This restaurant is a must visit in Nags head, firstly for the views! We opted to sit outside and it was gorgeous. I would recommend maybe a fan to move the air a bit but great for a mild summer day. Started the meal with cheese curds. So good, you must get them! My mahi mahi was good, needed more seasoning but the mango salsa on top was great! Cooked perfectly. My husband said the tuna was good but also needed more seasoning. My lemon drop martini was great and strong! The girls enjoyed chicken tenders and fries. They also loved the views as well. My family and I came all the way from California to spend time with family in North Carolina, and we were really excited to try this restaurant while visiting the Outer Banks. Sadly, it ended up being one of the worst parts of our trip. The whole time we were there, we felt uncomfortable and like we were being treated differently than other customers. The way we were spoken to and treated made us feel judged instead of welcomed. It honestly felt like we were looked down on because of our race, our size, or both, and that's a terrible feeling to have when you're just trying to enjoy a meal with your family. They were also taking photos and laughing, No one should have to leave a restaurant feeling embarrassed or unwelcome. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience completely ruined it for us. I hope management takes this seriously because everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect, no matter who they are. Terrible customer service. read more

The food was so good. We had a combo of a crab cake (which was so good. Lump crab an no fillers and moist) scallops,and shrimp all broiled. The waterfront view was beautiful and rooms divided with half glass walls so you can enjoy views and reduced noise from diners. There were two in our party and told 20-30 minute wait for indoor seating but were seated in less than 10. Our waitress McKenzie was very friendly and pretty efficient except she forgot our she crab soup appetizer. I wanted to try it but it was just as well as we were stuffed after finishing the entree. Wow! This spot was a home run on all fronts. Starting with the food: The seafood was so fresh and tender. Ordered the fried oysters, broiled scallops, and the soft shell crabs. The batters on the crabs were super light and did not detract from the flavors of each individually. The batter on the friend oysters were a bit heavier but the oysters themselves were very fresh and cleaned so well. The scallops were perfectly broiled and buttered - I got a couple with sand and harder bits but the rest were cleaned perfectly. Each dish came with mashed potatoes, a zucchini based mixed vegetable side, and the portions for each type of seafood were generous. The sauvignon blanc wine was also smooth and paired well with the dishes. Also split a lemon mascarpone cake slice which was moist, bouncy, bursting with fresh lemon flavor, and layered with light layers of mascarpone icing. Delicious! Outside of the food, the venue itself is gorgeous. Right by the water and perfect for sunset. The dock is great for waiting with a drink in hand. Didn't have any issues with mosquitoes despite being on the sound side. The service was exceptionally kind and smooth. Our waitress, Cassie, was terrific! Very quick, sweet, and multitasking very efficiently. We were seated with at least 4 other parties in the room and she was bringing bills and menus while carrying drinks and entrees on a platter all at once. The young boys cleaning the tables too after parties left also were very thorough yet efficient. Parking wasn't too bad when we came but the lot was full when we left. We arrived around 7p on a Sunday, was told we would have upwards of an hour wait, but were seated in 25 minutes, so not too bad! Pricing for the amount of seafood on dishes was really fair. Beautiful views of the water from a comfortable air-conditioned dining room. We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday as a party of 2 and were seated right away. Our waitress was attentive, patient, and friendly. Our meal started off with hushpuppies, spinach and artichoke crab dip, and a coconut margarita. The margarita was delicious and strong. I enjoyed sipping on it while gazing out over the water. For our main course we had the mahi tacos and crab legs. The crab legs were cooked perfectly and the tacos were flavorful and filling. Although full, we wanted to try the homemade desserts and ordered the chocolate torte and key lime pie to go (both were delicious). Only thing we didn't like about our visit (which is in no way the restaurant's fault) was the very loud and obnoxious table beside us. Spectacular all around! As a OBX frequenter I am sad I didn't know about this place sooner! The beautiful location, amazing food, and over the top service make this place a need-to-try. Our waitress Carly was fun, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu! We tried the hush puppies and cheese curds for appetizers - both amazing (the hush puppies are obligatory fyi). My actual rating was going to be 4/5 but this was superseded by an amazing conversation with our server - Abby who was just amazing, Here is the summary of my review: 1. Ambiance 5/5: We visited this place in November which is supposed to be an off-season so there weren't many people here. We got a table with a gorgeous view. The place doesn't have anything fancy and is like a regular seaside shack but the view was amazing. 2) Service 7/5: The server Abby was amazing and catered to all our needs especially since I was looking for vegetarian food at a seafood restaurant. She also has some of the best deer hunting stories. 3) Food: 4/5 I don't remember much of the food that we had. I had roasted cauliflower which was the day's special which I liked. 4) Value for Money 4/5: This is not the cheapest place so check the prices before you go but for the view and the discussion we had with Abby, this was a delight. After driving down to Salvo, we decided to have a late lunch/early supper. Not many places open this time of year on the Outer Banks. Miller's Waterfront, open 11-9, was open. Walked straight in, and straight to a table. The restaurant has a waterfront feel without being too beachy. Server took our drink order and gave us ample time to check out the menu. We ordered fried shrimp and Po' boy sandwich. Our hush puppy basket (you have to order separately, $6 for a dozen) does not come with the meal) were hot and light tasting with a slight sweet taste. Fried shrimp was hot and lightly battered. Tasted very good but you have to dig for that last bite tucked in the end of the shell. Would not pull out on its own. . Po'boy with oysters was great. I requested small oysters and the cook did their best to grant the request. With lettuce, tomato dices, banana peppers, I topped with cocktail sauce and a little tartar sauce. We had not been back to Millers for about four years, for some reason. We decided to try it for lunch this time, having previously only been here for dinners. Despite a few less than stellar reviews lately, we had an excellent lunch. Ms T had a lunch serving of fried shrimp and they were delicious as always. They were large, fresh, plump, sweet and tender; fried just right with a light coating. I don't really know how they could be much better. I managed to steal a couple from the generous portion. I had fish tacos that were nicely done as well. They were grilled mahi that was moist and meaty and topped with plenty of shredded lettuce and some cilantro crema. They were also generous and the two filled me up. One of my past complaints has been slaw that is loaded with onion. They still do it, but it was not as bad as in the past and I was able to use a little on my tacos. Our server was excellent . All-in-all, we see no reason to change our opinion and will continue to patronize Miller's. read more

We lucked out with the noisy dining room, cause we asked for first available seats which ended up being the bar area hightops. Much less noise despite the foot traffic around the bar. We got the baked scallops loaded with crab and cheese, as well as Wahoo fish with excellent sides. I'd certainly go back for dinner, but would not insist on outdoor dining since you can already enjoy the pier and bar while waiting. read more

My family and I came in November to the Outer Banks. We expected Miller's to still be busy despite it being the low season. To our grateful surprise, Miller's was empty when we arrived. They just began serving dinner. Sunset occurs earlier these days. The sun set as our main courses were coming out. The scene out the back was a beautiful sight. I'm glad our hostess seated us by the windows. A stellar seafood experience makes Miller's worthy of my five stars. Our calamari appetizer was crisp. I haven't had good calamari since going abroad seven years ago. My Fried Flounder was served with a side of vegetables and a baked potato. Dad's Trawl Boat platter consisted of shrimp, scallops, and a crab cake. I'm happy Miller's had a selection of local beers to try. Not going to lie. We had high hopes, but they were dashed to bits. When we walked in, the place smelled like stale banquet food. The service was lackluster; our server seemed quite flighty. When our food came out, mashed potatoes were ice cold and solid. The "fresh" vegetables were ice cold. Two of us ordered flounder which was bland with broken hollandaise sauce. One of us ordered a steak mid-rare, not only were his sides ice cold, his steak was marked by the grill and raw to the point that even the serrated knife couldn't even cut it. The manager made sure it was recooked and we got the hot sides we were due, but their mashed potatoes had even less flavor than the fish. We were offered four free desserts which we accepted, but the server forgot to bring them to us, so we missed watching the sunset outside. Overall, I'd never go back again. read more

This was my family's last meal in the Outer Banks before heading back home and it was quite good! Solid food with really nice views (provided that the weather is cooperating). We came by for lunch on a very rainy and gloomy Sunday and got seated by a window with a lovely view of the sound. Since we didn't want to be overly stuffed for the drive home, the 3 of us shared a lobster roll and a po boy with blackened fish. I had been craving a lobster roll so that definitely hit the spot! The steamed shrimp were good and my wife really enjoyed her crab cakes. We also got the pork belly bites which were pretty good. The only area I saw that needed improvement is the outdoor waiting area behind the restaurant. The "patio" area out back is a rocky, grassy spot that is facing the sun and was extremely hot. The outdoor service was lacking not because of the server but the device she was using to put our drink and appetizers order in while we waited. The restaurant was packed for the 2-2-5 hours we were there so it's confusing to me that they don't do reservations. Especially for larger parties which there was plenty of those in the dining room. read more

But the hush puppies are to die for and the seafood is appropriately cooked. Great place for a good platter of local seafood, when you want to keep it simple and casual. The sides options are sure to accommodate every dietary need. I had the fisherman's platter and could not finish it. I left fully satisfied. I enjoyed good conversation at the bar, although it is very small. But most of OBX is set up to serve people that are not alone, so i am more than happy that I got lucky with the patrons that night.
