Fish market: This market has a fish market at the end every sunday opening at 7am before the farmer's market opens. Cash only. They take ebt. Many local older seniors on limited budget shopping in line. According to the seller: Anchovy is the best tasting fish. 2 types of rockfish, not including the blue fleshed ling cod. One with a sharp mouth and more of a streamlined shape and one with a red pigment which makes it look like snapper. Seller says the snapper looking one tastes better but I found the opposite to be true when steamed with ginger and onion. No SS needed. Local pomfret for Indian tuna and bluefin tuna when in season. The tuna makes excellent sushi. They leave Wed to fish and return Sun morning directly to the market Legal with permits caught north of santa cruz. Easily the freshest and most reasonably priced freshly caught local fish in the bay area. Family run operation from 80s. Can see the degradation in the selection, size and amount of fish over the decades. Many independent boats have stopped fishing because of degraded fisheries. Salmon is no longer available directly from the boats in HMB, now mostly crab and black cod. read more

Visited around 11am this past Sunday, and they had Iimited offerings compared to other farmers' markets (such as Sunnyvale or Mountain View)... but from the few things we did get, the products and service were phenomenal. Yummy pastries and sandwiches (ie. jalapeno & cheese croissant) from Adorable French Bakery, coffee beverages from Buggy's Brew, oyster mushrooms and grapes from the veggie food stands, delicious filipino snacks (bbq pork, lumpia, and spring rolls) from Mekeni's Abe, and some tasty braised beef steamed buns from one of the other hot food stands. This is a small and simple farmers' market, just fruits, veggies, a few desserts and hot food stands, and several flower vendors. No decor, live music, or any kind of entertainment. And parking isn't easy in the Great Mall parking lot during the holidays, but that's expected. read more

It's tiny consisting of approximately 10-12 stalls but it's enough to get what you would need. Bring cash to make it faster & easy, I do admit that the stalls aren't as friendly and nice as other stalls in Sunnyvale or Mountain View. I've heard stall owners saying "ok only 1 - 2 samples per person" to elders who asked for a small taste. Weird but whatever works for them. Pricey like most Farmers Markets. But you go here for the fresh local vegetables, fresh local fish, and the small community vibe. (You don't really get the small community vibe here, but there is fresh produce!) A Farmers Market unlocks many other varieties of produce or fish that you must try. It's hard to explain which, but ask the sellers how they recommend prepping the stuff. It's fun talking to the merchants to ask where they're from, how they grow / catch their fish, haggle, etc. That's not something you get at a Safeway or Whole Foods or Trader Joe. Unfortunately this farmers market is on the tiny side, not a lot of variety beyond produce. I wish there were small artist stalls, meats, cheese, etc. Parking is a breeze since it's at Great Mall. Medium sized farmers market which is located at a sectioned off parking spot of Great Mall. Lively and eccentric. It's a little hectic since parking is at the Great Mall, so lots of cars and pedestrians weaving in and out in every direction. Plus the market is right next to a McDonalds so that adds more cars to watch out for. Pretty long line at the information booth, more than other farmer markets in the bay. But it goes by quick enough. Lots of Asian and regular fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Kettle cooked popcorn, Mediterranean, honey, dairy, flowers, plants, bakeries, variety of hot food vendors. Bought a honeycomb stick, king oyster mushrooms, daikon, super sweet melons, watercress and huge green onions. This farmers' market is small and has limited choices. The stands offer similar items. Nevertheless, I still appreciate it being there consistently on Sundays to offer fresh produce especially vegetables that you don't often see at the major grocery stores. Small but affordable farmer's market. It does feel like sometimes a visit can be a hit or miss depending on what stands are present and what fares they bring. There's a limited number of stands. Most of them boast a similar variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. There were also 2 seafood stands, 1 honey stand, and a handful of prepared food stands during the September weekend I went. Fruits: Peaches, grapes, tomatoes, pluots, plums, cantaloupe, watermelon, apples, strawberries, blackberries, etc Vegetables: Herbs galore (mint, basil, thai basil, etc), yam leaves, Asian veggies, eggplants, carrots, kale, cabbage, peppers, etc Many of the stone fruits are $2.50/lb or 5lbs for $10. There was an herb stand with 75¢ to $1 bunches and a 4 bunches for $3 deal. Fun market to get weekly groceries. It'd be nice if there were more variety available, but I'd still come back anyway for the price points. **NOTE: please select your produce carefully! One of the herb bunches I bought contained a LIVE hornet/wasp/idkitwasyellowwithwingsomg. That cost me a few hours of freaking out and trying to get it out of my kitchen. So I guess produce may be fresh from outside, but I hope they take more care not to bundle in live bugs like that! read more

I don't know if it is due to covid, but the options are not plentiful. What they do have, however, is wonderful and good quality. Not my favorite farmers' market in South Bay (mostly because next to the big mall it lose its charm for me, unlike the small town allure of a Mountain View or Sunnyvale market) but still pretty good! A farmer's market is already a luxury to have, especially because your contact with fruits and veggies becomes more...vivid! more tactile and less inundated by fluo lights from the grocery stores. The tomatoes look more real and some, deliciously ugly. I liked this marked for the variety of Asian veggies whose names I don't even know. I need to go many more times and ask questions to the sellers and get educated in a myriad of items I know nothing about. It would be a humbling experience. That is the part of this market I liked most, the fact you find 'other kind' of vegetables. If they would offer more flowers than orchids, then would be a 4 stars for me. I go sometimes this farmer's market, but I always disappointed whenever I bought in this market. I will never go back. Last Sunday I bought some yellow cherries and peaches and the boy was a cashier told me the wrong amount of total. This is not the first time. I remember this boy always call the wrong number. A nice little farmers market in the parking lot between McDonald's and Home Depot in the Great Mall neighborhood. This place is pretty spread out and not that busy during, which I do like. However, there are not that many vendor or organic items (like almond milk) or meats. This farmers market is not for the people who attend to listen to music, take pictures, and browse gourmet goods and artisanal breads. This farmers market is for the real home chefs who are looking for awesome ingredients to feed their families for the week. Make sure to go early (around 9am) before all of the options disappear! Many of the vendors have samples ready for you to try before you buy. The fruits aren't the cheapest I've seen, but they are high quality and fresh. The absolute steal at this market would be the vegetables and herbs. Please be really careful when you buy fish from this place...it had worms coming out of it. Produce is great though.

We are so lucky to live in California to be near where so much fresh produce is grown. Farmers markets are where local farmers can sell direct to consumer without the middle man. It benefits consumers with lower priced and fresh produce while it lets farmer get more money. The location is next to the McDonald's in the Great Mall. Which in my opinion is way better than the old location because of better parking. The selection is moderate compared to the larger markets like Saratoga or Mountain View but don't let that discourage you. My advice is to come early for the best selection and to avoid the crowds. I hope they can continue to grow the market and add more vendors. I'm so happy they were able to continue the Milpitas market after the previous locations shut down. read more

Milpitas farmers market moved from the Los Coches location to Great Mall. The collections of veggies and fruits are good. But more collection would be nice. I used to go to Irvington market and there were more vegetable varieties. I would like this to grow that big. With so many residential units close by it will make a nice walk on sunday morning. read more
