We've depended on the reliable services of Milton Mechanical for all of our homes HVAC needs for several years. Owner Ken Hughes is extremely knowledgeable and his crews get the job done right. We get Spring and Fall checks of our two systems which assures us we're ready for winter and summer weather. Recently our large old AC unit quit running and MM had a service crew here within a couple of hours. They replaced the coil and a condensate pump. Took a month just to get a job scheduled, and then when they did come out, they left the job half-done and never responded to my attempts to contact them. Four months later, they sent me a bill for the full amount of the job they never finished, with the bill dated as past due the day before they sent it. A sketchy company with sketchier billing practices. read more

Most people seem to use Yelp just to complain or reiterate a bad review on other platforms. I have used this company for approximately 5-6 years - a little bit after Ken took ownership - and I have had nothing but positive experiences. I have 3 properties with a total of 9 separate HVAC systems, and Milton Mechanical is the only company I call anymore. I've use them for repairs, replacements, and new installations. As a handyman, I hate calling anyone to fix anything on my house, but there are just some things that you need a professional for. Ken is a solid guy who cares about his customers, and that shows in the people he hires as technicians and managers. I trust them when I need help to not only get the job done, but to do it at a fair price. Good contractors that are honest, fair, and capable are hard to find. We highly recommend Milton Mechanical: they have installed both a furnace and an A/C unit for us. They are prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. Last night at about 10 p.m., we realized that the a/c was blowing hot air, so we called at 7:15 a.m. this morning. Yet another HVAC company I have to give up on. This is really tiresome. I'm an easy customer to please, and I give companies ample opportunity to fix any problems, as I did here. I'm going 2 stars instead of 1 because they did fix 2 of the 3 original problems. Unfortunately, they showed little interest in fixing the 3rd. So here's my experience with Milton. I needed am entirely new A/C system run - Air Handler, lines, and outside unit. I had 3 companies quote it, and Milton was in the middle price-wise, but I got a very good impression from Kyle, the guy who came out and gave me the quote. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and did a good job explaining things, so I chose them. The installers had some trouble with the installation and were at my house for about 12 hours, but in the end, the A/C worked, and worked well. But with 3 problems: 1. Sloppy installation job - it was installed in such a way that the door into the room the air handler is in could only be opened halfway (it's a full size, unfinished room in the basement). 2. They replaced my programmable thermostat with a non-programmable one without asking or informing me that's what they were installing. 3. The big one. The left a giant, unsealed hole in my wall where they ran the new lines outside. I didn't notice this for several days, and rats got into my house through it. I sealed the hole, called Kyle, and he came out the next day to look at problem 1, and set some rat traps and said he'd have someone come out and fix problems 1 and 2. Also informed me that one of the guys who did my installation had been fired for repeat problems like this. At this point, I'm happy - they seem like they're going to solve the problems. Flash forward 4 weeks. I haven't heard a peep from them. In the meantime, I've had a few sleepless nights with my dog barking at rat traps snapping. I call Kyle, and he has Jim, their GM, call me back. Jim informs me they were just waiting to get past their busy period before fixing my problems. And if they had communicated this about problems 1 and 2 up front, I would have been fine with it because they were annoying issues, but not huge. But they didn't. Reality is that I'm pretty sure if I'd never called back, I would never have heard from them again. So, they come out, and they fix problems 1 and 2, and Jim assures me they'll have an exterminator come out to finish dealing with the rat issue they created. This was on a Thursday - he told me he couldn't get anyone out on Fri, but I'd hear from them the next week to schedule it. This was months ago - ultimately, I dealt with the rat problem on my own and never heard from Milton again. Unfortunately for Milton, I'm about to buy a new house that will likely need a new A/C unit in the next few years. Guess who I won't be calling? read more

Wanted to give a shout-out to Milton Mechanical Services. They were responsive when we called about our A/C unit. The company we called before that came out the same day but I was warned ahead by other homeowners that if they tell you you need a new system and 'hey, we'll replace your furnace at the same time and save you money', RUN! Well that first company did exactly that. The estimate was $4400. Milton Mechanical came out and tested the system, twice. They did a 72 hour pressure test on the system. They diagnosed the problem and repaired it in a couple of hours. We didn't need a new furnace or a new A/C system. The savings was about $3000. They are honest, and I would not hesitate to call them for my future needs or to refer them to my friends and neighbors. read more

Our family had a great experience with Milton Mechanical Services. We were in need of two complete units, along with rerouting of some ductwork. (The house we bought in 2005 should never have passed the HVAC inspection but that's another story.) The first impression with Kyle was a positive one as he explained our situation to us in depth and with a definite degree of knowledge. We therefore felt comfortable in hiring Milton Mechanical and we are so glad that we did! The removal of the old units and the install of the new systems went extremely well. The entire crew was prompt, courteous, clean, and took great care in making sure that none of our walls or stairs were compromised in the process. From start to finish the experience was a great one, and we highly recommend their services. We went with a Trane system with AprilAire filtration, humidifier, and wifi thermostats and the difference in the quality of our indoor air is amazing! Herb, who installed our wifi units went out of his way to make sure that we understood how to operate the thermostats as well. Really nice group of contractors! They didn't leave until late in the evening to ensure that the new system was in perfect working order. Kyle came by the next day as well. Again, we had a really great experience with this company! Also....they answer calls courteously and return calls promptly. I didn't have that experience with several other HVAC companies, and this was another reason to hire them. I'm a Realtor, and have worked for a luxury local builder so I do have a lot of experience with home building industry subcontractors. Thankfully, this was a good experience for my family. read more

My tenants A/C unit stopped working so I called Milton Heating and Air based on their Valpak ad: "Local Milton Owners, Our Family To Your Family Service". I am not sure what they mean by that because when I called to make an appointment, Marty Littleton answered my call but took over 8 minutes just to take my address half way thru; I could hear a little girl and probably her mom talking so, when I asked if he was still there, Marty finally took the rest of my address . I did comment that it is not very professional to have the customer have to hear all that conversation and to my surprise, instead of an apology, Marty said to takes business somewhere else. This is the first time I am writing a review, never did before but I am in such a shock how unprofessional and rude this person is, I had to. So I have too units on my house one for the main floor and basement and the other for the upstairs. Well our upstairs unit was acting up so I called Milton Heating and Air to come take a look at it. Whoever I spoke to on the phone and explained my options for getting someone out to the house to take a look at it. Because I have units I did not elect for emergency service and moved to the downstairs bedroom for the evening. The technician arrived within minutes of when I was told he was going to arrive. He was friendly and professional. Also he was very patient and never showed any frustration despite my abundance of questions on what he was doing. If your having problems with your heating or air call these guys if they take care of you half as well as they did me, you'll never want to go anywhere else. read more

3 visits since dec 2011!! Everything good to go!! Now hv huge leak on my ceiling, cannot use AC ( in this heat) & tell me NOW I need 2 new systems. Supposed to hv had proposal 3 days ago 4 " necessary" new systems!! Rip off is what comes to mind!!" STILL. During the winter ice storm our heat was out. After getting the run around from another company (who ordered the wrong part), I called Milton Heating & Air. I was promised that they would have the part that was needed in 2 days and they actually came out during the ice storm (on an ATV--seriously, I am not making this up) and determined the problem. We ended up getting a new heater and they did a great job. They get 5 stars for honesty and sticking to their promise to get the part in 2 days. We are very appreciative of their service. read more

Absolute thieves. Charged $160 more--$255 total than the last time they were out here 6 months ago. No explanation and after I called them and confirmed the last visit and prices. The owner seems to be a great guy on the surface, but the service was beyond low grade. Missed appointments and when a technician did show he was disrespectful and uninterested at best! You try and give your business to local companies instead of going to the "big names" but sometimes they are the big names for a reason folks! read more

Unfortunately I can no longer recommend this company. The customer service has left me with a very sour taste and incredibly upset. The company lost my check and the owner was to come over in person to discuss and failed to keep his word. The young women in the office was not only disrespectful but lacking in any customer service skills. An overall bad bad experience. I will not be using this company any longer based on how I was treated by the employees of this company. read more
