First time here. Restaurant is hidden a bit in Wolf Ranch, but worth seeking out. My wife enjoyed the Lobster Ravioli while I had Veal Piccata. Both were delicious with home made pastas. We had to complete our gastronomic journey with a slice of Italian cake. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive and the owner/chef even came out to check on us. She falsely accused my mother of making a mess in her restroom when in reality it was like that when she walked in the first place. My wife and I went here on a Friday around 4:30pm. It was quiet at the time and we were seated promptly. The restaurant is a narrow one with a long line of tables from front to back. The problem is that half the patrons are staring at a wall. The server was okay. But she seemed like she would rather be somewhere else; not very friendly. She pushed the $15 glass of wine but I settled on an $8 glass of generic Chianti. The Caesar salad was fine but nothing special. For the main course, I ordered the spaghetti carbonara. It was advertised with pancetta, but came with american bacon instead. The sauce was Alfredo. So basically not carbonara. We did not get any dessert. Went there today with my girlfriend for lunch, first was a little tough to find it. Sign out front a little small but maybe we were off. For an appetizer we had the bruschetta originals, it was 4 pcs for $6.99, just block cheese cut up with chopped up tomato, it was ok, not $6.99 worth, had a side salad with house dressing on it, it was a good dressing just very little, can't expect much for $2.99, I had meat lasagna lunch for $10.99, had very little meat and drowning in grease, it too was so so. Italian trio for 9.99, that had good taste, serving size was good, more like it. Servers were very friendly and place was very clean, but at 1:00 at lunch and only 4 tables going should be clean. It was a fare lunch but for sure not for $35.68 for lunch prices. I think I'll pass on this place a second time. read more

I am absolutely gobsmacked that this place has four stars.. First of all, it has a cold, strip mall atmosphere. I've been to great Italian places in strip malls, but this is not one. Our bruschetta was mediocre at best, but at least it didn't taste bad. The service is pretty good and prompt. And they do have some local, I'm assuming young, artists on the wall, which was cool. But, dear god, my entree was downright disgusting! I ordered a butternut squash ravioli with a brown butter sauce. The filling was some cat food looking brown mush. The flavor alternated between too sweet and too salty. The dough was not even fully cooked on at least half the ravioli! I couldn't finish it. My husband rated his clam pasta "inoffensive" and the kids ate an equally "inoffensive" cheese pizza. But, I need to rinse the foul taste of my ravioli abomination from my mouth.. gross! I grew up in NY, and I very much enjoy a good thin crust pizza. For me, the benchmark is a simple pepperoni pizza. It has been a couple of years since I've eaten at Milano Trattoria (I just don't go to Wolf Ranch often), but we stopped by the Best Buy last night, and then popped into MT for dinner. I, predictably, got a pepperoni pizza, and I have to say that the pizza I got last night was as close to perfect as I've had anywhere around here. Crust: Literally, perfect. Super thin, crisp on the bottom (not soggy) while still having the right amount of "chew" on the top; and the "bone" had the perfect amount of chew. Comment to the wife: "If I could make pizza dough this perfect at home, I'd make pizza every single night". You can't make better pizza dough than what they served me last night. Sauce: Excellent. Very nice flavor; fresh, tangy, herbal. Really, really good. So often, pizza sauces have the life cooked right out of them - that was NOT the case with this sauce. Cheese: Also excellent. Good moisture content, melted perfectly; not under or over done. Just right. Equally important in a good thin crust pie is the ratio between crust/sauce/cheese. Get it wrong and the pie quite literally falls apart. The ratio here between these three simple (but critical) ingredients was perfect. Absolutely spot-on. Pepperoni: Very good. Excellent flavor, but I just wish there had been a little bit more (not skimpy, by any means, but I would have like a little more - this is a very minor nit to pick, which is why I'm still giving 5 stars). Price: Reasonable. I believe the 16" pepperoni pie was $13, which is right in line with what I'd consider "normal". I enjoyed my pizza from Milano Trattoria very much. read more

The portions for pasta is 1/2 a cup two lousy microwaved pieces of chicken of mediocre spices and taste. Had to complain to get more pasta and all i get is the same chef comes and attacks you at the table when you give them the honest truth I say avoid this restaurant at all costs have a clue if you have a person complain about the portions you don't come back and reply that this is my portions and if you go anywhere else they are double priced for what you got. First, the pre-emptive wording. If you're a Texan, (no offense intended) you might not like this place. It's authentic Italian, which, by nature, means that most Texans can't tell Chef-boy-ar-dee Spaghetti in a can from authentic properly prepared Spaghetti. Having said that, if you want simply prepared, cooked authentically, Italian dishes, properly seasoned using the right sauces on the right pasta, you'll love this place. The guys that run it pour their heart in it, and that's a shame, since so few people here really understand Italian. Go give it a try. See what makes it "authentic." I love Italian food, and am pretty particular about the quality of it. With that being said, the pasta dishes both I and my boyfriend had here were really, really good. Salad wasn't impressive, but the bread was also yummy so that wasn't a deal breaker for me. Our service was very good, although it felt a little weird and empty because there was only one other couple in there on a Saturday night. The reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the manager (?) brought us the bill about 10 minutes after we got our entrees, and asked us to pay (including tip) right away so they could close out the register. Didn't ask if we wanted another drink, dessert, or anything. We felt this was pretty rude considering when we walked in I asked if they were closing soon and they said no, please sit down, and we ordered and ate quickly. After an inexhaustibly hot day at the little league baseball fields in Taylor we had to stop to feed everyont.. I used my handy dandy Android Yelp app and found this place... We literally sampled tried just about everything and it was so good. From the pizza to soup to the pasta dishes we all wanted more more more... the desserts were fantastic and almost overkill on sweetness after the delectable dinner dishes. This was the worst experience I had in a pricey restaurant. Came herein the afternoon after lunch hour. Place was empty except my family, we were four adults and two kids. Service was okay- the food was all tasted like pre heated from plastic pouches. Tasteless with poor presentation. Four small pieces of bread, waitress asked me if I would like cheese over my food I said yes and instead of fresh cheese they just brought me a bottle like I was at a pizza place. The chef recommended that I get beef pepperoni, European sausage, and feta cheese. The combination was amazing. My wife ended up loving her order as well. What a jewel of a restaurant! Small and charming, reminds me of the trattorias I had the pleasure of experiencing in Italy. The food here is wonderful! Great food, good prices. I had the Italian Flag Farfalle (basil, sun-dried tomato, & spicy sausage). Slightly greasy, but delicious. Nice sear on every piece of sausage, and PERFECT al dente pasta. Generous portion. My wife tried a spinach and three cheese calzone. You know how most calzoni are filled mostly with air? Not this one. LOTS of spinach, with a blend of cheeses including just enough ricotta to make it nice and creamy without being runny (I'd guess the other two were mozzarella and pecorino), all wrapped in wonderfully crusty pizza dough. Superficially this place looks a little like a mall food court Italian joint, right down to the Roma-branded paper cups, but the cooked-to-order food more resembles a mom-and-pop restaurant, if Mom and Pop were the children of Lombard immigrants. read more

I love this place! Upscale atmosphere with a 3 star price! The service was excellent and the authentic dishes that are offered are made by the in house chef who takes pride in his food! He came out and checked on every table to see if the food was satisfactory... I call that pro. I have been here many times before, never yelped it.. But my favorite is risisoto con pollo.. An awesome cheesy chicken and rice.. Anyway, the changed the menu and for some reason it wasn't there anymore... So I had the waitress ask the chef if he could make it... And YES! I had a very negative and unexpected experience. I ordered my food online and it said it'd be ready in 30 minutes. I got there a 10 minutes late and they said itd be just a short wait. Well.... much to my surprise I would be waiting quite a while so I waited in the car but they said theyd being it out. I knew they were busy so I tried to be a good sport. However, after another 20 min I came back in and they said they were boxing it now. Flash forward another 20 min and it wasnt done so I went to explain to my wife they were just really busy. When I came back in the restaurant the food was waiting. About 75 minutes after I ordered it and 45 minutes after the time they said itd be ready. Knowing my wife would kill me for waiting so long and not checking to be sure everything was there I began to make sure all our items were in the bags. That was when a grumpy lqdy started to yell at me. She said it was unacceptable to check my food here at the counter and if I didnt trust them I should have been here while they bagged it. She followed with " youre just a driver after all!" Which I found extremely disrespectful to any worker of the service industries, as if it was okay or acceptable to treat a driver like that. I asked her where I could check my food and she said go to the bar. This was puzzling because thay was only 5 ft from where I was checking my food but I went to the bar. By this point many people turned to see what all the yelling was about. My initial inclination was to yell back at her but I didnt want to cause a scene and I tried so hard to give her and this restaurant the benefit of the doubt - maybe just a busy stressful night, maybe just caught them at a bad time.... maybe just accidentally set her off with the wrong thing at the wrong time. After I checked my food and saw it was all there i quietly asked the person who yelled at me if they were the manager or hostess and she replied thay she was Rose, the owner. I told her I thought she was strangely and unacceptably rude towards a customer and it didnt make sense. I always check my food since Ive been disappointed missing an item or two all too often. She replied, angrily and loud as before, that if I didnt like it I could feel free not to return. Then she tried to say she was liable for the food burning me if I checked it too soon. Again, somewhat puzzling. I waited 2 weeks before posting this because I didnt want to write it in anger, but it was almost surreal at how angry and unexpected this was. As far as the food: my pasta trio was very so-so, and my wife had the baked ziti which she described as "just ok". My son had buttered noodles which felt more like drowned butter noodles - extremely greasy though acceptable. My other son had fettucini Alfredo which was also just ok. I didnt try the pizza though I can honestly say it did look delicious. However, the typical pasta dishes that we ordered were far too low end of average to get again, even if it were cheap food and it was somewhat pricey on top of all that. With respect to the owners attitude, I hope she can turn that around because the other workers seemed to be hard working and genuine and aside from the owner's disrespectful attitude, the place seemed to have a decent ambience. Overall 2/5 stars for the food but 0/5 for the disrespectful interaction with the owner. read more

We go to many Italian places to eat but usually at least a basic salad is included. (The salad was $3.00 for the salad. They were good but like I said basic salad would of been nice for free with an option to upgrade to a special salad.) THE FOOD WAS AWESOME though. I do not understand the comment by someone who said food was on paper plates ... not for us. The atmosphere is casual. This place was pretty darn good. My brother and I split two pizzas, one was spinach & mushroom and the other had feta and some kind of sausage on it. They were really good, I just wish they wouldn't have cooked it so long, the crust was a little crispy, even for me. Hubby had a calzone that was big as yo' face, and he ate the whole thing! We split four different desserts: tiramisu, chocolate cake with mascarpone icing, Italian cream, and carrot cake. Surprisingly, the carrot cake was the best, it was awesome! I was looking for a quality restaurant to have lunch at and stumbled across the fantastic reviews of Milano Trattoria. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs and was fairly disappointed with my meal. The pasta was very over cooked and the pasta sauce lacked true flavor. The sauce simply tasted like tomato pasta, water, and lots and lots of oil. While it looked like the sauce had been pieces of basil in it, I believe that they were not simmered with the sauce itself, as the sauce lacked flavor. Furthermore, only 3 small meatballs came with this meal. I would have been okay with the lack of meat if the meatballs themselves were amazing. Unfortunately, the meatballs were dry and lacked flavor - they simply tasted of unseasoned meat. Personally, I could have received a better meal at Olive Garden for a comparable price, and I am not a fan of Olive Garden. The only reason I am rating this place 2 stars is because of the average wait staff service. Ultimately, this place needs to improve the quality of its food and try to find a way to offer above-average service. I will not be back. read more

We visited Milano Trattoria on the recommendation of a friend. It didn't disappoint. I'm rating 4 stars because everyone can improve a little, and the same goes here. Pros : Cleanliness and friendliness Bruschetta - really well done. Love the cheese combination. Rolls - out of this world hot and crispy on top, with a great flavor Fettuccine Ragu with goat cheese - all I can say is wow! Love the combo of Italian sausage and goat cheese. Pizzas - nice crust, quality toppings, good flavor. Cons: Caprese salad - tomatoes seemed over ripe, and maybe not Roma as I'm used to having - but that could just be my preference. Preparation / presentation wasn't as good as I would expect , especially considering the other food we ordered. I think they should step their game up on this appetizer. It isn't too far off from being great. The balsamic / dressing on top is great, as was the mozzarella, and the basil. House salad - I was surprised by the house salad. I know I shouldn't expect much, but it just doesn't match the quality of the other food we ordered. I think this is another area where they could improve to have a more consistent experience.
