Family of five out running errands this past Sunday afternoon, we happened to drive by Mimi's and thought it would be a neat idea to stop in for lunch. Mimi's was always one of my favorite places to eat back in the '90s and early 2000s, so I was feeling a little nostalgic. When we walked in, the restaurant was nearly empty. The service was subpar, the food was okay--but definitely not like I remembered it--and overall, it was clear that this once-popular chain has seen better days. Still, we left content enough and tipped well, understanding that this is an outdated chain that seems to be struggling, so we honestly didn't expect much. While we were there, I happened to glance into the kitchen area and saw a kid wearing an LA Dodgers hat and a food handler who appeared to be on her phone, speaking with our server, Eva, and showing her old pictures. What happened next, however, was something we definitely did not expect. Every single one of us became sick. First my wife, then the rest of us. Our group included five people--my wife and me, our 1-year-old, our 4-year-old, and my 80-year-old mother. We all ordered different meals, yet we all became extremely ill afterward. Yesterday, I was bedridden. Both of my young sons are sick. My mother has also been sick. If it were just my wife and me, I might be less upset--but when a 1-year-old, a 4-year-old, and an 80-year-old are involved, I am absolutely irate. I called the restaurant and spoke with Adrian. Unfortunately, I felt that he showed very little concern and immediately attempted to suggest that we could have gotten sick somewhere else, mentioning that they had not received other reports of health and safety issues "in a while." He eventually gave me the phone number for the district manager, Rager. I spoke with the district manager as well and, unfortunately, felt the same lack of concern. What really shocked me was that he essentially challenged me to contact the Fort Worth Health Department, stating that they would only come out and inspect the restaurant if they received an abundance of incoming complaints. Seriously? No refund was offered, so I asked for one--and it was denied. We're taking our 1-year-old to the doctor today. I am writing this review as a warning to others: please use caution and consider avoiding this location. I remember the days when Mimi's had long waits and the restaurant was packed. Those days are clearly gone. We plan to follow up with the Health Department and document everything. We also still have leftovers from our meals and intend to ask the appropriate authorities about whether they should be tested or examined as part of any investigation. This situation is still developing, but based on our family's experience, we will never be returning to Mimi's. read more

The bathroom is sickening and mold on the sink counter it has tile so the grout is moldy and disgusting and the smell is stomach turning. And i haven't even eaten yet I just walked in. Decided to try on a whim back from a trip. We were looking for a soft food to eat on our hangover stomach. The service was ok, not bad but not amazing, very neutral. The atmosphere was quiet and slow so that helped with the headache. My partners food was good, the turkey royal was not what we were expecting but the tomato basil soup was phenomenal plus the fries! I sure hope the Owners/Franchisee person reads these reviews. I ate at the Bryant-Irvin location yesterday and listen, I think your kitchen staff hates you or the restaurant and is trying to put you out of business. My friend and I both ordered coffee and the Quiche Lorraine. The coffee was fine. The quiche came with a side of potatoes. Both the quiche and the potatoes were so heavily salted that they were inedible. We both stopped eating it and took it home to throw away (because we just do that at our age.). It's like someone in the kitchen took a fistful of salt and dumped it in the food. And I love salt! I love McDonalds fries and they're salty. I like tv dinners and they're salty. Maybe the Owner needs to send in undercover spies to be customers. read more

Do. Not. Eat. Here. I'm not kidding. Just don't even bother. We were a party of five that had a 10:30 reservation for Mother's Day. We arrived five minutes early, which means we were on time. Our party included two mothers that were being celebrated. Even with reservations, we waited 35 minutes to be seated. What is the point of having reservations if you don't seat the guests on time? Somehow, another group of five that came in after us got seated before us. Even other parties without reservations got seated before us. We complained, and the hostess rushed to seat us at a table that they were still in the middle of cleaning. The table wasn't ready. We had no silverware, napkins or server. Just two tables pushed together, one of which had screws loose such that the top kept wobbling around. The aforementioned family of five that was seated before us was actually next to us, and in a similar predicament. The mom in that family went and scouted out paper cocktail napkins, and the grandmother went and found silverware for 8 people. They were kind enough to share what they had with us. My husband went to look for more silverware, but was told that they were out. How does a restaurant run of silverware? And why are the guests having to go hunt it down? On Mother's Day? Really?! I got up to look for a manager, but our server finally showed up to take our order. I told her we needed more silverware and asked her to send the manager over. The manager just so happened to be the woman cosplaying hostess at the door. Now you know there is something amiss when the hostess is also the manager. She acknowledged that things were busy but seemed clueless about how to fix it, so all she did was apologize profusely. In terms of the food, my Salomon Eggs Benedict, was fine. A bit too salty with both smoked salmon and capers, but otherwise decent, and the egg was appropriately poached. My husband and daughter (who ordered the same thing) had hard boiled eggs on theirs Eggs Benedict . HARD. BOILED. My father ordered an Avocado Bacon Omelette that came out without avocado. I ordered a half waffle on the side and it didn't come out either. I had to hunt down the server about these issues. She apologized and had them brought out about 10 minutes after our meals arrived. The waffle was cold and soggy. My father's avocado slices were fine but at this point his omelette was also cold. While all this was going on we noticed that other people around us received fancy black cloth napkins while we (and the table of five who were seated before us) were still rocking paper napkins. The five of us requested two separate tabs, but the bill came out on one tab with some random boxed muffins we didn't order. I guess they were the consolation prize for our Hunger Games like experience. As the bill was being sorted out, the five at the other table got up to leave, wished us luck and hoped our day got better. To sum it up, three mothers divided between two tables had to bus their own table on our "special" day. And oh yeah, no one at the restaurant wished anyone a Happy Mother's Day. My friend and I went to Mimi's Cafe after making a quick stop over at Cavendar's Boot City, and figured it would be a good place to get lunch. Our server Briana was amazing with her service in making sure our drinks got toped off and offered recommendations to my friend who was indecisive on what to order. The food was great in presentation and taste, and it was a good portion that was perfect. I had the Citrus Salmon Salad, and water with lemon, and my friend ordered a sandwich with Corn Chowder Soup. The dining room was spacious with simple decorative elements on the wall with a tiled pattern floor. Everything was clean and finished plates were promptly pickup by our server. Last night I looked on the website of Mimi's Cafe in Fort Worth Texas and saw the Mixed Berry Crapes on the menu. This is why I come to this "French" restaurant. I don't even have to look at the menu, I KNOW WHAT I WANT! So, I told her and her response was , "They are no longer in the menu." WHAT???? They were on the website last night. And, who in the right mind would take crapes off a French menu? Ended up ordering oatmeal, what an alternative . I would have rated zero stars if I could have! All six of us at the table, three couples, said we won't be returning! Besides the food, the men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. It was Black Friday, when they opened at 7 AM, and we were the first customers seated. My husband went into the bathroom and toilet paper on the floor in the stall, paper towels on the floor and the trash can was full! Shouldn't the bathrooms have been cleaned before they opened? Then a worker (we know this because they went through the back entrance) at the restaurant was flying through the parking lot to get to work because it was 7 o'clock, probably running late, and almost hit our truck when my husband was backing into a parking space. We had a wonderful Valentine's lunch at Mimi's. They were not busy so we got extra attention. Our server Keenan always makes us feel at home and he is very attentive. Mimi's is a quaint French restaurant that's nicely decorated. We got the 3 course meal: I ordered Tomato Basil soup which was rich and velvety, Spinach Artichoke dip which tasted fresh with Parmesan cheese and for the main course; Turkey, dressing, broccoli and rice pilaf; it was delicious. So sad that the quality of Mimi's has declined. Ordered a Quiche Lorraine and it was just so-so. Crust was tough and overcooked. Filling was very greasy. Also ordered a Cafe Mocha and it had very little coffee or chocolate flavor. We also couldn't get the salt shaker to work so we unscrewed the top and it was very dirty. We had the waitress take it away and bring us a clean salt shaker. Used to be my favorite spot for breakfast out with the family, but probably won't go back. We ordered the Classic Benedict and bacon avocado omelette (with peppers & onions added). I wanted a small side of French toast, however there is no "side" order of this, it would have been $13.99 according the our server. On Friday May 1st I hosted a graduation dinner for my daughter who just graduated collage at Mimi's in Arlington off I20. Prior to the manager Emily was so sweet and very accommodating to every request. She answered all my questions and wanted to make this event was special for my daughter. On the day of arrival, I got to meet Emily in person as she greeted me with a warm smile, a wonderful greeting and introduced us to our server for the evening whose name was Itzel. Itzel worked so hard for this party of 15 and made sure everyone had just what they needed and asked for, she did this with a smile and total sweetness. The reserved room we booked was sweet, neat and perfect for the gathering. The food was prompt and arrived warm at every table. Emily the manager came through on multiple occasions to check on us and also severed whenever needed. They overbooked which has been insane considering I drove an hour to be here to meet my son halfway Obviously the management is awful. No restaurant I know would EVER let this happen. The same thing happened last year and I said I would never come back, but I gave it another try and it happened again. Initially very thing served look good but half way into my salad there was a gross glob of dark green slimy rotten spinach or lettuce. Needless to say this ruined my meal.
