Was going to see a matinee movie at Lloyd Center and had time for breakfast beforehand. A quick search on Yelp showed Milo's had great reviews. We found free parking right out front. The bright dining room wasn't full so we chose a booth under the life sized llama. Staff was super friendly. I had two eggs, home fries and toast. My friend had the salmon omelette. Both solid good! The star of the show was definitely the housemaid strawberry jam. Really nice touch. I would definitely go back.

Can I give 4.5 stars? Eh, these things are so subjective. Anyway, let me just say that Milo's will definitely get put into my regular breakfast spot rotation, thanks to awesome servers, a warm and eclectic interior and, yea, the breakfast standards done right. OK, so the menu ain't exactly what you'd call experimental-- it holds most of your usual suspects, with lots of scrambles and Benedict's and a few salads and sandwiches to mix it up. It's all good comfort food and the Salmon Scramble I requested was spot on - fluffy eggs and loads of nice pink salmon chunks. The breakfast potatoes were excellent too, and the coffee was, ah, decent. Place is bigger inside than it looks from the street, with high ceilings, and tables scattered in the middle of the large room, and booths around the edges. It looks like Milo's is open to 2pm most days so I guess it's a breakfast/ lunch typa place, though our sassy waitress says there's dinner on weekends too - so who knows, call and check first. A warm, welcoming spot, and a Portland institution for a reason. Thumbs up!

Oyster Benedict with Avocado

My first time to Milo's. I had the Oyster Benedict. It came out promptly. I would have made some different plating choices and the eggs were a bit over. But what it may have lack d in finesse, it made up for with flavor. The potatoes were crisp and well seasoned. The oysters were plump, juicy and briny. But the star was the hollandaise. It was generous and it had the perfect punch of lemon, that helps lighten the rich sauce. The coffee was nice and the front of house staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive.

Milo's city cafe is locally owned and is super delicious. We met the owner and he is a delightful nice man. The omelette was delicious and would could back here for breakfast any day of the week. The jam for my English muffin is homemade just like all the food here. The Jam is a must try.... SUPER DELICIOUS. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Hot sauce homemade...his wife made it along with the jam... AMAZING Service was perfect, fast and efficient. Inside is super clean and super nice Highly recommend

Dungeness Crab Cake Benedict

Service is absolutely fabulous, and the crab cake Benedict was delicious! Decor is nothing to scream about but I love the wall of Milo. Main takeaway was that everything was a little more expensive than it needs to be, for example a side of dressing is $2, kind of crazy!

Blackstone Benedict

This place NEVER disappoints! The BEST eggs Benedict....or Blackstone (tomato & bacon)! Amazing staff, funny and personable!! Absolutely love coming here!

Let me say, It's a vibe fs! I love the decor at this cafe! The waitresses were very attentive and food got out at a decent time considering how busy it was. Staffs were very nice hyping up my fit & all. I got the Salmon Benedict, which came with crispy potatoes and a side of sliced pineapple. The Eggs Benedict and potatoes were perfect! In my opinion, the salmon was too salty for me, but the pineapple surprisingly balanced that out for me! All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely come again to try something new :)

Chilaquiles!

We have been going to Milo's for at least 20 (?) years, maybe longer. Milo's has been our breakfast restaurant for so long because the food, service and atmosphere are consistently excellent. Milo's offers so many tasty dishes , it's hard to decide. Try the Eggs Benedict , well worth it. I think Milo's is quite reasonable with their pricing. ENJOY!

Good morning!

A+ food, service, and experience! I woke up craving a cozy diner breakfast and a piping hot cup of diner coffee. Milo's delivered (not literally... We went there) and ticked all the boxes! You know it's a good spot when there's only one table available when you arrive and a line starts to form as you sip your coffee. We didn't get any morning libations, but the Bloody Mary looked and sounded insane. Why get any real food at all when you can get Milo's Bloody Mary and have like 1,000 toppers!? Ok, so they have the usual fare, but some fun takes... Like Hungarian Mushroom soup (so thick and creamy! Add a dash of Cholula hot sauce for a kick and to thin it out a bit if you need to), a Forest Omelette (which can be a scramble, if you want) stuffed with Cremini mushrooms and cheese, big fluffy Brioche French Toast, and the tastiest little biscuits! Seriously, more biscuits. Make them bigger. Sheet pan biscuits! I'm so sad I couldn't use all of my whipped honey butter because the biscuits are little

Braised Corned Beef & 2 Eggs

This place kind of reminds me of the cafe you would find in the lobby of a nice hotel. I'm annoyed in general by the QR code menu but I appreciate the descriptions and accurate pictures of theirs. I came right before closing. I know this is kind of not cool but they were very friendly and accommodating. I ended up getting the corned beef. Basically all of the components of a corned beef hash but not all put together. Fair amount of meat for the price. The potatoes were cooked well but under seasoned. The perfect bite with the peppers potatoes eggs and beef was pretty good. Not life changing or something I would intentionally drive across town for but tasty and satisfying. The biscuit was kind of disappointing. Looked like it was going to be a hit but very chewy and not very flaky. I'm not sure if I would intentionally come back but glad I gave it a try.

Great breakfast and service. I was hoping for some vegan options but for those who are not plant based, you will do just fine.

Would definitely rate this a strong 3.5/5 if that was possible!…read more The jojos were the star of the show for me (go figure) personally -- and the ranch was the star of the jojo show. I had a Spicy Vegetarian Burger and it was pretty good, next time I would probably try the Classic version. The pickles and sauce were good and the impossible patty was great. My sister thought her classic burger was solid, but she would have liked a little more sauce. Keep in mind that she likes a lottt of sauce. The bun was a little too big for her burger patty too, but overall it was tasty and all the flavors complemented each other. Ambiance-wise there was nice decor and plenty of seating options! The blinds kept out a lot of natural light but we were able to lift them a bit so it wasn't a problem! You clear your own plates and order when you arrive after you have looked over the menu so service doesn't feel super applicable but everyone was friendly and welcoming.

While they weren't as crispy as I would've wanted - I would say while some parts were, most of it was on the softer side - I did think that they were seasoned excellently. They also paired quite well with the mayo-based sauces we received. Moving onto the burger, I really enjoyed this. When I've had tofu on a burger in the past - it's usually been in smaller pieces - so getting such a massive piece that sticks out on either end of the burger was really nice. In addition, the breading was good - while not super-present. I quite liked the fact that it was very lightly breaded - meaning the huge patty was like 95% tofu - leaving the tofu to stand on its own as the majority of the bite. The buns were alright - I'm not big into vegan buns - but I didn't mind these The mustard sauce was also pretty good I will say, although I did order the Mr. Onion burger so I should've known what I was getting myself into, but there were just way too many onions on this burger. It was to the point where they absolutely dominated the taste of my first bite. I had to remove a lot of them from the bottom of the burger to actually make this edible. For the price, it is a bit expensive - but it's also quite filling so I didn't mind it. I also have to mention - because my burger was late, as a gift they brought out a full set of pastries/cookies in a box. This was incredibly surprising and something I've never seen another restaurant do. Major props for that

Mothers is a great place to eat downtown, but I'd recommend making reservations or at least calling ahead. They get busy! Service was very friendly and our server checked in on us an acceptable number of times. Everyone we interacted with was also friendly and warm. The food came out quickly, hot, and prepared correctly. All items were quite tasty. It's not exactly gourmet in terms of you taking a bite and thinking it's the best thing you've ever eaten, but it's solid. I really want to try dinner there. Ambience is busy and bustling. Really it's what you'd expect for a downtown diner. This is the kind of place I would take people to who are coming in from out of town and I'm not sure how adventurous they are (mom & pop from Ohio for example) We will definitely eat here again.

But when our server was with us, they were very nice and patient with my questions and requests. It's a bit loud when the place is on the full side, making it difficult to have a conversation. I wouldn't bring my girlfriend who is hard of hearing, at least with a group. I'd be curious to try more of the menu. I was very much not wowed by the breakfast. The beverages were however very nice, and I recently had the cobbler dessert and it looked amazing and tasted better. We had the coffee (Extracto, love.), I had a really good hef and my mother a very well balanced Bellini that I was very pleasantly surprised with trying. From what I saw, the lunch sounds very good and I'd be more apt to recommend folks give that a shot if they happened to be going there too. I'm not sure if I'd recommend as a must go stop. Vibe wise, the ambience is overall really nice. I think having rolled flatware, even with just upgraded napkins, would better complete the aesthetic you initially see and feel. This would also connect with the price point of the food and quality of the beverages. As a fellow server, on that note I would expect more consistent stronger visual appearance standards with servers. (Sorry guys! But some of you looked great!) Overall, I'd definitely join a friend for coffee and lunch over there in the future. Just wouldn't be my top pick for a celebratory brunch or intimate dinner with a date or friends and fam.
