I stood amongst 10 tweens with their parents "checking in" while I waited for my order. It looks like the local parents use this spot as a free babysitting service. Surprising for a weeknight at 8 pm. Can only imagine the scene in warmer months or on weekends. The employee saw me stand there the entire time as it was not busy. The bulk of the customers ordered the dragon balls which are essentially just brightly colored cereal in a plastic cup for $6. Smart marketing. After seeing every person receive their order. Including many who came in after me, I finally said something. I was told that my ticket "never printed" waited a bit longer for my order. Now 20 minutes total for one scoop of ice cream with no line and three employees. It just wasn't worth it to me. By the time I received my order my friend's ice cream was a melted cup of soup. The amount of coffee grounds added to her order made for a very unpleasant texture and taste. Came to Fairfield to visit a friend, but I'm staying for the Milkcraft! Came in with no expectations and was blown away by the ice cream they are pumping out - literally to droves of newly converted locals. The ice cream is delicious, creamy and smooth, no ice crystals here. It has a distinct feel from most other places, who sell Ice cream from tubs. It tastes more wholesome and artisanal. The nitrogen process is super cool too! I highly recommend for anyone who is trying to branch out from the lackluster ice creams of the Baskin Robbins variety. Also make sure you try the bubble cones, they are absurdly tasty on their own. Milkcraft definitely won't disappoint! Bring friends! They'll thank you. read more

Just ok. I wouldn't take issue with the little things if they didn't charge obscene amounts for their ice cream. I got one scoop on their signature bubble cone (the best part about the entire overrated experience) with whipped cream and it was $10.05. When I asked for a cup of water they said "no we only sell bottled water." Beyond it being illegal not offer free tap water, what really got me was that they were going to charge me $3 for it. Completely ridiculous. Ice cream was good, definitely some unique flavors. But let's continue with the cons... The music was louder than Abercrombie, the spoons were taster sized for no reason (which doesn't help when you're trying to eat the bottom of the hard to reach bubble cone) and the ice cream gets EVERYWHERE when you order a bubble cone. I came to MilkCraft on a Thursday night around 7:10 and it was pretty easy to find in Fairfield (I'm familiar with Fairfield), but it might not be so easy to find for new comers. Immediately, I saw the decoration and admired the stringed lights on the patio and the "loud" pop music played on the speakers outside and inside of the shoppe. To my surprise, there was a line out the door, but it wasn't too bad. We got into the shoppe probably 7 minutes after arriving and waiting in line. It smells absolutely DELICIOUS when you walk in. And what makes it even better, is that MilkCraft makes it easy to order step-by-step. Pick a cone (the famous bubble cone), and choose your choice of ice cream and viola, you are given creamy perfection. I came to MilkCraft with my boyfriend and two bubble cone ice creams costed about $14.00. Not bad. As we were waiting for our ice cream, we got to witness the assembly line of the process of making our ice cream! It's actually so interesting to watch because they use liquid nitrogen to freeze their milk products. Definitely fun for kids. As we were waiting, we had the privilege of speaking with a young male employee named Colby. His customer service is wonderful! Great enthusiasm and spirit. A few down falls about MilkCraft: - I wish that the orders were completed before moving onto the next. For example, my boyfriend received his ice cream 3 minutes after we ordered. And we expected mine to be next, but unfortunately, it took my ice cream about 10 minutes to be completed (it was not an in depth ice cream, very simplistic to make). As we waited for my ice cream to be finished, other orders were being called and I thought they forgot about mine! I actually had to ask to see if they were going to make it. But rest assured, it was worth the wait. The quality of ice cream is amazing. Creamy and sweet. - Some of the staff seemed a little tired, but I really can't blame them. They have been open for only 3 weeks and it's constant lines out the door. An 8 hour shift must be exhausting. Other than those two issues (if you want to call them) MilkCraft was a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend to friends and family. The best part about my visit was actually really unexpected. One ice cream cone was made that no one claimed. All of a sudden, a great girl named Ame announced that anyone can have this ice cream for FREE! So I jumped right on top of that. I wanted to try this ice cream after seeing the numerous posts on social media. I'm not a big foodie or even an ice cream guy. The only reason I endured the 45 minute wait was because my fiancé was insistent on it. Indignantly, I waited , repeating to myself 'this ice cream better blow my balls off'. It did. It's the best ice cream I've ever had. That being said, I probably won't go back. The wait just isn't worth it to me. If it slows down I might go back at a later date but, for me, ice cream falls into the pizza and sex category. Even when it's only decent, it's still pretty amazing. The other thing I noticed is that the wait time isn't completely due to the high volume, it's the amount of time it takes for them to prepare the ice cream. Once I got to the register, it was still a 10 minute wait to get my ice cream. I'm just hard pressed to wait that long for ice cream. That, and the fact that we ordered, in total, 4 scoops of ice cream and 2 bubble cones, and the bill was $30. Very hyped, but also very good and interesting flavors. You definitely pay for the experience, but the fresh warm bubble waffle cone is undeniably worth it and they give you a lot of ice cream. I would even suggest sharing the waffle size as it is so huge. I ordered the strawberry balsamic, which was a great twist on a strawberry ice cream. The acidity of the balsamic really cut through the ice cream while complimenting it with its sweetness. Warm Sunday afternoon and a 20 minute wait - No Cups were available so we were forced to get the bubble waffle cone. OK, not a big problem. However.... no spoons. And we were not informed of this until we were handed our $20+ cones. A drippy mess resulting in my eating my expensive ice cream with my pocket knife. My wife tried the "push pop" approach which did not work at all. We ended up throwing out over half of our order, but only after the melted ice cream had dripped out the bottom of the paper cone onto pants and shoes. We were fortunate to have some water in the car to clean up before leaving, because there is no rest room or water at milkcraft. For ice cream, this is on the pricey side. The waffle is pretty good. To my taste, this ice cream is too sweet and the novelty of getting the ice cream made in front of you is really only exciting once. Also I thought that it was the kind of thing where you can customize what's in the ice cream since they make it for you, but its just that the pre-made ice cream base is churned with liquid nitrogen while you wait. We went to Milkcraft as we had heard positive things about it from multiple people. After standing in what appeared to be the line for 10 minutes we were told by a staff member that the line was around the corner and that a customer said we jumped the line. No where was there any indication the line was around the corner. The line in question appeared to be for the noodle shop. I think this was poorly handled and we do not plan to come back here as we did not feel like a customer. An appropriate thing would have been to tell us that the line is actually over there so we knew for the future. Might I also suggest some kind of appropriate signage to indicate the line is for Milkcraft. I'm sure your ice cream is excellent though we will never know. read more

Really wanted to love this place but it didn't live up to the expectations. My daughter and I got the Smores bubble cone and we added Nutella. The ice cream is excellent but the bubble cone was too thick and soggy - the heaviness of the cone took away from the ice cream and the cone didn't have much flavor - tasted like boxed waffle mix. The ice cream comes with a large toasted marshmallow which wasn't gooey - just a regular marshmallow with a charred outside. The cone was dusted with graham cracker flakes, not enough to really taste the graham cracker. The good news: we didn't have to wait 45 minutes or more in line. The bad news is that I paid $23 for two cones. Finally, the only spoons they give you are small wooden spoons. For the price a regular-sized plastic soon would have been nice. Been there, done that, probably won't be back even though the ice cream was good. read more

Both of mine, one bubble cone and one scoop came up to be $12/$13 total. Love the lemon taste with the earthy olive oil. Don't care for the hand made whipped cream. I stopped here because of the promise of ice cream that's gluten-free-but when I stepped in the door and saw the waffle iron and dripping batter I had serious doubts. Not to worry. As soon as I mentioned my allergy, I was handed over to a manager who not only changed gloves but went in the back to get a fresh scoop and mixing wand for the mixer instead of just rinsing one from the sink. I went with plain strawberry just to cut back on risk. I do have one piece of advice for anyone who goes to Milkcraft.
