This place is phenomenal. The best pizza I've ever had and their breads are awesome. You must check this place out!!!

Gee! This place is packed top to bottom. No kidding. You could easily spend an hour and not finish seeing all the stuff that is crammed in the store. Mimi's Ravioli carries a lot more than ravioli, that's for sure. As soon as you walk in, there is a three level table full of extra virgin olive oil and infused olive oils. Next to it, on the right, there's a fridge full of frozen pasta and ravioli, and in front of the fridge, yet another table full of biscotti, cakes, panettone and cookies. To your left, another fridge full of frozen dinners and fresh pasta, sauces, cold cuts, etc ... and you have only taken one step inside Mimi's. To summarize the assortment, there is frozen pasta, fresh pasta, dry pasta, all types of pasta shapes, olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, infused olive oil, olive oil in bottles and in cans, balsamic vinegar, cakes, cookies, panettone, flours, pizza dough, bread, focaccia, cheeses, sausages, dry sausages, etc. And that is not including the hot food. Turn around the corner, to the back of the store, and there's a variety of salads and hot food, including pasta salads, meatballs, lasagna, chicken cutlets, etc, as well as tarts, cakes, and pies. This place basically has everything. The hoarding doesn't stop there, and here is where things start to get weird. There are fridges behind the counters that you can't reach. You have to ask one of the employees to get the stuff for you. And there are also shelves of breads and pastries that you can't see unless you stand by the hot food section and only if you pay attention. Clearly, you have to be a seasoned Mimi's customer to know all the ins and outs of this market and to take full advantage of your visit. Or you could just continue reading. Mimi's also has a pizza oven on premises, so make sure to get a pizza. Like I said, there is a lot than just raviolis at Mimi's. This store seems to be an import from New York with the thick Brooklyn accent included and all. The staff seems to be also imported, happy and outgoing, cracking jokes left and right like people who eat fiber for breakfast. Consequently, many of the customers are northerners. For example, regulars that walk in asking for "meetahballs" are a common sight, as well as people looking for fresh mozzarella. That said, one visit to this place will get you set for quite a while. Mimi's is the proverbial one stop shop, where one stop is enough to load up on frozen dinners, fresh pasta, olive oil, dry pasta, mozzarella, dry sausages, bread, and a tart for dessert. In other words, this is "the freaking Italian supermarket in South Florida", and it rocks. On my maiden voyage, I got some regular focaccia, fresh pasta and a couple frozen dinners. Once I reheated the focaccia at home, it was delicious. Not the same with the frozen dinners, although quite good. The fresh pappardelle I got was okay also, but it is worth a try. For all the foods and groceries, Mimi's is definitively something not to "foh-get about it", but to visit again and again, specially if you are a fan of mee-tah-balls or if you like cooking Italian or Italian-American food. read more

I discovered Mimi's today after seeing that Gino's across the street was closed. Ok, so this place doesn't look like much from the outside but on the inside---holy cannoli(cmon, I had to!) ---lots of Italian goodies. Very friendly staff that greets you as you walk in and even gave me a few god bless you's after an allergy sneezing attack hit me. The first thing I noticed was the huge selection of frozen ravioli they offer. It kinda made me sad I don't live in South Florida anymore b/c I would have been on that like white on rice---goat cheese stuffed ravioli, sun dried tomato ravioli, roasted red pepper ravioli and more! They have a market selection of cookies, olive oils, dressings and other goodies plus they offer a pretty sweet selection of home made goodies like lasagne, focaccia, pizza, calzones, salads and desserts. I went with a pepperoni calzone, which was stuffed to the max with cheese and pepperoni galore. I really dug how they have whole wheat and gluten free options there and their fresh mozzarella looked absolutely amazing. If you're looking for an Italian market, be sure to check this place out. I walk into the store and immediately go to the back to pick up a few packs of Kamut and Farro pasta from Italy. (Both are high protein and easily digested.) Going past the refrigerators of homemade sauce and the displays of freshly made dishes near the brick oven I stop at the jars of marinated peppers and packages of beans and grains. But hubby is calling me to come over to the freezer cases of ravioli and cannoli creams in pipping bags..it's all a swirl of deliciousness! We realize we have too many stops to make before going home and pass on getting these items, albeit lingering to discuss what could be...a fine dinner and dessert (we could buy the filling and get some cannoli shells stored behind the counter to fill right before we eat them). Heading for the counter it's all too much - by this point we want everything! So we get half of a focaccia with garlic and parmesan, a few baguettes and a box of cookies. And then we break down and buy stuff that needs refrigeration - at least it's not frozen stuff that would degrade if defrosted and refrozen - we grab garlic butter, fresh mozzarella, and hot and sweet soppressata. It doesn't matter that supermarkets sell the same stuff - nothing compares with the quality of the food from this salumeria/bakery! Growing up in the northeast, on this food, I am brought back to my childhood and tasty memories. I am very upset that I didn't know this place existed before and I've been living in Hollywood for the past seven years. The place is very small but the food is incredible. One of the best cannolis and the best sandwiches. I've tried around the area the prices are a little bit high, but that's your typical Italian market prices in south Florida can really compared to up north or somewhere else, but the coffee the sandwiches cannolis all were good and definitely will come back again. read more

Funny you would think that their best product was their Ravioli, yet that is the one thing that I don't like from there. Not quite sure why but it doesn't strike me. I will have to try the fresh ones as the frozen ones have disappointed me on multiple occasions. With that said it is so much more than Just Ravioli. This small charming storefront is Throwback Italian and there is not much room to get around inside here either. They have so many Italian specialty items I don't know where to begin but it is all good. Their mozzarella is the best around, their fresh Semolina bread is NJ worthy, their prepared foods though a bit pricey are outstanding with the finest ingredients and their selections of Italian Meats and cheeses is 2nd to none. Staff is friendly and Helpful... OH and their pizza dough is fantastic to take home and make your own pizza or Zeppoles. I understand it was Christmas week and the queue was out the door. However, i had taken the time to call my order weeks prior for catered dinner items. Why did i have to make the queue even after telling the "bouncer" my name and that i was there to pick up an order that i had already paid a deposit for. C''mon Mimi i know it's pandemic times but next year please have a special pick-up window for pre-orders. Invest in additional point of sales and entrust some more of your employees to be cashiers then the service would be faster. Our Chicken Marsala was delicious! Spaghetti al olio was way too oily and garlicky. Yes i discovered too much garlic is possible. Next time i will say oil and garlic sauce on the side. Focaccia was yummy and so were the meatballs and fresh mozzarella. I forget how much i love this place. Just be sure to stop in when not in a rush. read more

Hey Mimi.. I purchased 2 boxes of your 24 count ravioli's from Doris market. After taking them out of the box and breaking them apart. Five of the ravioli had part of the card board box stuck to the bottom of them. This doesn't happen when I purchase Pastosa ravioli's from Josephs Italian Market. This place is definitely a little misleading as it looks very big by the outside but you fell like a sardine walking around the inside.People that come here know what they want and if you don't keep up you get left behind. I had two people skip me while trying to order because I didn't even know if I had to be helped by different people in different "deli" divided sections (in their defense it was a hectic Sunday morning). They a wide variety of desserts which were all very tasty; however, what would make me return to this place is their tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. The sauce was delicious! It had a nice bold kick, you can taste the spices, garlic, nice and fresh tomatoes. I had the plain rice balls.. boring.. the prosciutto and mozzarella rice ball was tasty.. Prepare to be transported out of South Florida and into a great Italian shop that will wow you with quality and taste. My favorite has to be their fresh mozzarella, it reminds me of some I had in Italy a few years ago. It has a distinct flavor and takes you to heaven with each bite. Next I really enjoy their Sicilian pizza. It has a crispy bottom with good flavor and the sauce is fresh. 3rd I'd say the pastry. I had the lobster tail with canolli filling. With Gino's and Doris Italian Markets gone, Mimi's is the go to Italian deli in Hollywood. They have a wide variety of pastas, imported Italian products and pizza! Their cold cuts are quality...the prosciutto was sliced perfectly not too thin or thick. Check out the breaded chicken cutlets. Huge pieces enough for two people. Also try the eggplant zucchini layered Lasagna style. Don't skip over their desserts. Connolli was fresh and very good. They're not stingy on the filling! Mimi's has been a fixture for many years. This is the greatest bakery in Florida. The cannolis are so fresh they won't even fill them in advance! Not to mention the chocolate covered cannoli shells. And the huge fabulous brownies. We're from Italy and don't have many options in the area to get the products we like. This small place has a few so we have to go there now and then. Every time we find that it lacks some basic notions of how things should be done according to tradition. As an example, we ordered 1/2 pound of speck and they sliced it in the back of the store, we couldn't see under which conditions, and when we got home we couldn't eat it because it was so thick that it seemed made of plastic. Wow real deal Italian comfort food! Amazing hidden gem here in hollywood. This is the reason why i prefer going to mom n pop stores rather than national branded franchises. Here you taste the food like if your grandma was making your favorite dish with the freshest herbs Today was my first time here and it was an instant hit. Even the way they take your order or ring up your purchases its like a well organized chaos. It's really heart warming. When we payed at the register they even offered us a free tasting of fresh mozzarella on a slice of bread. Which franchise would actually offer this? Bottom line the food was phenomenal here. Like warm blanket, good food, with parents and siblings that want to know what are you doing with your life home. I loved it. Don't plan on going to anywhere after stopping in. The best bet is to take something hot, something cold, and something for the ride home. If you can't cook this place helps you fake it. But everything it so good you might need toss a jar of cheap store bought spaghetti sauce over it to not blow your cover. The only thing that I have ever had an issue with was some extra extra salty pint of Black olives. But I probably aint them on a Monday and just felt salty that they weren't open. read more

Have been coming here for over 26 years, and without fail I can never go in and buy just one thing, their homemade cannolis are to die for, and if you're a gluttonous foodie like me, buying one cannoli will never be enough so you might as well buy the filling And the shells to make it yourself. Although I admit, I have skipped the shelves and bought just a filling and sat there eating it on my couch while binge watching my K dramas, I know weird combination Italian goodness with Korean drama.
