We dined at Miku for the first time on a recent Sunday evening. Good food and cheerful staff. A bonus for early diners: they have half price specials on a variety of food items ordered before 6:00 pm... VIBE: Deep, narrow storefront space (similar to the prior occupant, Tank Sushi). Warm, understated décor. Moderately noisy, a little dim where we were sitting. SERVICE: Everyone was pleasant, helpful, and attentive. Dishes came out at a comfortable pace. FOOD: We like edamame, and the garlic version here was delightful. Gyoza dumplings were excellent, a little crispy outside, with a little more shredded cabbage inside than some other places. Beef nagima was tasty, though the ground beef was a bit dense & chewy. I am by no means a ramen expert, but I enjoyed the tonkotsu ramen: the flavors were nicely balanced, the broth slightly creamy, and the noodles perfectly cooked al dente. There is a decent wine list, and a couple of Japanese beers. We had a nice time, and will surely return to try some other small plates and rolls. read more

Solid sushi! This place hits and the lunch special is where it's at. From 11-4 pm the lunch special is $12 for 2 rolls and a miso soup or $16 for 3 rolls and a miso soup. They also have fat deals on other speciality rolls and bento boxes. The servers are nice and pleasant and most of the sushi is rly good. My favs are the salmon, avo the tuna avo, the negi hamachi, the yellowtail, and the eel. The shrimp and the spicy tuna tastes weird in my opinion like it's kinda fake? A hidden gem in chicago for Japanese food. The sushi is fresh, with many selections without being overwhelming. However I got the chefs selection which I always appreciate, being an optimist (sometimes) I like to think that means the chef picking their favorites so I'm getting the best pieces of fish. The best part of this is it really transported me back to being in Japan. The inside is small but peaceful. It reminded me of Izakayas of Japan, small cozy busy and delicious. As an izakaya they offered Kushiyaki and Yakitori- all I'll say is get the chicken livers. read more

The location and interior was great - but the food was bland, lack luster and it just didn't taste very good. It wasn't memorable. I got the ramen and some basic avocado rolls. The ramen was severely lacking in taste and overly oily to the point where I barely tasted any broth. I was very disappointed in the quality. I've been to Miku Sushi a number of times in the past, and gotten takeaway as well, but recently I enjoyed my experience so much that I dragged my husband back barely 3 days later to enjoy the same meal. The flaming dragon maki was so good I had to have it again. I love the combination of flavors with the added crunch. And the Gyoza are like potato chips: I could just eat them all day. My only criticism would be that the timing of dishes was a little awkward, with them coming out whenever they were ready, as opposed to splitting up appetizers and entrées. But the weight staff was incredibly kind and attentive, and it was nice to see that business was hopping, but they were keeping up with the tables. read more

i went to miku for take out after visiting sailor chicago close by. it was was recommended by the owner. Wow! such a cool place. tables and chairs were available outdoors and the hostess suggested i sit outside while i waited for my order and stopped back with an ice water. thoughtful service. the order came quickly and i took it back to enjoy at home. my SO and i dug into the house salad with ginger dressing which was really good, and definitely was enough for the two of us. he loved the beef negima and the calamari appetizer was crispy and tasty, even after reheating. the signature makis: diablo and hangover were delicious. the fish is super fresh and melts in your mouth. great flavors and great texture. the dragon roll is on repeat from any sushi restaurant we try and miku's did not disappoint. the menu is large and there are many more dishes we will try on our next time dining out. a sushi restaurant to put on your must try list of restaurants! read more

Have been coming here for years, including when they were known as Tank. It's my neighborhood sushi spot. I mainly get the makis and all are delicious. My favorites are Ocean Sundae, Robusuta, and Veggie Godzilla. Also love the goat cheese tempura salad. And the spicy ramen is excellent, especially on a cold day. The drinks are wonderful too! My go-to martinis are Red Octopus, Kyoto Lime, and Lemon Drop. The service is nice and attentive, never felt rushed no matter how busy they get. The placed is wheelchair accessible, except for the doors. There's usually someone to help keep it open. It's small and cozy. Love the wall menu in Japanese! read more

Ordered the Ocean Sundae and Ika Maki for 1/2 lunch today. The Ocean Sundae was decent. However, the Ika Maki had calamari in it that was literally inedible. The calamari was the consistency of rubber. It was the first sushi I've ever had to spit out. I obviously couldn't stomach the rest of the roll. I shouldve taken a picture! Server only looks at the 6 plates of orders in the counter but kept going back and forth looking for something else to do. She kept STALLING to get the time goes by faster to miss 6pm happy hour. WHO DOES THAT! They also include gratuity for 4 party and above. NEVER HEARD OF THAT TIL NOW. Its always a party of 6. Gratuity was more than 20% including the tax. When asked, they shouted at us. Servers are all rude except one hispanic boy who cleans the table for us. I've dined at this place for more than 5 years. I've dined alone, with co workers, with children. Recently had the worst service ever. Server did not want to work I assumed. Server did not check in to see if my daughter and I needed anything. I had to ask several times for plate and etc. Water was not refilled. I wondered if the server was new because this was a shock. I left no tip for bad service. The sever told me since I did not leave a tip, next time I should get take out. Rude! Management apologized and went on went her day. This was my first time here. My party of three had a dinner reservation for 5:30pm. We qualified for happy hour half price martinis. As you can see from my pics, I first enjoyed my Geisha martini made with Absolut vanilla vodka, Chambord, coffee liquor, and pineapple juice normally for $11, but, was only $5.50 due to happy hour. I later enjoyed my Red Taco or Red Octopus made from effen's vodka, apple schnapps, sweet & sour mix and simple syrup also for $5.50. I enjoyed both martini's. I should have enjoyed the Red Octopus first because it was less sweet than the Geisha, which was sweeter or more like dessert. We all enjoyed our shared fried dumpling appetizer. I also enjoyed my spicy ramen. Our total bill was $82.88 less gratuities. Eve was very good to accommodate our table needs. Having received a recommendation to try out Miku Sushi Lounge, I was all for it. Seeing that they served lunch, I chose to go during noon on a Saturday so that I was not caught waiting for a table during the evening rush. Kobacha squash and crab soup. Sunrise martini. Unagi maki. Spicy shrimp maki. Ebi tempura maki. Chocolate cream martini. Chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls. I could eat the soup endlessly. It was awesome, fantastic, delicious, and all those things. As to the sunrise martini, I could have downed it like a glass of Kool Aid. My hat goes off the bartender for not mixing the drink like he was trying to convert someone to alcoholism in just a few sips. All of the maki rolls were worthy. And with there being 8 pieces per roll, it was filling. The chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls were different. I think that had the dough been baked and encased in the fried wonton, I would have been wowed completely. The soft texture was good, but not out of this world. The chocolate cream martini was out of this world, though. The service was quite attentive. Perhaps having gone for lunch when the restaurant was not bustling with customers, the staff was more personable. I reserved one star because there are several other items on the the menu that I want to sample before moving my rating up a notch. In the meantime, Miku Sushi Lounge is in my slideshow. read more

I ordered the Flaming Dragon roll, spicy tuna roll, umagi roll, and yellowtail nigiri. The quality of the sushi was good, but I thought the portion sizes were small compared to other places like Coast and Rollapalooza. I realize that Sushi Tokoro is loaded with rice. They have half off Lincoln Square and traditional rolls if you dine in before 6pm, which is a very good special!
