Surprisingly it was not crowded yet on a Friday evening. We were greeted upon entrance. The place is very clean that was the first thing I noticed. There are so many choices and variety of deliciousness . It was too many to chose from and I went with monkey business which has bananas and Nutella. After it was placed in the cups I had to choose toppings. Oh no! I thought I was done! Now I had to choose toppings! I had cookie crumbles and birthday cake teddy grahams. Then I was shown the other options and had that loaded on too!! It was so much and sooooo good!! The staff was very patient as we figured out our choices. Watching the rolled ice cream get made is a fun food experience. This was my first time here as I was fortunate enough to get selected for a Yelp elite event. Prices are around $6.50 per ice cream and this comes with unlimited toppings (as many that will fit in the bowl). There were a ton of different toppings to choose from, including a freshly toasted marshmallow! I love tea, and opted for the brown sugar boba ice cream that was made with black milk tea ice cream. It was a bit too bitter for my liking, but I loved the boba and my husband's chocolate ice cream was very good! The staff was super nice as well! I've been to both the Cary and Durham locations. My favorite is the strawberry matcha. It has real strawberries in it, and the milk used is actually noticeably fresh. Sometimes when I go, the strawberry flavor overwhelms the matcha, depending on who makes it, but it's not often. It can be on the sweeter side as well, but I just dilute it a bit by waiting for the ice to melt. I've also had the Hong Kong milk tea, rose tea, Thai tea and a few others. Our friends took us to the Milk Lab during our visit to North Carolina. We thought a nice cold, sweet treat would be a perfect addition to the fabulous day we were already having. The location was in a small plaza...the signage outside was very plain and simple. Big capital letters: MILK LAB. Once we (barely) squeezed in due to the amount of people inside, we stood in line...a long....long line. My husband was able to leave...get gas, come back and still have a few minutes to spare until our orders were ready. We visited last year in February...so I'm not sure if prices have changed since then, but we paid $6.47 each for the rolled ice cream (I have a picture of the menu board). We had one order of the "Monkey Business", which had Nutella and fresh bananas...and my other son got the Mango Madness which had fresh mangos mashed up in the ice cream. They also have quite an array of choices for milk cap tea, regular milk tea and fruit teas. Fun toppings were also available such as gummy worms, pocky sticks and that sickenly sweet colorful cereal they call Fruity Pebbles :) If and when we visit the area again, we'll definitely make a point to stop in! 4/5 only due to the wait. read more

Came here on the Tuesday where they were having a fundraiser and everything cost $1. Best way to enjoy my first experience at Milk Lab. Line was long, because....$1. I had NO idea what I was ordering but after asking the woman taking my money for her recommendation, I settled with the strawberry matcha milk tea. It was delicious and filling (got the largest size). I added Boba just because (never had it before). I initially made the mistake of using the large straw to drink my drink and ALL I was getting back was the Boba. But once I switched to sipping, I could actually get the liquid. There were fresh strawberries in it. My other choice was the Thai tea, I'd get that next time. My sis got cookie monster ice cream with nutella which was delicious!!! I've never had these teas before (except for a Thai tea at a Thai restaurant), so this was initially very overwhelming, despite having 30 min in line to make up my mind. But there are signs that explain the difference between milk cap tea and milk tea (see the picture for the description). Overall loved coming here and great add to the community read more

I would say this place is more known for their rolled ice cream. Almost everyone that came in while I was there had ordered the ice cream. I went there for their milk tea. When I looked through their menu, I saw they served floats. Since I have never had a milk tea float, I thought I would try it out. Basically it is their Oreo rolled ice cream (4 rolls of it) stacked inside a cup, and then they pour the milk tea into the cup. As far as the taste goes, it was decent. The ice cream and the milk tea did not enhance the other. It felt like two different items sharing a cup, rather than a mixed drink. The pricing ($8.93 after tax) sort of makes sense. You are essentially buying two different things ($4 for ice cream and $4 for a drink). The wait time is long though. The staff was friendly and apologized for the wait, which really makes a difference. If they had not acknowledged that, I would have probably gave less stars. The reason I can see they take so long is because of the rolled ice cream process. They have to chop, mix, and spread the ice cream. There were several ice cream orders ahead of me, so they took awhile before getting to mine. I waited about 10-15 minutes before they called me for my drink. read more

Expect to pay at least $4 to $5 for any regular sized beverage. There's a lot of people at night crowding around in small groups, physically distanced as much as possible. Most customers seemed respective and compliant to the new rule of waiting outdoors after you order. Yes yes yesssssss. I have been loving me a good boba tea since maybe sophomore year of HS when some friends took me out to Flushing to experience the magic of boba and karaoke (I grew up in NYC). First I love that they're playing it safe in the time of Covid, (thank you!!), their staff was so friendly and their cashier was amaze balls. I decided to bring my husband here after a massage for Father's Day. He didn't know but I am happy that I was able to surprise him. Milk Lab is located inside of a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. The do have parking in front of the location but it looks like some work was being done on that area of the parking lot. Milk lab is black and white which is cool + minimal. They have an extensive menu with teas, ice cream and other goodies! We went straight for the ice cream just because it was our first time but vowed to try something different next time. We ordered the Cookie Monster + campfire. They both were absolutely delicious. Because they were busy the line was very long so the process took a bit longer. We paid about $15 for the ice cream but it's worth it. My husband said that the bathroom was disgusting. He said that it reminded him of a gas station bathroom. So that's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. Also, they don't really clean off the tables so ice cream from the previous party was still on the table. The staff is very nice + pleasant. I would definitely go back here and I would recommend it. Got the milk cap rose oolong tea. Also ordered the milk cap jasmine green tea, Mango Madness rolled ice cream and the Monkey Madness, a Nutella Banana rolled ice cream. The teas were very pricey. It was over $5 for a small. They were served in fancy custom disposable plastic cups so that may account for the cost. My rose oolong tea was very good. The salted milk cap added an interesting rich creamy flavor to my tea. The jasmine green tea was excellent...full of floral flavor as a jasmine green should be. I was disappointed in the Thai style rolled ice cream. The Mango Madness advertises real fruit but all they used was mango syrup/ purée out of a squeeze bottle. For over $6, they could've used a couple of chunks of mango. Flavor-wise, the mango flavor was too subtle to be called Mango Madness. The presentation was also underwhelming. Have had better constructed creations at Mr. Cool's in Apex. I didn't try the Monkey Madness one so can't vouch for that. read more

Wooooooow! This place is great! The bubble tea is expensive ($5+), but it is certainly the best in the Triangle! They use really high quality tea to steep their tea (e.g. rolled jasmine green tea), and it certainly shows in the taste. There is a strong jasmine scent in their green tea, and it's not overly sweet like other bubble teas either. It was so great that I was inspired to try to emulate it - so close to the taste, but not quite there! The ice cream is also awesome. I've seen anti-griddle/rolled ice cream in NJ/NY area, but this is the first one I've seen in the Triangle area. It's really amusing to watch the ice cream liquid and UNLIMITED toppings being made on the anti-griddle, and the taste is great too. On the other hand, it's a little hard to eat the rolled ice cream since it tends to stick everywhere. Worth the effort though, I think. I had the matcha strawberry mix, and it was amazing.
