Ginger baker pizza: pepperoni, chilis, honey

My absolute favorite spot in Hancock! Their food is inventive, delicious and helps support other local businesses. I love their approach to food that is seasonal, fresh, locally sourced, and creatively pushes the edge of what Detroit style pizza can be. The specialize in Detroit style pizza: square, thick focaccia like crust, crispy cheesy edges, and great toppings. Each week they add a new special and I'm always intrigued to see what kind of funky things they come up with. I haven't had a bad one yet and they have had some genuinely surprising toppings like peaches on their pizzas! My go to is the Ginger Baker: a pizza with pepperoni, honey, and Calabrian chilis. A perfect sweet spicy combo! Everything is always really fresh and delicious. Keep in mind though that cooking a Detroit style is like cooking a deep dish pizza, it takes a while. So be prepared for a decent wait time. I wish it could be a little faster but I understand that fresh, individually made pizzas like this take time. Just be prepared! We also tried their chorizo fries which were very good. Super crispy despite lots of toppings. Lots of flavor. Can't wait to go back to try whatever is new on the menu next time I stop in!

The place: Walking in, I didn't know what to expect. Spousifer and I were desperate for some decadent salads, and the Google Machine told us this could be the place. Inside, it feels like a cross between a pub and a coffee shop. Lots of wood, comfy booth benches, and richly colored rugs. The location: 2 hour free parking out on the street in front. The food: Spectacular. Everything I hoped for and more. I got the autumn salad which had this lovely vinaigrette. The roasted butternut squash was perfect. HUGE portion and so easy to eat every bite. Spousifer got a chopped salad sans salami which was also delicious. The olives were great pops of acidity. Our friend got a patty melt with onion jam. As a vegetarian, I only sampled some of the onion jam which was gorgeous. The service: I greatly appreciated the rundown of how things work at Milly's. You go to the counter, grab a menu, and order at the counter. Food comes to the table. Our server was so kind and even grabbed some of our empty dishes mid-meal. Next time: I want to make sure I get dessert. The cookies looked delicious and I was so close to getting some.

Ok so not done eating yet but here's my thoughts so far! The blond at the register is super cute and bubbly personality which is helpful when you need good professional kind assistance with ordering. She was knowledgeable about their product. Seasoned well but bit spicy but ok with me sooo, Good take out so must better fresh done. Clean place and good vibe inside. We will be back for the deep dish which I hear is the bomb! Price reasonable for the times.

Unique pizza choices. Loved the variety and creativity of pizza and salads. The ginger baker pizza had cheese and sauce, lots of pepperoni and roasted peppers but also had Calabrian chili oil and honey. These items together was fabulous and like nothing I had before. The amount of pepperoni was huge with pepperoni in each bite! The P.C. Salad is fantastic and interesting with rainbow carrots, black currants and cumin vinaigrette ! Nice environment with outdoor patio seating. It probably isn't used much due to the cold weather but a cute and quiet area. Friendly and efficient service. Good prices too. The ice cream was very good, simple soft serve of chocolate or vanilla but great texture and flavor.

My husband and I were visting the area for our anniversary vacation. There was this huge Bridge…read moreFest parade going on that ended pretty late at about 9pm. Unfortunately, the roads were blocked off and closed. So we could not go to a number of restaurants reccomended to us. There were a few options open until 10, Nutini being one of them. We walked in and sat down at a table. There wrre a bunch of people near the bar having a great time. The music was faced towards us, so it was pretty loud in that spot. The waitress came over and stated that it was very loud. She asked if we wanted to move to a different area and walked us over to a seat. We got seated and she ran to get the drinks. The table was slanted, but the area was completely empty and quiet. When I asked her about items on the menu, she did not seem to know any information. I asked for caesar dressing, she told me she didn't think they had that, even though caesar salad was listed on the menu. She had to run back and ask about a few things, which was fine. My husband ordered the chimichanga and regretted it. It came out loaded with practically a whole salad covering it. Tons of lettuce and tomatoes on top. I had a salad that was loaded with dressing. I tried my best to eat it, and it was very salty. We only had a lunchable at 12pm so we were starving. My alfredo came put with some of it practically spilling out on the sides. I took one bite and it was loaded with garlic. It was so powerful, that it was hurting the back of my throat. I let the waitress know that I have a mild allergy when a lot of garlic is used. Usually, if there is a tiny minced amount it doesn't bother me. This pasta, was loaded with a lot of garlic and salt. I nicely asked told her that I could not eat it because of this. While we were waiting, they also forgot to bring out the beans and rice, and the bread with butter. We had to mention it and they said "I'm not sure if that comes with it." This is the worst part... in the photos there is a picture of a yellow hallway. Suddenly an old man walks around the corner and is loudly making fun of me. There was no one else in that room and no music. He looked at me as well. He said "ofcourse there is a lot of garlic its alfredo is she stupid or something, thats hilarious." I suddenly felt uneasy, and I tried to just ignore it. In the photo you can also see a small window area where food is picked up. Our waitress, who we haven't seen, only when I called her over, was standing there talking about us. We could hear the entire conversation because she was loudly telling them. She was saying "oh my gosh you didnt hear the whole ordeal, basically this chick orders the alfredo and didnt realize we put a lot of garlic when its alfredo" and they continued to just laugh at me and talk about it. Another waitress, the one that brought the food out in the first place, came to bring the bread. My husband asked for the bill and told her we no longer wanted to stay. This experience was so awful that I started crying. It ruined out anniversary dinner. I felt so embarrassed. She was nice enough to ask us what happened. She was trying to figure out what went wrong. We only saw our waitress when she moved us, and came to give drinks and take the order. While she was trying to talk to us, our waitress walked up to her. She started saying how she only charged us for the salad. The waitress trying to talk to her, kindly told her to walk away as it was making the situation worse. We asked for the bill, and she told us that it was covered and she did apologize. Even with the apology, it was such a horrible and awful experience that really dampered the evening. I was a crying mess, and we stopped at taco bell to eat.
