Mimi's was kind of a place I didn't think I would find myself at five years after having incredibly terrible service from. I came back twice recently. Both times the service was pretty good and attentive. Food wise, it was average. Pot Roast - 3/5 I got this same dish once with string beans & the other time with broccoli. The first time the meat was cut in small thin slices and was so tender. The string beans were prepared well and not old. The second time I ordered the pot roast, the cuts were way larger and the broccoli was old and had disgusting black spots ALL OVER. I was able to get new greens instead since they were inedible. Brick Chicken - 2.5/5 My husband wanted chicken and the rock chicken was recommended over another chicken dish. I had a taste and chicken the chicken was really dry. Creme Brûlée "Cheesecake" - 2/5 The cheesecake wasn't exactly cheesecake. This must be what is served to folks who have to eat sugar free desserts. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's easier to find parking now that their neighbor Applebee's closed. read more

If you don't know about Mimi's then what rock have you been under. Or maybe you live unda Da Sea crab. Can really go wrong with anything on the menu. The carrot spice muffins are sneaky deli-si-oso. Who cares it's just butter you have to spread it on. I like to eat the muffin two ways. 1) chop the top off. Place all of the butter inside and turn it upside down. Wait until you are ready and eat it near the end to let the butter melt. 2) cut the muffin into 4's (1/4) pour or spread all the butter in the middle let it soak then eat as you wish. My family and I stopped at Mimi's to have dinner Sunday around 7pm. My daughter wanted In and Out but I wanted a nice sit down place. Our server Michael helped us and this review is not for service. Michael did a good job serving us. My review is on the food. I ordered a half ciabatta chicken sandwich no mayo with tomatoe basil soup. My son ordered the same with onion soup. My son was dissapointed his onion soup was burnt and not tasty and my tomato soup tasted nothing like tomato basil soup. It was thick like marinara sauce. My ciabatta sandwich had mayo! I took off the mayo and wasn't going to complain but I ordered a cappuccino and apple pie a la mode. I almost vomited all my food out. There was a hair in my pie. Ughhh so gross my stomach still turning from being so disgusted. It's upsetting that the cooks don't care to provide good fresh food and think that the customers won't notice. I know it was 3 hours before closing time but that is not an excuse to provide burnt food and to be careless and not wear a hair net. Although Michael took off the pie and cappuccino off the bill. My family and I are so disappointed. I will not come back here anymore. In and Out would have been 10 time better and fresh. Ordered the Florentine Benedict through grub hub which allows you to track when your order will be ready. Timing was accurate and food was still warm when I received it. I was greeted and got my food within minutes of arrival. Staff is smiley an attentive. They provided extra Hollandaise as I requested and the food was overall good. Food wise, this place gets 2 stars. BUT...what waiting area offers complimentary coffee and pastries (in our case, corn bread) while you wait to be seated? Being empty nesters my husband and I decided to come here for Thanksgiving. We had an 11am reservation, got sat immediately, however after 25 minutes we were never acknowledged. We had to ask Kim the hostess for our drinks and silverware. I asked to speak with a manager and now it's over 30 minutes. She apologized and brought us our soup and salad to start off with. Now an hour later we finally got served our meals and they were cold. We had to ask for refills on our coffee and tea. Unfortunately, we never saw who our server was. The manager assisted us and said she'd offer a discount. When the bill came there was no discount. We didn't get checked on and it wasn't a good Thanksgiving meal experience. This review is STRICTLY for COVID times this is my favorite Mimi location. This was our first time ordering since opening back up after they closed. When I arrived to pick up an order placed online , they had items missing , instead of checking their receipts or system they claimed they didn't have anything else for my order. Instead of looking it up they had me look up my order in my email to prove that I had paid for what I had ordered. Breakfast meeting Saturday morning at 9am. There were still empty tables but it seemed to be hopping on a Saturday morning, with a stead stream of customers. Great lazy Saturday morning feel to this place, saw a couple people reading the paper on stools at the counter. I ordered the Mixed Berry Pain Perdu Breakfast- French toast stuffed with cream cheese and orange marmalade, topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries and strawberry puree. Eating this dish is like eating dessert for breakfast =p It wasn't too sweet to me and the cream cheese was light in flavor and texture. The cooks mixed up how my eggs done, but no biggie because the server brought out another plate. We had Carrot Cake Muffin. Thats so huge, warm, filling and delicious (Not too buttery or salty). Those are the positives but the negative is they are crowded and lack of server, gotta be patient. The place has changed ownership so it has the worst food now. I had a party of three and all of us had really bad food that we had to take back but even then it was just as bad as before! French toast was gooey and gross on the inside. The quiche was burned all over . My eggs Benedict was pretty bad too. Since it's changed ownership the people that are running it had let it go downhill and have really poorly prepared food that just just taste awful. This is still a decent restaurant but I'm dropping a star because I recently went here for dinner and got a bad impression of this place. Maybe it's because it's dinnertime and the staff is different than lunchtime, but the service and food were hugely different from the first time I came here for lunch. The hostess (short and stout little girl) seemed so exhausted and tired when we came in, as if she was thinking, "ugh, more customers!". As for the waittress, she was probably very busy and never checked on us or refilled our drinks (we had to ask her), but she was so hard to flag down. Food also took 15-20 minutes to come out. Not like it was THAT busy..not sure what was going on that evening. So for food, we got: -Classic Beef Dip wtih fries (sandwich with top round roast, swiss cheese, mushrooms and peppers) -Crispy Parmesan Crusted Chicken (over with a side of Caesar Salad The sandwich was delicious and I loved how gooey the cheese was and how freshly made the entire sandwich was. It came with au jus sauce. Plus, we got ranch sauce to dip with the fries so that was delicious! (No ketchup was provided on a lot of the tables..) The Caesar Salad was alright; the croutons weren't as fresh as those in Denny's salads, for example. the fork that came with our salad plate was freezing, so that means they just took the salad out of the fridge (eww, how old was it??) and the salad was drenched in sauce..As for the pasta, the chicken looked dry but tasted fine, but the whole dish had a weird sour aroma to it, like it was not fresh, and unlike Olive Garden leftovers, it tasted disgusting the next day!! The weird sour flavor sunk into the chicken too so that wasn't a pleasant experience. This dish was lacking when it came to quality, presentation, and taste. Maybe we came at a bad time and made some bad choices but I don't enjoy going to a restaurant where the experiene is hit or miss! First time at a Mimi's cafe. It's a decent place: clean and friendly service. Seems like their business model is more for consistency than anything else. I came here on a Saturday at 11am and waited 10 minutes to be seated. First thing I noticed was the limited menu selections. There's not a lot to choose from and I can honestly say that Mimi's probably won't be at the top of my mind when I'm hungry =/ Food: I ended up ordering the Omelette Basquaise and Le Grande Breakfast w/ Corned Beef Hash. Nothing was worth raving about... The omelette had a marinara sauce on top. Still I needed the Tobasco to give the food some life! I'd have to say thought, the omelette was big and I was more than full. Service: The waiter was a little slow to come around and take our orders. Other than that, no complaints. Came here tonight and was greeted with the friendliest host! We were so excited to have a delicious bowl of French onion soup and dinner. Everything went down hill after that. Service was horrible! Food was cold! And they never offered us bread and my glass of water was literally half full when it was placed on the table. The entire time our waiter was on his phone texting. We've been coming to this Mimi's for over 16 years. Now up until the last two months, the service had been good. Our last visit, not so much. My mom, grandma and I decided to stop here after my bridal fitting. Debbie, the hostess, was sweet and sat us down at a booth near the counter area. She also got our drink order for us. It took awhile, but our server finally showed up just to take our order. No introduction, just a brief order take down. We waited a little bit for our food. Someone else brought it out. Mom my wanted to get some dressing for her salad. We had seen our server and flagged him down. He saw us, but ignored us. We had to flag someone else down for it. We didn't get our drinks refreshed, no one checked on us. Our server finally came around to drop off our check. We paid and left. Way to go. My great and exciting day left me irritated after this visit. We had the same server prior and he was just as horrible. He was busy laughing with other tables and what not, but ignored me and my grandma. After this last visit, we decided we won't be coming back anymore. read more

Seriously??? 25 min AFTER we ordered they're telling us that??? Long story short, meals arrive about 12 min later. I got the turkey dinner. Terrible. Every bit of it. Veggies were cold. (Literally) Turkey, mashed potatoes, even the stuffing were so industrialized. Didn't even look like real food. Tasteless. Couldn't believe they served me this meal! Left most of the meal there. Obviously, NO QUALITY CONTROL in the kitchen. Footnote: wife's pasta was just ok. Nothing special like it used to be). Anyway, didn't leave a tip (I NEVER DO THAT.. EVER). Left and will never return. I came in last weekend with my husband not expecting much, but left Mimis with a great experience !! Shortly after we arrived we were seated and greeted by our lovely server Anthony. We had never been here before so we were very unsure about what to order, but Anthony recommend the best breakfast options! Waited 10 minutes and some other people came who sat down next to us with a screaming little girl and the blond waitress told her, "I'll be right with you guys" but not us even though I was with my elderly mom who is in a wheel chair. So, I'll admit that I'm a fan of good service. Service points go a long way with me, and bad service is something that I can't stand. Having said that, I had one of the worst service experiences yet at Mimi's Cafe today. I don't have anything against Mimi's as a rule ... I like the ambiance and their food isn't bad (it's what I like to call Huntington Row quality - because there are a thousand of those big corporate chains on Huntington Blvd. in L.A.). Anyway, I went in today and they seemed to be getting it all wrong. The service took too long and they kept forgetting/mistaking the orders. Instead of poached eggs my cousin ended up with pretty much hard-boiled eggs (which we had to give back, only to get a replacement that was like soup - no middle ground apparently). Then they overcooked my aunt's burger and forgot to put the guacamole in it). The worst thing though was the waiting. It took almost 45 minutes to bring out our food ... too long a wait for this type of restaurant. I didn't hate my meal all that much ... had the Bleu Cheese and Walnut Salad (with chicken) and the Apple Streusel Muffin. The salad was good, a nice blend of berries and blue cheese. The muffin was ok, had good texture and some nice warm apply-ness (totally a word), but the carrot muffin they have is way better. Hoping the service here improves. read more
