Every property has its own unique challenges, and not all property management companies are equipped to handle them. I learned that firsthand when I moved into a community facing serious financial issues and millions of dollars in deferred maintenance. The situation had become so severe that the city was involved. We are first time owners of our condo. When we purchased our condo, the first management company was not friendly or helpful at all. The second company literally let our complex fall into disarray and complete mismanagement. The moment Johanna and Shannon (Millenium) took over, we immediately saw their impact for the better. Our roof was leaking and falling apart and they quickly got it patched and initiated the re-roofing process. Having served on the HOA Board of my association for 4 years, I can attest that it takes dedicated board members working closely with the property management company and their representatives. During my time on the Board, we were able to identify and complete several projects for our association. This was done through diligent review, discussion, and taking a realistic approach taking account our finances and environment. It's easy to assume every issue falls on either the Board or the management company, but lasting results require a strong partnership, an engaged Board, and sound decisions within the CC&Rs and budget. Over the past several years, our management company has helped the Board complete significant projects, including repainting the entire community, recoating decks, major street rehabilitation and restriping, replacing and replastering both pools and spas, utility door replacement, ongoing wood repairs and replacement, tree reforestation, and annual jetting of the community drain system. They have also supported the Board in addressing homeowner compliance issues. Responsive communication/ a more customer-focused approach when interacting with homeowners is an area of opportunity. We have lived in a HOA community for the past 25 years and have gone through several property management companies. Our HOA board recently hired Millennium Community Management to become our new management company. As soon as they took over they contacted the homeowners with information about their company and the services they provide. They also sent out a notification of the people who would be involved with our association with names, phone numbers and email addresses. What really impressed me was we had just had our July HOA meeting and our manager sent out a letter to the homeowners with a pretty detailed minutes of the meeting. In my 25 years of living here I have never experienced a management company providing this kind of service and information to us. MCM is our community management in Aliso Viejo and they are subpar. I have to consistently follow up with Johanna Melendez to get a response. I understand they might manage quite a few properties, but to go a week without responding or giving an update is frustrating. Maybe they need to hire more staff or have better management skills. Shannon Thornhill is the best HOA manager I have ever worked with. I have been managing my dads 5 investment properties for 14 years and in that time I have interacted with many HOA managers. And none like Shannon. She treats people the way she wants to be treated, with respect. Also, she responds quickly to emails/voicemails and that is unheard of in this industry! I want to start off saying that we are homeowners in Palm Springs and this is our management company for our HOA. Yes we are NOT RENTING we ARE HOMEOWNERS. Two pools in the complex is part of the reason we live here Please see my attached picture from Palm Springs City Council. It clearly states that private pools with HOA'S & apartments can be open. Millenium Community Management is violating this by changing the locks and keeping our pools closed. They are LYING to us and our neighbors here (PALERMO, PALM SPRINGS). It is over 107f we have a right to use a pool, especially when over 50% houses are 2nd homer's. That leaves maybe 20 houses to use two pools (maybe less). In 2023, our Association was assigned three different MCM property managers, which isn't reasonable for continuity and effectiveness. At one point, Kim Hansele, the owner, assumed the role as our property manager. She NEVER once returned our phone calls and NEVER answered correspondence. The newly assigned property manager does NOT communicate either. I find her to be rude and unhelpful. I have only called about very minor things - such as my gate code not working and now about being able to pick up the transponder. My and my landlord have already emailed the lease agreement, he emailed his authorization for me to pick up the transponder. What else is needed? I called to find out the status of the transponder request and Maria practically hung up on me and then Sandra said, " I have to go because it is lunch time". Good service is hard to find it seems. We worked with Oana Mitchell in May, 2012. She was difficult to deal with and acted like we were asking for unreasonable service. Here's what I remember: They were sending mail to us (about requiring our trees be trimmed) to the wrong address even though in 2011 we had changed our contact info (address & phone) and we were getting the HOA bills. They didn't call us. They finally sent a certified mail threatening some kind of legal action. They want to charge us $70 for a copy of the CC&R's. This made us upset. We inherited the condo, so these documents were not provided through escrow as normal protocol. They finally understood that and begrudgingly agreed to provide the document. But now, after like 15 emails back and forth, they still have NOT provided a copy of the CC&R's. We pay $350 per month for our condo in Brea Somerset, and would expect better customer service. They work for us after all. They should consider posting the CC&R'S on a password login section of their web site. This would allow for the latest version to be readily available, searchable, and even save paper. Come on folks, it's the 21st century. We can do better. read more

I've owned 2 buildings in a community managed by this company for over 10 years. The Reps are unresponsive to me as an owner, they do very little management work. The previous manager was consistently late to every meeting. For 90% of the meetings everyone was waiting for the rep to arrive. The Reps offer no real guidance to the association. The only reason the board continues to work with this company is probably so they can control everything that happens without being advised against their decisions. That structure creates liability for the homeowners and the association. It's very frustrating to have investment properties in a community with such poor management. read more

As a tenant of a business office building managed by this company, I confirm the previous Yelp commenter's experience. If you are considering this company to manage your building and you desire a good relationship with your clients, aka tenants, I suggest moving on tho another provider. Our experience working with this company started when we leased an office from a director owner of one of the units. The owner's manager did not have bathroom keys for the building. In our attempts to secure the keys from the management company they ignored us. Then when we did some detective work to find out how to buy signs to match the building's decor and contacted the sign company, the management company paid attention. At that point they wanted to enforce the $85 per hour fees to put the sign on the door, a process that includes sticking the plastic sign on with double stick tape. We knew the process due to the remnants of double sided tape left from the last sign. This is just part of the building's process and regulations you may think. However, as the previous poster mentioned, it is the complete disregard for customer service that really upset me. The manager believed she was doing us a "favor" to bring us bathroom keys. The manager was rude on emails and claimed we were not her client. While we did not choose to hire Millenium and are forced to work with this company, we are her client. We pay the rent for the space and from those rents the owner pays their fee. Our lease will be coming for renewal soon. I am seriously thinking of looking elsewhere as many office spaces are available these days. Again, if you would like to have an office building with paying business clients I suggest you might want to find a management company that understands the value of customer service and treats your clients as you would. They also are not providing or posting association meeting minutes or budgets to homeowners. They seem to be complicit to the mismanagement of the association. Worst service ever! I have been working with Oana Mitchell and she is just plain rude. I am new to Summerset Brea and have found her to be less than accomodating. I needed to get information that is NOT addressed in the CC&Rs. But her biggest concern was that everything is addressed in the CC&Rs, which is not true. There are exceptions to everything and this is one. She was very rude in her emails. So sorry to bother her, but I am new and have not made the association meeting yet and there are things in everyone's lives that can't wait until a once a month meeting. I would not know a board member if I ran into them. Oana, as it seems to me, she should not be working in her position and her position is not needed. read more

Without exaggeration I have dealt with over 50 different property managers over the last 3 years. Re Tim T's comment about an $85/hour charge for sticking a name plate w/double-sided tape on a door, this Nazi-esque group of greedy control freaks charge a whopping $1,000 to new homebuyers to their communities for simply providing the state-law mandated copy of the community CC&Rs!!! Talk about extortion: if the homeowner refuses to pay it, they don't close escrow. It takes about 10 minutes to print out, and costs about $5 in copy paper. My condo is under Millennium Community Management. The builder put in faulty pipes and my condo had several leaks. MCM went to bat for us and sued the builder to get our piping redone. Not only that went the water leaks ruined my wood flooring they worked to get my flooring replaced. No hassles only solid support from the Manager, Kim. If I have any issues they are a phone call or email away. We had another management company and they were awful. I am thrilled with the quick response and support we all receive from MCM.
