I noticed it upon installation, I called them to make the report and was given a 3 weeks waiting time to come and fix it, well, the appointment time arrived and "no show". My brand new windows just got installed and they don't move on the tracks, customer service is just a nightmare!!!! Not returning my calls, had to call them myself again and again. Now I have to wait for a month until a technician will come to see it. Brand new windows that were supposed to be smooth and amazing are NOT even moving and I have to wait for so long only for a technician to come. We have a custom home with over $20,000 Milgard windows and doors. Our Tuscany V400 double sliding door will not open or lock. I've called Millard and emailed them, receiving a claim number. The low E coding has failed on every single sliding window in our home built in 2006. All of our neighbors in our Temecula Creek neighborhood have experienced the same problem with every window Milgard has manufactured. The dismissal of customer complaints has been Milgard's consistent reply to myself and all of my neighbors. I feel sorry for any new neighborhood being built that do not have a choice of window manufacturer and receive the Milgard product. These windows will continue to fail through out their lifetime. The few neighbors who have successfully been given replacements by Milgard have since failed again. Once the low E coding on your window fails you can no longer see through them. I have been quoted over $6000 in glass replacement to fix this issue. We are the only family to ever live in this house however because the original owner sold me the house Milgard refuses warranty replacement. Please tell me if it's a lifetime warranty why do you not stand behind your product. I would never recommend this company's product. To Mariana. Absolute worst. Please save yourself the effort and don't use them. It took us 4 months to get someone to come to our house to fix three of the windows that were broken in some way after only having them 2 years. When the guys finally came from Sacramento to Oakland they didn't bring the parts to fix the window despite asking for photos from us at least three times. The windows looked nice when we got them but the weather stripping started taking off within a year (I don't believe they offer weatherstripping under the warranty anymore and it's obvious why) and they started breaking in various ways since. Terrible service, non responsive and if you can actually get someone to Come by they don't bring the tools needed. Save your money and go elsewhere- you've been warned! read more

Terrible customer service- we notified Dixieline that our doors were bowed and they never responded until we got the manager involved. they notified Milgard and Milgard contacted us a short while later.They sent their quality control tech out and he was very polite and helpful. he took all the measurements and verified that both sliding doors were bowed. Milgard brought out new doors but they were wrong and these two techs did more measurements and said that their original tech measured wrong so they would order new doors! Milgard cancelled their appointments with us three different times because they did not have the doors they said they had when they made the appointments (all at their time and day). They routinely cancel appointments the day of and reschedule at their convenience without asking us if we'll be available. This has gone on now for 9 months and we still have bowed doors! read more

In the past, Milgard was the gold standard for customer service on windows and doors. We have about 30 Milgard windows in our house. In the past, when we have had problems, they were very responsive and provided us with parts (for free under warranty) to repair the problem. Recently, we had similar problems and received horrible customer service We were given a run around for about 3 weeks and in the end the company did not/could not provide us with any help at all. The company just doesn't care about providing service or supporting their customers or standing by their products. Somehow and great company and turned into an awful company. So happy that we purchased Milgard windows when we remodeled our home. We had condensation between the panes of glass in our upstairs sidelights. 15 years ago we replaced our windows and doors with Milgard in Simi Valley. We replaced 22 windows, a double door and a single door. A few years ago the double door became difficult to close. We continued to struggle, we had even hired someone to fix the doors, but it still did not close properly. We finally remembered that Milgard has a lifetime warranty service and called. They were very helpful and had records of the windows and doors that had been replaced and my address. Milgard even felt that we should have called sooner with the problem. We made an appointment for a service man. Our service man came and just looked at the doors and said, it just needs an adjustment. He suggested that our house may have settled since they were installed. So simple. I believed we had to replace these double doors because they just did not work. I recommend purchasing Milgard windows and doors. I believe they stand by their product and warranty. We plan to purchase 2 sets of double doors in the near future for our bedrooms. read more

This comes from a first responding ER RN nurse in San Diego working 14 hr shifts. This is In Regards to a 5000.00 plus French Tuscan door I purchased. Their customer service made my day Worse after working a 14 hour shift at an ER here in San Diego dealing with death and dying. Anyways these milgard employees transferred me 5 times between service and sales saying no your issue is with sales then vice versa with service. They did not thoroughly try to at least investigate the matter it was like playing let see who wants to work today and provide professional service. Your employees should have a set of questions to determine who should properly service the customer instead of immediately delegating the service to another department. Now this is on top of a defected door they shipped over to me. The day milgard employees initially delivered the Tuscan door I immediately spotted a red scratch mark and a scratch that extended out from that red mark that appeared to be painted white. It seemed that someone tried to cover up the damage with pen white out. I then immediately asked the Milgard delivering crew staff to look at the defect he immediately said "ohhh it's just glue your contractor installing the door will clean it off." After further inspection it was definitely a scratch and not glue. Milgard I hear provides quality service and top grade Product. Well the product seem quality like without the defects deserving a 4/5. The customer service I rate a 0/5 you all need to orientate your workers seriously. Overall all so far 1.75/5. Very angry at both Milgard and Home Depot. Home Depot and Milgard did not communicate with each other. They gave me an ETA, but it meant nothing. Very frustrating. Milgard shipped the windows wrapped haphazardly which caused some cosmetic damage. Milgard didn't ship a screen with one of my casements. Long story short neither Home Depot or Milgard were any help in getting me the lost screen. Home Depot and Milgard are a toxic combination. Buyer beware! read more

This company was sold years ago. Its the worst customer service along with having defective windows installed. They have come back in the last 3 years to replace a window over 4 times that leaks and every time they come back to replace it the new window its defective also. The French sliders they installed leak inside the house in the runner of stationary glass. I have owned many homes and never had this happen. They told me it's normal, it's not. I needed warranty service on a window that was not operating properly. Their warranty service appointments have always taken a long time to get. This time, it was scheduled for six weeks away. The technician came and worked on three windows. I did not check his work, however, when I went to open the one window a few days later, it was obviously not repaired correctly. I called MIlgard 3 days after the technician was out here and they unapolegetically informed me that the technician had closed out this case and I would have to call back and schedule a new service call that will take another 4 to 6 weeks to have someone come out! That's not right. I patiently waited in line to have my problem corrected. I should be given an immediate appointment with a field manager who goes out and does nothing but handle these types of problems. read more

We had three windows that needed to be replaced in our San Francisco home: two picture windows had leaks and a single-hung slider had clouded between the panes. Here's our experience: 1. At the behest of the company that installed the windows, Milgard sent out an inspector. He inspected and measured the windows and told me to expect a call from Milgard. When no call was forthcoming I called the national Milgard 800-number, and after more than an hour on hold, I finally talked to someone who found the report and scheduled the service appointment. 2. They arrived after driving up from Hollister. One picture window went in easily. The other shattered like a car window does (it was tempered glass, why I'm not sure) during installation. They reinstalled the old window and used my shop vac to clean up the mess inside, although we still sometimes find bits and pieces. After the cleanup, they replaced the slider. I asked, and was assured it was soundproof glass like the one it replaced. Turns out it was not. The new window was much nosier than the one it replaced and difficult to close because the spring counterweight mechanism was designed for a heavier window. Also, it cracked the day after installation. It appears Milgard used the thinnest glass it possibly could. 3. I called Milgard again and the voice recording recommended filling out an online service request. I did this twice. Nothing happened. I called Milgard again and explained about the cracked window. They wanted measurements for the replacement, which I wasn't comfortable providing since it sits inside a frame. We also scheduled a time for Milgard to replace the picture window that shattered during the installation. 4. Crew arrived with new picture window and installed it without incident. They measured the slider with the cracked glass and confirmed that one of the two panes needed to be noise-resistant (laminated) glass. They also gave me a local phone number to call and recommended I check if I hadn't heard from Milgard in two-three weeks. I waited a week and called. I confirmed specifications for replacement. Next available appointment was two months out (January). I took it. In the meantime we lived with added noise and a window clouded internally with moisture due to the crack in the outside pane. 5. Milgard tech arrived this week and replaced cracked slider. It operates as it should, reducing noise and sliding up and down easily. Since embarking on this process I have learned that Milgard has changed ownership and service has suffered. This is not surprising. New owners often try to squeeze costs to build profits. Our experience suggests that warranty service may be one such victim. We have a lifetime warranty on the Milgards and will use it if we need to, but I will not purchase new Milgard windows again. read more

I purchased door and windows 2 years ago and recently had issues w/ 2 doors because of the contractor and poor installation. There was an issue w/ a part on the lock mechanism as well. I jumped on the website, filled out a work order form, took about 2 weeks for them to come but they came, replaced parts and fixed what was needed, all free of cost. I'm really glad I went with Milgard because I was told they're the best with warranty. I couldn't find my receipt but they have numbers on each item that is easy for them to verify. We bought a new house in Irvine that was built by California Pacific Homes. They chose Milgard windows because of their insulating quality (most of our energy usage is from lighting, not cooling or heating). With the experienced team installing in our development, all of our windows worked fine for the first 5 years we lived in the house. As we are coming up to sell the house, we had it inspected and the inspector identified 5 windows that had condensation between the panes and would require warranty replacement. I don't think we would have noticed this without the inspector pointing it out. Following the instructions on their website, I identified the job order and the window numbers and made the call for warranty claims. The agent took our information and gave us a date about 7 weeks out for the replacement. So far, this has been totally reasonable. With a prior company, we could not replace our windows with this problem. The fact they just needed a call to move ahead with resolving the problem seems to me that they are reasonable to work with. The date of the order was built into every window in our house, so that was easy to find. read more

Called Milgard said they won't offer any warranty or even a discount and even admitted it was a manufacturer defect. So they are saying it's a known problem, and their fault but still will do nothing. Worst customer service EVER! Bought over $25k worth of windows and doors from Milgard via Home Depot. Many arrived with issues such as missing hardware, lock mechanisms, broken handles, paint issues, screens ripped, etc. & Milgard has been virtually unresponsive. I have spent weeks trying to get them to respond to me. They want to shove my complaint back over to Home Depot and they have been worthless too. I should expect that Milgard would step in and handle these issues in a timely fashion as my home cannot even be secured with these faulty windows and doors. I am beyond frustrated and what's worse is that we got paired up with Hank at Milgard who is extremely reactive & unprofessional in handling customers. He does't "respond" to customers, he "reacts" to customers. He is an extremely poor representation of this company. We're sorry we opted for Milgard. Should've gone the Anderson or Pella route. This whole experience has been been nothing but a nightmare. Lesson learned. Disappointing and not at all how business should be handled. And, as far as the companys response here on Yelp- not really sure how "responding" to a social media email address is going to remedy our concerns. Because guess what? I ALREADY DID THAT about 2 weeks ago and NOTHING came from it. The only positive that came from this experience was when Bobby and Jaime showed (after over a month of trying to get Milgard to respond)- they are Milgard field representatives. I overruled my husband and insisted on Milgard when it came to replacing our windows throughout our house. It has been a nightmare from start to finish, but here's the capstone of the experience: The picture window installed in our living room has a gigantic streak on it, 3" wide by 36" long of opaque white and it is sandwiched between the panes of the double paned glass. So you wash it on the outside, it doesn't come off. Wash it on the inside, it doesn't come off. They promised us left and right it would get fixed under warranty. THREE WEEKS after a warranty service request was submitted, Megan with warranty services called. She said she could not even verify that we had an order with Milgard and couldn't even verify we had any sort of warranty without getting the number on the window. We, of course, are away for the next few weeks and can't get physical access to the window until the end of the month. I asked if we could get a placeholder appointment set and she said absolutely not without even information if we even were under warranty. I tried to give her our address, the name of the installer, anything she wanted - but no, it had to be a little serial number on the window. What an awful company! read more

Windows are complete garbage and service from Milgard is worse. The windows started developing a haze between the panes within a few years of being installed. Now almost every window has gone bad. Some so bad that you can hardly see through them. Calls and requests through the internet to Milgard had gone unanswered for a few years. I am working from home now so had the opportunity to wait on hold long enough to speak with someone at Milgard to be told that I was out of luck: I am not the original owner of the windows. Windows are now 11-12 years old, and everyone will need to be replaced, as some are now so bad that you can hardly see through them, and the others are gradually worsening. I could understand Milgard not wanting to replace a window at this timeframe, but I can't understand why they refuse to assist when all windows have gone bad; They are "clearly" defective, and Milgard does not want to stand behind their product. read more

In frustration I finally started calling retailers listed on the Milgard website in my area explaining the situation and asking if they had any advice or if I could just pay them to fix the doors. A local company called Healdsburg Lumber / Hudson Street Design not only came out with a normal period of time (2-3 weeks) but they got the parts from Milgard and before long the door was fixed. They didn't charge me anything for the work, and I'm not sure if they were able to be reimbursed by Milgard. I know i'm posting this 11/27, but everything was resolved around July, 2019 and I wanted to provide this tip in case someone else is struggling with similar issues. read more

Milgard is absolutely horrendous. When leaving a negative review on their corporate website using their review me section they kept deleting my review. Apparently Milgard does not like hearing about their shady dealers and will make sure nobody can read about their actions. Makes sense now why all their dealers have "five stars". They came the first time to repair/ replace 2 windows and they gave the technician one wrong window. He returned after three weeks and did the replacement. He did a great job. We had swirl marks inside the window due to a "leak". One window was actually broken under the seal, the other somehow had a leak. Milguard stands behind their products.
