This is a frequent stop for me for a productive morning and a good cup of coffee. Interior here is great! A lot of spaces for working, with a lot of good conversations happening in the background to provide some filler white noise, if that's your cup of tea. Also not too loud in case you want to throw on some noise cancelling headphones and lock in. Service is fast! I usually order the drip and a sweet waffle, but twoday I went savory with a BEC, and it was awesome! Wanting to get a "taste" of Philly before we hopped on our train to NYC from the 30th Street Train Station, I looked to my fellow yelpers who guided me here. Upon ordering the Berry Bomb waffle, I was told that they were out of blueberries but could substitute with strawberries. Instead I went with the Monte Cristo. My hubby got the Beginegg N Cheese. As mentioned, our order was "to go" so it was boxed and bagged perfectly along with our large coffees. Once at the train station (just a few blocks away within walking distance), we found a quiet corner to savor our choices. My hubby was a bit disappointed with his but I was happy. The wait was quick for the matcha and chai latte in take-away cups while the waffles took a bit longer (~15 minutes), which we were warned about when ordering. The timing is something to keep in mind in case you planned to grab a quick bite. The drinks were fairly standard and we enjoyed them since they were the perfect sweetness. The latte art on top was also a great aesthetic touch! Overall, we felt the waffles were of good value and size. Personally, I thought the waffles could've been softer but if you enjoy a crispier waffle, they are of a perfect texture for you! I tried the (savory) Lonsa waffle which was delicious! There's definitely still a hint of sweetness with the waffle itself being sweet. (Just so you know they stop serving waffles at 2p!) Great ambiance, crazy busy with students on the weekend, some studying and others just hanging out I got an almond croissant that disappeared very fast despite its size and my friends said their hot chocolate was very good, although it took some time to be served. Im not usually picky about my cold brew but the amount of tiny ice cubes in it really watered it down. If it had been a concentrate then that might have worked in its favore but for the most part it was way to watery for me. That being said, the wifi was great and it has a good atmosphere and staff. This place has become one of my favorite coffee places in the area. I first learned of it by attending their sister store via the TooGoodToGo app. The coffee is quality, it is local, and they offer a variety of quality options with some authentic specials that don't just feel like they are "there" to me. What they do, they do it well. Fair pricing for the quality. For Sunday mornings, they need a minimum of two staff but could probably do with 3. But the space is kind of small for 3. Probably expensive to expand but I feel this business model is likely to grow eventually. This place is "happenin" with a small but nice cozy space. I can't believe I paid $11 for a little waffle, and I can't believe I am willing to do it again. The angry waffle was delicious. I asked for my sauce on the side cause I wasn't sure if I would like it. I thought the dish by itself was rich in flavor, the sauce was just a bonus! Honestly I'll start off by saying I really liked the coffee and the liege waffle I ordered. There aren't many places to get waffles like this so I really appreciated it. It was really crowded inside and there's basically nowhere to sit if you come at a busy time. All that being said, my partner and I had a horrible strange experience with the service here. When our drink came out my partner grabbed a straw for me and then the barista who made our drink mumbled fuck them turtles right? And we were like ??? I work right down the street from Top Hat and when I'm craving a crafted beverage: its SUCH a good choice. It recently had a Vanilla Nitro Cold Brew on special that was just the perfect blend of sweetness, smooth Nitro, and crispness. I would drink iced coffee any day of the week, and I would drink this one in particular every day. I've had the ballsy goat waffle on other trips and its the perfect blend of sweet and savory: balsamic reduction, goat cheese, strawberries: it sounds unusual but its honestly just the right balance. I really want to try more of their items. I will note: they are not cheap. But I think the quality and attention to detail is worth it. read more

I eat, sleep, and breathe here. I don't know how I haven't written this review sooner. As a penn student nearby I'm here every weekend and this place checks a lot of boxes for me : outlets, lots of seating, wifi, bathroom, water refill, some natural sunlight, food & drinks, etc. The only food they offer are baked goods and waffles so enough to hold you over while studying. The smoothies are good but not great. It ends up separating sometimes and its not super smooth but I still enjoy them. read more

Came here on a Sunday to get some work done and was very impressed with this cute coffee shop! Ended up getting a piña colada smoothie which ended up being one of the best decisions I made. I will say tables space was a little limited, although there was a long table that could be easily shared by many, but I was able to find a table early in the morning and most guests who came were able to do so as well. Their set up was amazing; it was down to every detail that made you forget you weren't at your local coffee shop getting your caffeine fix! They even had a printed menu to let you know what kind of drinks you could order and all the different flavored syrups they had on hand (including sugar free options). They were definitely a hit; the line literally never went down! Our barista was making 2 orders at a time and making it look effortless. I ended up ordering a cafe mocha and it was great.
