I came in here whilst we were on the hunt for some backyard furniture. The man who was here said hi about as soon as I walked in and offered his assistance but let me wander at my leisure and without being pushy. They have lots of options, and unlike some stores they sell pieces individually instead of just as a group or set. There were a couple sets from Sunbrella that I liked, and one from another brand that uses that sort of poly wood (but not that brand name) that was really comfortable and felt nice. If only I had unlimited funds! They apparently switch over to Christmas trees in the winter months, for at least a little while, and they well grills and other outdoor equipment here as well. Their website--as of 2025 anyway--is not useful, so just stop by. They have good sales. read more

So far so good! We walked in about 30 min. before closing, yeah I know not very nice. One guy, think he was owner, jumped up and offered help and answered a few questions and then was very nice to let us wander around. Few minutes later we saw something we liked and a guy assembling pieces noticed us looking at this set. He immediately stopped what he was doing and answered all our questions and offered some great money saving ideas. When I noticed it was past closing time and offered to come back next day he said not to worry and continued answering questions. Zero pressure and offered a catalog to take with. We were tired of all the big box store crap furniture we have bought over the years and pulled the trigger. We are super excited for the arrival of our pieces and very grateful for the attention and service they provided at purchase. Will report back at arrival. read more

If you are looking for patio furniture, a grill or grilling equipment, and you want good prices and wonderful service, this is the place. As a new owner of a house with a yard, the husband and I have been scouring the city an surrounding 'burbs for patio furniture. We wanted something nice, sturdy, and didn't want to drop $2000. Luckily we found Mil-Green. We stopped in this afternoon, and much to our surprise found they were having a sale. A nice sale, not the 10% off crap some places try to float. We had a fairly large selection of patio gear to chose from in a variety of prices, and wound up getting what we needed and more. The staff was friendly and happy to assist. We learned that in November they switch over to holiday decor sales, so between now and then all their patio furniture will continue to be discounted. read more

I purchased a 6 person patio set and umbrella from Mil-Green. On the day of the purchase Alan, the salesman (third from the left on their website picture), was less than enthusiastic about helping me. After the set was delivered and set up, my neighbor brought up the point that the 9 ft umbrella covered the table but if it started to rain at all the people would get wet. I took the umbrella down and brought it inside the house planning to go back to Mil-Green and return or exchange it. I went back to Mil-Green and told them I was returning the umbrella because I thought an 11 ft umbrella would be better. Alan told me that with my table a 11 ft umbrella would be too big and look stupid. He then continued to say things like I didn't bring back the box (I never had the box, the delivery men didn't leave it.), it had been too long (14 days), they don't take umbrellas that have been outside (It wasn't, it was in my house) and on and on. I had been considering exchanging it for an 11 ft umbrella but since I was being so harassed I just returned it. When I didn't have the credit card for the refund because it had been cancelled after I misplaced it, he said I had to come back once it was replaced. After the card was replaced I went back with the receipt of return and said I wanted to finish the transaction. He immediately started to harass me again! I told him he treated me badly the last time and I would not allow it again. Alan's response, literally word for word was, "Well, I plan to". I told him he agreed to the return, his signature was on the receipt, and he was to refund my money. He continued trying to bait me into an argument. I did leave with my credit card refunded. In the end I went elsewhere and got a larger and higher quality umbrella for a lower price. It's great and doesn't look stupid. OMG! I just looked at some of the other rankings and it looks like Alan is an owner! He told me he hasn't known anyone to complain about the way they treat customers yet he's replied to other postings so that cannot be true. Like another person's review indicated, there is another patio store you can go to less than a mile south on Milwaukee. STAY CLEAR OF MIL-GREEN. read more

I was conflicted about whether to write about my experience or call Mil-Green directly to give them the feedback. In the end, I decided to express the experience in writing rather than over the phone. I stopped by the store today with 8 rod-iron tiki torch holders. These were given to me when a relative moved and did not have use for them anymore. I have never used them and only have the rod iron stands and not the inserts. I thought that the Mil-Green staff would know something how to get them functioning. I was greeted by a 30-something man with a beard who was sitting at a laptop. I greeted him and his look at me appeared to suggest I was interrupting him at his work. I asked him if he had any inserts for the torches. He said he didn't know what they were, but thought they were tiki torches (correct!). He said the store had nothing and that I should try online. The conversation ended there. I walked out feeling....frustrated that I wasn't greeted in a friendly, helpful way. He gave the impression that I was bothering him. He offered no alternative like "wow, those are nice. Let me show you what we carry in case you want to consider upgrading." He offered no "Try Home Depot or Menards for tiki accessories." I was not invited to look at anything in the store. Had he made a small effort, perhaps I would have walked out with grills accessories, new pillows, some other torches. etc. Customer service can make or break a sale. I am a very friendly, engaging and interested customer who has purchased custom made cushions from Mil-Green in the past and was very happy. I know the store has the potential to corner the market on outdoor furniture, accessories and the such. As it happens, the last time I was at Home Depot, I purchased citronella Tiki Torch inserts just for the hell of it to see if they would fit and today when I arrived home from Mil-Green, tada, I found that they fit perfectly and are exactly what I need. It's a shame that I wasn't encouraged to look around the store and maybe they could have placed an order for me online for more inserts. Now I'll either head back to Home Depot or go online myself and it won't be because of the help of an employee from Mil-Green. I'm disappointed in my experience, but haven't given up. Carefully read your receipt at Mil-Green - I was overcharged and then treated poorly when I questioned the associate (and part owner?) Alan Arden. Walked out feeling horrible yesterday when I returned 4 patio furniture covers I had purchased 2 weeks earlier. In making the return, I discovered there was a charge of $27.99 for a 5th cover (I only have a 4 piece set and needed only 4 pieces - Alan was also the person who helped me select these pieces 2 weeks ago and he saw the pieces and their dimensions in a photo) and another $0.99 charge for something else on the receipt (this store has nothing I can see that costs $0.99). I do realize it was my responsibility to check what I was being charged for initially...something Alan Arden told me in very direct terms. When I commented that he overcharged me, his reply back was gruff and something like "so why is this my problem." His tone and reply definitely got me angry and as I got a bit more heated about the 2 charges, my credit card was thrown on the counter back at me once he processed the 4 items I brought in for return. So I am stuck paying for the mistake that was made, but more importantly left feeling lousy. While this was a small transaction and $30 isn't going to matter, I hate to think what others who still might decide to shop there and plunk down big dollars will encounter as far as service is concerned. Seems like this sort of store should differentiate itself with superior customer service vs. the big box stores that sell patio furniture at significantly lower prices, but that doesn't seem to be of interest to Mil-Green...or at least to Alan based on my experience yesterday. Others have also taken the time to post their own stories of dealing with Mil-Green. I guess that's what makes Yelp a good forum for keeping people informed. I tried to keep this fact-based and keep my emotion from coming through, but hoping that those who read this will take notice and consider alternate options (Norbert Pool & Patio is less than a mile down the street). If not, and you consider shopping at Mil-Green, at least you know what to expect and lookout for. 3 years ago I spent nearly $5k with them on a new patio set, but I won't be back to Mil-Green and I don't think they care at all. read more

The staff at this store is fabulous at the point in time when you are purchasing furniture. Their follow up however leaves alot to be desired. While you have difficulties, promises are made as to future dealings, but none are kept. Once your furniture purchase is complete, the staff, including the owners, sometimes act as if they do not know you or don't want to be bothered. read more

ABSOLUTELY RUDE SON "JOSH"!!! My mom and I went 2 weeks before thanksgiving looking for some help with fireplace doors.Being new to shopping for that type of thing I looked to the co owner for help! He told me what type of doors I needed and how to go home and measure! Once I did that,I called back with measurements and was told about a week to get them in and 2 weeks to be installed! (It took 4)! When the doors came to my home with installer they were NOT the correct doors for my fireplace!!! I was told they would reorder the correct doors!! And again....the wrong size for what I needed thanks to the guidance of JOSH AGAIN!! 3 weeks later after calling and returning doors, I was told THEY COULDN'T HELP ME!! This went on from nov.12th to jan.13th!! Terrible attitude and bad customer care!! read more

I had one guy stand in my face and ask what I wanted as if I was gonna Rob them or something. Well screw them. I spent my money elsewhere. And to top that all, they are expensive as hell. There return policy is out of date.After spending 400 dollars on a tree 70 dollars on a stand and 20bucks on the complete tool to fix incandescent light sets I realized in didn't need the tool cause the lights on the tree are LED when I tried to return the tool it was after the 13 of December the cut off date for returns they wouldn't even give store credit. Maybe ok for items that don't require service. For BBQ they will refer you to a person who can install outdoor BBQ but this person does not show up.... you wait & you wait... for ever! If you can install the BBQ yourself, great. If you want service, look elsewhere because you cannot depend on this store for service after sales. read more

After a experience purchasing an outdoor furniture set from a lesser competitor that rusted the same week we purchased it (ack!), we checked out Mil-Green. Although they had some more reasonably priced items, I decided not to skimp this time and went more for the mid-grade. their prices were competitive when I compared apples to apples. We took delivery of the table, chairs and umbrella. Found a scratch a chair after the delivery guys left. Within a a couple of days they had it exchanged out. Hardly a question asked on their part. Great service and we couldn't be happier. read more

Not sure about the complaints of rudeness people have made about this place; maybe there's some surly employee who is there sometimes. But we went in to browse patio furniture, the two guys there were perfectly friendly, asking us if we needed help, not following us or pressuring us or anything. We didn't end up getting anything, but I'd definitely go back. read more

In the past I've bought outdoor furniture at big box stores. While the price has always been reasonable, the quality has been sub-par. Last year I went to Mil-Green and picked up a replacement patio set and WOW - what a difference! Last summer my friends kept asking me where I had gotten my new table. I pulled it out last weekend and it looks just as good. I'm looking forward to many more compliments this summer! read more

I would purchase an item from Mil Green but I'm loathe to reinforce the poor attitude/customer service of the employees.

My husband and I spent weeks going from store to store, trying to find the perfect artificial Christmas tree. Finally, we found one that we absolutely loved, but we learned it was out of stock. I got online and, fortunately, found the same tree at Mil-Green--and it was the ONLY place I could find that had the exact same tree. So, I called to verify that the tree was in stock, and it was. I ordered it on a Sunday, it was shipped the following Monday, and it arrived at our home in Texas on Wednesday afternoon. From start to finish, the guys at Mil-Green (Brian and Josh) were amazing. They were so helpful and friendly. Josh even called me on Monday to tell me that the tree had shipped and to let me know that he had sent me an email which provided the tracking information. Super customer service, and the tree is beautiful!!! read more
