Ordered catering from Mililani Restaurant I used to eat there often years ago when I worked at the same shopping center and the food was tasty and good and the noodles. It has been awhile since I had their food again and maybe they changed the cook but the food was not the same? The noodles are different which somehow seems like they are using a different type of noodles. The beef broccoli with vegetables was ok but lack taste. The macaroni salad was tasty like before but after finding a hair inside the salad lost my appetite. The tempura fish was good and tasty. The sweet sour pork was good and tasty. Did not try the teriyaki meat balls but there was a lot left over and the ones that tried it said it was so so but won't order it again. read more

Usually really good food... I ordered the Teriyaki meatballs plate thinking the meatballs were homemade but they tasted like the ones from Costco slathered in teriyaki sauce. It was very disappointing for that price and could've just bought a bag at Costco myself to accomplish just that. I will not be back for awhile. read more

Where do I even begin? Mililani Restaurant is hands down the best restaurant in all of Hawaii! Their noodles are absolutely unmatched--rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and totally crave-worthy. My wife and kids love it here, and it's become our go-to family spot. The katsu is crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor--just amazing. Mainly come here for the Shoyu Chicken as its my fav here. Its a roasted slightly crispy chicken Chinese style and a thicker shoyu glaze almost like teriyaki. Other menu items are good as well typical local food joint. Only thing I dislike is the mayo! The mac salad sometimes its hit or miss The other day ate fish and chips with the coleslaw. Thought the coleslaw had a vinegar taste but wasn't, was the mayo going bad. Had it happen a few times to the Mac just gets sour. Did end up having sore stomach and things associated with that lol. Other than that no issues with everything else Just dislike the mayo things here. read more

I always see this restaurant every time I come to mililani for my hair appointment at the Fantastic Sams.. I got hungry after my appointment so, I went and try this restaurant. The inside looks like a busy diner, so I know that their food is good.. The staff is friendly, the restaurant looks clean.. I like that take Apple Pay.. This place is a staple for me whenever I am in the Mililani area. I had the pork eggplant and the fried saimin. It was excellent. The pork Eggplant was so so moist and juicy it was so good. Went to this place 2x already for early dinner around 4:00. Easy to find parking, which is good, cuz I'm not from these parts. This past week, I had the chicken cutlet plate. The gravy is winnahs. Garanz hands-down, better than the gravy at most other places. My old man always says: "DA GRAVY EEEZ EVERYTING!!" Tasty, savory, darker brown, and super flavorful. Prices is reasonable and the portions is good-size. We dined in, but I still had enough for take home and eat for lunch the next day. It's so sad that this used to be my go to place but not anymore. Their food used to be good and my favorites used to be pork cutlet, fish and chips and hamburger steak. Don't know if it's new owners but after reading some of the other reviews I hope they will take pride in their restaurant and work on quality and not just quantity. I really tried to support this business even tho the food started to taste bad but after this last time, I just can't. Pork cutlet is different cut of meat, hamburger not homemade and was dry as hell and took a bite out of my fish and there's globs of uncooked batter! When I first moved to Mililani Mauka in 1997, I tried out Mililani Restaurant a few times. From what I recall, the food was ok, nothing special. What I do remember was that every time I went there, the staff was always rude and abrasive and I left there with a bad taste in my mouth. I'm guessing it's a family owned business based on what I could see from the staff and the unprofessional interactions between staff members. From that day on, I swore to myself that I would never go back there. Fast forward 24 years and I'm still in Mililani. This past Thanksgiving, I signed up to bring noodles for the work potluck. I procrastinated all day long so by the end of the day, the usual place that I normally order my noodles from was closed. Great . I was somewhat basically forced to go to the Mililani Restaurant out of location and convenience. I figured... "it's been 24 years ... how bad could it be. They must have changed and those two rude girls can't still be working there." Well ... 24 years later, same thing. Rude staff, ok food, and that shitty feeling still remains with me every time I leave that place. I dunno ... I don't get it but i just do not like this place. As i stood there waiting for the loud and unfriendly cashier to take my order, I glanced at their menu and was amazed at their regular plate lunch prices. A regular shoyu chicken plate was around $13! As for the pan of noodles I ordered, it was definitely quantity over quality. Bleh. They list their fried saimin as their 'most popular' item but coming from a local person who has had their fair share of fried saimin, it basically sucked. No taste ... just seemed like semi rubbery oily cooked noodles with shoyu and green onions. Like I said, quantity over quality. That's the ONLY reason I'm being nice and giving them 2 stars instead of a 1 star rating. They actually gave a lot of noodles (for what it's worth) in their medium size pan. Have been eating here for at least 34 years. Sad to say, that within maybe the last 2 years the taste and food quality has terribly declined. I live in Ewa so I rarely go now. The pork Katsu was hard like cardboard not crunchy and lack the fat ono of it. The noodles not cooked all the way and too much shoyu, chicken katsu no taste at all. The last time we went, someone had the shoyu chicken, that tasted just like shoyu. In the past you could taste it had oyster sauce, it had more flavor. 1 star for food taste and quality, 2 star because they give plenty and the rice was cooked good and Mac salad actually had flavor and the staff were awesome. Not sure if this is also showing a sign of decline, the place would normally have a few ppl in line all the time and others sitting to get their food, especially after 6pm. This time only had 1 table with ppl, 2 others just walk up to the counter to pick up phone order. Not sure if we will return anytime soon. Miss seeing Alice. And the owner. I think this place is just alright. Granted, I don't have the nostalgia boost of coming here growing up. It seems like the interior hasn't changed much in the past few decades (in a good way). It has that super retro, classic local spot vibe. Their most popular item, fried noodles, was pretty good if a bit oily. The noodles have a nice springy texture, but I couldn't eat that much since it got too heavy after a while. The flavor isn't that strong, so I recommend getting this with a protein like chicken katsu. They really pack that container full though. Definitely a good bang for your buck at $8.99 for a plate that can feed like 3 people. Was a bit disappointed with the shoyu chicken. I was expecting the usual chicken thigh braised in sauce, but it was a bone-in roast chicken cut Chinese style with sauce poured on top. I found the sauce kind of strange; it had more of a Chinese spiced flavor with a strong cinnamon-y smell. The sauce was really gelatinous at first and then after a while turned watery. I haven't visited Mililani Restaurant very often as it is a bit out of the way for me. Occasionally had takeaway with my sister and brother-in-law who live in Mililani. Thursday, I had lunch there and drove to the Mililani Shopping Center. My sister placed an order for their fried saimin ( a dish they are known for ) and shoyu chicken. It was quite busy which was why she took long. Both orders were quite good. The chicken entree would've been great had it not been for all the bones to contend with...tedious task. Fried saimin was good, not too many ingredients which clutter some noodle dishes. Prices are reasonable - sister treated - and plate lunches to entrees and side orders have all been good, at the very least. Parking is bad. There are a lot of stalls available at Mililani Shopping Center but the surface is uneven and a bother to drive or walk over. Hubby and I came here for lunch. I didn't want rice as it comes with everything. I decided to get some fried saimin and hubby got me a large drink so I filled it up with unsweetened iced tea. There's dine in now at the location but you need to scan your cell phone and fill out the information. We decided to dine in and enjoy our food. The large cups do not fit in your car cup holders unless you got big cup holders. Also you must wear a mask prior to walking in. The guy taking your order was super nice. He welcomed all his customers. The noodles were thick and on top were thin slices of ham and egg and some cabbage mixed in. It had a fishy taste to the noodles. Not sure if they put fish sauce on it. COVID-19 has changed the landscape of how businesses are run these days. But what should never change is customer service. Take for instance what happened this past Friday, March 18 2021. We had made a phone order for a number of plates and we were there for take out. As with many businesses, Mililani Restaurant has a new point of sale system which allows a customer to insert their payment card themselves and grab the receipt themselves. This point of sales system also allows customers to leave a tip if they want. So my gf decided to leave a tip and when the young man helping us saw that, he immediately said Thank You. We've been to other places and had left similar tips in the same manner. But nothing. No smile. No thank you. But here was this young guy, taking notice of the tip and was appreciative of it. Oh man, I really wanted to like this place because it's so popular with the locals. The beef stew was good, and the eggplant with pork stir fry was good enough for us to go back again. Unfortunately, on my second visit, I bit into a metal piece that appeared to have been a part of a Brillo pad. Had I not noticed it and swallowed, I could have ended up in the ER for this foreign object. I don't want to think about what else may have been dropped into the food along with the Brillo pad. I recently discovered this take out location after looking for a nearby Starbucks. I've heard of friends from the area talk about this place but I've never had the opportunity to check it out myself. Since I was coming to the area again, I made it a point to grab some lunch here the following week. As we were coming back into Mililani, I gave the restaurant a call to place an order. We decided to get some katsu curry, spaghetti and a Teri meatball plate. We arrived about 10 mins later and our food was waiting for us. It's a nice sized location, with lots of tables for patrons to eat on. Because of COVID, lots of places have built in some plexiglass barriers between workers and customers on countertops. This one had a nice, super long one that goes down their entire front countertop. First thing I noticed when I grabbed the bag was it was heavy! Everything smelt so good in the car. It was a short drive to the house, which was good since we were all starving. And I was amazed at how much food was in each container! HUGE portions, which always gets a two thumbs up from me! Spaghetti plate comes with a large piece of garlic bread. As a side note, it has a strong bell pepper flavor to it, so if you or your child doesn't like that, I'd order something else. Teri meatballs comes with 2 big scoops of rice and a scoop of Mac salad on the side. The meatballs are smothered in a mild Teri sauce and grilled onions. I loved it this one. It's not something you find at lots of places and it's simple to make but I'd rather just buy it. Hahha. Now, for the katsu curry. This was probably the winner of all. The chicken was huge slices! And came with about 3 big katsu sliced up. Juicy, tasty and crispy. Smothered on top was some plain Japanese curry. Mmmm. This also comes with 2 big scoops of rice and a Mac salad on the side. I should've asked what they're really know for or did some reading before ordering. But everyone has said we should've gotten their fried noodles! I will definitely be back and will get me some of those. The food lasted us a good 3 meals, and that's pretty unheard of anywhere. Was craving one mean katsu beef stew combo and my friend told me this place served exactly that. Did a phone order so I don't wait but when I went in the place was empty. Didn't get helped for a good 5 minutes but I understand they was doing something else. Menu pricing is affordable for sure. But when I got home was disappointed to see my beef stew was all mushy veggies and shredded meat. And my chicken katsu was surprising, not the usual panko crusted. 3.5 stars I have Fran C to thank for this find in Mililani. It's not often that I come to Mililani for client meetings anymore so this has been a bookmark of mine for awhile. This Easter, I had a goal to head out there to try their Shoyu Chicken that Fran always gets. When we arrived, the place was crazy busy. They filled the side room racks and half the tables with take out orders! Everyone was taking orders from customers or phone orders. They must be good if they are this busy. When a cashier was finally available, we ordered. Waiting gave us time to check out their menu. Mink ordered the Portuguese Sausage Fried Rice. She wanted Eggs Over Easy but the cashier said they will only do scrambled because of how busy they were. No exceptions. That was disappointing but they were slammed. I ordered the Shoyu Chicken with their famous Fried Saimin. Our friend Robert got the Chicken Katsu with Fried Saimin. It took awhile before our order came out but it allowed us time to get a fairly clean table to eat on. The Portuguese Sausage Fried Rice was very good! If only we had Eggs Over Easy on the fried rice. The Shoyu Chicken was a different interpretation of what I'm accustomed to but it was good. The meat was very moist and the sauce was good. Fried Saimin was really good as well. It took me a minute to realize I've had it before at potlucks. Chicken Katsu here is also different where it's not as flaky and the katsu sauce is in individual packages. We haven't seen that before. All the food is good and I wish they were closer to town.
