I had 13 windows installed. One had a defect and Milgard replaced it. It is now the only window that fogs up (on my view window). I was informed this was normal and due to temperature and humidity and location. No explanation could be offered as to why just one window does this (the one that was replaced). And that makes no sense since there are other windows right next to it with the same temperature and humidity that do not do this. I only was able to get an answer after having to call to get through numerous times because the request for service I submitted on line was never responded to even after 12 days. They told me to put RainX on my window. I will try this, but am not happy with their response or their service. Unhappy Milgard customer !! read more

I am here to chime in as to the fact that Milgard doesn't stand by their promises. In 2014 even thought I wasn't the original owner Milgard graciously replaced my manufactured defective windows. In 2014 I was promised that they would replace the others if they became defective. Now that my windows are defective they refuse to honor their stated agreement. Standing behind their legalese knowing that their lifetime warranty isn't worth anything but maybe 7 years as that is how long most folks won't their property. They are not a good corporate citizen and they really don't take consumer complaints seriously otherwise why not honor their agreement. read more

Milgard Windows & Doors - Bad window - Windows Installation Near Me - Temecula, California

In two weeks time a bathroom window and living room window have spontaneously cracked. I am not sure when the windows were purchased as they were installed by a prior owner of the home. I live in San Diego and have not experienced any major weather fluctuations or catastrophic events to cause the breakage. We purchased our Milgard windows in 1992. Last month I noticed a little fogging in two of our windows. Apparently a small pinhole leak can cause the gas in the 1 inch airspace to allow moisture in. I emailed Milgard in Temecula and received a reply within a week. My Appointment was scheduled for an inspection. After the appointment and measuring, another appointment for installation was scheduled a few weeks later. A two-man crew arrived wearing booties gloves and facemasks. Extremely professional, and installed both windows perfectly. Great to know that 28 years later they still honor their Lifetime Warranty! Thank you Milgard! read more

(Knocked off a star because obviously we wish we didn't have to deal with the manufacturer defect at all. We already had one batch of windows develop a film between the panes, and recently had a few others develop the same problem. However, this review is for our experience with Milgard's repair under their lifetime warranty, not the product). We just had several windows repaired under Milgard's lifetime warranty (originally installed around 2005). They gave us no pushback about honoring the warranty, and were able to schedule the work within several weeks. They texted, as promised, with an arrival time, and they honored it. The actual work took just over an hour and the window panes look new. If you should need to have warranty work done, you will need to locate the identifying numbers inside your windows, which can be a little tricky. read more

Because we are the original homeowner of the house, Milgard came out and replaced them under their original lifetime warranty. The replacement team was fast, professional and did a top quality job. New construction in anchorage alaska. Befor even moving all locks on windows didn't work or broke. Don't close all the way had one rep in state come by give me some parts and tells me there easy to adjust. Call back to ask him to adjust cause that's not my line of work. Takes him a hour. First winter frost was so bad ruined my window sills on a few windows looked out side and there's gaps on all there miters. I purchased a Milgard Multi-sliding patio door and I must say, the thickness and durability of the door standards have changed. It seems structurally weak. The aluminum material is thinner than it should be. This door supposedly took 4 months to make due to the paint processes needed to paint the metal white but the paint scraped so easily during the install that the door looks like it is already a few years old and I only installed it last week. The screens are so flimsy. The serial identification is nowhere on the product either. A lot of my issue with the door may have a lot to do with the quality and professionalism of the install too. I wanted to buy an American made product but for 7 grand, I just expected better from Milgard. read more

Milgard Windows are a joke! When we purchase the new house, we immediately found that most of the windows (14 in total) are out of order, either too hard to open or lift, or too loose to close properly. We called Milgard and they asked to contact the local dealer. The dealer came, spread some thing on the window and charged us $80.00 for just 20 minutes and that is it! Up to now, most of our windows still not working, and don't know what to do with them? To repair? we already had the bad experince with the dealer, to change, it is too expensive. I put in 12 Milgard windows during a remodel 9 years ago, including a mix of double-hung and custom fixed windows. I've always been very happy with the double hungs, with good movement, latching, and great access for cleaning both sides of the glass without removing screens. After 9 years, 3 of the 6 custom fixed windows developed a discoloration on the surfaces between the glass. I took a picture and sent the info to Milgard. Milgard found my original sales information and scheduled a tech visit. I was just expecting the tech to verify the problem with the window, but was happily surprised to find that Milgard had already made the custom window replacements. Taking about 10 minutes per window, the tech did a very clean and efficient replacement of the 3 discolored windows, and everything looks like new again. Since I went through a contractor, I had zero paperwork or records of the actual window purchase, but Milgard was still instantly able to find all the details of what I'd bought. They must have validated the failure using my pictures, and mostly on good faith they pre-made the replacement windows to save us both an extra visit, using the specs they clearly keep on file. Seven years ago my husband and I had all the old aluminum windows in our house replaced by Milgard ones. They have been wonderful, but a few months ago the side panels in one large window started fogging up. We called Milgard, and one of their window experts, Robert Denny, came out to replace the fogged panels. He arrived on-time and did a terrific job. We purchased 3 Milgard windows to replace some leaky window in our dining area. After we installed them, and got to stucco redone, we notice a small "flaw" in the flashing on the bottom of one window. I called, and they scheduled an appointment right away. They arrived on time, an easily fixed the flashing. Very efficient, very friendly service. Milgard is renowned for their replacement warranty. Poor 1st time quality window. Bought a Milgard Tuscany sliding window (serial number 1758865-00) from 1st windows.com . After took the window home found out inside trim have a big gap between glass and the trim and the joint between trim was not fitted properly. Looks like a poor workmanship and seems like Milgard never check their window quality before ship out to their customer. Took the window back to 1st windows and they told me Milgard probably will not take the window back and the only way is to do the service call and which will take more than 6 weeks. It was waste of time. Was planning on replace the rest of house windows with Milgard but now have a 2nd thought. Probably will go with Jeld-Wen. They took their defective window back if they ship you a defective window and make you a new window promptly. read more

Aaron Lee RUDE!!!!! spoke over me every time I tried to get a word in. 5 of 6 windows were delivered, late! and one was forwarded to a different city (Sacramento) to process because their Semi Valley location keep breaking the material. I wonder why I was able to get some, so now I'm worried that their quality is garbage too. Oh wait, I know they're garbage because after this review I have to call service to have someone come out and fix them because they're CROOKED! and the bottom rail is exaggeratedly lifted. We purchased our home approx. 3 yrs. ago. This home has Milgard windows. The windows are wonderful, no fogging, etc. Most of our windows have the grid. I want to replace the windows with glass without grids. We have the sealed units, low e. I called Milgard and they are wonderful with info. and helping but they don't sell to the public. They referred me to a local glass co. My issue is that I got quotes to replace windows as I specified and it is extremely expensive!!! JUST THREE WINDOWS in our home is $2,361 for glass (no frames at all) and $2,940 for glass (still no frames) with installation! I have probably 25 windows in my home. Should it be sooooo expensive, especially as I would be using my existing frames??? read more

Still waiting for a large window that arrived the wrong size, then reordered, no expedited timeframe, arrived 8 weeks later mangled--unusable and its replacement was promised 7 weeks ago. Also still waiting for a glass unit that arrived damaged, but customers reps are mysteriously impossible to connect with. Will not return emails. No updates. Nothing. Window spacers are all different--even windows right next to each other. Screens all the wrong size, and the handles, oh please. Today, a sliding window just cracked across the middle. No reason. Just cracked. My window installers are wonderful craftsmen, but their hands are tied, held hostage by dealing with the type of company Milgard is. If only I knew then what I know now. read more

I have an appt scheduled for today, but had not received any confirmations. So, I called (holding for 20 minutes) and was told that I called two days ago and rescheduled the appt for June 11. Which I did not. Then the gal proceeded ask if my husband cancelled the appt. NO! Why would he? The the gal told me the next appt available is July. Not happening. I/we DID NOT CANCEL our appointment. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard!! I stayed home from work for this! We built our home and moved in June 2015. We have three french doors. All were to be ordered with brush nickel hardware. Well, they came with a combo of white and stainless hardware, white handles outside and brushed nickel inside. The brackets were mixed color. I would say that is very bad quality control on their part. So, the next three appts - the service guys brought out the same mixed up hardware. Apparently, they don't check the hardware before coming out to make sure they have enough or the correct parts. Other issues: Glass with spots inside, which was a replace window to begin with. Doors not hanging properly, opening or even locking. Since then, they've been out, guessing, 15 times in 3 years. They are definitely losing money on this job. Replaced the doors, hardware and it's still not right!! But, today has sent me over the roof! This company is making me crazy. Their lack of organization, customer service and quality of products has made it so that I will never use this brand again when building. This is our 3rd home we've built and last with Milgard. I did not reschedule with the snotty gal on the phone for July. I left a message with, what I'm assuming is management, to reschedule for next week. Let me save you a lot of time, money, and headaches... Milgard products are absolute junk and their "lifetime warranty" is infested with fine print that relinquishes them from all responsibility. I have a 4000sf house with lots of windows, so...yeah...this is a big deal. Milgard refuses to take ANY responsibility for their foggy broken windows. No fix. No discount. Nothing. I bought my Milgard windows and doors from Builders Finish Supply. I contacted them, who in turn contacted Milgard and arranged for a service call to fix a problem a little over 2 weeks out. They called me ahead of time to ask if they could come ahead of schedule. That was great. They arrived yesterday, and fixed the problem in about an hour. They were quite courteous and did not give up. They had all the equipment, etc. that they needed. Ordered a moving glass wall a little over a month ago and was called last week to schedule delivery date. Crew sat at the house for the 9 am delivery and when no one showed by noon they called. As the original owner of my house, I had a leaky skylight replaced free of charge. Four people came to replace it. The four of them, were very professional and very careful. I appreciate! Actually, the new skylight looks better than the original one. If I were to build a new home again, I would have installed Milgard windows. Do NOT purchase Milgard Windows!! They offer a lifetime warranty for a reason, their window parts break repeatedly and the glass gets fogged and distorted about every five years. They have a major flaw with the "riser" the part that keeps the window on double-hung up. This is a big SAFETY issue if you have small children or pets that are near the windows. When the "riser" breaks the window comes crashing down with nothing to stop it and sometimes the glass shatters. We have had several windows break repeatedly from this issue. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. They will send out technicians about a month out after you report it and the techs so up with the incorrect parts to repair your window(s) so you have to res-schedule and wait a few more months. We have an issue with a couple of our windows which require service/replacement. My sister Constance spoke with John in Customer Service - what a gem of an employee! Although the schedule is quite booked at the moment, he was able to arrange our windows to be addressed within a three week timeframe. We expressed the need for an expedited repair due to a family issue, and he went out of his way to find a repair company who could respond within our timeframe. I built a new home a few years back. Due to Milgards amazing reputation and warranty, I went with Milgard throughout my 3 million dollar home. As with any project, problems arise. Recently, I've had extreme fading with my front windows. I contacted Milgard 02/2022 and the service has been terrible! I submitted a request and it took months for them to show up/constant no shows/cancellations. Finally, the rep shows up and points out I have (1) bad window pane. He had to order this prior to addressing the paint issue. Months later, they finally replace (1) window and I never heard anything since then? When (twilight zone) I called back in November, I was informed my service request was closed? I submitted another? NO RESPONSE. I submitted another in December? NO RESPONSE. The representative Danette Riggs was rude/obnoxious/argumentative and honestly no help whatsoever. I finally the Service Manager Maria Duckworth! NO response. I then emailed the General Manager (Warren Lee)? NO response. I then emailed both the Service Manager and General Manager? NO response? Finally, I get a call Mid January from Danette and she is just rambling? In summary, I'm now told they refuse to address the paint issues/they refuse to fix the 3/4K door on the side. I was informed Danette 1st stated it wasn't covered under warranty? I'm now being informed I scrubbed the paint off? I'm appalled and I've contacted Milgard again and requested a meeting at the job site? NO RESPONSE? read more

I believe this company is joking when they write "We are committed to excellent service." This is my HORRIFIC story dealing with Milgard Windows & Doors (https://www.milgard.com/). We had an appointment to replace 9 windows under warranty on our home on 9/7/2017 (Case 04526858). When the service technicians arrived they did not have the correct windows with them so we had to reschedule service for Nov 2017. When they arrived in Nov at ~8:00 PM they determined that the measurements taken on 9/7/2017 were incorrect and they found additional windows that needed to be replaced (13 in total) so they needed to rescheduled the install for Jan 8, 2018 (this was the earliest that they could come to our house). Here we are on Jan 8, 2018 and they do not have all the windows once again, in fact, they only have 6 windows. The level of incompetence with this company is astounding! I have looked at all options to remedy this situations - by talking with the manager to confirming with the call center that they had all my windows on order prior to arrival. None of this has helped! Again, Buyer Beware! read more

I hired a Milgard dealer to install Milgard Glass Windows & Doors in my home. The product discussed and contracted for was not what the dealer brought to my home to install. The products were missing several features. On top of that, the installation was so bad that a building inspector from the city advised me that all my Glass Windows & Doors should be removed and reinstalled properly in order to pass inspection. Hands down the best customer service and warranty. They replaced 2 of my windows that were in need of replacement for 10 years at least. No questions asked. They gave me a 2 hour window and were there at the very beginning of that time frame. We purchased the windows as part of a remodel almost 20 years ago. Now that is a true lifetime warranty!!! And to think I almost didn't call them because I didn't think they would replace and for free! I'm over the moon thrilled and I can see through my front window again!!!! Immediately after I posted my negative review I received encouragement from a representative and within ten days a repairman was at my house. It took nearly two months to learn that my application of solar film on the doublepaned windows which had lost their seals effectively voided the warranty and there was nothing Milgard could do for me. Isn't it a shame that a business has to be run this way? I gave Milgard an additional star because so many Yelpers had received responses to their complaints. Oh, and the solar film voids the warranty because it causes heat to build up within the double panes which are hit by sunshine. The worst of my windows never receives sunlight..... read more
