This is an Italian grocery store as well as a small restaurant. The Italian items are excellent. Their home made sauces are all excellent. This store was an even better experience this visit than my first time here over a year ago. In fact, I wanted to try and buy everything in the store! This time, however, it was so much easier to get here. The road was no longer ripped up and under construction so it wasn't as challenging a drive. And the service I received was also better. I wanted to come back here - as I was already in the area -- but also to buy wagon wheeled shaped pasta. It is not the easiest shape to find and here they have several brand choices -- and two sizes (large and mini) and several box/bag sizes. As it turned out, I not only got my wagon wheels, but also some fresh frozen pasta --- mushroom ravioli and Gorgonzola ravioli. We had a bit of both for dinner and they were yummy, btw. In addition, we got some large green olives and a huge whole artichoke stuffed with bread crumbs. The yummy pastry I got didn't last long enough for a photo -- nor did it make it past the parking lot into the car! They have delicious everything -- pastries and bread that they make; fresh pasta; jars and boxes of every kind of Italian food or condiment you can think of. They also have their oven fired up if you want a fresh pizza. If you're in the southern part of town and looking for a great Italian grocery, this is your kind of store. Never going back. I've lived in the neighborhood 20 years and in all the times I've patronized this place I've gotten horrible service and attitude. Wish I knew the lady at the counter's name...she must not have teeth and standing on rocks all day because I've never seen a smile or heard a kind tone or word. Mimi is my go to spot in south Florida for any homemade Italian eats. They are not just a pasta store but more of a marketplace that you can get anything Italian you ever dreamed of. The offer plenty of homemade frozen pastas, sauce and food. The ravioli are delicious and come in plenty of flavors aside from the original for you to choose from. They even have other fresh cut pastas and bags of pasta in the aisle. If you're in the market for a special cut, they have it or it doesn't exist! I wouldn't say their prices are cheap by any means but you're paying for quality imported ingredients so it's worth it. If you aren't in the mood to cook, Mimi has plenty of Italian delicacies to meet your needs! Eggplant parm, chicken cutlets, stuffed artichokes you name it! All ready for you buy and just heat and serve when you get home. All the breads and pastries are baked on site and all are more delicious than the next. My personal favorite are the boxed raspberry butter cookies dipped in chocolate. I could seriously eat the whole box! Yum! Have I mentioned the mozzarella? Anyone at the counter will ask you if you want some before you leave as if it's a party favor you can't leave the store without getting on. Which they aren't exactly wrong... it's made fresh and often times warm when you leave. Trust me it's ok. Take the goods and go. Get home and cut into that bad boy and just experience the greatness. It's perfect. I recommend capitalizing on eating it fresh with a nice tomato when you get home because its just not the same the day after. Equally as delicious but the texture changes. Moved from California 5 years ago and when I found out that Mimi's is less then 3 minutes from my house I knew I was in trouble. Their fresh homemade mozzarella is out of this world. You have to eat the mozzarella right away dont put it in the fridge as it isnt as good!! They cut their bread fresh and their sandwich's are also fabulous!! My favorite pastry from there is their lobster tail!! They have pizza dough to make pizzas at home and cannolis your can fill yourself so they won't get soggy if they're sitting!! Love this store. Wish they had one in the Tampa Bay area. Was visiting friends in Sunny Isles and we stopped in on the way back to Tampa. The fresh mozzarella, cacciocavallo were delicious.
