Appreciate the responsivenesss of the Property Manager Marisa to call me to ask if I had any questions. Now there was a constant alarm buzzing sound as we were moving in, but it was good that the person who was cleaning up the facility said she was on it with getting a key to the the alarm, to turn off the buzzing noise. I do not recommend Public Storage on West 8 Mile Road. Maintenance Issues Within six months of renting a unit, I was assigned one with a broken door. Management repeatedly promised to repair the door but never fixed it, despite multiple complaints. The issue remained unresolved even after a rent increase. I eventually had to purchase hardware myself to keep the door secure. Pest Infestation Rats infested the storage unit. The infestation destroyed nearly all of my furniture, clothing, and personal belongings. Management Response After an em Shannon informed me that my unit door had been found open, I explained the damage caused by the infestation and ongoing security issues, I was promised a follow-up regarding the situation, but no one ever contacted me again. Damages The combination of the broken door, severe rat infestation, and lack of management response resulted in the loss of almost everything I owned. This is the worst run company I've ever come across. Where should I begin? I rented a 10'x15' unit for a year. Things started off badly and only got worse. They assigned me a room that was already occupied. They changed my lock and didn't tell me. The one elevator was broken for at week, and I couldn't access my 2nd floor unit because the temporary manager didn't have a key to the stairwells. When trying to find a manager at this location, I was given the name of a man and a few useless phone numbers. I finally tracked him down on LinkedIn only to find out he no longer worked there. They still referred me to him after I told them he doesn't work there. Their left hand doesn't know what their right hand is doing, and they don't care. And within a year, they increased my rent at least twice. Why am I paying more for horrible service? I will discourage anyone from renting from this unprofessional, unhelpful, unknowledgeable, incapable company - especially the one at 24200 Telegraph Rd in Southfield, MI. NOT WORTH IT! read more

They only have one dolly to move your heavy stuff!! and when I asked when they could expect a replacement the very nice office lady said that it could take MONTHS!! This public storage has the most amazing customer service. Every employee I came In Contact with was always friendly, professional and went above and beyond to address my concerns. One particular employee stood out, Douglas. Every single time I've had an issue, concern or complaint he always addressed it and followed through. Having to use a storage unit comes with its challenges and can be a stressful experience for some people. I like that the staff, especially Doug always took the time to explain things thoroughly. No stars given. Renting from the facility on Maple in Walled Lake. They suck. Just increased the monthly cost in January and just sent an email that the cost is increasing by $35-40 June 1. Making the storage cost over 200 a month. Started out at 120 I think. I tried to call them and got anorher Public Storage and that employee didn't know anything. She couldn't find phone numbers and eventually told me to call customer service. No she didn't have the number. Totally disgusted with their customer service. My inside storage unit was broken into recently. Camera's was not working in halls. Public storage did not seem to concern, just gave me a month credit towards next payment. No compensation for the lost of my property other than their insurance policy that will not cover certain items stolen. Please read manual carefully of what's covered and what's not covered. Please make sure you get additional insurance if you choose to use Public Storage. I personally would not go back to this place again. read more

This was a NIGHTMARE! The storage unit I got, they said it would be large enough to store a 2 bedroom apartment furniture with boxes...they lied! It could not even fit things for a one bedroom apartment. Then on top of that it was INFESTED with ROACHES! I was so in a bind and had to put my things in a storage right away. I had to get a storage Unit asap, and was advised by their REP they were going fast and I might want to get it asap. So I had to pay for it in advance to lock it in, the unit was already paid for and I didn't have the money to go to a different storage place. I was tight on money from an unexpected move where I'm paying by the hour for movers and had no other place to take my taped boxes and storage bins that would fit in the tiny unit. This place has so many roaches ...I would not leave my furniture there because it would have become infested with roaches,and I am NOT taking that back to my new house once I get it! And because I literally had NO OTHER PLACE TO TAKE MY FURNITURE, I had to pay the movers extra to take my NEW furniture I just got, to a dumpster to get rid of it! I literally have to buy ALL new Furniture, living room, dinning room, two bedrooms, because a greedy company just want to make money selling storage spaces whether it will fit all your belongings or NOT. They just want the money, they don't care about taking care of their property, making sure your belongings are safe and well taken care of! NOW, for everyone who has storage in this place, sorry to say you will be taking ROACHES back with you infesting your homes, if you don't find a way to exterminate your belongs that's there. I'm just getting my daddy things I have in there (they are my precious memories of him since he passed) and my pictures of my daughter growing up, and trashing everything else! I don't have time for my new house to be infested with those NASTY ROACHES! This storage company need to pay me back my money and for everything that I have lost because of them neglecting their responsibility of monthly exterminating their property to keep it bug free! (Actually, they need to pay everyone back). I am appalled how management handled my brothers unit being broken into. The lock was cut. Boxes were broken into and either the staff didn't care enough to assist in the investigation of what happened, or there aren't surveillance cameras. Both of which are problematic. This is not a good facility. I encourage you to look elsewhere when it comes to storing your belongings in a safe and secure facility. read more

I rented a unit in October 2020 it was a 10x10 unit and the monthly rental rate was 150 dollars per month initially and within two years my monthly rate escalated to $264.00 per month. I recently vacated the unit 5 days into the month and they want to charge me the entire month they are a bunch of rip off artist. read more

Long story short, I rented a unit here for one month, paid in full then 13 days later was charged $115. I called their Corporate office, because every time I called the local store the phone rang and rang and no one picked up. The corporate team reimbursed my money. Then 2 days later I was charged $115 again. When I called to get reimbursed again, they did not reimburse me. So what started off as a positive experience with public storage ended with a pissed off customer. I will not rent with public storage again if this is how they treat their customers. read more

Would give 0 stars if it was an option Quite a lengthy review-- but it is definitely necessary to let the public know about the poor customer service here Not quite sure if I've EVER encountered such a rude person as Ms. Tamika at the front office.. On the day I was planning out of my unit i stopped in the office, for 2 things.. One to ask if there was a key to the women's restroom since the door was locked (found out from her that the restroom is out of order and only the mens was available) and 2 to let her know that I was going to be moving out of my unit that day and to see what/if anything i would need to do.. She says just come back in the office once the unit is vacant and leave the door open so we can come check on it. I say ok, ill do that.. She says if you are not done by 5, call the office tomorrow so they can make sure you are checked out.. I say ok, Ill let you know when we are finished.. Fast forward 3 hours and i get a call from Tamika yelling at me that were not done moving out of the unit because there was stuff still in there when she came to check and i need to let them know when i was done, or I would continue to get charged and some other stuff.. I had to stop her and say Im sorry can you repeat the last couple of things you said, because i cant understand you, due to the fact you are yelling.. She says (still yelling) I'm trying to tell you what you need to do, you told me you moved out so I was takin you out of the system.. I stopped her there and said I'm trying to understand whats going on.. First is there a problem because i don't understand why you are yelling and using such a harsh tone.. Second i never told you I Moved out, when i stopped in the office to ask about the bathroom if your remember I said i was moving out that day, never said the unit was vacant! She says oh well, if you're not out by five you need to call back tomorrow.. I say ok..i remember you telling me that this morning. Bottom line, i do not believe i have ever encountered a person working in customer service that is as rude and angry as Tamika, all for no reason. Im am so happy I am moving my stuff out, because I could not fathom having to deal with such an unprofessional person again.. Will be elevating this and speaking to someone in management/corporate office.. Some re-training in customer service is necessary, i hope the other individuals that work in the office, are more respectful to customers. Oh and just being honest all of the good reviews are because upon signing your paperwork they will take your phone and download google maps on it and ask you to write a good review about them.. Be very careful here if your storage requirements are critical. The online reservation means absolutely nothing. When you reserve a particular size or location, you will receive a phone call to come in to view the unit, which disappears upon arrival, but the bait and switch tactic goes in full action. I reserved in advance, visited the site, was told my desired unit had a broken lock but would be repaired. The night before move in date, reservation was "automatically" canceled, a new reservation was created and another call came in asking me to come in. Going there I was told my unit was still available but the 50% off/free month was no longer valid. When the off-site manager was contacted, she was extremely rude, saying take it or leave it, stating I'm not obligated to rent from them and their prices are NEVER guaranteed.
