Happy 4th of July! Great experience! Our server Morgan was awesome and she was very knowledgeable about suggesting different types of oysters for their flavor notes based on what we liked. We also got the wood-grilled seafood platter which came with swordfish, shrimp, baked oysters, and the best scallops I've ever tried! I'm a tarter sauce person but I skipped over all sauces because everything was so perfectly seasoned. We couldn't get a seat out on the patio because it was so packed but we were able to sit by an open screened window with a beautiful view of the harbor. read more

Really 3.5 stars. As a party of 6 we went here because of availability in this tourist haven town. It is very large with a wall of firewood for roasting and an upper deck which is the only dog friendly second story deck I've seen. While it was not crowded the service was exceedingly slow, yet courteous. The local beer selection was good; maybe a third Boothbay Brew offering would be nice. The oyster selection was very nice with 6 local varieties and a nice mignonette. However, the oysters Rockefeller was not very flavorful. Neither were the lobster Rockefeller. The mussels were excellent with a ratatouille sauce while the steamers outstanding. I never had Maine steamers in a wine garlic broth, just steamed. Tuna steaks were tasty with a variety of preparations. There is another Harbor place I like better if you get a res but in a pinch this is a decent place. read more

We came several times today, for drinks, food, and snacks. All three times we requested Melissa because she was AMAZING. Attentive, helpful, quick, and hospitable are the words I'd use to describe our server/bartender. We could tell she was maintaining all of the bar and outside area, however she handled it effortlessly. She was there every time we needed something, and was beyond polite every time. Was a little underwhelmed. The building is a bit creepy when you walk in. Sat outside with a great view off a deck. We ordered three kinds of baked oysters and they forgot one kind, brought it later. Tourist? Seek other options. This place was misleading and disappointing. They boast excellent oysters. However, we've had exceptional oysters up and down the eastern and western seaboard(s). I would not count this spot as one of them. The wasters Rockefeller - the oysters they served lacked heft and the dish lacked over all flavor. The service was OK. The biggest disappointment was the lobster roll. It was very small. Served on the traditional hotdog roll but the lobster meat had been chopped and sitting in butter and reheated apparently multiple times as the little bits of lobster were dried around the edges. We were shocked they would serve such a thing. And especially at that price! The good: decent view, strong cocktails, very good crab & oyster dip. read more

Let me start by saying that we eat out a lot. Like every weekend a lot, for over 20 years as adults. My family has a lot of experience working within the restaurant business, so we have the utmost patience and understanding of people new to the business or if someone is in the weeds. We have not once ever complained about anything in all of those years. Basically, we are about as easy as it gets, as customers. With that being said, here is our review. Seafood was decent, but steaks were not. Chewy and cold. The staff? My goodness. They tried to overcharge us for multiple items, in hopes that we didn't notice it. Every soft drink refill is extra. We ordered a dozen clams on the half shell for an appetizer, they brought out 6. When I said I ordered a dozen, they brought the other 6 out, unshucked. I guess they thought we needed clams on the full shell. Those finally got to us in time with the lobster and cold ribeye steaks. So, we check the bill, they ring it up as 2 x 1/2 dozen, which is $3 more than when you order a full dozen. When asked about it, the waitress said "I know. I thought you said half dozen and made a mistake." Ok, but why not fix it if you know that you made a mistake? Next up on the "mistake train" are the lobsters that come with potato's and vegetables. When asked what the vegetables were, we were told ratatouille. Shouldn't have asked that because we were charged $20 for that ($5 x 4). Clearly our waitress was struggling, so being sensitive to that, we pulled over who we thought was a manager and asked her about the $20 in charges and she said "You are right, you shouldn't be charged." No apology, nothing. Zero care shown. Just told our waitress to go take it off the bill and walked away. By the way, our waitress who was supposed to take it off the bill never bothered to come back to apologize and give us the bill either. She had a bus person bring the bill. So, just like our waitress never coming back to our table, you can count on us never coming back to Mine Oyster and we recommend that you don't come here either. read more

started with appetizers- crab dip and chili nachos. the crab dip was tasty but could afford more crab. great variety of sushi and raw tuna/oysters on the menu. we ordered lobster roll, mac & cheese, and two different tuna dishes. when they say blackened, it isnt pan blackened - just dusted with spices. big difference between the two. this is why i deducted a star. all other meals were fresh and delivered hot. very nice staff and comfortable setting. we would go back. read more

Our party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed this return experience and friendly service by the staff. Started with half dozen enormous fresh oysters from nearby Damriscotta River, served with cocktail sauce and fresh horseradish. I couldn't pass up the clam chowder, brimming with flavors of smokey bacon, fresh clams, and potatoes. The fried Haddock Sandwich was as thick as my sister-in-law's ribeye steak, and far larger than the toasted brioch bun. My wife's fried seafood platter was full of shrimp, clams, Haddock, and scallops. Our girls loved their Caprese Salad for starters and the Baked Mac & Cheese with aged parmesan. Overall a great dinner, will definitely visit again, highly recommend to all. read more

I stopped in for a lobster roll at a weird time of day. I had been trying to beat the heat while pet-sitting for friends who live nearby. They left me a pass for the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, so it seemed like something to do while I had so much time on my hands. I went to the Gardens, which were pretty awesome, even though I usually don't like stuff like that. I spent about 6 hours hiking around there and I soon had a hankering for a lobster roll. It was probably about 4PM when I got to Boothbay Harbor proper. I went to McSeagull's first, but the hostess told me they weren't serving food until an hour later, which I thought was pretty damn weird. Mine Oyster was just across the way, so off I went. I sat in the bar upstairs, which was totally dead. The bartender, Beth, took my order and shortly brought me my beer and lobster roll. The lobster roll was huge, grilled nicely and stuffed with lobster. My bill came to about $40- an expensive lunch, but what else are you going to do in Boothbay Harbor? Beth sent me sightseeing at Ocean Point and various sites along the way, which was cool. I had a good time enjoying my car's air conditioning on the hot day in Maine. read more

Really a great place to chow down on some seafood! My wife had a cup of the Lobster and Crab Stew as an appetizer which was amazing, huge chunks of seafood. Then she tried the Hot Crab Dip and was disappointing and wished she had gone with just a bowl of the stew instead. For me, it was the Fried Haddock which was incredible! Served with an enormous pile of fries, cole slaw and a dill pickle slice, I only ate half of it. We'll be back for sure. read more

Given The current Covid circumstances I'd like to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. Here I cannot even read the meal as we left before ordering! The uninterested teen hostess said it is at a table with a roll of the eyes, and tossed our menus on the dirty table. The menu was extensive to say the least. I had some questions for the waitress to which her response was, "well I've served two of them and I had no complaints". We ordered our drinks and used the filthy bathroom while waiting. I watched our waitress struggle for five minutes simply trying to remove the foil top before uncorking the bottle of Malbec I had ordered. She then got sidetracked with a friend. My wife and I simply canceled the drink order and walked out. My assumption here is that this restaurant and the one adjacent to it of the same ownership simply have a captive audience and pump the people in and out with very little care for the customer experience or education of the staff. read more

With my family walking around trying to find a good pizza joint. I noticed they had brick oven pizza blackened fish on their boardwalk. A 16? Year old girl greeted us while chewing her pizza ( mouth open), Which turned me off but not my son. So we went inside and spiraled up staircases and uneven floors to the very back of the restaurant which overlooked part of the harbor. We sat for quite a while until one of the four waitresses Finally greeted us. She was happy and extremely helpful as we were curious about the fresh local oysters and had never tried them before properly. She suggested some and I'm still dreaming about them. We were all pleasantly surprised with our food based on the atmosphere. I would definitely go back there for the Oysters! But they need to work on the greeting customers and not rolling eyes at customers as they walk away from other customers.... yikes read more

Absolutely adored Mine Oyster! An early season lunch stop just after memorial day weekend revealed a sleepy Boothbay Harbor only just waking up from a winter slumber. Mine Oyster was no different. Only a few tables occupied, just a couple folks on staff. Service was still great, and we had a great seat by a window overlooking a misty and overcast Boothbay Harbor. We partook in the dozen oysters for $30 and got some jumbos which were, hands down, the largest oysters I've ever consumed in my life. All were delicious. Then we moved on to the best clam chowder I've ever had in my life. Haddock and clams, potato and bacon, it was just absolutely incredible. After that, an Oyster Po' Boy that left a bit to be desired. I think in the end it was less about what the sandwich was, and more about it just wasn't actually what I wanted that day, though I ordered it anyway. Top it all off with tasty local craft brews, and Mine Oyster helped make a grey day on the seaside an absolute delight. It won't be until next year that I'm back home in Maine in the summer, but I'm hoping Mine Oyster will have a table waiting for me. read more

Going to downgrade Mine Oyster to a still-worthy four stars based on our most recent visit. First, let me clearly state the oysters are top notch. Excellent selection and flawless shucking. The rest of the menu, ehh. I got a bluefin tuna special that was perfectly fine, but nothing you can't get elsewhere. Mrs. W ordered an eggplant-mozz dish that was listed under salads but in no way qualified as a salad. More like a Trader Joe's eggplant parm dish -- not at all what she wanted. She also got a cup of chowder that she rated as meh. Also, despite the fact that poke is the hottest thing around, Mine Oyster no longer has it on the menu. So five for the oysters and three for the rest. I'd go for the oysters and have the rest of your meal somewhere else in BBH. read more

So if you are all about the look of a place... then keep moving.. The menu does not match the decor...And what i mean is that this place on the inside hasn't been updated or maintained in 20 years... But the food I had grilled scallops... They were cooked perfectly. For the price of 24 bucks i got 8 nice sized scallops. Very impressed with the flavor... The bacon creamed corn left a lot to be desired though as did the vegetables that came with the meal.. Service was standard. We sat on the deck and were able to listen to the band from the restaurant below which was nice. Fog was heavy so i cant describe the view, though im sure its a great view of the harbor. We will come back again to try more of the menu... But probably stay away from the corn read more

We stumbled across this restaurant while exploring Boothbay Harbor so we stopped in for lunch. The location is great, and the restaurant has a very homey feel to it. It also offers great views of the water. The food was WAY more expensive than I was expecting. It didn't look that expensive from the menu, but we ordered a few lobster meals and of course it doesn't list a price but we assumed it would be about the same as other seafood places in the area, but I was wrong! We got our bill and my sons lobster nachos were $32!! They charged us separately for the nachos and the lobster. I was shocked! The menu didn't say anything about it being separate charges. It just said lobster nachos- market price. My husband ordered a lobster roll and his was a bit pricey too but at least they charged him one price and it was less than the nachos. Our bill ended up being about $100 for lunch. I mean, the food was good but wasn't worth the price. Just be sure to double check the cost before ordering. read more
