The food is horrible. Barbecue should not be soupy or slightly juicy in the sense it's watery. It reminded me to a certain point of the stuff you get out of the tub in the grocery store. The service however was good. The staff was very kind and sweet. The ambiance is somewhat quiet and pleasant. I went through the drive thru and ordered rib tips with sauce on the side. Plated them at home and made some garlic cheese toast. The tips were okay but a little dry the sauce brought them back to life. When I first moved to this area, I would attend Mindys's frequently. Their food was delicious especially the soup and rib tips but unfortunately over the years and since the pandemic the food has declined so not a super big fan of how they're cooking now my meal was OK but my garlic cheese toast kicked it up a notch . I ordered the rib tips and was underwhelmed. The tips gets two stars but the sides were really good and get a star on their own. The tips seamed like they were boiled just not the right texture. The sauce was never set nothing charred. I feel they should have been thrown back on the grill for another 5 to 10 minutes. This was my first visit. Very similar environment and experience as Portillos. But Mindy's is a Rib place not a hot dog one. So we both ordered ribs of course. We felt that the overall prices were high. Especially for the ribs. Portion size was OK but the ribs were overcooked which made them dry and a little tougher than I like. However I did like them and they were very tasty. And I really like their sauce. The wife and I had different sides. Together we had baked potato (overcooked and mushy falling apart), coleslaw, French bread and French fries. These were excellent. Menu is huge. So we will be returning for the other items. read more

Hadn't been to Mindy's in ages. An appointment ran overtime and thought would pick up some burgers on the way home. I was starving. I grabbed a few fries to munch on on the way home. Had an odd greasy taste. I thought maybe with some salt and ketchup would improve. Nothing could make a difference. The cheeseburger was on a massive bun that looked good, but was hard and stale tasting. The burger was lost on the bun. The Pepsi was oddly tasting was well. 0 for 3. All pitched in the garbage. #21/2024 This is really three and a half stars but I'm upping it to the 4 because of the good service I received Mindy has been around for years and years on the corner of LaGrange Road and 191st Street in mokena just right off of the ramp to interstate 80. Through the years it seen it's ups and downs it's been good it's been bad it's been good again and the reviews definitely reflect. I call it more of a poor man portillo's with all the nostalgia that lines the walls and other things. They're known for their ribs they're usually pretty good for the most part their sandwiches aren't bad either. I'm also a fan of their chili because it's a mild beef chili tomato similar to like the pilot has and they're chili. I came in on this particular just before lunch and I was glad I did because boy did it gets slammed with locals however I ordered a rib sandwich combo which was fries and a drink diet Pepsi. It came out quite quickly I dined in. The rib was very tasty I had a couple of large pickles on there in the barbecue sauce. No onions no let us know tomato some of the options on theirs. I also decided to try their chili she gave me a sample it was what I remembered still really good no fancy not a bunch of onions and peppers and junk in there like Wendy's does. They have daily specials a lot of times the ribs are on sale certain days of the week. They also have a pretty good selection of things their own sort of versions of wrap some healthy not healthy LOL. The sandwich choices and the dinner platters are still very vast also. One of the other things though I didn't notice was very clean bathrooms and the area where you get the beer has its own little area counter now. They do have outside dining although it looks a lot older than what it looks like before it could use a little sprucing but a lot of people have to sit out there and they bring the food out to you. Drive-thru business is very strong during the lunch time and late morning. At the time I probably hadn't been there in about 5 or 6 years before covid. But all in all it was a pretty good experience and if I'm in the area and hungry I probably would stop in again and get something. read more

I've been a resident of Mokena for 25 years. We have gone to Mindy's dozens of times. Today - 10-12-25 - I ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich which I paid $9.50 for. it was without a doubt, the worst PPS that I have ever experienced. The bun was huge and stale. The amount of PP was minimal and dry as could be. My recommendation to others would be to... go to The Patio. 10x better. Sorry Mindy. You are a failing business!!! You and I are done. read more

Today was my first time trying this place. I got the number one combo which is basically a bbq pulled pork sandwich with a large drink and large fries. The drive-thru is fast and employees are friendly. My bill was $12.04. The fries were good The barbecue pulled pork sandwich was pretty bad. I almost choked at how dry it was. If it wasn't for the sauce, you would have a hard time eating it because of the dryness. I definitely would not get it again. read more

Terrible experience. Went there with my wife and ordered our dinner. Food came out and wife's order was not on the tray. The very young manager came out and said you didn't order it. We said we did and pointed to who took our order and she said "well he's new". I understand that, but she has to eat. The manager said the new employee also applied a coupon he shouldn't have and wanted more money. At that point, wife didn't want her meal anymore and I told the manager that when a business messes up they should make it right and not ask for more money. It is sweet and has a kick at the end that makes it worth the trip. The turkey is smoked turkey and mediocre. The fries were cut potates but soggy and seasonless. The brisquet is 40% fat cap and though tender, was cut into 3 fatty slicrs that looked unappetizing. If you cut the fat off and douse them is sauce they are great. Each plate got 2 soggy pieces of 1/4 inch thick white bread, no butter, no garlic, no corn bread. And they were half slices. The place is clean and the service at the front desk was lackluster. It's a real shame the way this place has gone downhill. Disgustingly dirty, If it's not sticky it's dusty and the bathrooms look and smell like they need an enema. I understand that the restaurant industry has experienced tough economic times over the course of the last few years. I get it. Cutting corners, unfortunately, has become the norm. Conversely, people work hard for their money and dining out should be a treat. We ordered a BBQ chicken dinner and a chicken oregano. Both chicken entrees tasted like shoe leather. Old chicken?
