Challah toast, good but a little burnt
    Alyssa S.

New owners. I'm on the fence between three and four stars for this review. Greek omelette was good. I would give it four stars. Challah was pretty good but it was on the burnt side a little. I really ordered from here because I wanted breakfast for dinner, and that included hashbrowns. And the hashbrowns are pretty sad looking! They look like someone sliced a potato instead of grating it, and they were soggy rather than crisp. I wouldn't say they were awful, but this is what's keeping me from giving four stars. When people order hashbrowns they want crispy deliciousness. And this was some chopped potatoes that also needed some more salt. I won't give up on the new Milton's but the hashbrowns were certainly disappointing!

Came for lunch with my sweetie! Yes this is what I grew up on almost everyday! Well it was all great! Nothing left no doggie bag! Our server was Karen and she was great ! The food was just the way it's supposed to be done! Fantastic

Unfortunately went 0 for 2 on experiences here. I'll explain below, but honestly the location is nice and the menu is attractive but just falls flat on delivery and service. Food (1/5) - First, my wife stopped by a week ago while nearby shopping and thought the french dip was good enough to bring another home to-go for me. They forgot the dip in the order, the key core component of the french dip. The plain sandwich was decent enough that we happened to be nearby again today - gave them a second try only to yet again have issues with service/orders and most importantly taste. Was recommended the pastrami "cheesesteak" but it just didn't have much flavor and was pretty dry - the Chicago dog we got wasn't much better. Sides are fine, crispy chips/fries, coleslaw was really liquid-y, but the potato salad was pretty great after i was finally served it, needing to ask 3 or 4 times. Another key point is we paid $50 for a cheesesteak and a single hotdog and some sides, just not worth the steep cost i think. Maybe I need to order just the things labeled FAMOUS. Service (2/5) - Host lady was really nice/funny, but the service was just alright. wasn't really sure if we had 1 set server as we had like 4 different people bring us or order us different things, all just to have them forget an item for a while anyway and then not get extra water or napkins until the end of the meal. Personal gripe but i think it's insane to have the suggested tip START AT 20% / 22% / 25% when the server is STANDING THERE HOLDING THE MACHINE sure i can scramble to leave a custom lower tip but thats such an awkward encounter as a customer especially if im already having a relatively not great experience to begin with. Ambiance (3/5) the only good thing. cute old school diner decor / atmosphere but it loses its charm when it feels like the whole restaurant is behind, not just the theme. seating was pretty comfortable and this place is pretty big, parking can be a bit rough in the busy plaza though. End of the day seems like they gotta realign with some values or they're gonna keep slipping on quality control.

The service was so friendly and efficient. We got served pretty quickly even though the place was completely full on Saturday at lunch time. It was a cute old school place and I liked the old photos on the wall. I had the mish mash soup, which was very large and couldn't finish. Took the rest home. Very delicious and fresh. Mish mash is like the matzo ball soup but with a giant beef dumpling added.

A promotional discount to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of this Jewish bakery/deli/restaurant in North County was what brought me to Milton's. It's likely one of the OG tenants at the Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar. From the outside, the architecture of the building was unusual, almost resembling an art gallery. The shared parking lot had ample spaces to park close enough to the business. You did have to descend a set of steps or use the external lift to reach the main entrance that was below ground level. The bakery and deli were to the left when you walked in while the dining room was to the right. The menu was a booklet that spanned six pages. Breakfast and beverages were on the first two pages; appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and soups were listed on the middle two pages; and the final two pages displayed the dinners, entrees, hot sandwiches, and desserts. As part of my coupon, I had to order a drink so I chose a lemonade. The Roasted Turkey Dinner was the choice for my meal. Several slices of turkey breast were served on top of a bed of stuffing with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables on the side. A cup of brown gravy and a cup of cranberry sauce were also provided. The white meat was a bit dry which was not unusual when restaurants serve this cut of turkey. The rest of the plate was classic comfort food. The potatoes had chunks in them to give texture. The veggies were cooked to the right degree. The portion size was decent for the price. Initially, the service was a bit choppy as there seemed to be only one worker to cover the entire dining room. As the number of customers dwindled, then the waitress was more on point. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dinner at Milton's.

Went today (Saturday) at 11:00 am with our party of 7. It's located right off the 5 freeway at the (very busy) Flower Hill Mall. Parking was challenging. So I'm glad I was wearing my sneakers. Walking in, the bakery at the entrance was busy but thankfully we were able to get seated right away. The hostess was super friendly and helpful. The menu was vast. So many options for breakfast/lunch/dinner that's served all day! Most of us chose the 1/2 sandwich & soup which we ALL thoroughly enjoyed. I had the pastrami on rye with the turkey chili. The pastrami was meaty & moist, the turkey chili tasted homemade and full-flavored, and the potato salad was creamy. Unfortunately, by the time we left, the bakery was even more packed so we didn't take any baked goods home. Overall, it was a good experience and will be returning. Already planning to get the whole pastrami sandwich next time!

Craving your deli favs? Milton's has been around since 1995. This deli offers all traditional deli and kosher foods from piled high pastrami's, matzo ball soups and a bakery of goodies. Located in the Via De La Valle center, with free parking. The building has the stair lift to help the physically impaired. Outdoor and indoor seating. The interior is light filled with the surrounding hugh arched windows, and some comfy booth seatings. The menus were newish, looked very clean, not a tear, stain...each page easy to navigate. Ordered my deli fav usuals: bowl of matzo ball soup, only broth, carrots and matzo ball it was hearty, the hot chicken broth was soothing and the matzo ball was delish. The half sandwich of pastrami on rye, pickle spear and Cole slaw after I added a bit of french mustard was scrumptious and was filling I couldn't finish my half sando, boxed it Togo. The next day, ordered the Super Reuben sky high sandwich which is the top seller and onion rings, both were excellent. Service by the hostess, waiter and servers was attentive, nice and expedient. During Rosh Hashanah this deli, like all others gets crowded and sometimes there's a wait. I visited after the rush crowd and service and the ambiance was pleasant. This deli does offer catering and the bakery offers lots of goodies for those with a sweet tooth. I had to get their Black and White cookie, which was just freshly baked and frosted, not too sugary sweet just yummy! Milton's is among the best delis, Recommend.

This place was just ok. I went for a repast. It was held in the back room. I was using a walker but decided not to use it. I walked down the somewhat steep stairs. There's like this lift thing that can bring you down which a friend did. She was able to use her walker inside. We ordered whatever we wanted and the food came back in 10 minutes . All fifteen people that never happens at restaurants. The pickles were great the food was so-so. I won't be back it wasn't my cup of tea and that's ok and that's my opinion in my review. The place was decorated with a lot of black and white photos of the races and people throughout the years. Too bad it wasn't more diverse but I get it, it was that era. There was more to the restaurant in the front like a dessert area but I don't get pics of that.

We've been wanting to try out Milton's for a while. It's a large restaurant with a homey feel. There are multiple TVs to watch sports games. We ordered some sandwiches with a side of Matzo ball soup. The taste was decent but not outstanding. The turkey sandwich was extremely dry. I wasn't expecting the sandwich to be just meat. They were generous with meat but it's not very pleasant to eat just dry meat and bread. We also had an open faced sandwich with beef which was a lot juicier on its own but also came with au jus. All in all, so-so food but the prices are very high.

Parking: rough, especially during lunch hours. Most likely you'll need to park on 3rd floor of garage. Recommended to make a reservation if you want to eat there. Wait times were 20+ minutes. They have a few tables outside but most were inside. They have a case of desserts in the deli area. We saw flies crawling out of the muffin top dessert so we didn't order anything from the display case. Ordered to go. Staff were friendly and helpful at the counter. Took 25 minutes for my sandwich to come out. The staff was very nice and kept checking why it was taking so long. Def recommend to call in any orders and not to order onsite for to go. They have a 3% surcharge for credit card use. Tried: Open face Brisket sandwich $26 - potato salad needed salt and pepper. Very bland. French fries were good. Brisket meat was tough and flavorless. The bread was too floppy/could not hold the meat. Pickle was good. Also tried the can of cream soda $4.75. Pretty pricey for a can of soda. Recommend to buy a drink at Whole Foods instead. This spot is basically Dennys style with similar clientele.

Stopped by this spot on a weekday for lunch and sat outside since I had my black lab with me. The server was nice and even turned on the heater for us. We ordered a matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich. Unfortunately the food were not up to the expectations. The pastrami was so dry, the rye bread was lack of flavor and the matzo ball soup was more like salty water than soup. Overall, I won't recommend this place if you are looking for a solid deli experience.

    Ask the Community - Milton's

How accessible is it for a wheelchair user?

There is an accessibility lift for the stairs down into the restaurant so there it is accessible for a wheelchair or those with limited mobility. The restaurant itself is packed together but I am sure there are accommodations they can work with.

    Is all the meat kosher?

No, it's kosher style you will not see any Jewish orthodox people eating here.

Is Carlsbad Bakery open on Sundays?

    Yes 7am - 8 pm

Are they open for Christmas Day 12/25? Called the restaurant but nobody picked up. Yelp shows open today?

Open until 8 pm on Christmas.

They also don't display the quiche, instead they hide the quiche in the back so it just kinda feels deceptive. To make matters worse, the quiche itself was somewhat dry. I've been here for dinner as well and my recommendations would be: -Charcuterie board -Bruschetta boards ( you pick 2) but my faves are the prosciutto one (the prosciutto is chopped up super small so it's perfect and not all stringy like it can be at times) which comes with mascarpone, pistachios, arugula and lemon curd. My other fave is the brie, green apple with honey and sea salt. Another thing to mention is I'm not a huge brie person BUT I adore it if it's triple cream brie. This my friends, is triple cream so it's fantastic. -The fries are also fantastic and the chocolate chip cookies are fire. I'm not even a sweets person but I inhaled it when I tried it. It was delish. -Italian chopped salad- so good and really light but somehow filling at the same time. In the best way possible. I get it all the time. They have a huge wine selection both at the bar and in their fridge section which you can browse while you're in line. They have a wine club as well! I always love a more local mom n pop type place in general vs chains and this place is just a vibe no matter what time of day you go. The word is definitely out though so it can get busy so cozy up at the bar for a cold one while you wait if you run thirsty like me, ha! Or they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want a ni ce breeze. The owner is rad, the entire staff is sweet, accommodating and overall they just absolutely nailed it here. Go see what all the hype is about, you'll leave with a full belly and a smile.
