Good experience overall. They start taking customers for safety checks right at 8:00am but cars are already lined up before they open. There's signs that show you where to line up that are easy to follow. I went on a Wednesday morning and got in line around 7:25am (I was 4th in line at this time). However, once they start taking customers, they alternate from customers from the safety inspection line and the other line (so technically I was the 6th customer, not 4th). I ended up being called for my turn for safety inspection at 8:30am. Be sure to have your paperwork ready to hand them (registration and proof of Hawaii insurance). The safety inspection itself took less than 10 minutes; price was $26.96. Sign days cash only, but when I had to pay the service guy asked "cash or card?" I assume they do take card payments then, but I didn't chance it and took cash with me anyway. read more

Be aware that the inspector takes lunch from 12:30-1:30 pm. I was number 5 in line a little after 12:30. When the line started moving, I was done by 2:45 pm with no issues. Except for lunch time wait, and a few cars taking longer than others it was a good experience. read more

Attention customers when you fill up gasoline inside your vehicle please make sure to fill your gasoline tank until you hear a click on the nozzle handle. As soon as you hear the click remove the nozzle out from your gasoline tank and collect your change from the employee. If you need a safety check right away, Mililani Texaco has a drive through to get your safety check. While driving around waipio, I asked a customer while going to a gas station convenience store where is the closest valid gas station that does safety checks because the car repair shops around waipio needed to be scheduled, and the one at costco are closed on the very day I was looking for one (Wednesday). He said he found that is the cheapest and fastest place to get one in the area. I went at 1p, but they were closed for lunch and said they are gonna open at 2p, but people start lining up, and sure enough, when I returned at 1:55p, there were already 6 cars in line. Right at 2p, they started on the first car, and it was about a 45 minute wait (about 5-10 min each car) for him to check my car. To not hold up the line, have your registration, insurance and driver's license ready to give him. He had everyone step out and sit on a chair next to your car, and I could watch him perform my safety check. So fast, efficient, and can pay by credit card. It tickled me to watch what he does to issue a safety check, and that one employee have a great system to be so efficient and fast to go through a never ending line of cars. Service mechanic preforming safety check needs an ego check. Safety check for my boat trailer, parked in the inside 're check' lane due to tight turn in the normal lane. Informed the mechanic my position in the que due to circumstances, then was challenged with "I've seen guys with 20' boats make that turn" (my boat is 19') he tells me over that the lane I'm in is for re-check. I leave and go back around the block, lose 4 positions in line, and clip the metal stanchion (like I knew I would) as entering the line. I wait till it's my turn, check is preformed and then I get a "you ok with everything?" I said yes, he then says "the reason I'm saying that is because of your attitude" I let him have it - "you challenged me, I did as you said and here we are, you're the only one talking?!" Complete lack of self awareness and service. It's a captive audience so I get it, low IQ people take advantage of those workplace situations to cover their social incompetence. There was a left headlight that was out, these folks had me scheduled for next day and I had to come a little earlier than when they opened due to me being the only driver at the time. My mom and I planned on walking back home, the owner saw us and checked the lamp and replaced the bulb right then and there. Service was not good. Going there to get my safety check and trying to find answers on how to correct my issues on my lights he literally told me he can't help me with that. And I asked him multiple times that should I do to fix it and I get the same answer. All he said was changing the bulbs won't fix it...SMH no help what so ever. I don't fill up gas here because I only use ethanol free gasoline, but this place is great for car, SUV, and personal truck safety checks. So long you plan ahead a little and go early in the morning, or you make sure you have time to wait in line, they take about 15 minutes or less per vehicle if all your papers are in order. I've gone to them for over a decade, and only once when I mistakenly let the safety check expire was there any hassle. Even then, it was such a quick process on their part since I did the entire set of transactions in one day and the person doing safety checks remembered me. This is the place to come if you need a safety check. There are usually lines, but it moves pretty quickly. It takes about 3-5 minutes per vehicle. They have a great set up which helps to move the line quicker. Only thing, if you obtain a temporary safety check because something failed, you'll have to wait in the line again. I'm also waiting in line and it's 12:38pm and the worker just rolled out a sign mentioning they are going to be closed for lunch and will reopen at 2:30pm. A simple way to calculate your wait time will be approximately 10 minutes per car so depending where you are in line, just calculate accordingly. Safety inspectors are inconsistent. I brought my Evo x and it has a stock suspension. The inspector said I had modified suspension, and wasn't going to pass me . They had to call the dealer for the part , and later said ohh I didn't know that they use that type of suspension. read more

Looking for a...SAFETY CHECK? Drive on over to MILILANI TEXACO located on Kamehameha Highway right behind of the Mililani Shopping Center. My daughter's car needed a safety check, so I decided to go in the morning on a weekday. I thought it wouldn't be so busy, but I was wrong. When I pulled up, there were about 9 cars in line already. Oh no, I thought to myself "Should I wait? Or, "Should I come back on another day?" I decided to wait and take a chance. The wait was about 25 minutes long, but it went pretty quick considering the amount of cars ahead of me. Finally, it was my turn. Chris asked for my car registration and car insurance cards. Then, he told me to step out of the car and wait by the waiting area. He hopped into my car and drove it to the front. Chris checked everything and he told me to wait to be called. Within a few minutes, I was called to pay for the bill and pick up my paperwork. While I did this, another person placed the safety check decal on the bumper of the car. Getting a safety check will most likely get you a fail and you will have to get some things fixed ... understable ....it's the rules. But to do a half asses check and send you on your way to get it fixed and come back only to be told you still fail because something else is bad just sucks , why not check it completely the first time so I can take care of all the issues ?
