We stopped by Ippudo San Francisco right when they opened, so luckily there was no wait. The restaurant itself is nice and somewhat spacious, although the table for two can get crowded pretty quickly once all the food comes out. We ordered the Akamaru Modern Ramen and Spicy Shrimp Tempura. The ramen noodles were great, with a nice texture, and the broth was flavorful and satisfying. One thing to keep in mind is that the ramen doesn't come loaded with toppings. Items like the egg are extra, which can add up considering the restaurant is already on the more expensive side. The Spicy Shrimp Tempura was also good and made a nice addition to the ramen. Parking is probably one of the bigger challenges when coming here. It's San Francisco, so definitely plan ahead. The 5th and Mission parking garage may be a good option if you don't want to spend too much time looking for street parking. Overall, good ramen, great noodles, and a nice atmosphere. It's definitely on the pricier side once you start adding toppings and appetizers, but we enjoyed our meal.

(+) Scan the menu, website offers more details on the dishes. They do have physical menus but they don't list as many of the ingredients. (+) Party of 4 were seated quickly on a Thursday night. It was a shared / communal table, but that was fine. Rather that than wait extra long for our own table. (+) Chicken karaage, giant pieces. Crispy outside, tender inside. (+) Nice vibe, most people seemed happy with their food. I really liked my yuzu shoyu as I prefer that base over a creamy broth. Only negative was no refill on the iced green tea.

I dropped in here for lunch right before I had a flight to catch, and to be honest, I've already decided I'm coming back. Because I was in a rush, speed was everything, and they absolutely delivered - my ramen was hot and ready on the table within 5 minutes of ordering! The service was incredibly fast, and the staff was amazing throughout. Beyond the efficiency, the food itself tasted wonderful. The restaurant's location is excellent, and the interior is beautifully planned and decorated, giving it a really nice vibe. As a huge plus, they have multiple vegetarian options on the menu. This makes it an ideal spot for groups where some people want vegetarian dishes and others want non-veg options. If you need a delicious, top-tier bowl of ramen - even on a tight schedule - this is the place to go.

One of my favorites Ramen locations which happens to be near by the Powell Bart station. Once inside you will be pleasantly surprised after passing the curtains to see a seating of tables and a vibrant ambiance. We ordered edamame for the table, it comes with a yuzu like salt. Which trust me you reaaaallly need to love yuzu otherwise just eat it without the salt. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, which I would admit could have been spicier but that is just a preference. The broth is always delicious, hearty and the noodles where also, extremely tasty. The service is always good, they move fast, and they are always ready to make any recommendations if needed.

Windy and cold in SF tonight, so we decided on Ippudo ramen before watching Supergirl at the Metreon. The host asked if we and another party of 4 wouldn't mind sharing a long table, so both parties agreed. The place was extremely busy!! Our orders were taken pretty fast, and the steaming bowls of ramen came out shortly after. The tonkotsu broth brought back memories of Japan where Ippudo ramen shops were everywhere, in the malls or train stations....yes, Ippudo is a very popular chain. And here it tastes as good!! The menu has expanded over the years, but we just wanted a quick dinner before the movie so we all ordered the same thing. Sharing a table must be confusing for the waiters, they kept asking which party had what ....

100/10 would go again. I can eat that seasoned cucumber everyday, and I don't even like cucumbers. The Karaka Spicy Ramen was a fan favorite-- broth was perfect and the poached egg was a must making it even more rich n creamy. The bun medley (tempura shrimp was my fav) and spicy chicken karaage was a great way to get this delicious dinner started. The ambiance made me feel like I was in Japan again. Overall a great experience!

Great, fast service. Great, chill ambiance for dinner. The ramen was good, but was probably missing a bit of flavor. I loved the genmaicha tea.

My friend took me here around 9pm (which is an hour before closing time). There was no one at the front of the store but we got seated right away when they realized we were there. We were able to order super fast and it came out quickly too. And gosh damn was the food good because I came back twice with different friends. I got the yuzu and yes the citrus flavor was strong. I loved it! Overall, good pick to bring friends and family for interior development aesthetic and food. Cons: Parking is hard to find since it's lodged in between streets and prices are a bit expensive.

Came here about 45 minutes before closing and was seated within 5 minutes. I ordered a beer, the Akamaru Modern, and a side of corn. The beer was cold and crisp, and the corn was super tasty--I loved the Japanese-style seasoning on it. I don't know if it was just the long day of traveling, but the ramen really slapped. The broth was rich without being too heavy, and the meat was tender and delicious. Some ramen bowls can feel a little too rich for me, but I finished this entire bowl in 10 minutes. Loved this chain, solid location, and I'd definitely come again.

Service and Staff: - We waited about 10 minutes and were asked if we wanted an individual table or if we were okay with a community table (we went with the community table) - Our server was nice - we were put off a bit though from a random staff member that came over and started very loudly telling us it would be $4 if we wanted to add more spice to our ramen. This communication was loud, repetitive, and unnecessary - Scan the QR code at your table to view the menu. A server will then come and take your order Food and Drinks: - Sake: flavorful and smooth - Dragon Tantan: the sesame broth was flavorful and this bowl definitely came with a kick of spice from the Szechuan flavors - Spicy Miso: another spicy ramen dish punched with flavor - Yuzu Shoyu: fun mix of flavors between the shoyu and the citrusy yuzu. Not your typical ramen flavors Miscellaneous: - Good for groups up to about 6 people - Bathroom is located in the back of the restaurant - Fairly loud given the amount of tables in the restaurant

Is ajitama offered as a topping?

May I ask. How the happy hours work?

Hello! The happy everyday 3pm to 6pm, Drinks and Appetizers,…

    Does the ramen contain nuts?

There are no nuts in the entire restaurant

    Do they take reservations?

No, get there early. If you’re not there when they call your name, they will give away your spot.

Are there vegan options on their dinner menu? It doesn't have to be ramen.

Yeah they have two vegan ramens, I like the akamaru veggie the best. The veggie ones come with different noodles that don't contain egg.

Do they have non-pork broth option?

    They have a vegetarian option

What are vegan ramen and bun options?

    Vegan ramen. Just ask.

What's the best time to go for lunch? Are they crowded if we go for late lunch like 1/2pm?

No, we got here around 2 on a Sunday and there were only a few parties here

Does their signature dashi have fish stock in it?

There's one ramen on the menu that has a mixture of the porks an fish stock.

No phone number or website. Is this location still in business?

    Yes, the number is 415-348-1202

Do you guys open on Christmas Day? Any reservations?

Not sure about Christmas Day but they don't take reservation

Can someone confirm that their eggs is now hard boiled and not semi-translucent on the inside?

You request the egg the way you want it.

Does the SF Ippudo offer a gluten-free option, like the New York ones do? A friend of mine has a gluten allergy.

I've inquired numerous times but they currently do not.

Since there are no reservations to get seated, do you just write your name down on a list and wait to be called?

You'll wait in a Disneyland like line until the hostess asks for your name, she'll call you when it's your turn to be seated.

We waited 50 minutes before it was our party of 4 got called in. There is a policy that everyone has to order at least 1 bowl of ramen. I thought that was interesting. This is a Chicken based broth ramen (Toripaitan) place. For family of 4 (2 teenage boys), we ordered $270 worth of food. 2 signature Toripaitan ramens, 1 signature Toripaitan Spicy ramen, 1 classic Toripaitan ramen, 1 Hokkaido uni and A5 Wagyu hand roll, 2 orders of 5 pieces A5 Wagyu sushi, 1 side order of A5 Wagyu slice XL, 1 corn ribs, 1 edamame, 1 vegan fried chicken made out of oyster mushroom, and 1 Matcha IPA. The ramen bowl itself is about $25/bowl. My signature Toripaitan spicy bowl soup surprisingly was not that hot. That's too bad. The thick noodles were hot though. Taste was decent. But the lukewarm broth ruined it for me. I like the side dishes better. Interesting ramen like the matcha duck and lamb cumin ramen might be with trying next time.

There was a line outside and a 10-15 min wait for us (because of how small the place one) but we didn't mind. Service was also a tiny bit odd / slow but I'm not type to care too much about that especially if it's busy and the food comes on reasonable time + food is good. Customers waiting in line outside seemed confused and out of loop kept asking me since I was in front of line if there was a line or waitlist/how long the wait was. Another odd thing is their menu. I saw reviews / pictures of food that wasn't on the paper menu they gave so it was confusing what they actually offered. We ordered the Niku ramen : change to rice bowl (really good portion sizing for japanese place) tasty flavoring. not too meaty taste. kimchi was random but worked well, cut the beef sweetness and savoriness. +Added $5 soft shell crab for topping.
