I had a wonderful experience getting a manicure from Mimi! This was my first time coming to her salon, after finding it on Yelp and reading all the good reviews. I'm glad to say that my experience lived up to my expectations! I came in on Saturday around 12, and it was a bit busy with a wait time of ~20 minutes before I was seated. After sitting in their waiting area for a bit, Mimi directed me to her station and I got a five-star service! The technicians were friendly and skilled, the stations were clean, the tools were sanitized, and there was even a mini clip fan to keep me cool amid the summer heat. I asked Mimi for a gel removal + a gel full set on my natural nails, with a sparkly double-French manicure design. She was able to deliver on this request in no time! I was super impressed. I came in for a quick, cheap solid color gel mani (super basic) and it came out great, but I had a VERY long wait. I came here around 6:15pm on a Fri. I called ahead to ask make sure they had time for me since they close at 7, and Mimi told me I could walk in. When I got there I waited for 55 mins before I was seated. 3 people came in after me and were seated first (they probably had reservations?). The salon itself isn't very relaxing or aesthetically pleasing. When it was finally my turn (by 7:10), my nail tech thanked me for waiting and got to my nails. She payed close attention to detail and fixed one of my broken nails with powder. She also helped me pick the polish color between two options I tried. I paid $30 for the gel mani (+$1 for paying with card) +$5 tip. I expected to pay a little less since I didn't get any designs but maybe they charged extra for the 1 powder nail. Looks like they're capable of some really nice designs so if you're looking for a cheap nail salon and don't mind a 3-star experience to get the job done, I'd recommend coming here! read more

I moved to Long Beach end of last year and have been driving back to Costa Mesa to get my nails done just because I haven't found a place that matches quality for the price point but Mimi's does just that. I got a fun design on my nails (dip) and a gel pedicure and the total came out to $98 which is totally a fair price. Nancy did my toes and she was very meticulous and Mimi did the designs on my hand. You can tell she's an expert as she was able to paint the designs so quickly and flawlessly. She can also help you design your nails if you're not sure either! Mimi's Nails & Spa is located in a small lot within Cherry and PCH situated next door to Long Beach Flowers. I've been coming here for a few years but today I was intrigued to leave a review. I usually receive ok to standard service whenever I stop by but today there was a new lady I've never seen before that I honestly wasn't quite fond of. My mom and I both got pedi's and mani's both french tip. The new lady was working and made an unnecessary comment about how my hands are "big" which honestly left me feeling uncomfortable. She also kept getting upset as she said "I couldn't relax" and I apologized and informed her of my anxiety. Besides the bad service, she did a good job on my acrylics. The guy, Kevin which I'm assuming as that's the only man that works there, is also quite rude. In the past there was an occasion where I politely asked for a pair of the foam sandals and he said in a snarky tone, "For what? I just sweeped the floor it's clean." When I first walked in I was greeted right away. My Gel manicure was great she paid attention to my cuticles and painted my nails to perfection. I got a gel mani done here on September 12. My gel manicure started lifting within a week of me getting them done. I noticed my index finger was lifting at around day 3-4 after getting them done. I don't normally get gel but I wanted to treat myself since I was going on vacation and needed something to last - and I know that gel typically lasts 2-3 weeks. But not this gel. I usually get plain coffin nails with just one color, but people can never get the shape correct. I believe his name was Kevin... he did an AMAZING job and for the price, plus the conversation, I'm definitely coming back. I have had lots of pedicures in my lifetime and the one I had here was the worst! Paid for a premium pedi and the 10 min massage was just some light petting while she spoke to others in her language stopping along the way several times. I realize you get what you pay for but I've had many pedis in walk-in shops where the massage alone earned the tip! I have had fast pedicures but this one was lacking any kind of eye for detail nor effort and I feel the nail tech had zero interest in being her best! Not bad, but not great. Came as a group of 3 with an appointment at 9:30am. 3 gel pedis + 2 gel manis (no art, different accent nail color) + 1 dip powder = $217. My purpose was really to shape my nails and toes, and I wasn't too concerned about longevity or pristine painting. Pedicures: Really good! I'm very satisfied with Helen. Please beware that she will go at your overgrown big toe nails, and you may bleed, but I think it's worth it. Manicures: I think it's better to get your nails done at the seated area. Or maybe they don't seal the nails here very well since the people I went with have noted peeling and flaky nails after 2 days. My nails are solid, but two have bubbles, and I can't necessarily say they look nice? I think this shop might be much much better at acrylics and gelx than regular nails. A note: walk-ins might be better off waiting rather than coming back after a while since someone can take your place while you're out. This happened twice, where if the person had stayed, they would have been seated within 20 minutes, but they came back after 35 minutes to no vacancy again. read more

Nails always pop off right away or chip. I tried this place twice and both times they popped off right away.

Quality is not good, maybe cause they're short staffed. Unsatisfied with the shaping, despite asking for it to be fixed. The overlay was done and some nails look thicker than others, especially the thumbs. I requested what looked like a very simple design. French tip in 3 fingers and design on 2... it looked simple but the tech could not do French tip if her life depended on it. First problem, she did not use a base coat you know for that pinkish look that goes below the French tip. Then the actual French tips had to be redone multiple times as some looked more straight than having the deep curving I wanted like my pinky. I've had French tip done so many times and I get everyone's technique is different but most places use a brush to even it out vs just freestyling it like she did. I really wanted to come back to have them fix it but my time is valuable. I'll go elsewhere. I was trying to find a local salon, close to home but this proofs my nail tech is worth the 25 minute drive. $108 for a fill and pedi, not worth it. I'd rather pay more, farther and get quality work done. read more
