Mim's is THE place to go!! My friend and I were visiting from New York and arrived at Mim's to visit our good friend, Jimmi, the bartender. We weren't going to eat and then the best seafood on the island manifests in front of your very own eyes haha We stared off with the tuna tartare, quite the amuse bouche! Super fresh, delicious and very promising ha! The piece of resistance was of course the lobsters!!! We had one of each, a stuffed one and a coconut curry one. My favorite was the curry one, my friend and I literally had a food orgasm as we were eating the crustaceans. The layers of deliciousness are endless, the textures and the flavors are so good you would sell your soul for another bite. Maybe not sell your soul, but you may want to lick and suck that lobster shell dry. Really freaking amazing. Best lobster in town. The Lobster Curry was delicious. The electricity was off when I arrived but they had plenty of candles around. I had to take a picture to see what my food actually looked like. I sat at the bar where Tucker was kind and friendly. This restaurant is the 2nd oldest on the island. The beach front location is beautiful. This place is awful! Don't give them your money! Go to Iggys instead, you'll be glad you did. We stayed at the villas upstairs so thought we'd try it. First night we got a to go order as the wait time was almost 2 hours. Had 2 crab legs, eggplant parm with pasta, shimp Primavera. Crab was good, not worth the money. The rest was ok, like something you'd get at Dennys. Most food was about $30. Our food and drinks came to over $400. The next night I went down for a drink and witnessed this. Man comes to hostess counter, he says he wants an order to go. The restaurant manager looks him up and down with discussed and says to his face, that's not my problem and walks off!! The man just turned and left. I was shocked! Then after talking with others staying at the villas found out that this is normal for them. Service was terrible and food not much better. They disrespect the tourists and fall all over the locals. Don't give these people your money! The owners know that they act this way and don't cate. Witnessed the employee actually touching the food to see if it was hot and then served it! I don't want someone else touching my food, especially during covid! Stay away from here!! read more

This is the GO TO SPOT for a delightful seafood meal! The view is unbeatable. The staff although its a very tough time serving during the corona, they were delightful and funny. Be sure to make a reservation as seating is limited! Always be respectful and wear your mask until you are seated. So many tourists think its ok since they got a covid test to not wear the mask but truly it is mandatory and considering the healthcare situation there why would you ever be so rude to not comply. Anyway, i started off with the seafood bisque and it was to die for! The seafood alfredo is filling and delicious! Treat your servers good and they will treat you better!!!!!! Disclaimer: we had a big party split between two tables (11 people total) BUT we did call ahead and have a reservation. Service was EXTREMELY slow. We made sure and ordered our drinks, appetizers, and food at the same time so that we did not slow down the process. After ordering, it took about 20 minutes for our table to get waters... another 30 minutes for drinks. After an hour we got our appetizer (Calamari) with enough pieces for 6 people to have two small bites. Thankfully, we got complimentary bread rolls. What seemed like 45 minutes later, we received our food with several errors to correct. One of our party did not receive her food and it was not brought to her until we reminded the waitress. Food was okay, absolutely overpriced for the quality. All in all, poor service with decent food did not make for a good experience. read more

Seated right up against the rocks abutting the ocean (Bolongo Bay), it's nice and breezy, open air and is the exact type of dining to strive for in this type of climate. It's usually very busy so a reservations required. We had little ones in the mix which always complicates things as you try and ensure they stay out and eat food. They have an pretty decent kids menu everything from pasta to chicken and sides. The adult menu is chock full of seafood dishes (the lobster is pricey but worth it!). It is definitely on the pricier side and again - the view is mostly what you are paying for. I had the shrimp and crab with linguini in lobster sauce. It was good, I needed to season it but it was definitely on the heavy side yet filling. The calamari we started with was a tiny portion. They didn't have any bread and butter and the meals came out super slow but also one at a time with minutes in between. My little ones pasta was wrong so she had to wait. read more

We were seated at our table for 30 minutes and had multiple waitresses walk by our table without even offering to get us waters to start. ( sometimes/most of the time when you venture to bars in st thomas all the drinks are way to strong and it ruins the taste for me. I want to enjoy my drink not get wasted. ) Appetizers 3 stars Coconut shrimp good but you could tell frozen out of box. Stuffed Shrimp and crab mushrooms were ok freshly made but sort of mushy. Needed a little more time in oven to brown the cheese. Calamari good but frozen out of box as well. French bread sliced and butter on side was good. Entrees 5 stars Shrimp and Crab pasta in a lobster sauce(wowwy wow wow!!!!!) Freshly made excellent just order it! You will not be disappointed. New york steaks with peppercorns sauce very good. I have to give 1 star for the lack of organization, service and decent food. It was terrible. The hostess seemed annoyed and there were 2 tables at 6:15 pm. She knew we were a party of 5 and sat us at a table set for 4 .... As I was going to ask she started over and noticed. Our server came 10-15 minutes later told us everything they didn't have ... we ordered 3 drinks. Another 10-12 minutes to get those. Remember there were 3 tables. Then took appetizer order - 4 torenos. And 4 coconut shrimp for $14.95 each and they were over cooked ??! The food was NOT good. The shrimp scampi was buttered noodles and tiny shrimp. The breaded shrimp was over cooked and the baked potato was half a small potato that was left over from the day before. The mahi mahi was over cooked and small. The red snapper was the same with boxed rice. Service was so slow it was painful. While we sat there 2 tables were sat and they had to ask for a server after 30 minutes of waiting. Terrible. Beautiful waterfront dining. Walked in on Thursday night for the $29.99 AYCE shrimp special. These are large, wild caught, peel-and-eat shrimp that are steamed, seasoned with Old Bay and served hot. First round is 12-15 shrimp with fries and corn. Servings of 8-10 shrimp follow until you tap out. The wait time between orders was never more than 5 minutes, and we probably went through about 5 orders. Special for two with some drinks and tip will run you $100. read more

I was there with a party of 8 or so. Decor? Think 70's. Seafoam. Cheap. Considering gratuity was already factored into our bill, I'd say the service was just ok. We were sold pretty hard on their "specialties", or put more bluntly, the most expensive things they offer, complete with this ridiculous laminated photo album the waitress brought out. Super cheesy and should have been a good indicator that if a place has to bring out 8x11" pictures of the food, it's probably best to get something else. The cocktails they make are very weak, so after the first round of those we stuck to beer. They can't mess with the alcohol content of those! (or can they). Half of us ordered tuna tartar and fried calamari as starters. These were actually pretty good. Tuna seemed fresh, seasoned well, was a good sized portion and served with about 6 crackers. The calamari was equally as tasty, no complaints here. We waited what I would consider a decent amount of time for our meals if the restaurant was busy...but we were one of the few tables on a Monday night, so in the scheme of things I'd say it took entirely too long for the food to be delivered. An hour for a nearly empty restaurant to deliver food is a bit ridiculous. The plates were also delivered about 3 minutes apart, queue awkward stares at each other. 4 people ordered the medium stuffed lobster, which at 89.99, all agreed was underwhelming. The lobster itself was tough and tasteless, the stuffing had a strange gamy taste and texture, and the dipping butter/oil that was served was downright gross. This restaurant came highly recommended by our hotel concierge. Really quite a disappointment! Perhaps if we had gotten the coconut curry lobster, things would have been different. But I was leery of the pricing variation as others have mentioned in reviews. The salads were subpar and certainly not worth the money. We had fried shrimp, calamari, mahi mahi, salmon, fried scallops and Fra Diablo (shrimp, scallops, lobster) at our table....all comparable to something you would find at Red Lobster. We were told Mims has the best seafood on the island. I certainly hope this is not true....and we know it isn't based on our experiences at other restaurants over the past six years. We arrived an immediately saw two gentleman spraying bug spray just outside the entrance. We realized why as we sat. We ordered apps and were underwhelmed. The calamari was just plain boring. The crab fitters were pretty good. We ordered our mains - the grouper with dijonaisse sauce was highly recommended- it came out as an over sauced, gloppy mess. We also had scampi which was tasty but left us disgusted as we saw the bowl of butter left behind. Yuck. Everything was served on ugly Correlle style cheap plastic plates. If you're visiting St Thomas and you're looking for fresh seafood, go somewhere else. We ordered their 2-3lb signature coconut curry lobster, blackened mahi, and shrimp scampi. As you can tell from the picture, they gave us half a lobster, I've had bigger 1.5lb whole lobster. Maybe Mims weigh their lobster with the curry sauce on it. And the half lobster was previously frozen, if you've tasted fresh lobster you'd know. Did i mention the half lobster was $59.95 without tax? Next, $26.95 mahi was small, previously frozen and overcooked. Costco frozen mahi tasted better than this. This is our second time at Mim's for the coconut curry lobster. It's incredible. We had it with rice & fresh cooked vegetables. Hot fresh rolls melt in your mouth. Full bar where amazing cocktails are created. Wine list is very limited, but that's to be expected. Sitting at the table watching the gentle waves break against the rocky shore is very relaxing. I don't think there is a bad seat anywhere in this open air restaurant. Servers were very friendly, knowledgable & professional. Great experience for an out of the way place on St. Thomas. read more

It's seriously not THAT hard to get to, though to be honest we first went to the bar a few steps down the beach thinking it was the restaurant. The views are spectacular. The restaurant is pretty much situated on a cliff that looks out over the ocean. To take advantage of this, they even have some two-person tables where both seats look directly out over the edge. The food is not cheap (~$25 entrees), but I think when you factor in the setting it's good value. Overall the quality was very good, but I wouldn't say outstanding. The grouper dijonaise was tasty, but felt like it had too much mayo. The blackened mahi mahi was yummy, but the sauce didn't knock me off my seat. The best value on the menu is the cocktails. Order a bunch of them. They have a very decent selection and they're very worth the $6-8 price tag. I strongly recommend Mim's for a nighttime dinner. read more

My family's been going to Mim's for years and they've suffered some ups and downs. Though, on my most recent visit over Christmas this year they seem to be headed in the right direction. Decor: Yes, it's outdated but it's right on the water so I don't really care. If you sit under the covering next to the water and look over the edge you can see baby sharks swimming around. They hover there for leftovers from the kitchen. Food: I only ever get the curried lobster because it's always delicious and I actually have dreams about it when I know I'm coming for a visit. They used to offer small, medium and large sized lobsters and the price would vary based on size. This can be treacherous - you could order a small but get a larger small so the price will be closer to a medium. And then the bill comes and you're surprised and a little pissed off. I don't know if they still offer different sizes, this time they only offered small but maybe that's all they caught that day. Service: They used to automatically include gratuity on the bill which is always a terrible idea. This time around our server made a show of leaving the gratuity up to us so I think they've made that a permanent change. Dining at Mim's was absolutely delightful and left us such memorable experience. Between my hubby and I we split the medium sized lobster curry and omg......... sooo sooo good!!! After dinner we asked for the dessert menu and we ordered a bread pudding and that bread pudding was to die for! My husband isn't a dessert person but loves bread puddings, and he said mim's bread pudding one of the best one he ever had in his life! Was in St. Thomas for a wedding and about 16 of us decided to have dinner there on a Thursday Night. All of us had an excellent meal and I give them credit for accommodating us without a reservation. I think each of use tried everything on the menu and I can assure your we had no complaints. Our server Priscilla did a a wonderful job and the bartender Paul was also great. I had the all u can eat Shrimp, Lobster/Crab Dip, and bites of Wahoo, Swordfish, Lobster, Mahi Mahi, and coconut shrimp. Also, as far as decor, its beautiful. Its right on the water in a Bolongo Bay.
