The gyoza was so crispy and flavorful and the stuffed mushrooms were incredibly delicious (they were also huge!). My husband had the yakisoba, which was so good (and we used to live in Okinawa so we are very particular about this dish). He also had the deep-fried spicy tuna roll and said it was fantastic. i used to love coming here, but it's just gotten worse each time. the last time i went here, they forgot about my boyfriend's entree. the server brought us desert and he still hadn't gotten his meal. they waived the fee of the desert which was nice. today, i ate here with my mom and there was a large bone in a piece of fish. the server was very kind and helpful, and brought me a full new nigiri which was really weird textured, so i ate most of it to be polite and not cause issue. i moved on quick though and was eating a roll i ordered until i bit down hard on like a plastic bead??? showed it to the server which then showed the chef and manager. the took off the roll on the bill but i couldn't bring myself to finish the rest. i wish i could come back here but i'm very sensitive and easily adverse to food so i'm going to avoid it for a while. the place is pretty and the staff are usually nice but i've had more bad experiences here than good aside from the ones i talked about here. read more

Me and my fiancé love to go out to sushi very often and Mikko is one of our absolute favorite places we have been to!! Even during their busiest times we are seated quickly and our food comes out so fast!! The servers have always been so kind and extremely attentive. I always get some sort of specialty roll, (I highly recommend the pipeline roll that's pictured in my review) along with a spicy salmon or spicy tuna hand roll. My fiancé rotates through the entres and loves each one of them. I mean it when I say they never disappoint. An added bonus is that the restaurant is always so clean, which I always appreciate. I have been here a few times, the service has never been great. My server came to the table to take our order and drinks. Did not see her again until she asked if we were ready for the check like 40mins later, which we had been waiting to order more Sake. I'm guessing you get better service sitting inside. It pains me to give any restaurant a one star review, let alone during COVID, but Mikko Sushi earned it. Let me preface my review by saying how happy I was they were moving into a spot on Grand Avenue. My partner in crime and I have frequented their Vista location and have always enjoyed their sushi. I've been to this location 3 times now and after my last experience, I won't return. On Saturday, 1/22, I ordered takeout for myself, my kids, and my partner in crime. 5 rolls, one small rice, and one small hot sake for this tired, overworked mom. Placing the order was easy and so was pickup. The bill was 70+ dollars and I also tipped for takeout which I've only been doing during COVID. Everyone is struggling. This is where things went terribly wrong. After arriving home, I noticed one of the rolls was missing. Eh- it happens, but I was really bummed that it happened to be my favorite roll. So, I called and told them what happened. The employee was friendly, we went through the rolls several times to make sure something was missing, and then asked if it was okay if they comped a roll the next time I came in. Hmm, honestly..it's covid. I'm not sure when I'm going to get around to sushi again since I'm trying to support different local restaurants once a month. A refund was agreed upon- the cost of the roll, 12.95. It took no less than 5 phone calls (yes 5!) over the course of 5 days to finally get a refund and ironically, the refund amount is wrong. The refund amount should have been 12.95, but it was 10.72. It's absolutely not worth fighting over the two dollar difference, but I have never experienced anything like this before. Sadly, they lost a customer over a 13 dollar roll. I won't return. read more

A couple of weeks ago we dine in for the first time and we really loved the food, freshness and the quality. We ordered more than what we have on the pictures but we forgot to shoot cause they were so delicious, gone fast :) The service was pretty nice as well and we tipped 20% on that day. However past Sunday we were lazy to dine in and we ordered take out. I was glad for our decision cause there was a line. We ordered 2 rolls of speciality rolls, one of yellow tail sashimi, two of toro sashimis and a medium - 25pics of sashimis again. Everything was nice except our medium sashimis, two of the fishes were extremely tasting fishy and thus, we could not eat 10 pieces of it. If you're thinking about it do it!!!! My favorite sushi spot!! From the service, quality, taste, consistency it does not disappoint. I'm always iffy trying new spots due to some horrible sushi experiences or just lacking. I've yet to have one bad roll from Mikko but the one that does it for me is the Escondido roll, AMAZING along with the Asparagus roll which are my always go to order! I was excited to see this little sushi spot open on Grand, since Escondido doesn't really have a high end sushi option and I was hoping this would fill this niche. I was definitely wrong there. I've only gotten their food on takeout or delivery because of covid, but having ordered several times now, I feel like I can comfortably review. - They never ever ever ever ever get special requests right! EVER! I've ordered from them 5 times and 5 times I've asked for rolls on soy paper, paid the extra $1 per roll, and ended up with at least one roll on seaweed wrap. It doesn't matter if I ask for extra dressing on the side or if I ask for something to be rolled without an ingredient, this place ALWAYS misses the special orders. If you have an allergy, be very careful ordering from here. When a place nickels and dimes you for extras but then doesn't provide them, it's the most frustrating experience. Trying to get credit for them by calling the restaurant or through your delivery app becomes pointless over a couple bucks - but it's still beyond annoying. I can't eat seaweed wrap due to an allergy so I have to chuck the roll. This becomes expensive fast! - Their "green salad" is the most anemic and sad excuse for greens I have ever seen. The salad greens I received yesterday were basically the core of an old head of iceberg topped with three carrot shreds. For $3!!! - They package all their rolls with the sauce on them which means that by the time you get them home, they are soggy and falling apart. In the age of COVID, every other restaurant has figured out how to pack their food so that it arrives in somewhat decent condition. Why would you douse a roll in ponzu and then send it to be delivered and eaten 30 minutes later? - The ingredients they use inside the rolls are just meh. I got a mango roll with mango that was so hard and underripe that it was almost impossible to bite into. Just take the mango off the menu if you don't have good quality/ripe mango. The tuna had the weird pink and spongey look of grocery store sushi. This is by far the lowest quality and highest priced sushi place in Escondido. I was excited to see a variety of rolls and sauces but they are subpar. Many better sushi restaurants in Escondido and north county. read more

Mia was a fantastic server and this place food is amazing does not take them long to serve. Portions are great size. The takoyaki is lit the rainbow roll does actually look like a rainbow.
