Millers Pub is a famous and popular restaurant/bar that I visited for lunch last weekend. I know it's popular because a couple of nights earlier I went inside and it was slammed on a weeknight. On the day of my visit it was 3 pm when I arrived and it was almost full but I was seated quickly. Inside it's decorated with a lot of old wood and many photographs of previous diners usually celebrities. Evidently this has been a hangout of famous people for a long time. It seems that when they are in Chicago they eventually come here. The restaurant has a lot of nostalgic charm and ambience. I ordered one of their specialities the chicken pot pie for $18 and added a side salad (not on the menu) for $5 more. The salad arrived first and it was good. I'm glad I ordered it and it was well worth the cost. The chicken pot pie was even better. The beautiful golden crust was delicious with the well stocked pot pie of chicken chunks, peas, carrots all in a tasty thick broth. Exactly what a good chicken pot pie should be. At this point I was pretty full but let my waitress, Vicky, talk me into some dessert. Eating lunch this late in the day, I figured I was going to skip dinner so I went with the apple pie a la mode for about $10. I thought it was going to be a slice of pie with a scoop of I cream on top. It turned out to be a very large slice of apple pie drizzled in caramel with a generous dollop of whipped cream on a plate with another bowl of ice cream with more caramel drizzled over it. Yes it was a huge dessert and yes it was very good but I could only finish half of it. Vicky, a long time waitress there, took very good care of me. If I return to Chicago, I will most likely come back here. Millers Pub has oodles of character and is a cool place to hang out and enjoy a meal. read more

Got the burger here and it didn't disappoint - juicy, good char, cooked how i asked. Fries were crispy and salty just right. Cocktails strong, bartenders know what they're doing. It's not fancy-fine dining, but this hits the spot after a long day. read more

Sports Bar / American Wow, what a great find in the windy city! I had the opportunity to be in Chicago for a trade show and was staying right up the street - but I was a bit burnt out from talking business and looking for a place just to kick back and unwind that was not going to be full of trade show peeps- Miller's delivered exactly what I needed. Apparently a landmark that has been around since the 1930's, this is an old-school vibe in an otherwise chain-restaurant world. Big, dark, full of locals and stained glass - this place just hit right the minute I stepped inside. Got there around 3:30 in the afternoon and the bar was already filling up. Grabbed two spots at the end and the bartender got us situated in short order. The bartenders here are old school- fun to chat with, know their locals and how to keep the place humming. We grabbed some cocktails and appetizers and got the festivities started. The place is old and it just gives you that neighborhood feel even though it is in the city. As mentioned, a lot of regulars come shuffling through which is always a good sign in my book. Menu had a lot of options and the apps (Calamari, pastrami sandwich and onion rings) were fine enough that we ended up just staying for dinner. Chicken pot pie and a burger finished the night. By the end of the night, we had made new friends and filled our hungry stomachs - all in all a very good night out and a fabulous find. Bathrooms were clean and well lit- maybe too well lit as it was a huge difference from the restaurant area to the mens room - like walking on to the sun haha. Late night and need food after everything else is closing on Michigan Ave? Come here... Loved the bar...feels good, rich in history and a good mix of patrons. Thanks to Metallica, this place was crowded. Max and I chose this place as we were taking my college friend out to dinner. Val has lived in Chicago for 30 years and I was happy that this was a first for all of us. The Prime Rib dinner is the real McCoy. The cheese curds were a nice treat as I'm always on the hunt for the best. I would describe the inside as being lush and reminiscent of a mob hangout that was taken over by urban hipsters. The wait staff was super friendly and wasn't in a rush to push us out due to others waiting for a table. Everything that I had was delicious! The crispy fried haddock was breaded perfectly. They used panko and you could tell. It was crunchy, flaky, and airy! Yum The Italian sausage with peppers and onion was flavorful with a hint of spice. I could've had two orders of that! Clam chowder was creamy and delicious. Love those bits of Potatoes, it wasn't gritty, or too fishy. Finally, we had a full rack and The ribs were tenderrrr too. Honestly, my favorite thing about this place was the rich history. I loved this bar! We were walking back from Chriskindl market and walked into this pub sponatenously. They have fun christmas themed drinks and food menu is full of great bar food! It was buzzing inside with lots of happy people and the music was great- overall really great vibes. For food we got the fried calamari which was standard but still very good, not overcooked and rubbery, and the cocktail sauce was well balanced and not too acidic. We also got the french dip which was huge and i loved the au jus here. overall, really solid bar. I'll definitely be returning for food and drinks! read more

We really loved our experience dining here for dinner! We ordered the wings to start which were a larger order than we expected but very good - we finished them all! For our entrees my husband got the ribs with coleslaw, corn and the amaretto carrots and o had a salmon dish that was in special with a dill sauce and rice and asparagus as the sides. Everything was so delicious but the amaretto carrots my husband ordered were my favorite side I tried! This was probably one of the best meals we had in the downtown area during our visit to Chicago, it was a pretty cool setting inside, and the service was great too! Classic Chicago at least for me. I have fond memories of Millers from its days on Adams. Stopped in for dinner yesterday evening and was not disappointed. Holiday rush in full swing. I used to go to millers pub with my mother before the symphony. You would get a basket of rolls and either soup or salad came with the entree. Instead now overpriced salty meatloaf, small portion, no rolls, no side salad and took forever to get our food. Very nice waitress but so so disappointing I will never return. By the way all the prices are wrong on this yelp site for their menu. Much higher than printed. Must be an old menu. I would take back the old style restaurant before the remodel for less expensive, better quality and salad and rolls!!!! read more

Popped in here super late with a group of friends after Lollapalooza and had to wait about 35 minutes to get seated. Our server was a super chill gentleman who also told me where they source their ketchup from (it was the best ketchup I have ever had). What we got: fish n chips (???/5) -- Friends ordered this, not sure what they thought turkey with mashed potatoes n gravy (5/5) -- Another friend ordered this and devoured it, so I'm assuming it was delicious turkey club (4/5) -- Good portions for what we paid for, a bit difficult to eat but the sandwich was filled with bacon, turkey, lettuce, tomato. The fries that come with it are also solid ...and can't forget about the ketchup once again fried cheese curds (4/5) -- crispy, salty, gooey, creamy bites of goodness that were well worth all the pain for my lactose intolerant body. First time here while visiting from out of town. This place was not too far of a walk from our hotel and has been around since 1935. Our server was super nice! The food was pretty good too. The menu features meat and seafood with a good variety of salads and handhelds. I got the BBQ pork sandwich that had nice flavor. The fries were Ok. The environment was beautifully decorated for Christmas but felt as if the food was mid. Right as we walked in the hostess seemed irritated and made us feel unwelcome. Pros: - I was imagining a bar that serves food, but this is an actual restaurant with comfy seating, clean environment, and lots of TVs (perfect for Monday night football!) - Very friendly service. From the photos, the fish and chips didn't look like a lot of food but the fish is pretty thick and hefty. The ribs come with corn, salad, and a side. They also give you a bread for the table. - The mashed potatoes and gravy were so good! Cons: - The food overall wasn't mind blowing. Was visiting town staying at The Palmer House hotel and decided to walk over to Miller's. There was a 15 minute wait but boy was it worth it! We enjoyed the onion rings with BBQ ranch, the B-L-A-T (BLT with avocado), and the famous chicken pot pie (DELICIOUS-must try!!). Our waitress, Lana, was phenomenal. She let us know right off the rip that they were running low on chicken pot pies, and offered to run back and put one on hold for us so we could thoroughly enjoy our appetizer and still be able to have what we wanted for our entrées. She was very personable and running her butt off! She is a hard worker and it shows. It's a low-lit homey vibe with artwork adorning the walls. There is a bar to grab a drink while you wait. We came tonight for dinner. It was our ten year anniversary - and had debated many of the fine dining restaurants in this area. But ultimately we landed on this spot because it was closer to our hotel (Palmer House Hilton) and didn't require we get dressed up (visiting from out of town and wanted to be judicious with packing). I was a little concerned about our decision - but as it turns out I had absolutely zero reason to be. Service: we were sat quickly. Annabelle was our server. Wow!! What a gem she was! She was the perfect balance of engaging without being intrusive. She answered all our questions and gave great guidance when we had questions about the menu. Waters were brought promptly - this seemed like it was something they did as a standard courtesy to guests. Cocktails followed quickly after. My husband's old fashioned was delicious, and my wine was perfect. Also worth noting is that I was concerned about the wine when ordering (didn't want something sweet) - and Annabelle offered to bring me a small taste before ordering. Food: we shared the sausage and pepper appetizer. It was delicious!! The sausage and peppers were served over a delicious au jus with two pieces of garlic toast. The flavor was spot on. For a meal we split the fish and chips. Annabelle brought us two extra plates without us even asking (great attention to detail!). The fish was a nice hearty piece of haddock - so you don't feel like it's being swallowed by all the breading. The fries were also very good. While it may seem like a small thing - I was also very happy with the sauces. The ranch was the "good ranch" - and the tartar sauce was great as well. While this may not be the fanciest place in the area - for me it was absolutely perfect. I also couldn't help but be amazed that everyone who worked there seemed genuinely happy. Next time we are in Chicago this will now be considered a "must go to" - which is saying a lot considering all the great food this city has to offer. read more

This old pub from 1935, being owned by the Gallio's family since 1950, is a must go to. It's old and wood warm. The bar probably hasn't changed since the beginning. Great service. Good food. The restaurant is large. The menu has a few Greek items. Drinks include a lot of Belgium beers and others, and specialty drinks. Hubs and I shared the ribs for two and a house salad. Ribs were plentiful and delicious with a plain sauce...not too sweet or spicy. Others had a good hamburger, and the pulled pork, ordered without the bun, was a lot of meat. French fries were crispy. We sat between the bar and the front doors, and people kept coming in. We did not have a reservation, and arrived around 5 p.m. and were seated right away. The place was busy. Was this the best burger I've ever had in my life? No. But I've been working in Chicago the past several weeks, and Miller's Pub was the first time I FELT the city of Chicago. The pub has been around since 1935. It's dimly lit and outfitted in dark wood, green, and red. I loved how they played yacht rock and 80s classics. It's the first time this New York girl didn't feel badly about the Midwest feel of the Windy City. The vibe is laid back. It's a little busy, but I only had to wait about 10 minutes around 4:30 PM. Quickly: my burger was fine. Not dry, but under-seasoned. Shoestring fries were standard. I had the daiquiri, which informed me I have been confused about what a daiquiri is my whole life (it's not the red and blue frozen things you see flaunted around). I found it tart and refreshing. I also had the Haitian Divorce, which was smoky and deep (don't ask me how a drink can be deep because I can't answer). The menu boasts steaks, ribs, sausage/peppers/onions, some Greek appetizers. They also have seafood--salmon, whitefish, catfish. They have multiple types of sandwiches (BLT, French dip, corned beef pastrami, club, meatball, and more). Specialties include chicken pot pie, liver with bacon & onions, fish and chips, and spanakopita dinner. While I really wanted a burger this day, I now wonder if the pot pie or fish n chips would have been the way to go. Service was helpful. While I had one server, many others helped me out--refilling my water, bussing my table, etc. I never felt rushed or neglected. Located on Wabash Avenue, there is plenty of nearby paid parking. A great American, Irish Pub in Chicago. From salads, to Cheese Curds, burgers, Corned Beef, Pastrami. They have a wide variety menu, something for everyone. I was feeling American, so I had to get a burger, it's my favorite meal. I love to try burgers everywhere I go. I got the BBQ burger, Applewood-Smoked Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Onion Strings and our World-Famous BBQ Sauce. Not much to say, but it had everything I love on it, burger fiend was happy. We just finished with the VERSE IMMERSIVE experience at Block 37 and it was nice weather to take a 10 minute walk.. So we decided to try Miller's Pub. Our server Matt was wonderful. We had the loaded baked potato soup. Excellent! I had a nice glass of maybe. I had the full slab of ribs. I barely ate half of it..sooooo good! Omg why didn't I visit millers pub before? My friend recommended this place as we all were hungry after catching a show at the CIBC theatre. This place is huge and has lots of seating. The ambience is a bit dated and at the same time, very eclectic. Our server was very friendly. He helped us select our apps and mains. We ordered the Mediterranean spread, spanakopita, artichoke dip and fried pita and some pasta on the side. The food and service were really good. We stayed at a hotel nearby and wandered into this restaurant, wow am I glad we did. We returned multiple times during our visit for a couple reasons, first was Kevin, the bartender extraordinaire. He doled out service perfection, paired with lively banter and remembered our names upon returning. We had lunch here, he had the meatball sub and has declared it the best ever. I had the open face meatloaf sandwich and requested a side of creamy horseradish...it was incredible. A classic Chicago restaurant that serves good food instantaneously, with many servers having been there for years. In the shadow of the El tracks on Wabash downtown, it has the dark charm of a well-rubbed oak railing. My favorite time to go is Fridays when London broil is on the menu. They make it just right at medium rare. It's a great spot for locals to enjoy and a worthwhile place for visitors to feel like they're locals. read more
