers nervously waiting for us to scan the QR code on the table. Very odd looking digital only menu. Waved the staff over and asked a question about the food but did not understand the answer. Two folks sat down at the table next to ours, and then they told us they were going elsewhere due to the lack of service. We too decided to eat elsewhere, walking across the street at Kim Sơn Restaurant where we had a warm welcome, amazing fresh spring rolls and delicious pho. I love the BBQ pork pho and five spice chicken, but it's all pretty good. Sad to say that we won't be going back. RIP to the classic Miki. read more

Recommended Dish: "The pork miso ramen with spicy sauce and pork belly toppings. So far the best Ramen I've had in my life. " We found this place after a great hike in lands end. It's only a mile away from Land's End and it's located in a cute neighborhood across the road from the theater. We were lucky that we got there when there were a couple tables available as it got quite busy very quickly and we could see the wait line outside the store the entire time we were there. Ramen was great and sushi was good too. What I didn't like was how close the tables are and how easy it was to hear all the other tables. People were also quite load which is annoying when you're trying to relax and enjoy your dinner. So not very ideal for a date, at least on weekends. read more

The cuts were a little large and uneven, but the fish itself was quite good, fresh and flavorful. The tuna was just ok, a little frozen. The salmon teriyaki had good flavor and was cooked well. The chicken katsu was just ok. The crust was not very crunchy, almost soggy. The tempura looked really nicely fried and the curry also looked good. Overall, no frills, but decent. I went here with my boyfriend today (Sunday) around 5:40pm for dinner and there was no wait. We heard this is a very good ramen place in this neighborhood, so we decided to go here. When we were looking through the menu, we noticed that there are ONLY 3 ramen options (Tonkotsu, Torigara, and Vegetarian). I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with miso flavor and my boyfriend also the Tonkotsu ramen, but with shoyu flavor. The food and presentation was great and the egg was cooked perfectly, but we were disappointed by the size of the bowl for the price we paid. It was at least $17 for each of our ramen bowls since we didn't add any add-ons, so this place is quite pricey. It would be more reasonable for the ramen we chose to be $14-15 each. I would recommend this place only if you're a few minutes away and willing to splurge, but would NOT recommend if you want good quality ramen for a reasonable price. We could get the same quality of ramen for a cheaper price somewhere else. read more

Grabbing a late dinner out at a restaurant can be extremely difficult. It often involves long lines and long wait times. Craving some ramen soup on a rainy evening, my family and I were looking through yelp for the place that would satisfy our taste buds. That's when we stumbled upon Miki Restaurant. The first impression of the place was that it was quite small, but nonetheless cozy. The rough wait was 20 mins to be seated and another 15 mins for the food to be served at our table, which wasn't insanely terrible. The waitress was extremely preppy and welcoming, her energy gave me high hopes on the food we would be served. I ordered the Miso Torigara Ramen. The flavors were delightful. The soup was perfectly spiced and had a richness to it, which was surprising since chicken broth doesn't typical have that flavor profile to it. The egg was delicious, perfectly soft with a nice soy sauce marination. The noodles were soft and thicker than the usual ramen noodles I had (I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the noodles). If you're looking for a yummy ramen place, I would definitely recommend Miki Restaurant. However, they are smaller on the inside so if you don't want to wait too long, make sure to go slightly earlier! read more

Every bit of chicken katsu curry rice nibbled, their curry is top notch, and they are generous with the curry so you're not left high and dry with no curry. I also ordered their gyoza and salmon roll. The gyoza dough was thicker than most pan fried gyoza but not greasy which is awesome and different. Their salmon roll was great home style tasty, fresh salmon, fresh avocado, beautifully presented. I also asked for some extra red pickle, and they came through on that! Okay this is definitely a LONG over due review from me! I've been coming here for two years, I found it on yelp I lived closed by and was craving ramen and boom! This restaurant pops up. It's a little small but don't let that change anything most restaurants are small in sf! Service is always good very attentive and always making sure the drinks are refilled when needed. Now the grand finale the FOOD! The ramen I ordered was the pork spicy miso and it was delicious! The noodles taste so fresh and thick I love me a thick noodle. The broth has so much flavor even the egg was delicious. The sushi was so good honestly I wasn't expecting it to be good cause I'm picky when it comes to sushi but this sushi has to be the best I've ate in sf. It was called the "catapliar" shrimp tempura with avocado - YUMMY. The bento box included chicken katsu with chicken teriyaki BOMB also included California rolls. After watching the episode of Chef's Table on Netflix featuring Ivan and his ramen we just HAD to go find a good ramen place for ourselves (thanks Netflix). I was reading the reviews about how this place gets packed real fast so we got there right at opening time! Atmosphere/staff: cozy little place but clean and the staff was very nice. The place is indeed really small, maybe 8 tables, half of them only seating for 2 people. There was 3 of us so we took one of the two 4 people tables there. Appetizers: we got the tako and chicken karaage. Both were delicious but my favorite was the octopus. Deep fried tiny tako served with a garlic mayo. Two thumbs up. Ramen: I chose to try the chicken broth instead of the tonkotsu that I usually go for. I had it with garlic miso and added pork belly and extra green onions. Each ramen comes with chasu pork, half a soft boiled egg and green onions. The broth was so so good, I was pleasantly surprised! It was perfectly umami and salty but without an overwhelming fatty taste. Just so yum. I tried my friends' spicy tonkotsu and shoyu tonkotsu and I honestly liked my broth better (they were good but not as tasty as the chicken broth). The egg was a tad bit too cooked for a soft boiled egg but otherwise was good. The chasu pork and the pork belly both paired well with the ramen. The ramen noodles were also good, the right amount of chewy and not overcooked. We left there with happy tummies. The place was packed by the time we left and it was a random week day too. This used to be our go to place for Japanese pick up meals. The food is still good, but their takeout service has really deteriorated. Several times they have provided incomplete orders on pickup. The last time was Mother's Day when the food was ready an hour later than the estimate and the order was incomplete. They didn't even apologize when we had to go back to get the order completed. I hope they get their act together again, but for now they are on our "no more" list. Perhaps eating in would be better. read more

Miki is one of the many hidden treasures of the City that I am reluctant to share with the masses . . . so please consider yourself one very fortunate yelper. Now although there has been a recent rash of ramen joints popping up all over the City, Miki still is still without question my go-to spot for ramen. Their spicy miso tonkotsu ramen is a super rich and oily and has never failed to satisfy my ramen needs. I usually dress it up with extra chasu and garlic, but on the rare occasions I don't, you'll still find me busily slurping noodles nonstop for the next ten minutes or so once it arrives. My wife, on the other hand, usually orders the torigara or vegetarian based ramens. I never knew veggie ramen could ever taste this good. Although, I do cheat a little and add chasu to it to the dish . . . because man (meaning me) cannot (probably could but why?) live on veggies alone. Our little one is a fan of their karaage and for very good reason: they're wonderfully crisp and tasty morsels of moist and juicy chicken. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. You know what? Change that. I really should say, my little one and I are huge fans of their karaage. I just noticed in the past couple weeks, I've been on a ramen Yelp review kick. Well here's another one for you! Bf & I were in Outer Sunset a few weeks ago & I was craving ramen again for lunch. To my knowledge, there's only noteworthy ramen in Inner Sunset, not wanting to deal with parking there, I Yelped around and found Miki's 4 stars. Next door is packed Shanghai House. We came at the right time to this tiny restaurant as there were only three tables occupied, but quickly filled up after. There was only one waiter & I believe only one person working the kitchen, so it's probably not best to come here if you're in a rush during prime time hours like we were. I like the menu had lots of different ramen options including a chicken broth which I went with. The build your own bowl of udon also caught my eye, but I saw the good reviews on the garlic ramen broths, so I decided to go with the chicken broth based garlic ramen and he went with the tonkatsu ramen. Be forewarned you will have stank breath after eating this! It was very garlicky (good thing). I also liked how the egg had oozy yolk, but it was really cold. I felt like the price of the ramen ($9.75) was steep for what you got - half a soft boiled egg, green onions, bamboo shoots, and two small pieces of pork.
